Surprising to walk in on a Friday night and see this place empty. The decor was your classic 50's diner. Pictures of iconic performers from the era adorned the walls. Plenty of checkerboard and chrome accents filled the rest. I had to meltdown patty and I have to admit, the best part of the meal were the Galaxy fries. They were crispy and well seasoned. I'd come back but only for the fries

Great service, and frankly that and the ambience are the only reason this place gets a 3 star. Took 30 minutes longer than the rest of the food to get my milkshake, and the flavors really just blended into vanilla instead of mint and raspberry... I was not impressed by their vegetarian selection, a lot of stuff was either made with meat broth or had bacon hidden in it. I finally settled on the zucchini sticks and they gave me back clearly two different types of fried zucchini-- one was round little medallions and one was long and thin like a mozzarella stick. Two different batters, two different cuts, it really did not look appetizing.

The food wasnt really all that great at least the server was nice if I were in Flagstaff I would check out other restaurants. The whole place was just off and mostly empty. The food wasn't all that worth it sad to see a historic route 66 restaurant in this state.

So this place we went hoping for just simple breakfast. The ambience was set like an old diner. The food which is OK. I had an omelette and it was just nothing special. My friend had the waffle which she thought was just OK. The service was good though.

Ah! I love this place! I lived in Flagstaff during middle school (20 years ago) and this was a go-to spot back then for weekend family breakfast and after school fries anf milkshakes with friends. Coming through Flag moving to Phoenix I was so happy to see it's still here! Food has remained the same yummy, greasy diner food, but the prices have definitely gone up. I love the cacophony of celebrity photos on the walls and the vibes are right out of Grease.

I ordered one of the limited edition holiday meals- beef burgundy - and it was delicious! I didn't expect such a delicious and elevated dish at a diner but I was impressed. They had a lot of options for hot cocoa which I was obsessed with and had to order the French vanilla hot cocoa! I also ordered a root beer and it was a classic old fashioned styled root beer and I couldn't get enough!! The service was really great my server was a champ working all by herself as a server! The diner itself is super old school 1950s diner and it's adorable. Definitely stop here if you're on Route 66 or visiting flagstaff

Dad's heading back down the mountain soon and I'm always sad to see him go. But one thing we have started to do is our traditional good bye breakfast at Galaxy Dinner. This morning I had French toast with eggs and bacon, which dad shared his potatoes with me. And Dad got the corn beef with the toast and eggs. Unfortunately we had to get it changed out since they mix bell peppers with their corn beef, but we got bacon instead and it worked. A great breakfast to get dad down the mountain! And as always we'll be back again! (If you've never seen Galaxy Dinner's neon, highly recommend eating here too, it's so cool!)

Maybe you're an east coast gal like me craving diner food from a greasy spoon in New Jersey? We had a delicious breakfast here. The potatoes alone made me nearly weep. You just don't get potatoes like that everywhere. If you're in Flagstaff or on your way to the Grand Canyon or Sedona stop in!

It's a cute diner and we went here for dinner. Fast service and good food. He got the fish basket and I got the turkey platter. Maddie talked us into getting a milkshake as well. They have 100+ flavors to choose from, he got coffee and I got Orange Colada. The food and the shakes were both delicious. If nothing else, one here and get a milkshake!!!

They were welcoming when you go into the establishment. There's signs everywhere that say no photos no videos. The server didn't really know the menu or know the shake menu. Food is typical diner food but doesn't have that wholesome diner feel or taste. Price point is something you'd expect out of an actual restaurant not a diner the fact between two people you spend 60$ and ask for a tip. Save yourself the effort and just go to in n out you get more food better service and the staff that are cleaning the tables their rags don't look like they haven't been changed since the 50's. This place could have the most potential especially the area and history but it's just a thing of the past with sub par food. And horrible service

My daughter and I spent the weekend in Flagstaff and this gem was nearby. We got lured by the retro neon sign and the offer of 100 different milkshakes. We got seated right away and were greeted by one of the most beautiful smiles, our server Rae. She was truly a delight and created such a special atmosphere for my daughter and I to enjoy the amazing country fried steak, galaxy potatoes and coffee that seemed to have been brewed from celestial coffee beans as it was a deliciously silky coffee! Rae made sure to take care of us throughout our entire meal and we even had some live music by a gentleman who took requests and played the classic Soggy Bottom Boys from the feature film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

Does anyone know why this diner closed? I loved going there when I was in Flagstaff! The staff was always very friendly and the waffles were to die for!

Not sure why they closed but they have just reopened, writing this August 9, 2020.

I've eaten here countless times and I'm never disappointed. They serve breakfast and lunch and have a variety of dishes, including vegetarian options. I can truly say there's nothing bad on this menu! The staff is always super welcoming and friendly and the ambiance is refreshing. It's a smaller space and it does get pretty busy, so be aware of that. The best part is that the cafe is family owned, with roots in Playa del Carmen, MX. I HIGHLY recommend Madrez if you're looking for a delicious and authentic Mexican brunch spot. Support local!

My partner and I ordered a chorizo burrito, a skillet poblano, and a plain waffle. While everything was just okay, it honestly felt like something we could have made better at home. I especially wouldn't recommend the waffles -- they were very airy, almost like toast, and at $14 they just didn't feel worth it. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but it's not somewhere I'd return to.

The prosciutto in the Savory Croissant Waffle was a star. Also, shoutout to a place that can genuinely do both coffee and food well. That's rarer than it should be. We opted for a hot vanilla oatmilk latte and a Matcha Americano. We got both of these to go. The vanilla latte didn't have any sweetener or vanilla in it. I'm not sure if they maybe put a little bit but nothing really pulled through. The coffee itself was extremely strong, which is not a bad thing considering we were on our truck back home so it's a good thing to stay awake. The ceremonial Matcha was very light in the Americano. I'm not sure what their measurement is, but it could have used another half a teaspoon, at least. The patio is dog friendly and there was a pup out there already at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. We had a standard queen room both times and it's spacious, bathroom has two sinks one in and one out so yconvenient for two people sharing. The pool is a roundish shape but large enough to swim some laps when there aren't a lot of children there. There are four 2 level inter connected buildings and #4 being the furthest away from the lobby - you can park your car (parking is free) close to any building but it's a bit of a walk on foot. Location is a bit out of town not walking distance to downtown Flagstaff. Rating it a 3 star due to service. On a day when they don't seem to be full they still wouldn't accommodate a late check out by just an hour (at noon instead of 11 am) which I didn't think would have made any difference to them but would have made a huge one for us. Then there is the breakfast. Nice dining room and all, but service was slow and the food came lukewarm, this at a time when it was early and hardly anyone in the dining room. And in addition to that, I had tea and it came in a tea pot with one weak tea bag, and as I like my tea strong I asked for another tea bag in the same pot and was told I'd be charged a second pot of tea ($5). This kind of stinginess just doesn't befit the seeming stature of such a hotel. And finally, the teacup they gave me had a long crack in it - I discovered it when i saw the saucer filing up with tea and didn't think I spilled any in it. The crack was old and stained, not a new one, so it was shocking that no staff had noticed it for this long and cared enough to not continue using it. Let's just say I'd never encountered broken cups like this in lesser priced motels. For this trip to Flagstaff I also had a two-night stay in another hotel downtown and other than the swimming pool, it was much better value and more comfortable with more helpful staff - and no broken tea cups!

I wanted to try everything! They're known for their chilaquiles. They have a motto: This is the place that chilaquiles was built. But I went against my better judgement and ordered Jerry el Mujeriego (enchilada filled with pork green chile, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, and topped with two over medium eggs. They're served with rice, beans, potatoes, and tortilla). My wife ordered Juevos Benedictos, eggs Benedict. When they brought our plates out, I couldn't believe how much food they gave us. The plates were full to the edges. Of course it came down to the flavors. My plate was just IOK. I was really expecting flavors that would pop, something that would stand out Mexican! Everything was kind of bland. I hate to say it, but it was as if they were catering to non Mexicans. I'm not Mexican, but I'm in a Mexican restaurant and I want bold Mexican flavors. Granted, they give you a lot of food. Maybe that's more important to some people. Now I wish I ordered their chilaquiles! My wife's Benedict was delicious however! The eggs were perfectly cooked and her dish was seasoned and had flavor. So our visit wasn't a total miss. I'm torn on how to rate them. A 3 or 4? I wish there were half ratings then I'd rate them a solid 3.5! I'll round it up!

There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area is especially impressive. They have what looked like a private dining space inside a barn-style shed, several gas fire pits, and even a slightly elevated platform that looked perfect for live music. The food itself was outstanding. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and my wife got the chilaquiles. Both portions were huge. The chicken and biscuits were exactly what I was hoping for: smothered in rich country gravy with a perfectly fried flattened chicken breast that was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The buttermilk biscuit was golden, flaky, buttery, and had the perfect balance of soft interior and crisp edges. I honestly got full halfway through my plate and never even got a chance to try the wife's chilaquiles. I feel like we'd only been seated just a hot second when the food arrived! Fabulous service - quick and friendly and always with a smile. Hubby and I each got a cup of fresh brewed coffee that did not disappoint! Not too weak, not too strong... brewed to perfection! My husband ordered the chicken and biscuit and I the chilaquiles Christmas style. Lord have mercy both of these dishes were the bomb! Not only plenty of food but super tasty - I had my chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and they also came with about 1/2 a freshly sliced avocado. Nice, tangy flavor and sprinkled with just the right amount of cotija cheese! Shared with the table and still had leftovers (and I'm not mad about it). Husband's dish was perfection - the perfect biscuit combo - fluffy, chewy and crunchy in all the right places, and the gravy not overly seasoned or salty. Chicken was a breaded/fried (possibly baked) and cooked/seasoned just right. Inner meat was tender and moist and outside of course was crunchy - batter was well seasoned and breast didn't seem greasy at all. I worked in a mom-and-pop coffee shop decades ago - everything was homemade and fresh and the coffee 2 die 4. This establishment brought me back to those times in regard to coffee/food quality and hospitality! Will 100p be returning when next we're in town!
