The employees are super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the products. I was inquiring about leather paints for shoes. The clerk was provided awesome service making sure I understood the paint and all the needs to clean it up. I didn't feel pressured to purchase anything. They offered individual paints or sets for this particular type of paint. They had a selection of "specialty" colors that are made in small batches and a little more exclusive than the regular. Their open stock pens are glorious!!! Whether you are looking for an inexpensive Flair pen or Sharpie, or a more spendy Copic, you can choose from many different brands, and price points. They have canvases, and lots of blank bags, pouches, tshirts and other items that you can alter to share your art! They have numerous types of clay, molding clay, pottery clay, fine art medium and even novice kits. Framing has become such a niche specialty that it's hard to find a great little locally owned shop these days, so I'm grateful that this place exists. When I walked in with my print the owner was there and he took the time to spread it out, talk to me about the kind of paper it was on, the best way to choose a frame, and let me explore some different options before we landed on what materials to use. He did let me know about the wait as he is often backlogged for a few weeks/months, and once you drop your art with him you don't pay for it until you come back to collect the finished product. To be honest I considered giving four stars just because it was a few weeks longer than the quote and I had to call a few times to get an updated time frame, I wish they were a bit more proactive on that front as it started to worry me with the cost of the art etc. That being said, once I went in to pick it up it was literally perfect and I could tell that they take pride in what they do. On top of that the owner is genuinely kind and passionate about his work, which to me pushed this place back up into 5 star territory. Overall, it'll take some time, and this store is somewhat old school, but framing is an old school business and it's wonderful to be able to support local and get a top notch product at the same time. Their carts were not in good condition, and there were quite few aisles that were a mess and difficult to get through on the main ones. They did not have a good selection. They had a few sales going on that were buy one get one 50% off. They had some summer stuff on clearance that was 70% off, but it was kind of a whole disaster and picked over. Then there was a selection in the middle aisles with no pricing on them and it just said 50% off. I ended up purchasing some bubbles and a ball for my grandson instead of the craft supplies that I will just get at Hobby lobby. I had to ask for the price of the ball because there was no price on it. There were two cashiers, and then the rest were self checkout, which I absolutely hate, especially for a craft store. I went to the person that was checking out and she was absolutely rude to my grandson. I had to put the ball on the checkout and she was scanning it to get the price and my two year-old grandson said the typical two-year-old comment of, "my ball" and she snapped back at him with a sharp tone, "I know it's your ball I have to scan it!" My grandson didn't even say it rudely he was just saying it was his, like I was buying it for him. I would definitely not go back to the store or any Michaels for that matter.
