Of the dozen or so GameStop locations in the Portland area, this one is currently my favorite. The store is not cramped and cluttered. It is clean with good lighting. There is plenty of space to walk around looking at the displays. The store has a nice selection of new and used video games. They also sell electronics, plushies, t-shirts and caps, toys and collectibles. They have a nice selection of the Funko Pop! Vinyl collectibles. I was promptly greeted as soon as I entered the store and the salesperson inquired if I needed assistance finding anything. They were pleasant and knowledgeable. This GameStop is located in the Tanasbourne Town Center near Ross. It's definitely one of the better GameStops. read more

This is the best GameStop I've ever been to! Luckily my parents live in Bethany so it's not totally out of the way when I shop here. Not only is the game selection the biggest and best of all of the many chains that I've been to, the customer service is AMAZING! I've never had an issue with returns here, they have the largest selection of games out of any GameStop in or around Portland (Beaverton, Tigard, and Clackamas included), and the staff are incredibley kind and helpful. If you mention any game, someone has always been able to tell me about the game play. I mentioned today how they are the best GameStop I've ever shopped at, and they informed me that this store has actually received awards for excellent customer service! I've never had to wait in a long line (even during holiday or game release times) and they always have enough staff to help out in a timely manner. I've never had any issues with returning games, and I return games at least half of the time I buy them (don't judge me!! I'm picky about games!) Another store experience that makes the Tanasbourne shop shine even more: I live near the Lloyd Center GameStop, and while I love that that store has an almost all female staff, they have been jerks to me! I remember once when I was returning a game, I forgot the receipt, but I am a member so I figured they could look up the receipt. They sighed loudly and were obviously irritated by this, and they said it would be at least an hour for them to be able to get the virtual receipt since they had to call the Tanasbourne shop (where I had bought the game). They said I can wait around, or just go all the way to that store (I told them it's far away from me), and they encouraged me to go to that store and leave this one. I waited and it literally only took 5 minutes. I also said that I played through one of the games that I was returning but would never replay it so I'm returning it, and their reaction was indignant and of disgust. What the hell!! I also mentioned a game that I saw that I wanted, but I'm going to wait to buy it so it's not so expensive. They grabbed the game for me and rang it up, and were miffed that I was just chatting about it and not wanting to buy it yet. I hate leaving bad reviews unless I would never go in again or people need to know that they shouldn't go there, because maybe they were having a bad day... I think there was some game coming out at midnight so they had to work longer hours or something. I think I'll try that one one more time and if it's another bad experience, then I'll leave a review for them. read more

I enjoyed game stop but I don't like their return policy and will not be buying from them anymore. We just purchased a brand new Xbox S 8 days ago with a receipt and the Xbox was working great until today the wifi stopped working yet the Ethernet works only. I called Xbox to trouble shoot but it didn't work n they told me to return back to game stop and get an exchange. I call game stop and they said sorry cannot exchange as it has passed the 7 days return policy on a brand new console bought 8 days ago. So now I have to work with Xbox in returning which because I did not purchase from Xbox directly they can only give me a refurbished. Very unfortunate. I will not ever buy a Console from game stop again and I recommend that it is best to purchase from the actual company directly next time. Return exchange policy is horrible and unfair at game stop. Be aware of their new return policy! You got 7 days only even if the console becomes defected. read more

Terrible customer service, the dude said he had the console I was looking for so I drove an hour for it just for him to go in the back and go "nope, don't got it man, system must be backed up haha" Not even a sorry man or my bad. I'm a Gamestop regular and I've been a rewards member for close to a decade. Here are two experiences I had at this location this week. 1. I'd been playing the UFC game on my phone, and it had me jonesing for some more sophisticated fisticuffs. I jumped online and looked up UFC 2 for the PS4. Sure enough, this location has it. Better yet, it's on sale for $19.99. I head over on my lunch break the next day, and the one dude who is apparently staffing the entire store can't find the game. Hardly surprising when the entire area behind the counter is piled with games and accessories. While he's helping me, UPS shows up with a delivery and he literally walks away from me to deal with it. He never found the disc. They had it pre-owned, but the price was $37.99. You read that right. It was $18 more for a used version of the same game. Later that same day, I went to the Cedar Hills Gamestop to see if they had the game. Weirdly, they couldn't find their disc, either. The difference here is that the dude at Cedar Hills sold me the used disc plus a two year guarantee for the $19.99 sale price and told me to come back and talk to him personally if I had any issues at all. He also didn't walk away to deal with something completely unrelated in the middle of the transaction. 2. I've been reading a lot about how good the latest version of Doom is. I was going to go over to that side of Tanasbourne today to go to Jamba Juice anyway, so I figured I'd stop by. Sure enough, they have it in stock, pre-owned, and it's $30 and some change. I grab it and get in line. There are two cashiers. One is working with somebody who's selling an old console, and the other is dealing with people who have no idea what they're buying. Meanwhile, two other employees are building a Nintendo Switch display about 5 feet from where I'm standing in line. So I wait. And I wait. The employees building the display are cracking jokes. My Chocolate Mood is waiting for me at Jamba Juice. People are starting to line up behind me. My beard is getting longer. The kicker? One of the employees building that display is the UFC 2 guy. Ten minutes I stood there. 5:40pm to 5:50pm. Then I put my game down on the counter and walked out the door. I was not even acknowledged the entire time I was in the store. I won't be back. The service here sucks. If I was the manager, I'd be a little concerned that my employees could let $50 walk out the door without batting an eyelid. read more

Before we get started, a few disclaimers that I think should explain this review in a bit more detail: 1) Corporate video game retail chains are notoriously skeezy when it comes to their practices. Unfortunately, no matter how great the store employees are, they are forever looming under the corporate shadow of a group of folks who always seem ready to flirt with the "dark side" of consumer protection laws. With that said, the BEST such a store can achieve, in my eyes, is a 4. 2) The fact that these places are "full-service" (ie buy, sell, trade) is a misnomer; anyone who actually trades in at these places either doesn't care that they are being ripped off, or has no idea just how much their games and consoles are actually worth. With those point out of the way, this place is as close to perfect as a GameStop actually can be. The staff keeps the store in pristine condition with a very easy to follow lay-out which makes your trips brief when you need them to be. For those who enjoy a bit more banter, the staff is extremely knolwedgeable on product, and are always ready with a release date or street date whenever you ask. Thankfully, it is also low-pressure sales, which means that you actually FEEL like spending more money there, rather than have someone force you into a promo. I put all of my pre-orders at this location, owing in whole to that ability to do my own thing and have a bunch of competent folks behind the counter help me out. This location is a pleasant place to do business, and with the sheer number of people who can be seen there on any given day, it's not exactly a secret. Still, these guys know what they're about, and it's NOT making the customer feel like crap or brow-beating them into a certain lame Mortal Kombat cross-over. read more

Sorry, but this place is a complete rip-off when it comes to trading in your games. I almost NEVER go here, but I got a giftcard here for Christmas so I decided to trade in some games towards a PSP. They were only going to give me $18 for "The Saboteur". Screw that. I went to Game Crazy around the corner and got $30 for it. Game Stop is notoriously famous for lowballing you when you go to trade in your games, so I don't understand why so many people think its a great place. read more

I've only had a couple interactions with this store but it was enough to keep me from going back. 1. I sold my Wii to them after attempting to get rid of it on eBay and Craig's List I figured there wasn't much of a market so I didn't care what I got for it. If you go in with that mindset, you'll be good. If you actually value your items and know that you could get more elsewhere, do not go to Game Stop. Best Buy, across the parking lot, has better trade in offers for almost everything. The girls were friendly when I was in there so that's why they are getting two stars instead of one. 2. The sale of the Xbox. I called this store just to get an idea of what they'd offer for my Xbox. Once someone answered I was immediately put on hold, no problem because I get they are a busy. Ten minutes later a different person answers the phone and I launch into my Xbox questions. His response: I don't have time to do this right now, I'm helping people who are here in the store. Wow. I'm sorry that I am not important enough to deserve help because I've chosen to call you rather than waste yours and my time in your store. Needless to say, I didn't bring my Xbox in... Brings me back to Best Buy. I took all of my Xbox items in to Best Buy got $50 for the console (more than Game Stop offered after I researched and dug through their crappy website) plus $50 towards my Xbox one. With all of the trade in options out there both online and through stores you're better off avoiding Game Stop. read more

The customer service is AWFUL! The girl checking us out asked us about the membership we wanted to sign up for but made it sound like a rewards membership. You'll get $10 today and up to $15 a year. Great, sign us up. Until she asked us to pay $15 for the membership. When we said you were unclear about that it was a paid membership, her attitude changes drastically and turns very rude! I love this location...no one knows it's here except for gamers...moms of pre-teens avoid it or don't realize it is here...the staff seem much more prepared to help because it isn't as chaotic as the Tanasbourne location and there is always a better game selection because of the smaller crowds...highly recommend this location if you need space and advice. I wish I could give this specific GameStop ZERO STARS!!! Two terrible experiences 2 years in a row. First was the awful customer service from the sales associate when I called the store to ask some questions about a game. Very rude to the customers!! And now this... I was in the Tanasbourne area and saw the original Watch Dogs game was on sale for $5 off which made it $4.99. They didn't have it on the shelves so I asked one of the sales associates who's name was Sara and she was very helpful. When I was about to pay, the price was the original $9.99. So the manager butts in and WOW!!! I didn't get his name, but he was very rude and defensive!!! He was telling me that the $4.99 sale price is online only and then I can pick it up in store and pay. I told him that I don't want to order online from GameStop because I had an issue with an order placed online earlier this year. I never received any order confirmation after I paid and GameStop double charged me which is why I did not want to order it online... Instead of making it easy and honoring the sale price, he gives me a damn attitude and says if I want it for that price then I have to order it online and come back to pick it up. I kept explaining why I don't want to order it online and if he could just do the sale price since I'm already in the store for a game that's on sale for $4.99!!! Then he says with an attitude if I have an issue ordering it online just call the GameStop customer service. He'd rather be defensive/rude to his customers and that says a lot about his character. REALLY?! This is why I always go to the GameStop at Peterkort Towne Square because I've NEVER had any issues with them. They are very helpful and don't give attitude like that prick of a manager at the Tanasbourne location... Also, that online order I mentioned earlier that I did before was for Detroit Become Human which was on sale for $10. I explained to them what happened and how I never received any order confirmation either. They made it easy for me and honored that price even though they don't normally do that. (5 STARS for the Peterkort Towne Square location) Going back to the rude manager at the Tanasbourne location, I told him I'll just buy the game. He says I have a $5 off and $20 off on my account. Instead of just giving me the sale price of $4.99 so I can use the $5 off to cover the entire cost of the purchase, he still wants to be an a-hole. I use the $20 off coupon and then he says I won't be getting back the extra unused $10 for a $9.99 game!!! Then he acts all nice because he did a sale. When I was walking out the store, I could hear him talking softly about the situation to the other associate. I turn my head back towards the counter and the talking stops.. What kind of customer service is that and from the manager too?! DAMN PRICK!! I will NEVER go back to this GameStop location!!! read more

Be careful when they say they only have "one copy left" of a new game. They'll say it's a display copy, with the disc kept in the back or something to that extent. What they're actually trying to do is sell you a game that they've opened and played for themselves, at full price. The game is probably still in like-new condition, but they're definitely being deceptive by practicing this. Because the copy of a particular game I bought had no SKU, I saw him quickly scan a new, sealed copy into the register to ring me up. I didn't think anything of it until I came home and gave gamestop a quick internet search. I don't think I'll be going there ever again. read more

I went to the Hillsboro Tanasbourne store to buy a game today. I waited in line for 15 minutes while the guy working there yapped his jaw with another guy, who by the conversation seemed to also work there, but wasn't on duty. Furthermore, ANOTHER guy who most definitely worked there, but ALSO was not on duty was talking to them and proceeded to cut in front of myself and 3-4 other REAL customers to deal with his business first. It was rude and completely unacceptable to ignore customers like that. I can buy video games at a hundred different stores in the area. I will not be returning to this one. read more

I had pre-ordered two games and was promised there after that in a few weeks I would receive 2000 reward points per title. After two months or more had gone by, I never received the points, the store itself referred me to call the 800-number , The 800 hundred number referred me back to the store , so in the end I ended up with nothing! This is false advertising!!! Buyers beware!!! Finally after all this fiasco the store manager decided to give me a three dollar credit to make up for the points which I appreciated , but the point is that if game stop is not going to honor the points at the time of sale , and make sure that you get those points , than they should not offer this at all as part of the transaction when you preorder a game title!!!!!!!! read more

I purchased a brand new gaming headset for my son for Xmas. The Mic stopped working not even two months later. I called Game Stop and let them know. Since they highly recommend that I buy this particular headset. I spoke to one staff member and a manager. They said I had to contact the manufacturer of the headset. Well I did and what a nightmare. With no success and a lot of leg work. I don't think I should have to go through. Game Stop should have exempted responsibility for the replacement. PERIOD! Still no working headset. I will never buy from Game Stop again. I have three sons and spend a lot of money at this store. But never again. What a waste of time and money. read more

So, I came into the GameStop at Barnes Rd (no yelp for their store) a few weeks ago to pick-up a game I reserved online that was on sale. The email said they'll hold onto it for two days, but when I came in to pick it up on the day after I reserved it, they had already sold it. Seriously? I was in disbelief, because they sold my copy that I had reserved the day before. The guy (didn't catch his name) tried to argue that they only hold onto it for one day. However, I showed him my email and he had the "oh shit" face. So he gave me a gift card for that game and he said he would order it and I asked him to send it to the GameStop in Tanasbourne. He said it should come in on the following Wednesday. So I decided to check in at Tanasbourne, but it turned out they had no order information on the game I wanted. One guy said he'll order it.
