Went before closing last night just to look around and dropped $100 there. Great staff and very friendly. They had a huge selection of everything they sold and it was priced decently. I look forward to shopping there again.

That way he won't be rushing you out, because this isn't a small place and there is a lot to discover. From nearly the moment my children and I entered, an employee followed us from room to room with all the subtlety of a prison guard conducting rounds. Not occasionally checking in. Not discreetly keeping an eye on things. Following us. Room. To. Room. Complete with the unblinking, judgmental stare that made browsing feel less like shopping and more like supervised visitation. I'm not naive. I understand perfectly well why antique stores keep an eye on customers, particularly families with children. Some children are careless. Some parents apparently believe "don't touch" is an infringement on personal liberty. I get it. I've been doing this for decades, and I've specifically taught my children how to behave in antique and thrift stores: be careful, be respectful, and understand that the things around you belong to other people. Which is also why I'd appreciate being allowed to actually parent my own children before a store employee decides to assume the role. At one point, my child--who is under 10--picked up an item to inspect it because he was considering buying it. The employee, who of course was already hovering nearby, gruffly told him that he needed to put it back unless he wanted to buy it. Interesting retail strategy. Perhaps I've misunderstood antiquing all these years, but generally one examines an item BEFORE deciding whether to purchase it. If the store's policy is that customers may look but not touch, pick up, inspect, or otherwise evaluate merchandise, that is certainly their prerogative. Put up a sign saying so. But don't be surprised when customers respond by doing exactly what you apparently want them to do: look--and then leave without buying anything. What bothered me most wasn't even being watched. I'm sure plenty of antique stores quietly keep an eye on customers, and I don't blame them. The difference is that every other antique store I've visited has managed to accomplish this without making customers feel like inmates being escorted through the recreational yard. There is a considerable difference between discreetly monitoring your merchandise and overtly following a family from room to room while communicating suspicion through your expression, posture, and gruff tone. Maybe give people the benefit of the doubt first. If my children start mishandling merchandise, by all means say something. I would probably be saying it before you had the chance. But treating children as a problem before they've actually done anything wrong--and treating their parent as though he cannot possibly supervise them without assistance--is neither welcoming nor particularly conducive to making a sale. And that's the unfortunate part. I've purchased several items here before and would have happily continued doing so. There are individual vendors in this store whose booths I genuinely enjoy browsing, and they are ultimately the ones who lose future sales because I have no desire to shop while being shadowed by a self-appointed warden. Antique stores depend on people being willing to browse, inspect, discover, and occasionally fall in love with something they didn't know they wanted when they walked through the door. That experience becomes considerably less enjoyable when someone is staring over your shoulder waiting for an infraction. So, to the vendors whose booths I've enjoyed and purchased from before: I'm sorry. You have some wonderful things. To the management: if you're going to put someone in a public-facing position, perhaps consider whether they make paying customers feel welcome--or like they should be counting down the days until parole.

The next morning, I got an email that my order was ready for pick up, and it was the additional 2 items. I drove over to Michael's, no order there for pick up. An associate came over to help me; she couldn't find it either. She looked the order up and said, Oh! It's at the Reno store. But I didn't order it for pick up at the Reno store? Yeah, if one store can't fulfill the order, it will be sent to another store in the area. I was not happy. I try to purchase things locally when I can, but I guess going forward I might as well wait the 2-3 days to get something from Amazon.

I pushed the button to get help twice...No one came. I Went up to the front of the store to find someone. Destiny called for someone to help me, I went back to wait for someone to cut fabric. No one came. I went back up front and asked for a manager. Mgr. Sherri came and cut two yards each of beautiful Halloween netting fabric with sparkles for 4.95 a yard. I asked about the clearance fabric that said 9.00 with a pink clearance sticker on it. She measured how much fabric was left on the bolt, 3 yards. She said she would talk to my store manager. She spoke to Zach who told her no. It is supposed be 9.00 a yard. I said that is crazy when the beautiful fabric was 4.95 a yard. I then requested to speak to Store Manager Zach and I told him that if the beautiful sparkly Halloween fabric was 4.95 a yard each, and not in the clearance bin but on the rack, then there is no way on earth, that this off white clearance fabric with 3 yards left on the bolt was 9.00 a yard. I said he was wrong. But his responses, He didn't know anything about fabric and he blamed corporate for this pricing..,but someone in the store put thie pink clearance sticker with 9.00 on the bolt, with all the other similar clearance bolts, with a pink clearance sticker on it that said 9.00 clearance. Zach the store manager would not honor the $9.00 clearance sticker which was on the clearance bolt inside the clearance bin. If this was a clearance bin then they should honor that sticker that someone placed on that bolt and put it into the clearance bin. It was someone in his store, not corporate. FYI, my mom bought something, I bought 4 yards of fabrics and my friend Crystal bought something. We all were excited to come to Michael's. But not anymore...at the Kietzke location in south Reno. I did purchase the two beautiful fabrics at 495 a yard that Cherie cut for me but I am very very disappointed in how Manager Zach treated the situation. As a MICHAELS customer they should've honored that nine dollar clearance bolt because nobody's going to spend nine dollars a yard on something in the clearance bin. I suggest to all of the sewers and quilters, as somebody who shops for a lot of fabric, I suggest you shop for fabric anywhere else but this Michaels because the manager does not know anything about fabrics or bolts or clearance which somebody else in his store put in clearance. Why have a clearance bin if you don't honor the clearance sticker. Also, if you are the store manager you should understand more about fabrics and bolts and clearance bins. I will no longer shop at this Reno Kitzke MICHAELS. I suggest you probably should go to the Sparks Michael's, or Mill End, A-1 Sewing And Vaccum, Sierra Sewing or Going Batty if you want fair pricing on fabric and clearance fabric on the bolt. Do not buy your fabric here because the manager did not honor their own clearance sticker in their own clearance bin. He didn't care. He just went back into his office. And if you're in the fabric section and you push the call button just know nobody's gonna come to help you. But on the bright side... I do want someone to know how excellent Destiny was as a cashier and how kind and helpful she was. Sherri did not even give me a pricing sheet to give to the cashier so destiny had to run back and get the pricing on the Halloween fabric so we could buy it. This experience was not the best and if you want Customer Service helping you with fabrics their call button doesn't work so you'll be waiting back there for a really long time. This review of 1 star is for the store manager Zach for not honoring his own store pricing and the customer service button that doesn't work. Thank you so much to Destiny who should get 5 stars for outstanding customer service for her help in getting a manager to actually cone out if the office and cut fabric, for running back to the fabric section to get the pricing that Cherie had already priced out but did not give me the price sheet, and also a big thanks for checking us out when you should've already been off the clock but you completed the sale with us and your personality was really lovely and delightful . Thank you Destiny for being an outstanding employee I truly hope you get recognized by Michaels in Reno. Julie A
