This place is pretty cool, so much anime and video games and they have pretty good people that know a lot about the things there.

I'm sick of your crap with inflating your already high prices on the spot. You just took the new…read moresteelbook for Tombstone and it was in my hand for $44.00 and then you inflated it to $70 at checkout. This is nonsense. You do this shit all the time and I am going to expose your dishonest and unscrupulous crap to everyone. You are not eBay. You treat your good customers like horse shit. I am about to stop shopping at your stores. I have been a VERY loyal person to your company and I spend major money at your location. This is NOT RIGHT. You never used to do this to people. And you know what? Every time you have been doing this you end up dropping the price again because this is a knee jerk bullshit reaction. This is not some rare item. You are as bad as a scalper on eBay. Dirty business.

Walk in...three employees behind the counter "welcome in" one says, I wave and make my way through…read morethe store. The place looks absolutely wrecked. Dirty floors, aisles full of merch laying on the ground, poorly organized shelves, stacks of comics on top of the long boxes...nearly unshoppable. I made a couple passes through the place, I tried to look at the glass cases up front but there was too much stuff piled on top of them to see into it. What prompted me to write the review however, is the conversation that I overheard between the employees. A young man, clearly a "manager" that was on his way out of the business for good was essentially telling the other two that despite his best efforts to get the powers that be to give one of them a shot at running the store, the decision has been made to bring someone else in that was being trained at another store...and that was the right decision. I have 16 years in retail, 9 of those years as a General Manager, and the way that store looked, no wonder they didn't want the next manager to learn from the person in charge there. I was in that store for nearly 20 minutes, aside from the greeting, I was never again acknowledged, despite being within earshot of their conversation for the last 7-10 minutes I was there. When I decided to make a purchase (something to resell, believe it or not I did find a deal at a vintage stock) I stood at the counter for appx 90 seconds waiting for one of them to get me outta there, which feels like an eternity when you're waiting to give a business money...I then asked "why is the store so dirty?" The response was "we've been really busy." I'm sorry, but I don't believe you couldn't find a few minutes during your shift to tidy up a bit...like maybe the last 20 minutes or so? Now for starters, i feel bad for whoever is paying that crew to literally do nothing...for days...because the way that store looked, it hadn't been properly walked or reset in days if not weeks. Additionally, I feel bad for whoever is coming into that situation to turn it around...looks like it's gunna be a month of 60 hour work weeks to get that one ready for Black Friday weekend. Finally, to the young man who wanted to get a shot at running the store but didn't even get the chance to talk to upper management about it...you didn't get a shot because you don't care about your store. You may not be the manager, but you also let it look like that. Talent evaluators and decision makers know who has the passion for running a business. It's the person cleaning the aisles, vacuuming the floors and creating nice displays for the shoppers to enjoy. It's the one person NOT standing behind the counter negatively portraying the ownership in earshot of a customer. It's the person offering to help the only customer in the store. Nothing is given without being earned...I'm sorry you had a poor mentor, but perhaps the next one will set a better example for you to learn from. I look forward to my next visit to see if there is any improvement.

They are amazing! honestly one of the best gaming console repair shops out there…read more Had and PC, laptop and PS5 that needed repair, they were able to offer a fair quote that worked with me. for my PS5 was same day repair and got it back fixed up good as new within a couple hours. couple months later my Gaming Pc was acting up and couldn't figure it out. However of course first place I thought of was Gamers HQ:) had my Pc back in couple days good as new. All the employees are super friendly and super knowledgeable about whatever device you bring in! so, I do defiantly recommend this shop for anyone that comes across it!

I…read moredon't spend my hours glued in front of a big screen television playing all of the latest games. What I am is an old school video game lover. Once upon a time I was the owner of a PlayStation one and over the years It got misplaced. I've been telling myself for a while to try to find a way to get another one but with new games and consoles being introduced all the time, I feared that I would never be able to find an original classic. When I googled play station one in search of trying to find places that sold them I was led to this place. I looked at the reviews and they seem to be a spot that a lot of people approved so I decided I'd give them a call. When I called them and told them that I was looking for an original PlayStation one, I was immediately surprised that they had it. Not only did they have it, the price that they were selling it for was extremely affordable especially in these days and times. But before I could commit to buying it I had one more question for them. The number one game that I love to play on the PlayStation one was Tekken 3, and when I asked them if they had that, they stated that they did. At that point I was sold and I came in the next day and purchased my PlayStation one and my game Tekken three. After receiving the game. I immediately came home and hooked it up and I noticed a problem right away when it took me five attempts to get the game to come on before it would. When I seen that it came on I was willing to forgive the five tries, until I turned off the game and went about my business and came back hours later to play again only to find that the Console would not come on at all. I decided that I was going to take the console back and demand either a replacement or a refund. When I arrived they were so friendly and helpful. They immediately discovered that the problem was the power cord to the game. They quickly issued me a new power cord and assured me that if there were any more problems they would be more than happy to fix it at no extra charge. I brought the cord home hooked it up and I have been in tekken land ever since. Now that I've talked about my experience I will talk about the layout of the store. They do have a lot of retro games. They do have Nintendo, the wii and all of the other games, but what I saw that I haven't ever seen before was they have a gaming room. Set up with gaming chairs, different sizes of TVs and they said they virtually have any game that you were interested in playing. You can pay a price to play for an hour, or half a day or all day. You can pay for snacks while you play games. Unfortunately they won't let you in the room unless you're going to play games in there but I did get a sneak peek as a kid came out to switch out games. This has become a popular hang out in the Topeka area and now I know why. I literally saw parents bringing their kids to this place and coming back to pick them up later. Maybe one day just out of curiosity I may go and play a game for an hour just to see what it's like. They also state that you can throw gaming parties. So if you are into classic games like me or you are a bona fide gamer this is definitely a place you want to check out

When we first got there, I thought 'Wow, there really aren't many games here'...but then we wound our way around through the back and came upon WAY more games situated in a few different connecting rooms. So yes, the place is laid out a little strangely - maybe more signage could help with this - but it's actually really cool once you figure out where you're supposed to go. Solid State has a huge selection of pinball machines - and there's something for everyone. Old, new, weird, normal. It's pretty awesome. And you can just pay one price and play anything you want! You can also set up an online account to track your score against other players - although not all machines supported this feature. It would be cool if they did, but I get that the ancient games don't really have the option. Another pretty great thing was that probably 99% of the games were operational. I think this place started out as a pinball repair shop, so they know how to get and keep them running, which is awesome. The bartender/owner was really nice and helped a few of us to some tasty drinks. Overall I highly recommend this place for hours of pinball fun!

The employees here are VERY knowledgeable. I was low on cash last Christmas, but wanted to get my 5 year-old a Wii. I traded in my play station. I feel the manager was sympathetic of my situation. He helped me find a few games that are popular with children one that was educational but fun, one that was more just for fun, and Mario Kart for us both to play. Hey can a dad get anything Nintendo without Mario? Hehe he set me up with two controllers and explained the system to me. Between Vintage Stock and Gamer's HQ, I would find no reason to shop here. If you've hit those two stores and had no success finding what you're looking for, I'd say proceed with caution here, and make sure you check out pricecharting online before you buy anything so you don't end up overspending. Also, I get that it's a used video game store, but frankly it kind of had a weird smell... I would definitely check the other gaming stores in the area before coming here, and even then, I'd buy online before coming back to this store. Definitely a last resort for me.
