I could not be happier with the service I received from Eric, the assistant manager. Everybody was friendly, polite, and very helpful. I only had to grab a few things, but being the assistant manager that Eric is, he helped me find a couple more things that he was sure a guitar player would want... Lol! seriously though, I asked about a foot pedal and he took a couple out of the case and help me plug them in so I could try them out. I picked a beautiful guitar off the wall and Eric set up the amp, cords and pedal. when purchasing, I let them know that I am a veteran and they were happy to take a few bucks off the top. I am a female bassist, and yes this is an important detail. I came in here awhile ago before a gig in a hurry to buy a case for my bass and accidentally grabbed a guitar case instead (it was in the bass section for some reason and I was in too much of a hurry to double check). So I come back the next day to exchange it for a bass case and the cashier said to me "how did you not know your boyfriend plays bass?" I've literally never been so shocked by the audacity of a comment before and I think about it almost daily. So yeah, I haven't been back since and will never go back again. read more

During this second wave of CV19 isolation, my sister and I decided to take up the Ukulele. She had her ukulele already and purchased one for me. Hers sounded great, mine sounded like a sick bull frog throwing up! We looked up music store recommendations on Yelp and found AZ Music Pro. To ensure it wasn't a wasted trip we called ahead to make sure they could restring if necessary. Lance answered the phone, was very pleasant and said come on down. We walked in and a nice gentleman directed to the back telling us to talk to Rich or Tony. Not sure which was which but one was younger the other was older. The older gentleman was listening to our story of woe and ignorance as we spoke to the younger man; he walked up quietly picked up my ukulele and proceeded to tighten and tune it by ear. I was amazed, entranced and in awe. He charged us nothing for his expertise, went and got a battery for my little tuner for which we paid a whopping $1.36 :). My sister was so impressed by his kindness, generosity and customer service she decided to get him some takeout from his favorite restaurant. Good service deserves to be recognized. This store will receive future business from me. read more

Brought in my acoustic guitar for adjustment since the action was getting a bit too high and Neil was very helpful! He adjusted the truss rod for me right away which improved things and gave me detailed and helpful information about how I could further fix the issue if I wanted to either leave it with him or adjust it myself. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, AWFUL RETURN POLICY: Today was my third visit to AZ Music Pro and I was not satisfied with all my experiences. On all visits, it was difficult to get individual attention by the "expert" because he kept running about and taking care of customers that came after me -- despite me being there first. The young man that was helping me was helpful but not as knowledgeable as I would have thought. After awhile helping me, he was told to "move on" by his manager because he was spending too much time helping me. At that point, I should have walked out and not have spent my hard-earned money but I needed the equipment. The manager then stopped rushing him after the young store worker told him that I was purchasing items that was more than $150. That shut the manager up quickly. I tested my microphone and it seemed to work but when I got home and tested it on my equipment, it was not compatible with what I needed to do. Then, I was disappointed to see the return policy on the receipt state, "Store credit or exchange only within 30 days of purchase. 30% restocking fee applys [sic] to open or worn items." Taking the equipment back meant that I would not get my cash back entirely and I would be subject to a 30% restocking fee which amounted to about $45-50. So a suggestion, make sure the equipment you're purchasing is the right one before paying because they will not refund cash back to you and be patient because you will wait awhile. read more

I went in here a long time ago while visiting family. The salesman seemed to have a fun time showing me guitars that were "just my size" (I'm 5'2" with smaller hands). When I went into the room of Taylor guitars out of curiosity, he handed me a grand concert guitar. A few months later I purchased a Taylor grand concert for myself. It is my main go-to guitar. Staff was a bit aggressive and pushy but had a good selection of equipment. Prices were a bit high.

Guitar had an issue with cracking due to winter weather. They had the guitar for 3 weeks for the repair, but didn't humidify it before gluing the crack back together, and so it split several additional times during the repair process. Rates are above 30% higher than average. Take your instruments to Phoenix; the more reasonable rates will make up the difference for gas. read more

Great guitar shop in Flagstaff. Ordered a used Martin OM-28 from their reverb site and the experience was superb. Both the owner and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. One of the best aspects of this store is their response time and their willingness to work with their customers. That should be a standard for any music shop, but Arizona Music Pro does this especially well. My guitar was shipped in perfect condition within 3 days or so and the staff did their best to give me the best shipping option that was the quickest. They made sure that the guitar was humidified on the way to my house (very thoughtful of them as shipping an acoustic guitar can be detrimental for the wood as the humidity and the temperature constantly fluctuates). This was a huge plus for me. You guys did a great job and I hope to buy from ya'll again! read more

SO DISAPPOINTED! I have been so excited about starting guitar lessons again. I did my research and, even though Az Music had mixed reviews, I was optimistic that taking lessons from them was going to work out as they are conveniently located near my home. I should have seen the signs the day I called to schedule a lesson that there were going to be issues. The guy that answered the phone was rude and put out, telling me that he would have to put me on hold and get "the book" and it would be easier if I just came in the store instead. (Easier for who?) But I relented and stopped by to schedule my appointment. Not sure but I think it was the same guy that I had the misfortune of dealing with... just rude and clearly didnt care if I was there or not. When I asked to schedule a lesson he asked who I wanted to take lessons from. I explained this was my first lesson and didnt know anyone. He was annoyed and said he'd have to get "the book". (I drove to do something that could have been done over the phone and he was irritated because he had to walk, literally, 10 feet to get the book!) I decided not to book the appointment after all and walked out! This guy hurt an instructors opportunity to have a long-term student that will take 1 or 2 lessons every week because he is lazy and rude. Business is hard enough... at the very least... just be nice and do your best to accommodate your customers! I feel bad for the instructor... and the owner! read more

I took a Garcia 2-A Guitar that was purchased for repair with Neil Wilson at AZ Music Pro. Neil is the luthier/tech who helped me out. He helped me to understand that that particular guitar needed significant structural work which may not yield a stable fix. He strongly encouraged me to return the guitar for a refund, which I subsequently did do. Neil wrote a letter of support documenting the damage that the guitar presented, and thus facilitated the return. On top of that I offered to pay, and he said "no charge". Neil was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Thanks Neil!! read more

I never leave Yelp reviews but if this is where people look to decide a business' quality, I feel that I owe it to AZ Music to share my great experience. They were very quick to let me demo two guitars, I bought the second one after playing it. Not only was the guitar fairly priced and great quality, they were generous enough to throw in a free case so I didn't have to carry it through the snow storm. If that didn't earn them 5 stars, they had a very wide selection of Fenders both Squire and originals, along with what appeared to be a wide selection of other world instruments. Would definitely recommend this place for any musicians. read more

I was unable to return the instrument due to COVID. When they opened back up, I return the instrument. On the same day that I return the instrument, they charged me for the whole month and refused to give me a refund even though it was the same day. Poor customer service. read more

Originally I thought this store was a bit over priced, but after speaking to their owner, I discovered that they offer a low price guarantee and will match any lower price you find, be it on the internet or at Guitar Center, or where ever. This day and age, with all the internet shopping available to consumers, it is hard for Mom and Pop stores to compete. AZ Music Pro however has been able to compete by adjusting to the times and matching prices from all over the internet and Guitar Centers. I have found their prices to be considerably cheaper in some cases when comparing to Amazon, Musician's Friend, and the likes on new instruments. Stings and Accessories are priced pretty much the same anywhere else you find them. Their customer service is on par with other stores as well. I had broken the nut on my ax and took it in to get a new one fitted for it. The guitar repair guy (forgot his name) was extremely helpful. He grinded down the nut a few times and got it to fit perfectly and even told me how to set it in there myself with wood glue and a clamp. It was nice to have continue to give me advice even when I told him I was just going to put it in myself. So as far as it goes with getting your musical fix, give Amazon and Guitar Center the middle finger and keep it local. Even if AZ Music Pro doesn't have exactly what you're looking for, just ask and I'm sure they'd be happy to order it for you. read more

I bought a used bass and it developed a bad buzz. When I brought it back, they said it was warped. They wouldn't even give me store credit toward a purchase of a new one. Shopping local is not always the right option. Our Flagstaff hotels and restaurants are wonderful. Canyon Coolers are superb. These twerp don't belong. read more

I'm a "three strikes, you're out" kind of person. And they went on for four. In the past, I bought various instruments from them. Then later, I rented a cello and paid for a class. The cello was not tuned at all so it was no good to me at home and I did not know how to tune one. I had trusted them. Not a good idea, one finds out rather quickly... The class: I show up early. A kid comes to tell me that the teacher, Brittany, is running late but should be here anytime. I ask him to please get someone to come and tune the cello so that it is not done on my watch and with the teacher running late). He never returns. Brittany does though 15 minutes late in a 30 minute class. I was patient and assumed she would surely do teh 30 minute class as her tardiness was on her. She tells me we have 15 minutes. At that point, I recall feeling like she must be joking. She said she had another class to get to! Hmmm... Most of the dudes I have met there are not that friendly. They do not know how to treat customers. Their prices are WAY too high. They employ kids who clearly, couldn't care less (and I've seen that on several ocassions). Their teachers are too busy to teach. Oh, and after all that, do they fix it or make it right? Of course not. Why would they, when they just keep on 'winging it' instead? The owner never did follow up. His mistake. He lost a customer and my recommendation. I strongly encourage you to --think twice-- if you actually value an enriching EXPERIENCE which music can be... somewhere else. read more

Gave them one star because there is no option for no stars. Walked in right after they opened one morning, was in the store for about a half hour and was completely ignored. I know these rock star/sales associates are busy talking to their agents and cutting recording deals but I couldn't even get LOOKED at in this little, small town store. Bought my Les Paul standard somewhere else - they didn't have it but even if they had I wouldn't have bought it there - I'm just not cool enough to buy their guitars. You never know who is going to walk through the door with a pocket full of cash and buy your most expensive guitar - maybe the manager should explain that to the resident guitar gods. Just bought a drum as a gift for my husband. If it had been for myself I would have walked out. Tried to negotiate on the price of a consignment drum and Joey the salesperson/consignee just kept yelling the price across the store. He dId not even thank me for the purchase!
