I stopped in here to see if they had any of the drink coasters I wanted that I saw on the B&N website. They did not, but they did have some other fun things, as well as, of course, books. My husband bought a book and I bought two "world's smallest" toys, which were very cute and reasonably priced. I didn't have to wait in line very long, and the cashier was polite and friendly, offering me advice on how best I could get the drink coasters I wanted. I did notice some shaking of the building, which I guess is due to a gym being near/above it? That was a little unsettling, but otherwise, the location was brightly lit, clean, and well stocked. This store is very clean well organized. It's easy to navigate and find the books you're looking for. The day I visited, they had special discounts going on. I saw a lot of books that were marked down. This store like other stores has a cafe located inside which makes the visit more enjoyable. Grab a coffee and read a book. Love this store! Came here with my toddler and we had such a good time looking at books together. They also have a little area with a train set for kids to play with. This store is so bright, organized and clean. They have all of the classic favorite children's books and activity books as well. There's also a pretty large toy section! This an amazing branch of Barnes and Noble. It's massive and all the categories are rightfully marked, a customer can easily find what is needed or favorite type of books. There's a minimum presence of staff to help out but once you find one, that person. Is knowledgeable and helpful. My grandkids loved the kid section! I am in here at least twice a week with my toddler. It's clean and bright and always fun to look around. They have fun, creative displays for the releases (I especially liked the theming for Dungeon Crawler Carl) and local authors will occasionally stop in to sign books. The staff is so friendly and clearly all care about their jobs. When my kid has bonked her head or decided it's a great time to hide, it's all hands on deck to help me out. Typical Barnes and Noble with an attached cafe located in Burbank off San Fernando Rd. I usually park in the structure which gives me a easy peasy entrance point to BNB. A fun fact, they offer a monthly $5.00 book in their cafe with purchase of a drink. The book rotates every month. Pretty cool. There are always fun discount sections too, stuff on clearance and staff picks. Help is hit or miss. Not too many staff on the floor. read more

If you are looking for a book store for some peace and quiet and to look for some great reading material. This is NOT the place. The Gym Bros from upstairs throwing the weights on the floor and shaking the entire building. Not a very comfortable feeling at all. I don't who thought it would be a good idea to put a Crunch Fitness on top of a bookstore, but they should be looking for a new career. I won't be back. read more

I have to say I just love Barnes and Noble. What started as a fight against mom and pop bookstores has ended with B&N kind of now becoming one. They have closed a lot of stores and as much as I was a curmudgeon at first, I have had great experiences with this place. The customer service is always on point. They always pick up the phone and are so helpful. This location as well as the one in the Americana have brought a lot of joy into my life. I am a lover of books and they always have what I am looking for and always at a better price than Amazon. If they don't have it they will order it and then they will personally call you and tell you it's ready. In a sea of business closures, I'm glad and grateful that this one stuck around. Their online store is also great if you can't make it into the store but there really are few things better than putzing around a bookstore and discovering some new gems to read or some cool gifts for loved ones. read more

Barnes & Nobles - (Downtown) Burbank, just outside the infamous Burbank Town Center is neighbor to the AMC 6, Crunch Fitness and CPK aka California Pizza Kitchen. It shares a lot with these business in the outdoor half of the BTC/Mall area and living up to it's Barnes & Noble name is quite big.... Carrying an assortment of books and branks from kid to adult in all subjects, categories, how to do, do it for you/do it yourself and beyond. Considering there aren't as many large chain or even larger bookstores I'm grateful this B is still thriving in the B. They keep the lines flowing no matter what time of day, day of the week or holiday weekend. Friendly service from the cafe to checkout. Typically always greeted when entering and/or thanked for your visit. Ended up getting a board game of all things for a friend and a gift for my niece (Happy Birthday today)... I was shopping with my friend Art and he actually food a nice book or two on sale, which they do have regardless if you're a member, though you'd get a better discount and price if you are. Great cards for all occasions and some nice stationary as well. Q-Tip: The don't really advertise as much but as an alternative to their $39.99 /year membership (roughly less than $3.50 a month) - you can also sign up for a free membership - which I did - and collect stamps to save: - 1 stamp for every $10 spent in a purchase - 10 stamps = $5 reward read more

A man name Jered (if I get it right) carrying this golden stand behind my daughter and he was saying "coming through " and my daughter not hearing/responding and I told him "sorry he's not hearing you as she wearing earplugs, special child" he responded was rolling his eyes and a head shake gesture. I was offended and hurt . Right away I told him I don't like the way he reacted and he told me "do you know how heavy it is?" That being said, when I go out anywhere and need assistance I try to make things as painless as possible. I went in this afternoon in attempts to purchase the new "Baking Yesteryear" book by Dylan Hollis and was met with PHENOMENAL customer service from the staff on duty. I had trouble finding the book in question and sought out an employee to help me find it. Turns out it was a bit tricky to locate and soon 3-4 employees as well as the store manager were on the hunt to help me find it! After about 15 or so minutes turning the store over to locate it, I gave up hope and got ready to leave. On my way out, a lovely woman with (awesome) green hair found me in the store and had the book in hand! Customer service like this is what keeps me shopping in store instead of online. My wife and I stopped by here because she wanted to get some nursing prep book and also some other books. This is my first time in a Barnes & Noble in a while, I think almost 10 years. When we walked in a worker greeted us and asked if we needed any help. I went browsing around the store to see what they have since it's my first time here. I saw the kids area which is really nice and I think they have story time on certain days. I found the technology book section and just browse through the CompTIA books. They have a cafe inside the store too if you want coffee. I also stumble upon some Legos and they had some Star Wars theme. The store is overall nicely organized and decorated. It's not like a library where you'll have to be super quiet but it's manageable if you're expecting some silent when you are reading inside here. I used to like this bookstore, I have been going here for 15+ years so I can say I witness its ups and down. I have to be honest, customer service hasn't always been great here, it still isn't, but lately the drawback it has been the book selection and that is the most important thing. I used to love coming in here to shop and check their New Release wall, always full of great books, a nice way for me to discover new reads and authors. Even their bargain sections had so much to offer, great selection. Not anymore! They have a huge space and they don't utilize properly! Not enough books and the organization is pretty bad. Just check the Fiction area and you'll see what I am talking about. I was looking for a book by Isabel Allende to buy as a gift and they had only 4 books by this author. I couldn't belive it. And maybe the last book of of an important contemporary author. So pretty bad selection, not enough recent published fiction. It reminded me why I like to shop at indie bookstores more. Also, an issue mu husband has, pretty legit, they have their Criterion DVD-s and Blu-Ray-s behind the counter! Find room inside the store for a display! How are we suppose to browse, pick one, look on the cover and so on? Do you want to sell any? They offer to order you a book, but sometimes, like in my case, you need to get something right then and there since you are in the area already. I can order on line, but I like to shop in stores and give them my business this way. I love bookstores and used to enjoy this one a lot. I hope it will stay here but they need to make some improvements! Forget about other merchandise, focus on books, increase the selection, compete! read more

I love this Barnes & Noble. There is always plenty of parking ever since IKEA moved from across the street and Chevy's Restaurant went out of business. This store has a wide open layout and clearly marked aisles. The customer service booth is located in the main aisle and always has a friendly employee able to answer any questions and help you find what you're looking for. There is also a nice little Starbucks inside the store with plenty of tables and chairs. Every month they have a lineup of Authors scheduled for book signing's and Q&A. It's worth it to check out the website for their schedule. You might be surprised who's scheduled. This store is always clean and associates are easy to flag down. This B&N also has a nice selection of the latest board games. read more

This isn't our home B&N but we were out for dinner in the Toluca Lake and it was the closest one to us. We started discussing a few books we wanted and while I tend to give Bezos the book business I decided to check if this location had the titles in stock that we were looking for - it said they did online, so we gave it a shot and drove over. Service at the info counter was so helpful and friendly, she quickly directed us to both of the books and when I asked about price matching she let us know they'll price match to their online price. Always helpful, if you - like me prefer to save when you're able. I needed tissue paper for a few holiday bags at home and they had some really nice selections. I picked up a couple of packs on the way out. If I lived closer to this store, I'd frequent it a lot more than the few times over a decade or so that I've been in here. Parking: Plenty of parking at this location. Ever since Ikea moved down the street, the parking structure has never had an issue with parking. Their are other Businesses around Barnes & Nobles, but you can definitely tell the difference in traffic flow after Ikea moved. I have been to this location several occasions, and have never had an issue with parking and always got a close spot. Cleanliness: I have been here a lot, and never had an issue with cleanliness. The books are always organized, and floors never had any issues as well. Can't comment on bathrooms, have not had the chance to use them. Staff: Staff always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Each time I am looking for a specific book or section, I have always had the pleasure of having a knowledgeable staff member provide efficient service, information, and guidance. Keep it up Staff, and keep it up HR on hiring the right people. Selection of books: From my pictures, you can see all the sections they offer to the public. Magazines, funko pops, toys, board games, vast variety of sections and genres, and the children section is a good size as well. I would like to see the music section increased a bit, compared to other Barnes & Nobles, their music section isn't as big. Overall: I recommend this location to anyone looking for a book in person instead looking online. If you want to get away for a few hours and read a book you can definitely come here and grab a chair and get lost in a novel. Five stars! read more

A pretty alright location, although a couple of the employees are a**holes. They approach me and start talking to me, casually, I might add, without me even asking for assistance as a customer/patron - something that definitely isn't anticipating my desires as a shopper there. That isn't "customer service". With one or two of those workers gone, fired - the place will be much more enjoyable, not even as a place looking for that, but it will improve the professional atmosphere drastically. While anticipating a customers needs, such as what they're looking for, is somewhat expected at a place, that isn't what happens here, what with the employees standing around, talking casually instead of doing their jobs. I wish I worked there sometimes - for I am professional. Using Starbucks shouldn't result in such catastrophe. read more

Matt went out of his way to do a terrible job. He shouldn't be a manager. He should be kinder and more customer service driven. Matt is just a terrible manager. I had 3 books to return with recite (I've attached the picture of these books). But Matt said that he was only going to take back 2 of them because one of the them looked "very damaged or used." I told him that all three books had not been used and they look perfect. I didn't understand his decision since this is how it was sold to me. I even asked another employee if this book looked damaged to her and Matt told me to not ask her because it wouldn't matter and that all I would be doing is harassing his employee. When I disagreed with Matt on his decision (for the glossy black covered book in the photo) he said "since you don't agree with me, I am changing my mind and I will not take back the other two books." Yes, this is coming from a terrible manager that does not deserve the poison he has been given. He walked away from his desk and thats the last I saw of him. All I could think of is what was wrong with this person. Obviously a lot is wrong with this guy and the reviews are very clear that he is consistently terrible at his job. So, I've attached these picture to give you an idea of what to expect and to hopefully avoid this Matt guy. I look forward to sharing this experience with another manager by the name of Shawn and also reach out to their headquarters. This kind of customer service given by a manager can quickly effect the rest of the employees that watch and learn and even mimic without any hesitation. This is the best B&N location...even better than those 3 story ones! This one has everything you need on only 1 floor! Spacious too! The cafe is amazing with ambient seating and wonderful and hardworking staff! They always get drink orders out very fast despite there being huge crowds sometimes. The bookstore staff is also wonderful! They always are happy to answer questions...they will even walk you exactly to where a book you are looking for is located. The store had a lot of books on sale. The employees are very nice and offered to help me. So let me start by saying, I'm not an avid reader. I don't frequent bookstores of any kind often. But I was in search of a beginner's piano book for my granddaughter and online shopping was not allowing me to see the pages. So after visiting the piano store, the music shop in Burbank, the library and the Iliad.. I found myself here. Let me backup a moment. Upon my first visit, I walked in and asked a heavy set girl behind the cashier counter where I could find music books. She told me she didn't know and pointed me to the Customer Service Counter. So I walked over to the counter and there's no-one there. Well..that was useful..Thanks! I waited a couple minutes. The girl who directed me here saw me waiting and I never heard any intercom letting someone know I was waiting. Irritated, I decided to look for an employee (not the cashier!). I found a lady who was helpful. She walked me over to where the music books were. But there were no beginner books. So we walked over to the customer service desk where she looked up done options and have me a recommendation. She then ordered it and said I can pick up at the store location with no delivery charge. I then asked about a book The Door In The Wall by HG WELLS. She said she had it in stock but turned out it was by a different author (and totally different story) She was able to order and said I could pick up when the piano book came in. Great. A few days go by and I get notified the piano book arrived. I asked if the other book was in as well, as I didn't want to make two trips. It had not arrived so they said they'd attach that book with the piano book and hold until both were in store. I never heard back a week and a half later, so I just dropped in. They had both books. I paid and left. When I got home I realized the HG WELLS book was the one by the other author. Ugh! Really?! Yes I should have double checked but after extensive conversation with the first lady about the author, it just didn't cross my mind that she would order the wrong book. So, I called the store. Asked if they could order the correct book and I could make one trip to pick up the correct book and return the wrong book. Nope... The HG WELLS book could only be delivered by mail, which would cost$5 to ship. Nope. Ordered it on Amazon for $4 with free shipping. I guess this is why bookstores are going out of business! I returned the wrong book and went on my way. I don't see a need to go back anytime soon. And should that need arise, I'll drive to the store at the Grove. read more

Love this retro bookstore in Burbank on South San Fernando Road after you walk through the 80's mall to the other side. It is a wonderful book store where I bought an amazing novel which I am still reading. The girl that help me was great. Amazing customer service. The coffee bar is not so great but I'm not giving it any points off for that. I wish I could remember the girl who helped me. Glad they still have booksellers around even if this is a national chain of stores. This Barnes & Noble located across from the ever busy Ikea in Burbank has a Starbucks in it and overall, a pretty good sized one store at that. The periodical section is huge and is usually my 1st stop. The travel section is also good sized, has a lot of references and I often visit that when at this location. There are plenty of clever and useful gift ideas placed all over the store from gadgets and accessories to book suggestions and calendars. The kids reading section is also expanse. I like this Barnes & Noble and I sometimes forget it's still there because I cringe at the thought of going anywhere near Ikea unless it was totally warranted & unavoidable. Check it out while it's still standing... Parking can be a pain but where is parking a breeze anymore. At least it's free and in a covered parking structure. read more

I've come here several times to purchase gifts for friends when I want a book or random item now (rather than waiting for shipping through online retailers). Thankfully, you can purchase online and pick up in store, which I do with this location. Always be on the lookout for online coupons! Sometimes there are coupons that only work for online purchases (and picked up in stores), but strangely the store can't apply online coupons if you try to make a purchase in person. If the item I order is in stock at this store and I purchase it online, they usually have it ready for me in an hour. The service is nice and quick. Though the review focuses mostly on the online purchase + in-person pick up, the inside of the store is also nice and well organized. I love bookstores and touching physical books. Plus, the location has fun little knick-knacks and a cute children's section. There's a parking lot adjacent to the BN, so parking is no problem at all. read more

I'm reviewing for the café located in this Barnes and Noble. They do offer a variety of desserts like cheesecakes and cupcakes from The Cheesecake Factory, spinach and artichoke quiche, broccoli cheddar quiche, just a whole better selection of snacks than starbucks. They do serve starbucks coffee here, but they do not accept gift cards or the gold card membership of starbucks. I was here for several hours and not once did they wipe down the tables and there are no outlets if you need to study. read more
