What a Dumpster Fire, I cannot believe these reviews. I went there only because of these reviews. This place was a train wreck. There was hardly anything in the store, lots of empty shelves. Very unfriendly, one of the dudes working was out having a cigarette in front of the store. Seriously, take it somewhere else! All I heard was "we don't stock that anymore or we can't get it". Overpriced. I'm all for supporting local but when it's nearly 4 times the price I just can't afford it. I was cleaning out my moms place and found an old RC car that needed a NiMh battery so popped on over and figured they would have something. It's a cheap old car and my kids just wanted it to run. The battery was 30-ish, a charger was another 35 and then the guy said I needed some cable which was another 10 or so. Didn't want to spend that much on a car that may or may not run. Unsurprisingly found it online for 20 bucks for 2 batteries, and the charger. The van with a smile on it came the next morning and car worked great and kids happy. It was the exact same battery with the same packaging. Maybe they have better prices for other thing but this time was not it. read more

Have been going to Hobby Haven for twenty years. Always helpful, never clingy or dismissive. Small store, can't stock every odd model, but very helpful. My compressor, which I bought 18 years ago, died and I got a lesson in how to repair it and the relative cost to replace. Just one example of the good service I have received there. read more

Staff were very helpful and friendly to me, I read the other postings and I really didn't see anything to complain about. They cannot carry everything for every model, but they have some great stuff and parts for what they have in stock. They staff were very knowledgeable about their products and took the time to answer my questions. read more

I have been a customer of this business since I was 15yrs old where I bought my first R/C car kit, a Tamiya hornet. I have spent thousands of dollars with this company!!! I have been a lifelong customer of over 30yrs, I'm 52yrs old. I bought my first kit when they were at Indian Springs mall and I have purchased mainly trains, slot car tracks and R/C cars. Recently I purchased two Lectron Pro 22.2V 5200mAh batteries and one crapped out on me. I spoke with the owner, BRIAN, on the phone and he said he would replace the battery for me. I explained to him my smart charger was recognizing this $120 pack as a five cell due to one cell being bad. So I drive all the up to Kansas city/ Overland Park and he puts a $2 harbor freight volt meter on the main lead and told me I screwed this pack up, yet the other pack is working fine. I got two good runs out of this battery. I will post pictures and it is visually obvious the pack is swollen and he refused to replace it. He didn't even put it on a balance checker to inspect every cell!!!! I couldn't believe the shitty customer service practices he incorporates to his business, again, I've been a life long customer and this is how I was treated. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE. For all the money I have spent over the years I was speechless. I told him he just lost a life long customer (and some other choice words) and left before I lost my cool. What a POS that guy is and what crappy customer service! Needless to say, he will never see another dollar out of my wallet. I hope his business fails and if you are looking for hobby stuff, be it trains, planes or R/C cars, I would buy from somewhere else. Dude is full of crap. I don't know if I'm more pissed off in the fact that he told me he would replace it and I drove over an hour to watch him put that two dollar harbor freight volt meter on the main lead with out checking out each cell or the fact that he is a dirty rat fink! If I could give this horrible and obviously failing store a zero I would. The disrespectful employees and filth of the store are the main reasons neither I nor anyone I know will ever come back to this store. We were incredibly offended at the rudeness and downright condescending way we were spoken to by the long haired gentleman at the counter. I have worked in customer service and management for a very long time and I would NEVER speak to any customer that way, much less someone that was carrying several items to purchase, and prepared to purchase more in the future. We will happily pay less to buy these items online and not deal with the poor and negative treatment. I will be telling every single person I know. read more

Knowledgeable staff, and a good assortment of paints, parts, models etc. Every time I go to hobby haven I am greeted at the door, asked if I need help then left to browse if I said no. Always knowledgeable when I ask about a particular topic or pointed to another staff member who can. Prices are good and can be very competitive with even amazon. read more

I moved to the area about a year ago, and was looking for a good hometown style hobby shop. Hobby Haven has proven to be that place, they have always been helpful with any questions I've had. One of the gentlemen took 30 min out of his day to unbox one of his airbrush kits to teach me how to use one as well as what to look for in a airbrush. Needless to say he made a sale. I've seen in times passed some negative comments about the place, and at time depending on who you catch you get a less then pleasant response. But in my experience it kind of comes with the territory, hobby guys are usually a close knit group and sometimes have a hard time warming up to "noobs". But in my experience give them a chance, they have great stuff, tons of selections and what they don't carry they will order. Overall, great hometown hobby shop. I've been there quite a few times, when we visit another business in the area. The people working always seem only interested if you are there for R/C items or accessories, I build plastic model aircraft and they seem very annoyed to even check me out at the register, much less provide assistance. Their model kit prices are very high priced. Accessories and paints reasonably priced, which is the only reason I return on occasion. Sadly there aren't many hobby stores left, and they do have a great selection for paints that others don't. I will return, when in the area, but only for needed paint or accessory items, but what I can find online will replace as much as possible. read more

Being one of the last two hobby shops in n entire city must be pretty scary for a business that's been around as long as hobby haven. Unfortunately, fir hobby haven, sitting on your ass taking 300% mark ups on merchandise that's half as good as I can buy on amazon prime doesn't cut it anymore. And it shows. I have never been treated so poorly by a mom and pop store thst would be lucky to make a dollar off me. But apparently if it isn't going to be 10 dollars, hobby haven isn't interested. In fact after selling me a $30 toy drone for $100 and then fleecing me for an embarrassing Mark up on parts for 6 months, I decided to shop around. I bought the real thing off the internet. I grew up. Wow we're they pissed. So pissed that on every occasion that I have attempted to buy parts there since, they have refused to serve me. Claiming they didn't have items that were clearly on display. Never have I seen a bussiness so stuck in the past, thst they would refuse to take an honest mark up on the only growing segment in the hobby industry. --drone and wuadcopter racing. There is a track 4 miles from there shop, and these fools are too stupid to know it. In an evolve or die market, they h e chosen suicide. Good riddance. read more

I'm new to plastic models. I especially love Star Trek models. I was putting together a TOS Enterprise model, but was having a hard time with 3 pieces put together. I needed a good old fashioned hobby store (Hobby lobby is not a hobby store), so after a couple of days looking in the KC area online, I finally found Hobby Heaven. They are perfect and had everything I needed and wanted to fix and finish my model, and helped me choose the products that would work. And they had several other model types, including from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam as well as the Eagle Moss Star Trek models. I will definitely be returning there for more. read more

I made my first trip in on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Having read the reviews before going I was very interested to see what my experience would like. I was particularly on the lookout for any of the negative items mentioned. Well there was nothing negative to report. In fact they were very helpful and this was for modeling, not RC. I was impressed on how they worked as a team and there were up to four different employees involved in either assisting me directly, or helping someone who was. No hint of an attitude, just great customer service (remember, my first time there and they did not know me). I would highly recommend them. Lots of variety (WAY more than those big hobby chains) and great customer service. read more

Nice shop, but my wife bought me an entry-level drone/copter which is hard to fly and the instructions included with it are poorly written. I went back and was arrogantly told "no exchanges or refunds". They offered flying instructions and that was it. I understand where they are coming from, but it was their "take it or leave it" attitude that just is not welcome (to me) in this day and age of a "competitive marketplace". read more

I came in about three weeks ago for a crawler that was a 1:24 scale. It was my first rc and shortly after I bought a 1/10 scale stampede. They have her ever part and price I needed for my vehicle. My transmission blew out in the, used, vehicle I had blighted and they helped and taught me how to rebuild it in store so i could leave will a working rc. read more

I had been trying to find a certain Axial rock crawler in stock since they were all sold out online so I started calling any stores that were within a drive for me. Called Hobby Haven and they had exactly what I was looking for. Since I had a hour and a half drive I asked if they could hold it for me. So I made the drive and got to the store. I was instantly greeted as I walked in and told them I had a item on hold. The gentleman came out with the crawler and went over what I needed to get it up and going and also shared information and some local rock crawling places and clubs. It was a great first experience at Hobby Haven and if I'm in the area or need to make the drive again I would be happy to do so. read more

I am fairly new to the RC helicopter world. I started buying off of Amazon but found the need to talk to people in person (I kept crashing and breaking my aircraft). Hobby Haven has been awesome for me. The repair prices are unbeatable. They don't push high-end RC items on the buyer just to sell high end items. The take the time to talk with you and make a fair judgment about your flying ability and make really good suggestions about what a good "next step" would be. I had an mcx-2 but was becoming bored with it. I asked what would be a good next step and which radio would be a good item to purchase so I could buy the cheaper "BNF" bind and fly instead of the "RTF" ready to fly. This saves a lot of money because you do not need to purchase a new transmitter when you purchase another helo or quad (that's all i have been flying). I went from the mcx2 to the msr and purchased a nano quad as well. When I brought my msr in for repair (because i broke it and it was my fault). I asked what they think would be a good item to move up to. I was looking at a mcp (collective pitch helo. Greg, suggested that I do not move to a collective pitch item yet because I am still a novice. He pointed me to the SR 120 which is the big brother to the msr. Great choice. I am only at the hover in place point right now, but it takes a lot of tiny movements to keep the SR 120 in place which makes it fun. Eventually, I will move up and start doing tricks and such but they do not "push" you into buying. read more

Not so much as a pleasant greeting when I walked in the store. An employee felt the need to use filthy language when he was not happy with a delivery he received at the back door. This was with customers in the store including a mother and child. As a previous reviewer stated, they are not interested in helping you unless you are there to purchase high dollar RC items. read more

I needed some parts for my Nitro RC buggy. I was really disappointed with how I was treated. The employee asked if I needed anything. However, when I asked him questions, he acted liked I was bothering him. I felt like he didn't care that I was even there. When I asked for a different color fuel line, he was irritated with me. When I go into a store to spend my hard earned money, I should be treated like they actually want me to be there. I was going to buy more items but I left the store. How does a store make money when they treat people like that? I guess I need to buy a new $400+ RC vehicle to get any respect. I can buy online cheaper but I go to a store for customer service. welcome to a so called hobby store... who should really have the name eflite... want drone parts... think again.. want any part..think again.. if its not eflight they don't carry..need just blades... for you drone... nope if it isn't eflight they don't stock it carry it order it... didn't buy from them they don't have it... funny microcenter had more up to date hobby stuff then them...if you don't have nikes and fancy cars ...this isn't your hobby store..there still stuck in the old days $$$$$ to play ...things change... advancements in tech make things cheaper they refuse to keep up with times...
