Fast forward to today: I receive a text message saying my clothes have been processed and I have an offer ready. Excited, I arrive at the store, only to be told that they are looking for fall clothes. They told me to bring my clothes next year. No offer was given. I'm sorry, but it is not good business to tell someone that he/she has an offer ready, only to not receive any money at all. Additionally, there were clothes I brought that, with the right accessories, such as a shrug, could easily be fall clothes because of the colors. At first, I told them to donate my clothes, but after giving it some thought, returned and took them back. I wish the girl yesterday would have told me they are only accepting fall clothes. I would have gone through the box and pulled out the fall pieces right then and there. Instead, I feel like they didn't go through the box in its entirety and my time as a customer was not valuable to them.

It was a weird time of day so there wasn't really anyone else in there except one other customer who was trying stuff on. The clerk gave me a friendly greeting, asked if I needed any assistance and I let her know I'd just be browsing around. They did have a pretty good selection, I started in the sale section because I'm cheap (haha). I found several nice tops, that were new with tags, but each of them had a flaw of some sort. I don't hold this against Clothes Mentor, especially considering the fact that this is a consignment store AND that I was mostly looking at clearance items. I guess the part that bothered me a little is that some of the tags would say AS IS on them and some didn't. Maybe not every issue had come to their attention yet. So, just be careful. I found a shirt that was a great price, so decided to get it. When I went to check out the lady working was so bubbly and friendly. I actually enjoyed shopping there and left happy. So, even though Lee's Summit isn't a place I get to often, I wouldn't mind going back sometime in the future.

Rediscovered this spot yesterday on a bike ride into town, and I was reminded that I could spend a lot of time in here. She dangled my bracelet at me, and dropped it in my hand while shuffling me out the door, apparently I was not as important as their preferred clientele who spend big bucks on glittering diamond necklaces & rings as prominently displayed in their store. I didn't let it go at that, and argued the point that I had done business with them before, and felt her disposition was (hard business) rather than a friendly store for repeat customers. As it turned out, when I went across town to another store that was very similar, a store with glittering tennis diamond necklaces on black velvet displays, in there also were an aging couple minding the store that they own, with a helpful clerk and a bench jeweler. To my relief, my request was granted without hassle, for a price of $70.00. It was so worth it, because later that evening when I searched on line for a similar tennis gemstone bracelet set in gold, the price now is around $1,200. about 6 X what I paid for in 2009. As far as I'm concerned, my request was important, and rather an intelligent one.
