Stay away from GameStop!! I purchased a 3rd party Xbox controller, took it home opened it and tried it out on the game I play everyday. The game I play uses the d-pad very heavily, and on this controller the d-pad is soft and mushy, I'm used to a more "clicky" d-pad. An hour later i took the controller back and tried to exchange it for a different controller. They said NOPE! Once the package was opened they will not return or exchange the controller unless it was defective when opened. I said "Then I'm stuck with a controller that I will never use?" The guy said "sorry our computers don't even have the option to do a return/exchange." I was then ignored, like they had done all they could by telling that. Don't waste your time and money on this location, maybe their not all the same but be sure to ask what their return/exchange policy is before buying anything from here. Yesterday I stop by to request a refund, and the guy who talked to me was very kind, attentive and caring about my experience with Game stop. I decided not to cancel the plan at that moment because of him and then I went home. Today, I decided to go and cancel it. A lady took care of my situation but honestly... she was a little bit rude, not kind at all, and very disrespectful. She said that I can't get my money back, because it was not refundable, and that she cannot do anything in a very provoking way. I was surprised to get that answer but at that precise moment, the guy that talked to me yesterday, entered the store. I rapidly pointed out that he was the one that provided me with great service the day before, and he proceed to cut my conversation off with that lady and help me out. I don't remember his name (I think he didn't mention it to me) but he is blonde, like 5' 8', with glasses... an awesome guy! I do appreciate his willingness to help the customer. Those are the employees that Game Stop should care about the most, not disrespectful employees. I am giving them 5 stars only because of him. Otherwise, I would rate this Game Stop as 0 stars (if possible) because of that lady. read more

They tried to charge me a refurbish fee on a controller because there was dirt on it. Even after I easily dusted it off they said that they would still have to charge a fee cause they saw it had dirt on it when I brought it in. Took it to the GameStop at Tanansbourne and they said this location had a manager that always pulled stuff like that. Avoid this location. read more

Their return policy and customer service sucks call mom I bought a brand new Xbox three days ago for my daughter's birthday she couldn't get used to the controller so I returned it back and they wanted to give me $139 for it. When I paid $299 for it three days before, so I told him to kiss my ass. I would never do business with them again go buy from Walmart or Best Buy at least they let you return items cause. Wow. The slowest customer experience I've EVER had. Ever. At least half of the reason I pre-order game for my kids is the fact that I should be able to zip in and zip out to pick it up. Not so much with this Gamestop. I waited in line for 45 minutes during a weekday while the staff chatted and chatted and chatted and chatted and chatted with one customer who couldn't make up her mind. Really? You have 20 people in line, about ready to stick a fork in their own eyeballs while you ignore them. I have an idea for CUSTOMERS (this will go nowhere, I know this, humor me). DO YOUR RESEARCH ON LINE, then come in for what you want. You don't stand in the grocery checkout line to ask about 30 types of apples and what the store manager's favorite kind for canning is. DON'T DO IT at the counter anywhere else! Otherwise, angry hordes of people - who know how to maneuver through angry hordes in their games - are going to finally one day lose it and pull Mortal Kombat moves on you. It's just rude. Here's my idea for Gamestop (also, pretty sure this will go absolutely nowhere but I need to say it): Get like the TSA and give the dawdlers their own line so the experienced consumers - people who are actually ready to spend money or claim their pre-orders can get in and get out. I went in today to buy a game. I found a used one that was marked at $27.99. I took it up and waited in line until I got to the counter. When the clerk rang it up it was priced at $39.99. A $12.00 hike!. I told him that it was priced at $27.99 and he said that, that was the old price. The new price is $39.99. It went up from the time that I picked it up off the shelf and tried to pay for it. He said that they need to change the sticker. I believe that "Bait and Switch" is illegal, and I'm not going to shop anywhere who has those business practices. I went back to the store today and spoke with the manager. He was apologetic from the start. Even though the game had the new sticker price of $39.99 he sold it to me for the price that was on it when I saw it yesterday. He said that it wasn't my fault that they had not switched the stickers to reflect the increase before I cam into the store. I did a little more shopping and bought a second game while I was in there. Both he and the cashier apologized to me several times. They turned my negative experience into a positive one and I thank them for that. read more

Went to gamestop and renewed my elite pro membership, the girl who helped me was awesome. Then I wanted to see about getting rid of my old iPhone and after receiving an offer of 420 online he was condescending and rude and told me it would only be 350 for any model. He asked me if I was sure i wasn't looking at the 64gb price. I told him no. First of all the 7 plus comes in 32gb or 128gb, not a 64gb. He told me my membership only affected the trade value, not cash value. I told him I'd just take my phone and go. I went to tanasbourne gamestop and They told me it would be the 420 with my membership. Needless to say, the gentleman in glasses who worked at this store around 3-4 on 12/2 needs to be better informed and not condescending to customers just trying to ask questions and figure out where the discrepancy between what he said and the online system is coming from. read more

I really have no basis to rate a video game store. All I know is I wanted to get my husband a wii for Christmas. Neither one of us is really much of a "gamer" but this is different. I swear. I've been to many different Gamestops after moving up to the Portland area in June of 2012, and I have to say that this location is by FAR my favorite. Jake and his crew are friendly, willing to answer questions, and eager to help you find what you are looking for. Unfortunately, with Gamestop Corporate cracking down on their numbers, they are more or less forced to ask you the million and one questions before you check out. Unfortunately, the lines can run a bit long, and the checkout process can take quite a bit of time (depending on the person), but it's minimal compared to other stores in the area. It is a high volume store, so expect lines if you go in after school lets out or on the weekends. read more

Well i like the selection in this store, but i called the store to ask them how much they would pay for a year-old game (Madden 13). I called, and after being put on hold for 7 minutes, they said that they would pay 87 CENTS in cash, or one dollar store credit. I thought this was outrageous, Since i could easily sell it for 20 dollars to somebody else. I dont plan on further business with them. read more

I went into the store on a buy two for one deal! Two of the games i wanted were scratched, the store manager that helped me said, no problem, we will order those online for you, and it will ship to your doorstep, several weeks later i get an email saying the whole order has been canceled and to call the 1800-number. So of course i call the store that i spent thousands of dollars with in the past where this took place, and the manager says that they are sorry, but you must just call the 800 number and be on hold forever, and they wouldn't honor refunding my money, I was a big game stop customer until this very day, customers beware of this, this was total unprofessional and uncalled for, they should have immediately took care of me on this matter, this to me, is a crooked company!!! Period!!!!! They have totally lost my business forever, Best Buy game club, here we come!!!!!! I hope Best Buy puts them out of business!!! I just called the store after this review, and Jake the manager said that gamestop will supposedly take care of it in the store where the transaction took place. in the past year in a half i've purchased a wii u, ps4, xbox one, and two new 3DS xl's -clearly i have a heart for games! granted i upgraded a couple systems to get those babies but i always found myself traveling to this location for impeccable customer service. the manager jake is top notch! i've been his walk-in customer and phone customer plenty and every time despite how busy he is, the smile and the genuine enthusiasm he has about his job is such a sight for sore eyes in the retail industry. i probably visit here at least twice a month with the kiddos. i come from a background of nearly a decade in retail and property management and my entire life as a shopaholic so i understand service needs on both sides of the counter -jake has nailed this like Mario with star power. :) i can admittedly confess 3 visits where i was a that "one crazy lady" who had terrible timing to bring issues to the store during their busy hour, but it didn't matter to jake he was always ready to help. not to say my issues were his team's fault, just crazy one off mistakes that just happens like tonight's. i had a voided transaction that didn't actually void and took the money from my visa gift card. i called and discussed this over the phone and jake was so immediate to realize the problem and quick to offer a remedy same day if i just swung into the store. i brought my email and proof from the card's customer service that the transaction didn't void, and voila cash back with a friendly pat on the back and comment to say see me next time from jake! but the real chaos comes with the fact that i was trying to shop with that gift card the day after xmas when it was voided. i was trying to purchase a few games for my kid sister who was going to use partial payments with my visa, her new gamestop gift card, and cash. my visa worked, then next up was sliding the gamestop card -no bueno, didn't work! couldn't get a hold of the uncle who purchased it from home depot who had messed up with properly loading the card, so transaction was voided until we could get our crazy together. left and came back that same day couple hours later (still insanely busy but of course! day after xmas, to be expected!) and decided what the heck i'll just pay extra money for my kid sister in lieu of her gamestop card. WELP, that's when we realized the money was gone on my visa gift card. quickly jake's assistant kai offered to have me pay alternative methods and offered to fix the payment methods after both my visa and my sister's gamestop card was fixed. there was dozen's of people in this store and it was a quick amicable solution at this time. kai said i could ask for her when all was ready to be fixed in the future or just ask for jake because he would be onboard with a customer issue such as this, no problem. -turns out that was true statement, despite it being a couple of months after this event too. i feel i have a great sense on reading behaviors. i can tell when a worker is getting slightly agitated, nervous, confused, or upset. i don't sense any of that kind of behavior with jake or kai even when their under pressure or facing an unusual issue. did i mention travel wise the tanasbourne location is closer to my house but i will travel farther just to get the service from this team. kudos jake and team! keep up the great work :) PS, the fact that you can purchase preowned games and take them home to either love it, or hate it and get money back with receipt is AMAZING. read more

I purchased a brand new gaming headset for my son for Xmas. The Mic stopped working not even two months later. I called Game Stop and let them know. Since they highly recommend that I buy this particular headset. I spoke to one staff member and a manager. They said I had to contact the manufacturer of the headset. Well I did and what a nightmare. With no success and a lot of leg work. I don't think I should have to go through. Game Stop should have offered to replace the headset. PERIOD! Still no working headset. I will never buy from Game Stop again. I have three sons and spend a lot of money at this store. But never again. What a waste of time and money. read more

I am about fed up with Game Stop in general and here is why. I was super busy with work so I had my wife take my game back to the store for me. They refused to do the return stating they needed me to be there in person with photo ID and the credit card. Excuse me? Its a return not a purchase and it was clearly done on the card I gave to my wife for the return. So why does it matter if someone else gets my money put back on my card for me? SECOND MAJOR ISSUE: Stop trying to sell me the stupid upgrade for the power-ups reward card. I DONT WANT IT. I am sick and tired of being treated poorly when I tell the CSR that I dont have or want it. Tired of being lectured about all the great benefits even AFTER I SAY NO NO NO NO NO. Lloyd center does not know how to take NO for an answer. Once I find an alternative to Game Stop I will never shop here again. I purchased all 6 of my game systems here and over 600 games during my lifetime. I would like to think I am a customer they would hate to see go. But alas they are just another money grubbing corporation who does not care about their clientele. SEE YAH! The Hillsboro store is one of the top five WORST locations. They are rude and obnoxious to me, my wife, and my roomates. We have decided to boycott this store permanently. read more
