I enjoy playing the pinball machines here. I'm not really in till all the other hobbies but it's nice that everyone has a spot for whatever they're into. I just wish they had more pinball and some OG arcade games. They do have some arcade machines but they're all have flat screens and presumably emulation inside but hey it's better than nothing. I've been in this shop at least a half dozen times now, and the service is consistently sub-par or nonexistent. Outdated stock of TTRPG books they're still charging MSRP on(come get your leather-bound playtest Pathfinder books a year after the playtest was over), overpriced kid toys, and a selection of collectible minifigures. Staff hide behind the counter unless they're actively stocking things, and asking questions is unacceptable or treated with outright disdain. I've even had the experience of attempting to purchase an item and the employee working the register was outright dismayed at the retail cost; a 2x2x2' giant kirby stuffed pillow (complete with food stains from sitting on the floor of the shop) was 129.99 before taxes. This isn't a FLGS; it's just the local gaming schlock shop. A dozen different types of monopoly boards: not one settlers of catan board. Try other spots first; this is the last ditch mall rat hangout, charging vast sums of money for a box of candy or a bag of chips. read more

Never ventured into a comic book store before in my life. Having a little boy will expose you to new adventures all the time. We stopped in for a comic book for a reward for our son, and wow. It's more that just comics. There are all sorts of toys and collectibles. Stuffed animals, squishy toys, hot wheels, little cars and trains. A whole wall of comic books. We were searching for something that would be appropriate to read with a young kid, and the staff was able to guide us in the right direction. It was clean and organized. So many little things in there to see. Definitely a place to keep in mind the next time I'm shopping for a birthday party. read more

I haven't been to the Meadowood mall in about two years thanks to COVID but GG came through where other specialty retailers fall flat. Their smaller store carries games Comics Kingdom and Nerdvana don't! I was able to pick up a copy of the new Dune RPG (they had two copies, as well as several Limited Edition copies) a retail price. The larger store seems to have cleared out their best products, which were the squishables, pusheen, funko pops and other products. It looks like they don't have the porcelain Disney items they carried in the summer/fall of 2019 either. read more

Four stars for having a decent selection of board games, even carrying some of the more popular European fare. Knowledgeable and helpful staff who will help you find the game you're looking for. Lost a star for not having completely competitive pricing (excusable for a B&M store in a mall), and for always seeming to have CCG tourneys going on in the middle of the (already small) store, making it near impossible to browse. Besides, it seems like at least ONE person in every CCG group decides bathing is optional, and the place smells accordingly during CCG events. This is one of the few places in town to get games like Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Small World, Pandemic, Shadows over Camelot, Battlestar Galactica, and some expansions for the above, but don't expect them to have a huge selection of the less mainstream games. Give them a shot if you're looking for something in town, but don't be surprised if you can't even get to their shelves much if there's a tournament going. read more

I have a strong competitive spirit, and I love trying to outmaneuver an opponent. The boyfriend, not so much: he prefers deckbuilding games and games that are more cooperative than competitive. Games Galore has a huge selection of both kinds of games and so much more. We buy most of our games through Amazon because it is less expensive, but if we're hankering for something new and want it immediately, Games Galore is the place to go. They also have puzzles and madlibs and Houdini handcuffs and the mini Legos series and the small models one can make out of bendable metal. It's a great place to find a unique present for someone or a fun contribution to an extended family dinner. This place is pretty great. The owner is a nice guy who really knows his nerd stuff as well (I use the term nerd in a loving way, as I identify as one). I really enjoy the fact that he opens his shop up to pretty much any game and any players, anytime. The only downside to this place is the pricing on their items. If you want to purchase from here, expect to pay full MSRP on most items. But the fact that you are supporting a local business is worth the price. Always support local! It would be really cool if they instituted some sort of return customer incentive program. That may increase sales in the long run. read more

The coolest place in reno for game card and boardgame lovers. The store is great for purchasing a large variety of collectibles, games, and cards. The otherside is where you can sit down and enjoy playing such games with friends, strangers, and potential lovers! You can find a large assortment of Funko pop collectibles and old arcade games. They dont serve food yet, but sell snacks if you are intently playing a game and can't go to the food court for some yums. There is no fee to play such games in their game sector. Go there to learn new games or to meet people. I higly recommend it! It js moderately busy throughout the day. Problem is they close when the mall does. Not sure if the open later than that on the weekends. I know some games can last more than a few hours. read more

The Good: Great selection of games. They carry pretty much everything from your standard Monopoly to your much more hard-to-find specialty games. The Bad: High pricing. I try to make it a point to support businesses in town, but when your pricing is 30-50% higher than what I could buy it for on Amazon, it leaves me little choice but to buy online. I understand it costs more to operate a storefront and will gladly pay up to 25% more because of this, but when it's more than that, I just can't. My first experience with this store came around December. We were shopping for board games and there was a temporary Calendar/Game kiosk just around the corner from this store that was selling many of the same games for less and instead of agreeing to match their price, they badmouthed their competition and lost a sale. If you're going to be the most expensive at least offer exemplary service! Overall: Not a bad store so long as you have money to spare and don't mind paying a steep premium for the same merchandise. read more

Very expensive but they have all the greats and more than likely several versions of it. Not to mention they have a whole wall full of awesome and beautiful puzzles. They have just about everything you'll need to play just about any board or card game. The staff is always on point and friendly and eager to show you new stuff. I love how they also will look and see if they can order something if they don't have it in store or stock! Its a tiny little store but good things come in small packages! Would rather spend $5 more here for a board game and know if I need an expansion or its defective I've got them on my side rather than Wal-Mart who couldn't care less and probably doesn't have what I want anyway! read more

The store has a great selection of games (and their expansions!), but I had a really negative experience yesterday/today. I was looking for One Night Ultimate Werewolf--a fun card game I'm familiar with but wanted to buy a copy of my own. I saw that most of the expansions were on the shelf and asked the girl working if they had the original. She helped me find the box and I checked out. She didn't give me a receipt. When my friends and I tried to play it that same night, we realized that it was the Ultimate Werewolf 5-30 players version (basically meant to be played with large groups or as an expansion to the original). I came back the next day to try to return or exchange the game, and although the employees were fairly kind about it, they were unable to help me, even though I had the card that I paid with. They were also out of stock on the game that I was originally trying to find. Like I said, this store has great games, but make sure you get a receipt and/or double check that you've gotten the right game! read more

I had been searching for a board game store in Reno for a while and never realized Games Galore existed due to it's poor location within Meadowood Mall (it's on a small offshoot of the mall and you would never know it was there unless you needed to use that particular restroom). They had a deal on Living Social, so I purchased it and went in hoping to find a larger selection than the standard-fare board games. I was pleasantly surprised, as they have a large selection of Eurogames (large for Reno, anyway) and other assorted strategy games. The owner can also special order games that you might be looking for. That day I purchased an expansion for Ticket to Ride, Arkham Horror, and Zombie Fluxx. I've been back many times since to add to my collection. I wanted to give a particular shoutout to the employee that was working there (I can't remember her name!) last time I went in. I was looking for fun two-player games that I could play with my boyfriend and she recommended Castle Panic and Carcassonne. Both were great suggestions. Every time I go in, the employees are knowledgeable. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the slight lack of disorganization with the lesser-known board games (things like Monopoly and checkers are the prominently-displayed titles and the other games are stacked at the back of the store) and the prices. They aren't bad if you want instant gratification, but you can obviously find these games a lot cheaper if you are willing to wait a couple days and order from Amazon. read more

The Nicest Staff Anywhere. Games Galore has Pokemon Club on Saturday nights. It's open to the public and is Extremely Welcome and Friendly. You're really treated like one of the family. My son Cooper has been going to Pokemon Club at Games Galore for years. It's Fun! Plus now there are alot more people involved. Weekly tournaments with a $5 entry fee. Prizes are given. We went for Pokemon Club for close to a year an never entered the weekly tournament. We just went there to play and trade. No pressure to join. The other players and staff are willing to help the younger kids learn about and how to play Pokemon. But if you are into MTG or Pokemon or just need lots of space/tables/chairs, absolutely thus is your place. Tgey even have ten or so classic arcade machines in the back, ping pong table, and pool tables. Lots of geek and nerd culture itens for sale. She literally told the guy helping me to stop in the middle of getting my cards. They also have a sign saying they won't be getting MTG Cards from the 18-24th?
