My girlfriend and I were visiting from our of town and heard about this place. We decided to stop in as we were heading home and I gotta say, it's a cool little shop. I didn't necessarily find anything I wanted but I appreciate the things they had for sale and on display. The young lady behind the counter was really sweet and helpful. She pointed out a lot of the things that were sale and showed the owners display shelf. Kinda wish the owner was there because I would've enjoyed talking to him about the cool collection he had and maybe bargin with buying some pieces off him. I digress, overall it was a chill little shop. I was expecting a little more but it was nice to stop in and see the anime, Star Wars, Marvel figures spread out around the store. read more

Such an awesome store and the owner is the best!!! He is so friendly and my kids and I love to go in and just chat with him about our favorite shows while we look around. I always look forward to seeing his booth at local conventions also. Definitely a shop you should stop by and check out! read more

My teen and I have visited KD probably 7 or 8 times now and each visit has been a treat. My teen is a HUGE Hatsune Miku fan and until only a few months ago, KD was really the only place we knew of to get Miku fandom items. Granted, it's a kitsch fandom in the Eastern Sierra. Anyhow, even if KD is running low on Miku merch, we always find something we like! Our most recent visit scored us two Funko Soda blind cans for Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse which was a pleasant surprise. They also had a few new Star Wars cans but we passed on those. Previous visits have awarded us Miku figures, TokiDoki blind bags, specialty Japanese treats, a few collectors pins (I scored an Armorer pin, yay me!) and more. I find their prices to be very reasonable with their Miku items being within a $1 of the Tokyo shop in the mall. Service is always amazing. Great family owned business run by fellow geeks, freaks, and fandom folk. Make sure to visit both shops! They're different in what they stock. And a word to the wise: if you can back into a parking spot you'll have a MUCH easier time getting back on to Pyramid. KD is across from the quilting shop just a touch past in n out on the west side of the road. read more

This is a great little toy and collectibles store. I had seen it a few times while driving by but was never at the right time and was usually closed. I finally was in the area at the right time and they were open so I decided to check it out. They have a lot of collectibles and most of them are directly imported from Japan and may be stuff you don't just find at any store easily. I was too distracted checking everything out and talking to the attendant and didn't get to take many pictures but in a way that is a good thing that way you should visit and check out what they have in person. I only took one picture of a funko I was trying to see if it would fit where I wanted to put it, that's why my hand is in the picture for size reference. I definitely recommend the store if you are into collectibles. They have funko's, gundams, little capsule toys and so on. read more

Walking into K/D EMPIRE feels like being a kid again, walking into Toys"R"Us. Every time I come here, I have to leave with something new for my collection. There are so many items to chose from: Gundam models, Funko Pops, anime figures, and all kinds of merch from DC, Marvel, Disney, Hello Kitty, Star Wars, etc. It's the perfect place for kids, adults and hobbyists alike. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. I've had such great conversations with them, nerding out over My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Stores like this used to be exclusive to larger cities like L.A. and San Francisco, so its nice to have a haven like this in the Biggest Little City. Stopped here to shop for my little sisters birthday gift. The location of the store is hidden yet right in front of your face. It is tough parking wise because Pyramid Hwy is always busy. But I'm glad I went to check them out. They had such neat things. I'm personally not into Japanese Pop Culture, gaming, etc but I still was able to look around and find a lot of cool things for myself and my kids. They were very reasonably priced, I felt like a lot of items were collectible. If you are a toy collector, this is the place for you. They have a variety of mystery box collectibles, and a trading shelf next to the counter if you accidentally get one you already have. I was especially pleased to see they sold tokidoki unicorno figurines. :D Edit: This is a great store for Pops as well. read more

If you're a collector this is the place to go. So I was going to give this place a four a half star but I rounded up to five. Because it's just that good! The half a star lost would've been for parking. It's a crappy parking lot but the owner can't really do much about it. Besides that the outside of the building is awesome. There is this huge art piece on the outside of the wall that is really artistic. When going in the store it is bright. Fairly small but very very clean. Everything has its own place. And the floors you just can't miss them. They are cluttered free and looks like they are well-kept clean. The majority of the time I go when the owner is there. He is awesome!! He's very nice and informative. If there is something that you want and is not there, you just ask Javier about the item and he will order it! The other worker is nice as well. Like I said if your a collector, what better place to go then a local collector shop! Where there are amazing people, and clean environment! read more

Figurines, minifigures, cool Japanese snacks, this place has it all. It's a tiny store, so you don't have to waste your time looking around for what you want. It'll either be there or not. And if it's not there, chances are you can ask one of the cashiers to take a look for you and maybe order it. It's a community location, so people from the Reno figurine communities, anime, superhero stuff, come here to hang out with Javi, the store owner. He is one of the nicest buisness owners I have ever met. My girlfriend and I decorate our house with figures from movies, tv shows, and video games we like. A lot of them are from K/D Empire. I was looking for a gift for one of my friends who really enjoys Japanese pop culture, especially anime and manga. I did not think Reno would have such a place as K/D Empire! It is one of the few anime stores in town. They are located in Sparks, and I will admit this place was hard to spot because they don't have a lot of signage, nor a decent parking lot that you can easily get in/out of. However, they sell a good variety of figurines, from small to large, including Funko POP!s. They also sell snacks, shirts, keychains, and other toys from various popular anime shows/movies. Perhaps the coolest thing I think that they sell is artwork, which are all done by local Reno artists. I was admiring a piece of artwork they had on display, to which the person at the counter happily took out a binder to show me other pieces of work for sale. She also told me that if you are looking for something from a particular anime/manga, the owner would special order it for you. If I remember correctly, however, they ask you to put down a payment so they know you will actually come back for the item you special ordered, but it would be best to double check. Unfortunately they didn't have what I was looking for, but a great little novelty shop nonetheless! read more

I've been to this small shop a few times, and I love the range of imported merch from various aspects of Japanese Pop Culture. They have trinkets like keychains and straps to Gundam/Other Mecha model kits and even scale figures. The people running the store are the nicest people around and it's very fun to talk and nerd out with them. If you are a nerd on the otaku spectrum, you NEED to visit this place. read more

By far the coolest shop I've come across in awhile! The girls working in there were super nice and the selection was so good! Long time toy collector here, I've been driving past this shop for a few months now and finally decided to check it out. The guy that runs the place (Avi I think is his name?) was super nice and helpful and the trading system is awesome! the folks at Happy Happy could really take a page from his book. He has a bunch of open doubles on the counter for trade. Now I can finally get rid of my cupboard full of doubles without losing money or needing to attend a trading party! Shop was very clean and presentation was excellent. I will definitely be going here again. This store caters more to the vinyl/custom toy and model enthusiast culture, whereas Reno's other Kidrobot carrying toy store is more for kids' toys with a small display in the corner. Its not often you go somewhere and immediately feel as welcome as KD Empire. This store is one of a kind. They have a large variety of collectibles, accessories, apparel, and even hard to find snacks, all from a huge variety of fandoms. The owner is fantastic as well, having excelent customer service along with being verry knowledgeable about his products. Not to mention, verry easy to talk to. I spotted this place taking my kid to therapy a few years ago. She is OBSESSED with anything and everything of Japanese culture so I had to take her! They have every kind of blind box you could imagine, and will let you open them there in case you get two of a kind or just want to trade. Right now they're running a buy two get one free deal on blind boxes, otherwise they have a punch card to buy ten get your 11th free. I took my daughter for her birthday yesterday and she had a blast! She got blind boxes, POP figures, a Gudetama plush that is SO cute and some Ramune (a Japanese soda that is pretty interesting to open, lol) Her only disappointment was that they no longer carry Japanese candy, but that is definitely not going to stop us from going back. This is our "Special Occasion" spot, my kid will always ask to go for reward/celebration/special occasions. The staff there are ALWAYS friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! I found this store cruising around on Facebook and I couldn't be happier. My son and I collect all kinds of vinyl figures and as soon as we walked in we loved this store. They have nearly every vinyl figure you can think of from pops, to minis, to munny's, to vinylmation and more. I wanted to buy every t-shirt in the place. Javier is the owner and he is awesome. The store is very well organized and you can tell he loves his store. I coulda stayed all day. They even have vinyl figure trading parties, and you can come in an trade without making a purchase.
