Lovelovelove this store! They just have such a wonderfully curated collection of products, plus they offer really cool classes. I've taken several here and they're really fun & you get to take home what you've made. I'm not particularly crafty, but the staff here explains everything thoroughly and shows you tip & tricks to help make your creative juices start flowing. I love the card selection at the Hallmark in Ranchmart and at HMK on the Plaza, but Paper Source has a huge selection too. Plus they have everything you need to make your own cards, a massive selections of stamps, stickers, pens (including my fave Le Pen felt tips in a variety of colors,) calendars, journals, gifts, and knickknacks. This is a great place to grab a gift for anyone on your list. And oh my goodness the wrapping paper here is GORGEOUS! Like so gorgeous you could frame it and call it art. It's really high quality and they have quite a large selection of designs & colors. And it's not just a paper store. The place has awesome, funny and unique cards for all your standard occasions. This is my "Kid in a Candy Store" place. I'm of the persuasion that a girl can never have too many journals, various types of pens with colors of ink, and will one day have a "writing room" in my house. I'm also the kind of girl who writes letters (remember those?! How retro!) and seals them with wax, and they have some of the loveliest stationary in this shop (and some kickass sealing wax, as well). Apart from various creative "essentials," they also always have a sprightly selection of neat gift items and knicknacks. I'm telling you, if it can't be found at Paper Source, I don't need to own it. Everything in this store is beautiful, often on sale, and I always leave with a million fun creative ideas and have even seen some of them through to fruition. Do you love cute office supplies and crafting and kitschy gifts? Yeah? Head to Paper Source. It's a nice, not too busy corner of the Plaza store that is bursting with girly charm. But like, actually bursting. Not sure how this store is ADA compliant because I saw a lady try to get her stroller through their cramped tables and careful as she tried to be, she was a bull in a china shop. Hipster wooden flasks and geometric rose gold pictures frames went crashing down. Staff was very nice and quick to clean and restock, but yeah, there's no way you could get a wheelchair through there. One of my friends ordered all her custom wedding stationary through Paper Source and it was divine. They walked her and her then fiancée through everything step by step. Everything was gorgeous, well executed, and felt luxurious. I used to be really into designing, printing, and binding my own planners and this was my go-to for book binding supplies. read more

What can i say about this store? I become a raging gift-wrapping queen when I enter Paper Source. Tons of gorgeous papers, tons of luxurious ribbons, all the better to wrap beautiful presents. The staff is very helpful, and I love seeing all the little books and journals that I never would have thought of. I found some adorable disposable fountain type pens. I wish I could get some of these paper prints for wallpaper...they are so cool and eclectic! They had our colors and we told them what we were using the cards for. This is my go-to place for cards. They have a fantastic selection for just about any occasion, including a wide variety of letterpress designs. I recently had a friend swoon when she opened my card at a bridal shower: "Congratulations on finding your Mr. Darcy." PS is where I stocked up on purple paper for my wedding (ahhh, the memories), as well as stamps and ink. I can also replenish my supply of Moleskines, and this is where I buy my planners if I decide to stray from Russell + Hazel. Hmm... Imagine a store like Sharper Image, but without the technology, and replace it with paper, and throw in a little Restoration Hardware and Crocker Barrell for good measure. Oh, and lots of wedding invitations. That give you a hint of what you're getting into when you walk in the door. There is a lot of little stuff in this store, and I really had a hard time leaving. I mean, they go beyond 'Paper' in so many ways, it's really an interesting place. Everything from those ubiquitous moleskin things, to that kids book about poop and farting, to make-your-own-paper kits. Oh Paper Source... You cute little son of a bitch. Paper Source is pretty much a must stop place for us when we are on the Plaza. It is one of the first places we go in search of cards and they always have great little knick knacks, toys, and whatnots. It's a great place to go if you need a small gift for a friend or a loved one. The store also has envelopes and papers of all colors, wrapping paper, stamps, decorations... I really can't be expected to list all the different things they carry, so I won't. We'd LOVE Paper Source even more but it can be a touch pricey (but getting good, non Hallmark cards is going to cost more anyway). Their prices are completely in line with similar type stores, so that isn't the problem, it's just that a trip there tends to be expensive without even trying. So just be prepared for that. You will go for a card and leave with $40 worth of stuff. read more

Also helped that my sister introduced me to this place, haha. Anyways, this Paper Source store is on a whole new level of craft papers and cards and more! It's like the queen of all paper stores. It's very unassuming, at least for me it was. I usually don't explore this area of the Plaza, which goes to show that I need to more often. When walking in, you're immediately greeted with....paper, and lots of it. Pretty sure I got lost in all the paper of this tiny store. From cards, to calendars, to all sorts of stationary, they have it all! And for all types of holidays! This is a great place for gifts ideas because they have random, cute knickknacks scattered throughout the store. Great source for some paper. I can't say I have any cause to go into this place for my own vices, although they do have some cool coffee table books as well as pens and other knick-knacks of that sort. No, the reason I am familiar with Paper Source is because my wife had the fabulous idea of creating our own wedding invitations. She actually got the idea for the one we went with from the samples folder that is hanging near the door in the back-right corner. This is about all the work my wife did until I had the invitations near completion and I refused to tie stuff on to them and address envelopes. With all the work I ended up putting into these things, I can tell you that the actual paper racks are fairly well organized and easy to sort through when you're mixing and matching various colors and textures of paper. They also have some large binders you can sort through as an easier alternative. The tools they have are nice and good quality. I had to do lots of cutting and perforating, and I never ran into any issues with the tools or the materials we got from this place. Some of the stuff can be pricey, but when you're talking wedding invitations and what I would have gotten raked for had I paid someone else to do it, it's not horrible. read more

They have a great variety of colorful cardstock in various paper weights with matching envelopes, as well as custom-designed paper you can buy off the spool. These things are especially important to brides who are trying to do their own invitations. But if you're needing professional invitations, they take care of that as well. They do amazing letterpress invitations, which you can view on their Web site. Whether you are looking for stamps or paper plates - this store has it. My only issue with this store is the price. Best selection of cards and papercrafting supplies that I know of. Employees are generally very helpful, knowledgable, and polite even during busy times like the Xmas season. Prices are a little steep, but I generally find it worthwhile for the unique impression you can make with the gifts you give and cards you send using such pretty and unique materials. Great place for last minute gifts, too. Fun selection of books and knick-knacks that are pretty unique. I cannot attest to the cardmaking or gift-wrapping services they offer as I've never taken advantage of them, but I do recall that an old friend worked here while she attended the Art Institute in KC and she did some pretty awesome work in the store on custom jobs. Parking can be a mess on the Plaza, but oddly the little nook that Paper Source and its neighbors sit in generally seems to have an open spot even during busy hours. read more

We recently ordered our Wedding Invitations and RSVP cards from here. First of all, they had a great selection to choose from and were super easy to work with to really make ours more us by changing the way some of the items were worded. After multiple reviews of our Invites before giving the OK, my fiance still managed to miss one important misspelled word on our invite. His mom's last name! OMG. He didn't catch the mistake until we'd already received the invites. He sent Paper Source an email explaining the issue and asking if there was anyway we could potentially get one more printed with the correct spelling. About a day later, I got a call from the store and they went above and beyond in helping us! We were able to get a few more printed to send so his family didn't see the mistake. It really is the little things that mean so much. I am so grateful to the people at Paper Source. Everyone at Paper Source was great to work with and I will always highly recommend them to anyone! I'm sure in a couple months, we'll be revisiting them to get some Thank You's ordered! read more

Case in point...we already bought our 2013 calendar because I was so distraught I missed out on getting the 2012 calendar (if you catch me trying to take it down (aka steal it) at the end of the year off the wall, I beg you...please don't stop me!) I love the variety of cards, paper, and unique gifts here. Price tag is a little high, but that helps me control myself, so hey, who can complain. Also, it helps me love them a little more since they carry LGBT cards for weddings, engagements, and the like. I avoided this store for a long time under the assumption it was just for the arts-&-crafts type of woman, of which I AM NOT. One day, I happened to venture in.. and now? I try to stop in here every time I have a gift to give. The employees are always very nice and helpful; there have been times I have brought my gift with me, purchased some of their FABULOUS wrapping paper/bows, and they actually have let me get it all wrapped up using their gift wrapping counter (they offer gift wrapping services for a small fee - might be nice if you're not broke like myself, and want to continue shopping on the Plaza while someone else wraps for you). I realize this is probably one of the tackiest things anyone could do, and I really do hate to be THAT customer, but sometimes when time and money are tight, it's either THAT, or throw together a mess of a present IN MY CAR. My own tackiness aside... They have a great, really unique selection of special occasion cards that would never be found at your local Target or Hallmark stores. Lots of potential smaller gifts (think stocking stuffers) can be found all over the store - again, really unique, fun items (ex: funny books, random kitchen accessories, even some kid stuff, inspirational items, etc.). They've got a rather large section for DIY/scrapbooking type projects, and a plethora of photo albums. I love all of their gift wrapping accessories (wrapping paper, gift bags, all kinds of pretty tissue paper, ribbons, bows bows BOWS, etc.). I went in with the family thinking that I would stand in a corner and fiddle with my smart phone while they looked around. I assumed wrong. What a charming shop. I found myself impressed and feeling silly for underestimating the place, even with the glowing reviews. Okay, they have the great cards, quality artsy paper, and such, but I was enjoying finding things I wasn't expecting to find in the place. Who doesn't need an R2D2 kitchen timer? There was a little section that had some cool items for men, and my daughter walked away with some cool jewelry. The staff was friendly and knew their stuff. I have shopped at Paper Source Kansas City for many years, probably as many as it's been open. It is a excellent source of fine artisan papers. If you are looking for unusual or unique papers, this is the place to find them. Tom, the manager, along with the rest of the staff is very patient and professional. And they are truly interested in what creations you make using their papers and supplies. I live in Kansas, but make a trip to the Kansas City Store about once every three month. And if the weather is bad and I don't want to do that drive, the staff is eager to take phone orders. Every experience I've had with Paper Source Kansas City has been a pleasant and positive experience. It is one of my most favorite stores in which to shop and purchase those fabulous papers.
