I like this place. It's not a mammoth trading location where you often find teen employees who have no idea what you're looking for or talking about. The employees here are VERY knowledgeable. I was low on cash last Christmas, but wanted to get my 5 year-old a Wii. I traded in my play station. I feel the manager was sympathetic of my situation. He helped me find a few games that are popular with children one that was educational but fun, one that was more just for fun, and Mario Kart for us both to play. Hey can a dad get anything Nintendo without Mario? Hehe he set me up with two controllers and explained the system to me. Other stores may have a crazy high selection, and even slightly lower prices (though I shopped around and the prices aren't that different,) but the service is spectacular! read more

Although this store has a large selection of well organized used games, I found them to be moderately to very overpriced. Between Vintage Stock and Gamer's HQ, I would find no reason to shop here. If you've hit those two stores and had no success finding what you're looking for, I'd say proceed with caution here, and make sure you check out pricecharting online before you buy anything so you don't end up overspending. Also, I get that it's a used video game store, but frankly it kind of had a weird smell... I would definitely check the other gaming stores in the area before coming here, and even then, I'd buy online before coming back to this store. Definitely a last resort for me. read more

Prices are way too high for used things. I've purchased many of the things they have there, other place brand NEW for the same price.

Reasonable prices on most things. As with most independent gaming stores, they feel like some of their stuff is gold. Overall not bad, watch out for the really expensive items they are usually way overpriced. read more

Game Central offers a decent selection of video games, including a large number of out-of-print titles, used consoles, and a small selection of movies and music. The selection on the latter isn't great, but I doubt this is the reason most people come to Game Central. Likewise, the prices and variety of titles for the newer consoles is alright, but you can find that stuff at a lot of places and probably for less money. What really makes Game Central worth going to is the large number of old, no longer issued games, for systems running the gamut from the PS2 to the 8-bit Nintendo. There are only a handful of places that sell such titles, and Game Central fares pretty well against the competition. I will say, that in Topeka, Vintage Stock on Wannamaker blows this place away in nearly every regard. But other than that, it does pretty well. It is a bit higher priced than I would prefer, but I think this is because they are rather particular about the condition of the games they buy. I can appreciate that. There is nothing worse than getting some obscure, hard-to-find game home only to find that it doesn't actually work and that you will have to return it. I picked up an early title for the PS2 here and the disc was spotless and worked like a dream. That's generally worth a couple of extra bucks, if you ask me. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Took my PS3 into the store and was told that they would check the power issue and get back within 3-5 business days. After leaving phone messages that were not returned, I went to the Wanamaker store and was told that it was at the Brookwood store. I went there, and was told it was " in the tech area" and they couldn't get it for me. They also said the manager was at the Wanamaker store, but he wouldn't talk to me on the phone. I drove back to Wanamaker and told the manager that I wanted my PS3 returned to me. He told me that it would be back there in the morning. read more

DO NOT USE GAME CENTRAL TO REPAIR YOUR GAME CONSOLE!!! I Dropped my PS3 off December 1st 2011. After weeks and months of calling trying to find out the status of my PS3 I was told Mid February 2012 It was fixed. I paid their Fee and was told there was a 90 Warranty. I took it home Fired it up and it didn't work... I returned it the next day so they would warranty it. After a short argument with the clerk they took it back. I let a week go by and called to ask about the status. I was told they were going to "reball" the PS3. After a few more weeks I called and was told my PS3 was "not repairable, I could trade it in for parts." I told the "repair " person that I had already paid to have it fixed, and it was under "Warranty" He hung up the phone. I called almost every other day for a few more weeks and got no where. Finally This wednesday the 10th of April I stopped by. I was under the impression they would trade out my unit for a working unit, I was riding my motorcycle that day so I told them I would return Friday. When I returned Friday They wanted me to Trade in my Unit, and put the amount I paid towards a refurbished unit. They wanted me to pay $200. Obviously I just took my money, and my PS3 back. I am still contemplating legal action. If you visit expect to get treated like an idot. read more
