Cool place, descent food, service sucks though. I have drove by the place a few times and have always wanted to try it. I walk- in to place a to go order and instead of getting a 2-piece wrap ($10) with an order of deviled eggs ($6) (which would of cost me over $16), I got an order of deviled eggs ($6) and asked if I could get a tender ($3), with a tortilla on the side with some cheese and a side of ranch ($2). I'm cool with ranch being $2 but the cashier asked the guy in the back how to ring it up it was $3 for the tender, $2 for the ranch, AND $3 FOR THE TORTILLA! For a total of $8 plus tax (Mind you the 2-piece loaded wrap is $10). I believe the exact total was $14.84, didn't really save me any money or do me any favors. I mean for 1 dollar some change I could have had twice the wrap and the guy looks at me funny for not tipping him. Then I leave, get out to my car, no deviled eggs. Go back in to get my deviled eggs which they didn't realize I got because everybody spends $14.84 on a tortilla, cheese, 1 tender, and a side of ranch (insert sarcasm). Then when I get my deviled eggs, they only gave me 6 and they advertise 8 on their website, oh and they ate up my whole overpriced, crappy service lunch hour. I will never be back, they probably won't miss me anyway. It's sad too because this could be phenomenal place to eat with your pals. And yes, i may have spent the same amount of money if I wasn't overcharged for my food on the tip, but the difference is I would've been happy. read more

Very unique breading that I found out the next day is gluten free (if that matters to you). They also have Jack fruit choice which I've had elsewhere and loved as a vegetarian choice. I came across this restaurant in a City Beat article. Gluten-free fried chicken!? That is like a dream come true. The vibe of the restaurant is retro diner. A vibe I like but basically always means it's a place with nothing for me to eat. I was over the moon that this restaurant suited me so well. The menu is simple. It really appealed to the kid in me that wants simple, comforting foods. We decided my chicken tenders were the most economical chicken purchase. They were huge! So much chicken and the cheapest. We split the fries. They were salty and crisp and also gluten-free. The chicken was fantastic. I believe I just detected celery salt in there. If you don't like celery salt, watch out. I'm afraid this place didn't do much for me. The chicken was a bit on the tougher side, and the breading came off before you get a bit into the chicken. The seasoning was way too salty for my taste, but most folks might be fine with that - I just try to eat less salt. The fries were also dunked in a lot of salt. It was all freshly made though. Had an awesome first experience at Galactic Fried Chicken! I went on a Friday evening with 2 of my friends and the staff was very friendly we took a seat at the booth and ordered at the counter once the line was cleared. They were definitely busy but didn't let it show they made recommendations and went out of their way to be friendly. The food came quickly and was delicious! I didn't personally eat the fried pickles but my friends enjoyed them. The tenders were so crispy but also thick and the meat was not dry at all. I feel like sometimes when people get the tenders that crispy the meat dries out but they have it figured out. Went for dinner on a Saturday. It is set up to order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. The staff was very nice and made us feel right at home. We got a half chicken and some sides. Finally tried Galactic this evening. You can tell that this a popular local dive. Employees were friendly and welcoming. Music was good and just the right volume. While the price point was reasonable for two people ($45 for two people...9 pcs of chicken, coleslaw, fries and a drink), the chicken was not as tasty as we had hoped for. It was very salty. The tenders were large and other pieces were good sized. It was well cooked and food was hot. The slaw was average but the fries were fresh and good. Probably not on our list of restaurants that we'll drive 40 minutes to eat at again. The place could use a renovation on the inside without losing too much of it's history. Recommend? We have it for church picnics, firehouse fundraisers and for different holidays. With a name like this, they definitely stood out and we were ready to try it. The breading on the chicken is great, it's full of chicken flavor and reminded me of chicken ramen noodles as crazy as that sounds. It just tastes very similar to that seasoning packet. The white meat was tough, almost tasted like it wasn't done. I kept trying with hopes in every bite it would get better, but it just didn't. I couldn't eat anymore, the texture was off and weird and I was not enjoying it. The brown meat was a little better, but not much. All of the breading came off with one pull off the chicken leg. It's like when you take a bite of the pizza and ALL the cheese comes off the slice in one bite. Coleslaw was juicy and not dry but didn't have much flavor. The fries were great though and we loved the buttery, garlic parmesan sauce that they were coated in. At first, it was weird because you don't really see the seasoning or sauce but definitely taste it! Not sure if we tried the chicken on the wrong day of the week or what, but we were not impressed. I honestly have no idea how this restaurant doesn't have a full rating. I'm no one to judge peoples experiences, but if you had a bad experience here, then it most certainly is an outlier. So, I only visited here this one time since this is my first time in Cincinnati area. This review could have got a completely different route. But it didn't, and here is why. There was a bit of a panic going on with the employees, and I was told that I had to wait 20 minutes to even order because they were down to only one fryer after two others had broke. Fortunately, I had nowhere to be and nowhere to go, so I decided to sit in a separate seating area that was not prepared for guest yet. I ran into the owner, and could tell how flustered and frustrated he was. He apologized through and through to me about the situation, and continued to run rampant throughout the restaurant, trying to solve the problem. Shortly thereafter, I went and placed my order of three chicken thighs and Texas toast. After a short while my food was delivered to the table, I was seated at. I began to peel the skin off of the first thigh to take a bite and could smell the seasoning. Steam came off of the chicken and as I ate the skin, I was immediately fulfilled. I have eaten a lot of fried chicken in my life being from the south, but I can honestly say with a straight face that this is the best fried chicken I've ever had that I can remember. Most of my reviews contain comments about sides and drinks and service. However, with this one, none of those is necessary because I just simply don't care. The fact that the chicken was this good was undeniable. Sure, the Texas toast was tasty, but that chicken... Unbelievable I can't wait for the next time that I visit Cincinnati so I return to the establishment kudos to the owner and his staff for taking care of his customers while in frantic mode. It was a bit of a haul for us to make it to the Galactic Chicken but it was well worth it. Freshly fried and quickly served makes a happy customer. They have sides but the chicken and the cracklings are what you want to eat if you come here. All chicken is prepared as the order is called out. Ventilation of the fried chicken exhaust might be a plus but until they get some, you get to leave smelling of fried chicken goodness. Homemade sauces were offered but I personally liked the malt wine vinegar that was just sitting on the table. Also, a good selection of beers but whenever I see a low end Hamm's Genessee or Pabst I get pretty happy. Love this place - good food, friendly service and a pretty reasonable price. Hubby and I both got the chicken tender basket and I had no idea the tenders would be so big. Glad I didn't order extra but they heat up good. We both were full after eating one and half pieces. Everything in the place is gluten free except for garlic toast. The Galactic house sauce was also really good. Not only was the food great but so was the staff. A great experience overall. As if decided by a coin toss, chicken restaurants often nestle themselves into either underwhelming, clumsy down home diner style, which often sacrifices flavor complexity and overall experience, or a high-end boutique style chicken restaurant where millennials will drop $3-4 per (albeit tasty) wing to accompany a pricey craft beer. For years Kentucky's fried chicken game has left me hungry for more. However Galactic Chicken has a docile storefront, comfortable and immersive interior and open diner-style kitchen that will greet you with smells and sounds to foreshadow your golden brown destiny. One of three people behind the counter will take your order while the other two continue crafting some food in the back. Prices are probably the most fair I've seen across this region of chicken restaurants, no entrees exceed $9, sharables are in the $4-6 range and all the sides are $2-3. All the food is made to order. I'll say that again for those of you who only know chicken to be kept under a heat lamp for 30 minutes before you get to it at most restaurants: the food is breaded, seasoned and fried to order. So the wait for the food is going to be about 8-9 minutes. The back patio is just about as nice as it could be, wedged between the two buildings. Tables were clean and spaced apart nicely, music is played lightly in the background. In a few trips we were presented with drinks, then sauces and pickles (which are on the house) then our fried pickles (nicely breaded and a perfect pair to their house made ranch) and finally the chicken and sides. The chicken legs (four drum sticks) were, with confidence, the best fried chicken I've ever had. An intense crunch without any pockets of excess oil, season heavily with god-knows-what and, when dipped in the galactic sauce, an overall flavor profile that rivals any overpriced boutique chicken I mentioned earlier. The chicken tenders have that same texture and flavor, but with tender and extremely juicy boneless white meat. The fries and Mac were both plenty standard, but a good accompaniment to the main picture. The food was filling, easy on the wallet, and not so greasy that I feel the need to detox for a week, in fact you might catch me back here before the week is out.
