To start, I am currently in school, and I am in a position right now im not proud of, but I had to go and sell some of my Pokémon center etbs. I offered them 70% which I deem fair, as Ive gone to plenty of card shows and 70 is the lowest most vendors go, They offered me 45%. I should of ran, but I am currently not proud to admit I am desperate for the money. We settled at 52%, and they claimed all these reasons why they couldn't give me 70%, such as condition, shipping, labor etc. Long story short I'm writing this review because they took my ETBS and listed them ABOVE market, when they claimed they couldn't offer me 70% because of "condition," and they would have to list them BELOW market, they are scammers. Took some cards in wanting $240 which seemed fair they were some older cards like delta species Pikachu and a few other cards they came back and offered $30 from the 6 cards I took in if it was all damaged price it would be $160 so $130 would of been more fair even though they are not all that damaged I don't think some white speck makes it heavy played and I've also spent quite a bit of money here in the past but after my last 4 experiences here I won't be returning especially if I get offered 15% read more

The employees are actual SAINTS for the level of patience they exhibit with the younger customers. I will preface this by saying I know absolutely nothing about Pokémon or other collectible card games like Magic TG. What I can say is that there is tons of space in this place, with lots of tables set up for playing or trading cards. There's adults here playing Pokémon, and kids wandering around trading cards with each other and testing the employees' patience and knowledge at the sales counter. They seem to have a pretty good selection of stuff (but what do I know?) and in addition to the gaming cards they have sports cards and board games. Oof. Absurdly disrespectful owner/management here. I spend a fair bit on TCG's every year and have ordered from pretty much everywhere, and this has probably been the worst. Seems like just another store that'll pull orders when the price goes up; I ordered 2 BB's @350 that are now hovering in the ~450's, and my order was mysteriously marked as "potentially fraud" (regardless of the fact that I had just recently placed another order they had no issue fulfilling). I was looking for Prismatic Pokemon packs and another shop sent me here. I know nothing about Pokemon, it was a gift for my daughter's bf. They were great, they had what I needed plus many more options. The gentleman that helped me was as sweet as he could be he explained things and even looked up a card online and showed me the value. Warning for others leveraging the buy list - I spent a couple hours submitting 42 of my old Pokemon cards that were on the buy list. I received an email asking for pictures of 4 of the cards, which I provided. Thereafter, I was told my cards didnt meet the 'near mint' requirement and the ENTIRE lot of 42 cards was rejected stating "...we are assuming that the rest of your cards are in played condition so we do not want them". I've been a patron of Collectors Cache since I was pretty young. I can honestly say I've never had a good experience in the store. When I was younger I'd shop there whenever I could and would consistently get blown off by staff. When I hit college I still shopped there because card stores are a hard find in Kansas. I would drop a lot more money since I had a decent job and would consistently get treated like trash while in there. Waiting hours for orders, getting ignored at the counter even when speaking to get staffs attention, and would always get snide remarks from staff. Luckily for me I moved out of state and have better card stores to frequent now. However I recently came back for a visit to Kansas and a friend and I went to collectors cache a few times while I was there. Each and every time we went in we got comments that we'd have to wait a long time for our orders (around 10 cards and the store was empty.) the main guy who's name I believe is Chris (don't quote me on that) would mumble things under his breath like "of course we are busy right now." He'd snap at his employees and at us or sigh if we asked him questions. The general feeling you get in there is just that they hate their customers, find business to be an inconvenience and they do not care to put up any facade that they feel otherwise. I've dropped thousands in this store over the years and I've always felt like I was trespassing or inconveniencing the store. I even complained to the owner about it when I was in college and he apologized profusely and told me that it's hard to find staff that cares about the store like he does. Which is understandable, but it seems nothing has changed. I might also add that I've worked in a couple of card stores. I know how busy it can get. I know it's a lot of work. I know it can get hectic and just sorting tons of cards alone is alot to deal with. But I never ever took that out on customers. I never made them feel unwanted or like their business was an inconvenience to me. It's unfortunate that they feel this way about customers because they have an amazing selection. But they make shopping there hard. Especially with their kiosk system. You're supposed to buy all your singles online (which I understand the logistics of for a store of that size) however if you ask about prices they snap at you to look online, so you do. But beware if it's an item in the case it isn't online so you tell them that and they snap at you that "of course it's not online it's in the case." As if you're stupid for not knowing. Then you run into quantities online being incredibly inaccurate which makes the online shopping pretty much useless. Stuff is out of stock that you can see with your eyes isn't out of stock etc. all in all I'd say if you have to shop at a store in Kansas, go to Larry's. His store is smaller and he has a smaller selection but his prices are fair and he didn't treat me like garbage during my visit. Or shop online and save yourself the hassle of feeling like a burden when you're spending your hard earned money. I won't be coming back when I come to Kansas. Getting snapped at while I was there was the final straw for me. read more

I have a friend who works here and I was really just going in to visit. I was not into card games at all. While I was there they gave me a free Magic the Gathering starter pack and Ben took time to teach us (my friend and I) how to play. Since that day I have gone back several times to not only learn more about the game, but also buy way too many cards. They have a website to search for cards I may want in my deck, and then they put it together for pickup, or if you prefer delivery they do that as well. Their prices are fair. Collector's Cache will consistently give market value on cards. I do not trust any other shop in the area with doing so (I have over payed for cards and packs at other stores). CCs has several tournaments going on: nerves are holding me back from joining in. And if you aren't in the tournaments, you can still play with friends or even strangers for fun because they have the table space. From what I can see, CCs main sell is of Pokémon and Magic the Gathering cards, but they have all sorts of different card and board games. They also have a limited collection of video games. If you are into arcade games they have a few machines in the back. Overall, Collector's Cache is an easy going relaxed atmosphere that is welcome to all players of any level. Oh, I almost forgot to mention! If you have kids, they can bring their report cards in to show good grades and receive a prize! I am not sure what, but I saw the sign. read more

John who worked there was very helpful and talked to the kids about how the trade works and why you don't make as much as one may think. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Parents beware. I found out my son and his friends had been spending a ton of money here. After talking to these kids, it's abundantly clear that none of them are collecting these cards as a hobby, nor are they interested in playing the Pokemon card game. They are only interested in buying card packs with the hopes that they can score a rare card, sell it, and make some money. The card packs themselves are no different than a slot machine at a casino, carefully calibrated to make sure the house comes out on top every time but allow an occasional win to keep them coming back for more. I'd be very careful letting your pre-teen kids shop here without your supervision. They'll definitely be taken advantage of. read more

I am very new to Magic. I went into Collector's Cache knowing almost nothing, and asked the gentlemen behind the counter to help me build a deck that would defeat my husband's. They were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly, and they have a huge selection. Two guys worked with me to understand my style of gameplay and reconcile it with a style that would go against my husband. There was no attempt at upselling anything, just honest opinions. I went home feeling great about my new deck. (And I beat him!) Last week, I attended Friday Night Magic for the first time and had a good time. Everyone I played was polite, interesting, and gave me great feedback. As a woman, it's fantastic to be treated respectfully and equally by both the employees and the clientele at a gaming store. Another great option if you're looking to play MTG/Yugioh/Pokemon in the Johnson County area. Unlike Win More, which is essentially a MTG only store, Cache is a much roomier and diversified store supporting other games. With that being said, what you gain in room and diversification (and even some arcade games!) is a loss in game specific acumen. If you want to get better at/only play Magic; try Win More first. If you play any other TCGs, this is the store you should go to. Note that for tournaments, you unfortunately are asked to park at the back of the lot, which is nearly an 1/8th of a mile walk, so plan accordingly. But with Danny's B&G next door and Minsky's to the other side, the dining options within walking distance truly are superb. read more

I received a played card that was advertised as Near Mint. When I tried to exchange it for one in the correct condition, I was told they couldn't because they had increased the price by $12. They at least refunded me when I returned the card, but I was very unhappy with their refusal to take responsibility and accept the exchange. read more
