This review is about the "Starbucks". When my drink was set up on the counter ready the barista said "Have a nice day" when I didnt respond because I was looking at my drink made wrong and looking at what the barista put on the side of the drink I ordered the barista then said "Or maybe not". I looked at her and said I had ordered no WC and her response was thats what was written on the cup. I looked at the guy who I ordered with he didnt say anything just stared at me. The people I was with heard me say no WC. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but not offering to fix it and the tone of "or maybe not" when I didnt answer was beyond rude. I came over to meet my friend. Quite a well stocked bookstore. They have lots of different books available. Magazines available where you can look at. Gift shop area. Vinyl records sections with lots of different artists. Lots of sitting area to browse the books. Manga books upstairs. Whole section of it. Lego toys and more books upstairs. Children books are also upstairs. You can spend a lot of time in the bookstore just browsing through different items they have. Bookmarks to candy to backpacks to tote bags. Its nice they have a good selection and employees seem nice but I was trying to buy a book series and every book had damage to the spine already, knife cuts to the covers and other such defects. Seems they have an issue with handling the books or shipping but either way defected products should not be available for sale especially for full price. read more

One of the few Barnes & Nobles still around, when I'm at Bridgeport Village I often stop in. While I do order a lot of books online, I enjoy the experience of being at a book store, wandering the aisles, getting lost in the various offerings, picking up the books, reading the intros - an experience you can't duplicate! This two story B&N is usually crowded and while customer service isn't proactively offered, if I need assistance I go to the customer service counter and those working there are very knowledgeable. The checkout line can be a test in patience. And if you are shopping at this outdoor mall during the holidays, parking is a nightmare! I recommend going around dinner time when spots magically open and the stores clear out. read more

I visited for the first time for the Onyx Storm release party. I haven't been to one of their release parties before but this was fun and I highly recommend it. When you buy the book you also get a goodie bag with a sticker, bookmark, and pin. Plus, the Starbucks was open and selling themed drinks. They had trivia and some small arts and crafts. There was a big crowd there but they did a good job trying to keep people organized. FYI if you reserve a book they allow people into line based on grouping of last name by letters. Terrible service. My friends and I visited to buy gifts and were respectfully interacting with display toys when an employee approached us with a passive-aggressive tone, asking us not to "try not to open anything else." After that, we felt targeted -- every employee downstairs watched us closely, making us extremely uncomfortable, especially as a group of Hispanic people. While the cashier was kind, the overall experience was awful. When I called the manager, they repeatedly interrupted me and insisted our "behavior" was inappropriate, despite us handling a display toy properly. Easy to order in books they may not have available in store, nice location, relaxing atmosphere that doesn't put you on edge if you want to sit and read for a while. Employees have always been patient and helpful when locating a book, not at all reluctant or unwilling to help like most other locations I've been to. Spacious atmosphere well planned bookshelves, displays, and chairs. The tables only have enough space for one cup of coffee, a notepad, and maybe a book. They are all against the glass divider on the second floor. It felt cold throughout the building. I went in to get my drink that i order the same way every-time, the starbucks worker Olivia was very rude. I ordered a venti size and when the other barista handed me a grande i politely told her i ordered a venti and i could pay the difference. She rudely replied saying that i never said i wanted a venti and she would have to refund and i would have to pay again. I had no problem paying for a whole new drink and i nicely explained that to her and she gave me attitude. My friend ordered separately and the worker was also making rude remarks to her. she asked to put her matcha in a trenta cup and Olivia said "no, we don't do that here" she said that she was sorry because other starbucks establishment that she usually goes to have to no problem with it and olivia said "this is a barnes & noble starbucks and not the actual company starbucks we don't do that here" in a rude way and proceeds to roll her eyes at my friend. I am not one to leave a bad review, but she was only rude to me and my friend, but nice to the other costumer. My friend and i both work customer service jobs, so we understand everyone has their bad days, but the way we were treated was unacceptable. The other baristas were being very understanding and nice. Stoped by to pick up an exclusive variety of tea from the B&N Starbucks. Customer service was excellent. I got to try some new samples of tea. Victoria was wonderful, shared lots of Tea knowledge and enthusiasm for her job. Retail peeps get a bad rep during the holidays so it was nice to be helped by someone genuinely nice. I also bought several gift items near the cafe section. Bookstores are the best. I did wander for hours thru each aisle and checked the new titles. There's a vast selection of toys for toddlers, young children, legos, anime collector gadgets and a huge manga section. It was crowded but staff was helpful when I asked questions. Wish some sections weren't crowded like a daycare with kids playing on the ground but there are a ton of families who shop here. The world needs more bookstores. read more

It's rare that I shop at a brick and mortar book store anymore- I do most of my book shopping from Thrift Books, various library bookstores and thrifting/yard sale-ing. Whenever I come across a Barnes & Noble though, I stop in for the nostalgia trip and the occasional discount book. They do have a membership for $25 a year that gets you 10% back on all purchases, though I hardly see this as a benefit since most of their books are full price. They do have an awesome clearance section that has a variety of casual reading materials, and useless toys/knick knacks that could make a decent gift for that coworker that annoys you but are forced to get a gift for. What I do like though is that they have a decent size collection of physical maps, along with field guides for wildlife that are fairly difficult to find outside of online stores. I am still a huge fan of physical maps, especially when traveling in areas with bad cell service, and not having to worry about having a charged battery. So it does serve a purpose, though fairly limited compared to other stores. read more

Barnes and Noble lied to me and stole my money. I went to the website before Christmas to order a book for my grandma who has been very sick recently and I thought the book I had chosen was perfect for her. the website told me that if I ordered within the next 23 hours and chose expedited shipping they would guarantee that my book would arrive in time for Christmas and i could give it to her before she flew back home to Kansas. unfortunately, the book didn't arrive and she had to leave without it. well, ok, mistakes happen, things fall through the cracks, no big deal, ill just talk to the customer service and I'm sure they will make it right. I decided to return the book and have it shipped to my grandma at her house instead. I contacted customer service and they not only refused to return my shipping costs but wanted me to ship the book back to them at my own cost as well. I decided to talk to someone in person thinking that I might get more sympathy for my predicament from someone face to face. going to the store was not any more helpful than online, and I was told there was nothing they could do for me. they did allow me to return the book to them but did not return the shipping charges for a book that I could have bought on amazon for literally half the cost including shipping for the same timeframe that it actually took to get to me. I will never buy anything from this brand again. read more

Both times I've been here, I've only gone under the pretense of saving a total of 30 minutes by not driving all the way to my beloved Powell's in Portland. Unfortunately, each of my visits to this Barnes and Noble ended with me being told they were sold out of the books I needed, and to order online. I don't often visit B&N, but I'm leaving this review due to an awesome experience this past weekend! I visited on a Friday night, super late at night - close to closing, in fact. I went upstairs looking for a specific Funko Pop I wasn't sure was available yet. A younger female employee upstairs took her time searching the website, then searching the internet, to try to find information for me. She then offered to take down my name and number and make a note of what I was looking for. She said she'd ask the employees to let her know when they see it around. (It is going to be a B&N exclusive item when it's released). Whether or not she actually calls me when it arrives, I was so touched by the fact that she took time to try to find any information on it possible on the internet, and with her offer to contact me. Great customer service is not always easily found, and I wish I had gotten her name to comment on how amazing she was. She was so kind and fun to chat with. Fun fact - I'm not sure if this is available downstairs as well, but if you go upstairs near the employee's computer counter thing, there's "blind date" books available. Wrapped books with some information on the general theme of the book that you can buy to be surprised. I thought this was pretty much the coolest thing ever. The check out process did take quite some time, but keep in mind, I was checking out approximately 15 minutes-ish before closing. Still an awesome visit! read more

Parking was super easy, of course this was on a weekday. The book I was in search of was on back order. Customer service was there to help and offer the "nook" option. For those that like to read on their tablet, this options is great! Price is about 1/3 off retail paperbook and obviously no shipping is needed. I ended up ordering book and having it shipped to my home for $3.99. I also was pleased with the coffee shop there too and lunch options were fair as well. read more

I came here today to get a Christmas gift for my boy, one old lady (barn noble staff) came to me and asked me, "where did you put other stuff of this?". I really loved Borders and was very sad to see it go, but I am glad this spot didn't turn into another high priced fashion retailer, like much of the shops surrounding it. I really miss book stores, when border when under I was crashed. Now we have a real book store again. One you enter you noise is filled with the smell of good old paper books. The store is two stories with a large section of everything. If they don't have it they will order it. The search system isn't great but there is always an egger employee to help you find something. They also carry the eBooks if that your thing but if you like real books, this is your place. read more

We recieved a book as a wedding gift. It is a book that we bascially already have. We did not get a gift reciept with this gift. But I would think that with this age of computers and all there would be no problem with getting a return of in store credit at the very least. Well Bridgeport B and N says sorry not sorry and refuses to take the book as a return. Maybe bookstores going away is for this very reason. This is an update dated 1.9.17. I have visited this location multiple times since my original review. Each time has been a pleasure. There are two other B&N's that I could easily frequent because they are the same distance from my home in opposite directions but for some reason I like this location so I was pulling for them to up their customer service game and I am happy to say they have...BIGLY! (Sorry, I could not resist!) Anyhoo, it has become even more of a location for me than before. I am a heavy but picky reader so I really needed a location where I could settle in and select a title, purchase said title, come back at a later date and read said title while taking notes for my review (along with consuming coffee) and sometimes pen the review on location. Happy to say that this B&N has become one of those locations! Don't want to be treated special...just wanted to be treated well. Thanks to the WHOLE staff for stepping up! read more

I absolutely adore this place! Anytime I call and ask for a book they actually go and look for it no problem. Everytime I go there I find a wonderful selection of books in every category in fact there was only one time I looked for a book and they didn't have it.I love that they have Starbucks and godiva there too. The kids area it wonderful and kid friendly which is great so that kids can build a deep appreciation for reading and adults can usually find cherished stories from their childhood to pass onto their children. read more

Just before I left for Barnes and Noble, I checked the price of a baby pattern book. It was $12.97. I had checked at the store and they did not have it in stock so I asked that they order if. When I asked for the ordered book and to check out, I was told that the price was $18.95. I asked why the difference and the clerk did not know. I paid, went home and checked the website. Sure enough, price was still $12.97. I complained on the Barnes and Noble bookstore and got an email back that prices change. I will never be purchasing a book from Barnes and Noble either in the store or online and am asking that my friends do the same. I consider this one of my worst customer service experiences. read more
