Came in here this evening to enjoy dinner with my fam. We were greeted and seated right away. We were brought water immediately. Our server was phenomenal. Brought us our appetizers and told us the specials for the night. The coconut shrimp was hands down my favorite part about our meal it was absolutely divine!!!! The bread was good to brought with olive oil and balsamic vinegar so yummy. I ordered the special which was a scallop and shrimp pasta it was delicious. My husband ordered the cioppino spelling that wrong but it was delicious too. I ordered my little spaghetti and she devoured it!!! Overall it was a great meal and a very neat atmosphere! It was decorated pirate theme so neat! We will be back !!!

Welcome to the Twilight Zone The search for a nice Italian meal on a Monday night in Reno proved to be a minor challenge, but we found this quirky place in Sparks that had pretty solid reviews. Yes, Monday nights are notoriously the day people actually take a day off in the restaurant business here in Washoe County. Upon entry you realize this is going to be a unique experience. Pirate theme? Goth theme? Italian restaurant theme??! The restaurant, which is part of the Best Western hotel, is large, open, comfortable, cool and eclectic. It also boasts a private room for parties that is suuuuuper cool. Our party of 6 sat at a large round table which made conversation a breeze. 3 more guests would have easily fit. Our Server, the incomparable Gabi, made our time there a night to remember. Cute, funny, sarcastic, genuine... she was an absolute joy. She gave us great recommendations, kept us watered up, alcoholed, laughtered up, etc. So a big thank you and shout out! How was the food, you ask???! Absolutely fantastic! I must say I was skeptical, despite the good reviews, but it outperformed masterfully.. The house salad, the Wedge and the Caesar salads were super tasty with excellent dressings. The garlic bread (we ordered 3 servings) was super garlicky and perfectly crisp. We also ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms that were about my favorite thing, besides the tantalizing Bruschetta! The mains were also plentiful, tasty and perfectly cooked. The Chicken Parmesan could be cut with a fork, the Picatta was sublime, the Lasagna was huge and perfect. Everything was truly top notch including the excellent bar drinks. The bartender was a little slammed so the drinks were occasionally tardy, but Gabi covered for it well with the laughter and smiles. We were at Gambi's for 2 1/2 hours with never a dull moment. We finished with a piece of Key lime pie and a couple of "small" cannoli's (they were huge)! Yum, Yum, Yum! It's going to be a big menu to work through, but challenge accepted! We are thinking our company Christmas Party has found a new home. Keep up the great work!!! Cheers JimG

The piraty theme is over the top and the food has always been first rate. My wife and I are on our third visit and each time we have had good results. The food is not only good but it's arranged with a good eye. I asked for the burger, no bun, double 1/2 lb cooked medium to perfection, added everything on the menu and they included bacon which wasn't on the menu. The other things included blue cheese dressing, blue cheese crumbles, tomato, raw onion, cheddar cheese, avocado, on a special side salad. Tasty!

Dined here on a week night for dinner. I kept seeing great reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. Delicious! The decor was fun and pirated themed. Each table had the silverware in a skull head which was a nice touch. The servers are were so friendly, helpful and had a bit of a sense of humor. I ordered the lobster ravioli. It was delicious! The prawns do come with part of the shell on so beware of that. That's just a personal preference though. My table also had the bread basket. I loved that it came with a dipping sauce. It was less traditional than a butter topping. Excited to come back and try more items!

From the moment we walked in I knew this place was going to be my kind of spot. The ambiance is everything rocker pirate vibes dim lighting live music and just the right amount of edge. It felt intimate but energetic at the same time and once dinner hit the place definitely filled up and turned into a fun lively scene. Totally my vibe. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered a seafood pasta that was similar to a cioppino and WOW. I never finish my plates like ever. But this time I cleaned it (I attached evidence as proof). It was hands down the winner of the night. My boyfriend ordered a chicken pasta dish which he said was good but nothing that blew him away. Solid choice but definitely overshadowed by my seafood masterpiece. The drinks were also amazing. We ordered a lemon drop, mai tai, an old fashioned and a Cadillac margarita. EVERY single one was on point. Balanced strong and clearly made with care. Service was great! very attentive and friendly. Even when the restaurant got busy we never felt ignored and everything came out in a timely manner. Between the incredible seafood pasta delicious cocktails fun edgy atmosphere and great service I'll definitely be back. Already looking forward to round two.

Hear me out. Going to a pirate theme restaurant, that serves Italian, connected to a Best Western is not our usual and was almost a deterrent. We decided to try it anyways if nothing else for a good laugh. Thankfully, we went with the reviews. Oddly, enough we really enjoyed our date night here. Pro: lots of parking, easy to get seated and the seat were comfortable. The server was very friendly and the noise level was comfortable. There was a pianist playing songs but it was pleasant and added to the atmosphere. The timing of the dishes takes some time, so be prepared to wait. Not an abnormally long wait but they definitely aren't using "Chef Mike". We started with their coconut shrimp. The husband had a wedge salad, and then chicken fettuccine Alfredo and a side of garlic bread. I had the chicken Marsala. All the portions were a good size, and I ended up taking half of mine home. All in all this was a really nice change of pace and we will definitely come back.

We had reservations that were made easily through open table at 5:15 yesterday. We arrived a little bit early and were greeted by the hostess and seated in a booth by the bar. I loved that they had bar seating and tvs if we came back for a more casual date night or if I was even working nearby for a quick lunch. Gabby was our server and took great care of us. We were given water right away, heard the specials and she gave us a moment to decide what we would like. I was bummed that they were out of the giant scallops, but since it wasn't mentioned during the specials as an item they were out of I wouldn't have set my heart on having that as my entrée. We ordered their primerib slider special as an appetizer and we were so glad that we did. They were delicious! For entrées we ordered their lobster ravioli, veal ravioli and a side of risotto. Everything was divine and we had some leftovers to pack up and bring home. We shared their chocolate kahlua cake and I need this recipe for home! I loved their pirate theme and had no idea that they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at different hours! I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to Gambis to try their other menus. I'm not sure if the bartender was new or if she needed help, but we didn't receive our Moscow mule and a glass of chardonnay until after we received our entrées. That isn't okay that I saw my glass of chardonnay sitting there waiting for that Moscow mule to join after we received our appetizer. My chardonnay was no longer chilled by the time I received it. Our server checked on it a few times, but the Moscow mule wasn't made yet. That was the only thing that kept me from having a 5 star experience this time. Everyone else worked together, bussing our table and checking on us. We had everything, but our drinks. Thank you Gabby and the other support staff; You guys were awesome!

Try Gambi's for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised with the breakfast offering, although no gluten free options, the Gambi Scramble was delightful! Lucky me they were out of ground beef so they gave me a little steak with my eggs. It was really good! We were disappointed that they did not have hashbrowns, but the home fries were decent. My parents loved their omelettes, they made a ham and cheese for my mom and my stepdad got the mermaid. Everything tasted great! They had a sad looking buffet, probably for the hotel guests? Idk. The place was empty at 11am on a Sunday. I took a peek in the back when I wanted to snag our server to get our order in before breakfast ended. I'm a former chef and it was definitely clean back there. The coffee was meh, but it was clear this place focuses on their dinner trade. Excellent service, of course, we were the only people there for most of our meal. This is a great brunch spot but management appears to be more focused o the dinner and bar trade. Long story short, give it a try! I'd like to see where they take it; there's a good market for brunch I. sparks, I hope.

Unbelievable... soooooo GOOOOOD. I was so happy we came here .. the Italian sauce is amazing.. the best calimari I have ever had.. the best. The Terimisu is home made and out of this world good. Home made by the bartender... the spaghetti and meat balls - delightful. The stuffed mushrooms with the sausage has a great taste with a little spice. Can I have some more? I thought I was back in south Philly eating at an Italian grandmas kitchen. The space was rich and thick. Just right. The noodles on the spaghetti were perfect.. the chef really knows how to cook. The rigatoni' bolognese with the sauce and I added meatballs. They were perfect. Round . Moist and soled up the sauce.. I will be back. With more people... I will say the best Calimari and Terimisu I have EVER had.. THE BEST. The staff is really nice and attentive, very good looking people and the service is top notch. It's in the front of the Best Western hotel and very easy parking. Well lit and lots of space.. The pirate and skulls added a little mystery , lots of TV's with sports . A big bar area . So lots of room. We came around 6 and it started to fill up. I can see why. After we sat down. 4 other tables came in. It appears steady with customers.. that's nice to see. WE WILL BE BACK.

Calamari
Brittany H.

Best Calamari in Reno..... Hands down, better then any seafood, steak house or Italian restaurant in the ENTIRE city. Tender and Fried perfectly.... Our waiter was amazing. He was quick and friendly. The restaurant decor is pirate/dark/dungeon. Not my style but the food was amazing and I will definitely be back.

Staff was super friendly. Restaurant has a great theme and ambiance. Beet salad was amazing and the wine paired perfectly!

Chicken gnocchi and ribeye steak

Ambience was clean and different than any restaurant i've been to in reno! Took a few minutes to get seated but overall our server was very attentive and friendly. We got the coconut shrimp for an appetizer it was very yummy. subtle coconut taste. I had the gnocchi with alfredo sauce and chicken. The gnocchi was sooo soft and delicious

Spaghetti
Edidiong E.

The food was well priced, the ambience is so nice. It's very rustic and well decorated. I went to get takeout. The spaghetti and meat balls was delicious and seasoned properly. My only complaint was that the sauce was a little too tart for my liking.

It is very hidden and probably wouldn't think to go here but I highly recommend that you do. We were a little underdressed for how fancy this place is but they were super welcoming and we also had our child in his stroller (he was sleeping) but they accommodated us perfectly. This is one of the nicest and best Italian places I've been to by far. It's also nice and quiet but with just enough noise. The food is even more amazing. Glad we decided to try them out. I got the manicotti pasta which comes with 3 different sauces on it- pesto, alfredo, and marinara. They like to put all three to represent the Italian flag. I thought that was pretty creative but also gave a great variety of flavor in each bite. Unfortunately the bread they offer when you first sit down was lacking for me. It wasn't anything special. I did wish they offered a garlic bread with the dish or some better variety of breads a softer or more flavorful one at the table to munch on. Maybe even with some oil and vinegar. I did pair my dinner with a glass of a Sangiovese they have which paired well with my dinner. We ended the night with a crème brûlée and it was delicious and they make it in house fresh every day. Our server was very good at helping with some recommendations from the menu when we asked for them. She was also very attentive. The atmosphere is very relaxing in here and the tables set up very nicely to give an elegant feel while dining. If you're looking for an Italian spot in the sparks area and don't want to travel into town in the Reno area you must check this restaurant out!

I think I ate most of this dish. Love me some calamari! Toasted Focaccia Bruschetta - Hit for our group. I enjoyed it also, but the calamari was still my favorite. Complimentary Bread - So good!! Always a favorite. We always have to get seconds. If you want 3rds, it comes with a $4 upcharge, but that is still worth it in my book. House Salads - Nothing special, but also not bad. Fresh, decent quantity, and with dressing on the side. Two Cesar Salads - Our guests enjoyed this. $5 upcharge each. Cups of Minestrone Soups - Good. Cup of Egg Drop Soup - One of our guests wanted to try this; $5 upcharge. Linguine & Clams - Both in white and red sauce. My choice was the red sauce. I kept forgetting that this comes with BABY clams as I prefer larger clams, and actually if it was still in the shell, that would be an extra plus. NOTE to self, do not keep getting this... Eggplant Parmigiana - Home run, both ladies that got this loved it! Huge slices of eggplant. Baked and fried well. Eggplant Parmigiana with Grilled Chicken - WOW, generous portions. I think my wife took ¾ of her dish home... She got another two meals out of it. Sauteed Calamari Steak - This looked good, I might get it next time. Our newest addition to our group. She also took half her entree home. Grilled Prawn Picatta - Not a large quantity, but because all of us (except one) are light eaters, our guest still took half home. Another good entree. I will also add this to my list for next time. Special Chicken Pomodoro - Decent portions, my buddy devoured this. He is a good eater. One of the few in our group, lol. Dessert, Tiramisu - This was really good. We should have ordered a second one... And to wash it all down, I got a glass of Italian white wine which I really did not enjoy... Atmosphere - Double storefront. We seemed to always end up sitting in the second room but not today! I liked that they had a bar in each room. Table, booth, or bar seating. Two unisex restrooms. Plenty of parking. See pictures for business hours. Open 6 days a week; closed Mondays. Service - Good. We had a leisurely 2 hour dinner and never felt rushed. We were catching up with our good friends and new friends. Price - $323 + generous tips. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1990 as Davos; we have been customers for a very long time. Glad we are back and introducing our friends to your restaurant. Mid 1990 - Coco Pazzo, then renamed to Panevino. 2000 - Zozo's.

Aside from that the food was really good and would like to come back and given another shot. Hopefully this waiter does not work there anymore.

My hubby and I had a wonderful dinner at La Famiglia! It was a perfect date night place to go…read morebefore a Reno Phil performance next door at the Pioneer Center. Regina was our wonderful waitperson and she was from the beginning very helpful and clearly explained that her focus was about getting us out in time for the 7:00 performance start time. We had 5:00 reservations so it was great that we were there early. We ordered the grilled artichokes with a lemon aioli for an app and it was delicious. We had this before and just a tasty as ever. We also had a Caesar salad and we both think it's one of the best Caesars in town. My main entrée was a chicken marsala (5+/5). On the meu it's a veal marsala, but when I asked Regina if it could be chicken, she said yes! It was a perfect dish. The chicken was cooked exactly as it should, tender and flavorful! The mushrooms and marsala sauce with the pasta side made the whole dish one of the best I've had. I would definitely order this again!! My hubby ordered the chicken saltimbocca (5+/5) and his dish was absolutely delicious too. The prosciutto and sage were flavor enhancers for sure! Both dishes had a broccolini as the veggie and it too was prepared well. For dessert we shared an affogato. The added drizzle of caramel and chocolate sauce made it very special! We had the most enjoyable time and delicious food. We will certainly return more often. There are so many menu items we want to explore the next time. Thank you La Famiglia for a great dinner outing. We'll be back soon!

Had a group dinner here. I'm not a wine drinker, but many enjoyed the selection…read more The lasagna bolognese had decent flavor. One coworker enjoyed her mushroom filled pasta in cream sauce, another coworker had steak and did not care for it--but you're at an Italian restaurant, not a steakhouse. All the dishes were HUGE portions, so you will not go hungry. Pass on the chocolate mousse--it was grainy and unappealing. Service was top notch and made up for some of the meal's shortcomings.
