I called the store and talked with them about what I wanted to bring in, they let me know what was required, what the trade in value rates were, etc. Very helpful and informal. Called all day to check if they had a switch lite (they're sold out everywhere) and refused to put the one they had one hold even w pre payment then I call another time to ask about trading in my special edition ps4 system. All those reviews complaining about their shady trade in tactics? They're true. Called ahead to make sure they were open an accepting trade ins, they said yes. But when I showed up with my PS4 they claimed they couldn't process the trade in because - and I'm not making this up - "they didn't have any HDMI cables" to hook it up with, so I'd have to bring one in. Asked why they didn't mention this on the phone, and also why they don't keep an HDMI cable in stock just for trade in testing only, he said he didn't realize they were out of HDMI cables in the store. Walked across the street and bought one at Target and left it with them, telling them it was my gift and should be called "The In House HDMI Cable For Trade In Testing", and they were to use it for any future customer who was trading in a console. So if you go up there and they pull the HDMI Out Of Stock Tactic on you, remind them of the guy who bought one for them the day he traded in his PS4. read more

Whats up guys? Hope all is brilliant! Today is another review of a GameStop, however in the Burbank location. (Dun dun Dunnnnnnnnn) SPOIL ALERT!!! Its not going to be nice. (shocked emoji face insert) The following review is broken up by product, service, environment, price, and overall thoughts. Enjoy! Product: Like most GameStops, the company sells video games, collectibles like Funko Pops, figurines, trading cards, plushies, etc. This particular GameStop seemed fully stocked in product. I was able to find a cool Funko Pop at this location but didn't buy it. You'll soon realize why. (4 stars) Service: Now this is why this location gets the 1 star. Came in with the little brother and found two cool funko pops I haven't seen elsewhere. ( Steph Curry and MJ Funko). Waited in line with one guest in front of us. JUST ONE guest. There were two associates behind the cash wrap. The body language and tone of the associate helping out the guest in front of us was not friendly or welcoming . His responses to him were short for the duration of their encounter. Now your probably thinking why are you writing a review on someone else experience. I would respond because I am a manager for a retail company 10+ years and thats not how you service guest. Back to the story. The other associate looked like he was busy in his work. Fair enough. However, my brother and I were waiting in line for a MAD minute only to be acknowledged with "he (the man helping out the other guest) will help you". If you notice that your coworker is taking abnormally long to assist a guest and you have other guest patiently waiting to be rung up, you would think its your responsibility to help out your team and make your store look good. Guess not. I left the store to eat food I had ordered, finished my food and then my little brother barely came back shaking his head at the fact that he stayed in that line of 1 for X amount of time. Oh and my brother went back to that location and sure enough got the same type of service. (1 star) Environment: The establishment is located in a huge shopping center with plenty of parking. There is really good burger spot next to the GameStop (Hook Burger). The actual establishment is tiny. (4 stars) Price: The prices for GameStop are fair. They have items in the store that are both lower and higher than competitors. Do your due diligence. (4 stars) Overall Thoughts: A bulk of the 1 star was service. The product was not the issue. If you are a local and do not mind horrible service, than this is the location for you. I would order online or drive all the way out to Corona for better service. You guys dropped the ball Burbank GameStop. I hope you realize the error in the service your team sorely lack. I know y'all can do it. We all make mistakes as humans. My Grandson received a Nintendo Switch that was purchased for him by his Mother for his tenth birthday just twelve days ago. From the very beginning he suspected that this game console was not working correctly. We took it this Gamestop location today and the Assistant Manager, James Barajas helped us out. James evaluated the machine for us and confirmed that this unit was indeed not working properly. He told us that we could return this item there at the store and that he would have another Nintendo Switch sent to us from their warehouse and that he would make sure that it was sent with expedited shipping. James was great. He got on the phone to order us the replacement unit and was told by the person that answered the phone that there were none available to ship out. James pleaded our case with them asking them if they could just track down a Nintendo Switch from anywhere? This person even transferred him to her supervisor to talk to, and again James continued to ask this person if there was anything that she could possibly do and even making sure to mention to this woman that it was a birthday gift. Unfortunately, my Grandson is going to have to wait approximately a week and half to receive his new Nintendo Switch. Although this is the unfortunate result of this transaction, we feel that we were very fortunate to have James Barajas help us with this issue. James was very patient, kind and obviously gave his very best to offer us the most excellent customer service that he was capable providing. Thanks James! read more

Pretty decent selection of video games for all consoles. Expect to get ripped off if you trade anything in though. They sometimes offer deals for select trade-ins, but they're usually not worth it. You'd be better off trying eBay, Craigslist, or other places. One thing I really do like however is when you buy a used game, you have 7 days to try it out. If you don't like it or beat it, you can just return it. It's essentially a way to rent games for free, which in this day and age is invaluable. Video game rentals are like $8 now at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video and their selection is scarce, meanwhile Gamefly constantly ships out discs that are unreadable and wastes your time and money. read more

The most trash GameStop on earth. This place will waste your time like no other. I go into sell my Xbox One and Switch, dude tells me I have to wait for his boss to come back from the bank with money if I wanted cash. I said uh ok? I wait 40 minutes come back ask him did his boss come back, he said 'uh... Yeah' OK so he starts taking a look at my systems for well over 25 minutes going through the computer to find the right SKU, I even had to help him with that. After all this, he says he can't take the systems because my gamertag and switch online ID is not on the systems because they need to see if they can go online. I was thinking holy crap this is a huge scam and these guys do literally nothing all day. Why not tell me that at the START? I left and went to Planet X in Glendale, they took the systems with no issue and were professional and nice. Horrible service at this location and it shouldn't be that way, this is a perfect spot for a game store and these guys are just running it into the ground. GameStop corporate doesn't care as well. Worst store around. BEWARE I preordered Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and the bonus was the poster which I want a big big sa m of but heck why not. So 6 days before the release I ask the assistant manager some duffus name KODY is there going to be a early release he said no just show up on the day release I said ok cool. So fast forward to today I go 5 min before they open and get the game only for the same duffus to tell me oh we have out all the poster on the 9pm release I called everyone on the list. Granted I didn't get the call but since I did preorder it shouldn't they have saved one for me since I PREORDERED it?? ABSURD customer service, I'm a glass half full person and hate leaving reviews like this but oh boyyyy this place. I've always had good experiences at the other GameStop locations, so went here a few days ago in search of some new games and to test out the new PS console. The consoles that they had as testers didn't work so we went to ask the guy behind the register (short, short haired hispanic dude, will have to call you out since you're that bad), it went like this: Us: Can yo help us test out the Playstation? Him: We can't do anything about it since the reps set it up (monotone) Me: Ah okay I see it's just not responding :( Him: OK COOL I'LL MAKE A NOTE OF THAT (in a loud, obnoxious and sarcastic tone). Horrible customer service. Came in at 11:48 am but they opened at 12 noon. Employee came to open the door for fed ex so I asked if the has a Nintendo switch. In a very rude way says I did not open the door for you, you have to wait till we open. Again I asked if they had what I was looking for. His reply wait until we open and you will know. So waited in line finally my turn came at 12:37pm. Asked if he had it without wasting a second answers no we have been out of them for a few days. Really pissed me off. His name was James. Rule number one of retail customer service: DONT TALK SHIT ABOUT YOUR FELLOW COWORKERS! Im not going to go into details about what the situation was but it is highly unprofessional to discuss your coworkers disciplinary actions to a customer. At most companies, actions like that are a violation of HR policy and a terminable offense. I no longer shop at the Gamestop in the Burbank Town Center because of poor customer service, please don't make me have to do the same to this location. Customer service is EVERYTHING when it comes to keeping customers happy. I dont believe in the theory of "The customer is always right" but atleast show some level of professionalism, even if it is just Gamestop. I pretty much come to this location exclusively for videogame stuff aside from when I shop online, but my recent purchase of a new Xbox one x is what really brought me to write this review. I purchased the play and charge kit with it (with the micro usb cord and rechargeable battery) and when I got home and set it all up, the controller would not charge when plugged in to the console. I tried charging it via other methods, phone chargers, my laptop, etc and it wouldn't charge. Figured the play n charge kit was defective so I brought it in to exchange for a new one. Same thing when I got home with the new one. Controller wouldn't charge. However my phone and other usb devices WOULD charge when plugged into the system. I called Gamestop and told them that I thought the controller itself must be defective and asked if they could exchange it by itself rather than bring the entire console for exchange. They obliged, I went in and they swapped me out for a brand new controller. I get home, plug it in, and it starts charging! Thank you for all the help, it's very much appreciated. Just to add they've been so helpful so much more since. Gave us the elite pro member $50 off deal on the vanguard game system early. Also let us apply new trade credit to the transaction as we had to comeback to get the $50 off after the promotion actually started. These guys are insanely helpful and friendly. read more
