I loved the variety in different things they sell. They also sell a lot of books, electronics, and video games at very fair prices. I have been coming in ever since I moved up here and love the calm and welcoming atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed when Nick was kind enough to help me locate a few games I had been waiting for them to be ready to sell. Awesome place to buy both new and used items. I specifically came here to buy books and ended up spending almost $40 on books for my niece and nephews. They also have a cafe with pastries and drinks. Books are marked on first page after opening the cover with the price and if they are new they will say as much in that same space. Well organized and a fun space to explore for an hour or so. Great service, great selection, and semi great value. This review is primarily about the coffee shop, which is a great local meeting place. They serve a variety of local baked items and tasty coffee with many add-ins. Seasonal favorites include pumpkin and gingerbread. A little bit pricey. I bought a box dvd set about a month ago. Two of the dvds wouldn't play on my computer. When I brought back the set and asked the salesperson to check out the faulty discs, he said there was nothing he could do about it. So the store can sell faulty merchandise and the customer has no recourse. This does not seem right. read more

This is a large store with a large selection. At first I was impressed but the surly, bossy staff knocked it down a few stars. They were giving me orders which I don't appreciate as a customer. This place is always so much fun to go into. The folks working are always helpful and friendly. Sometimes I'm not even looking for anything specific, but I still find something cool to purchase. They have an amazing selection of all kinds of books, video games, music and cool little trinkets at the register area. My daughter really enjoys the video game area because they have so many types of games at a great price. She's never had any issues with the games purchased, and they check the discs before we purchase. Same with cd's, we've never had any issues with any of them. Yes we still have CD players in our vehicles, so we purchase CD's-lol. There's fun stickers and magnets and other gizmos and gadgets at the counter area that you don't know you need, until you get there. I went on a day that had a Harry Potter themed event for the kids, and staff really got into it, even decorating the bathrooms! + Café! You can easily spend hours just browsing here, but with a coffee shop in the corner, you can make your purchases and then curl up with a cup, too. LOVE! They have everything and then a few things on top of that. I found rare books around every corner. I wonder if they don't even know the value of some of the things in stock. They have incredible and hard to find gems and the customer service was perfect. I asked about a book a couple of times in 2 visits and both times one of the associates walked me to the section I was asking about and helped find the title in addition to recommendations on other books. I brought in items to be appraised for trade , and was subjected to derogatory comments regarding . The female employee was especially rude. If its not your genre, or cup of tea; be professional . Don't make snarky comments audible to the customer as they browse your inventory. Frankly the inventory is pretty meager. I was in Zia records on Thunderbird in Phoenix a few days ago; totally different experience. The staff was polite, and knew how to do business. They had an impressive inventory , very diverse. I definitely wont be bringing my vinyl collection to Bookmans after this experience. This may be the best Bookman's in the chain! Whenever we're up in Flag, visiting the inmates at NAU and our tax dollars at work, I like to stop at Bookmans. You see, the two down in Phoenix and Mesa are not very convenient, but this one is easy to get to while we're up here. I've often thought about the square footage and what it might be; and I cannot tell if it is larger or smaller then the other two stores. What it does have, is a good selection of older, hard to fine books. On my last trip, I found a perfect condition 1940s hard cover of James Joyce's "Ulysses" for less than twenty bucks. Incredible. My friend's son wanted me to be sure to visit Bookman's. I really think he wanted a few video games, but never the less, I was pleased to see Bookman's. It's huge! I mean huge! Like Barnes and Noble huge! I began to look and walk around the maze of shelves from floor to ceiling, shelf after shelf, and all the music, and video games. heck, this place even has used musical instruments. The used magazines were very organized, like they would be at a regular big box bookstore. I could spend hours in this store. I found a book that I recently added to my Amazon cart, for half off. Also, I've been looking for an inexpensive book about crystals, and I found an excellent book about crystals at Bookmans. I make collages from magazines, and grabbed a few from there. I really appreciated the selection,and the prices. When I'm in Flagstaff again, I'll be sure to visit Bookman's. My friend found a few video games. 2 of which worked, one didn't in his system. They lost cards and told me they don't have a single camera in the store to check for me, the employee said him self he really liked the card and it just so happened to be the card that did not get returned to me. A little more pricey for certain items but they had so much stuff I have not seen in a long time that it was worth it for me. Huge game (board) selection and a giant manga collection. I didn't stick around to eat at the cafe but it looked cozy and warm and it had just started to snow outside. I came to to pick up some old books I had read as a kid so if you are looking for that old Sweet Valley High series, Goosebumps, Fear Street, Christopher Pike, Archie comics, etc they have them here! On the plus side, the super nice cashier asked me if I was buying these books for a child and I told him no, they were for me, the big kid. One of my favorite places to go to Flagstaff. Bookmans is the coolest place on the planet. I remember a few years back there was a huge snowstorm that collapsed the roof of Bookmans and I was super bummed for weeks! I was crazy excited to hear that they were going to re build and they came back looking fresher than ever. Kind of like a Super bookmans! It was a silver lining in a tragic story. I honestly don't know if I have ever spent more than $20 in this place. We opt for the trade route. The day before we decide to head to Bookmans I go through all of our old books and games that we are no longer using and get a bag together for the next day. Once there we drop our bag off at the counter and go browse the store to see what treasures are to be found. My kids run to the amazingly organized kids section grab a couple of books and have me read to them for an hour or so. My wife usually will have found what she is looking for by then and switches with me. I then head to the video games and electronic section. I have never left empty handed. My family will most often have to pry me away and we head to the counter to see if any trade was given. I have a good idea of what they like to trade for by now so we usually walk away with $30 or $40 in trade. Way more than is needed for a few children's books and a old copy of Mario Cart. My wife will use the rest on a latte attached to the bookstore (that accepts trade credit!!) I can not think of a better way to spend a afternoon than chillaxin with the fam at Bookmans. read more
