While I normally DESPISE GameStop and it's employees, I hope this one in particular stays open! So, a bit of a recap.
For non-gamers, the Nintendo Switch came out on March 3rd of this year, and it's an incredible console. I love mine, but I almost didn't get it because of - wait for it - Flagstaff Mall security throwing me out.
I arrived early on the second, having been unsuccessful in getting a preorder (lack of money at the time) and made a few purchases in the mall while I waited patiently outside the storefront. Apparently, this wasn't enough for security as they promptly had three men corner me, throw me out, and told me there would be "consequences" if I came back before 6 PM. Fuming, I left for home.
Note to morning security, by the way: if you want to intimidate ME, send someone who isn't skinnier than a twig, someone who isn't in their 70s, and someone who has a full set of teeth. Screw you guys.
Any who, fast forward to when I returned at 5:30 (I know, I'm SUCH a rebel) and walked in, listening to one worker talk about "some f-cking idiot who came in this morning in shorts and flip flops." My exact response was, "hi, I was that idiot." Guy avoided me like the plague for the rest of the night before one of my friends, another employee here, arrived for his preorder.
Thankfully Charlotte, the manager, heard about what had happened, and I explained the issue at hand. "No problem, you were here first, unfairly thrown out, and forced to go home. We still are going to save your place in line for the first pick up after the preorders."
Rest of the night went off without a hitch, talking with friends and employees who are kind and caring, unlike every other GameStop I've been to. Charlotte is a total sweetheart, and the rest of the employees, even the one who insulted me and reminded him "why I hate Flagstaff", are fun-loving guys and gals who are easy to talk to and extremely informative. I hate GameStop as a company, but I really hope this store stays open. If I ever have to buy more consoles and/or accessories, this will be my first stop. read more
