The sauce was like something I would find in a store and the menu was just folded paper, not real professional to me. It was a meh place and it seems like the only thing I really liked was the location since it sits right on route 20 not too far from route 9 and the prices are really good. We walked in looking for a place to eat. We got ignored by the bartenders. The bar was full of locals watching football. My wife used the restroom while I waited to have a soul there talk to me. Nobody bothered, so we left. The poor reviews seem to be on point and all say the same things. The restroom did stink according to my wife. I said, "No I think I'll just continue to sit here and be ignored." She says "We don't have a waitress." I said "Ohhhhh, so then it's YOUR JOB to seat me when I walk in, got it." She asks if I'd like to stay. Another blown opportunity to leave because I really wanted to try the food. I say "Well yeah, I came in to eat, not to be ignored." She rolls her eyes and walks away. I keep a good tone with the barfly because I know he's probably just doing this for a free beer and I'm not about to get between a man and his free beer, far be it from me... so he takes my order and serves me the rest of my time there. Kudos to him, he was a decent waiter. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. He comes back asking if I want the dinner, I say ok. The food was subpar, and that's being nice. I've made better pulled pork in a crock pot by myself with pork shoulder and Baby Ray's Sweet BBQ Sauce. During dinner I literally watched a mouse run past the bar and out of the open door. i stopped in for lunch with my wife on a Thursday afternoon, the first time we were here, we were completely ignored so we left, but decided to give this place another try because it has always intrigued me with its "Tex/Mex" menu and atmosphere. as soon as we sat at the bar, I realized that if you aren't a regular here you probably won't be treated very courteously. Apparently this route 20 watering hole was literally just that in the 1930s and was basically an early day truck stop that opened selling nothing but ice cream. This couple opened the place and eventually sold it in the 1950s ..to another weirdo couple. Well the wife of this pair, had an affair and drove the husband to kill himself behind the place....... Went for lunch today and bbq was not really true bbq. It was some brisket which was drenched in tons of bbq sauce. My buddy got a burrito only to find no meat but tons of canned beans. I really want to like the place but it's in desperate need of some real help. I knew it was going to be bar food, but this was sub par even for bar food. Wish I could give it more but I trust Yelp and I want others to see the real opinion of someone who expected a bit more than I got. We have passed by this place a million times and never stopped in. We were looking for someplace new to try the other night and decided to give them a shot. We walked in, looked around, and walked back out. There was a strange smell in the air and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The bar had about 20 people, but the restaurant was empty. My daughter got very upset that we were leaving so we decided to give it a shot and stay anyway even though it seemed like a bad decision. We are glad we stayed. The waitress was very nice. She was the bartender and also hostess and waitress. She was the only one on. She made sure she did not neglect us though even though we were not at the bar. The menu is tex mex and bbq. The food is decent. It is definitely not somewhere that you would go for a great meal, but the food was better than I expected. I got the baby back ribs and they were tender and juicy with a lot of meat on the bones. The sauce was slathered on a bit heavy for my liking, but it tasted good (not too sweet). I had baked beans and mashed potatoes with gravy for my sides. The beans were out of a can and the potatoes were not that great, but both were edible enough that it did not bother me. My wife got a burger which she enjoyed. My son got fish and chips. The fish was large and looked like it was perfectly cooked. If I go back again I will probably get that. My daughter had chicken tacos. They were not skimpy and she really enjoyed them. The place is not the cleanest, but it did not feel dirty either. I think during the nice weather if you can eat outside it would be a decent place if you want this type of food. It seems like a fun place to go for a beer and to watch the game too. The one thing I can't overlook in a place that serves food or drinks is an overpowering unpleasant smell. This place is FANTASTIC... The Bar staff is now the best in town and super friendly. One has awesome ink and can run the Keno machine like a lottery savant. I've met the owner on numerous occasions. Tried take out when looking for some good TexMex. I should have read the reviews first! I used Door Dash so I've never seen the inside. I've driven by tons of times and never felt compelled to go inside. The only positive is the delivery took less time than expected. I ordered steak chimichangas which really did not resemble a chimichanga. It came with ground beef and NOT steak as ordered. It was so overloaded with refried beans you couldn't taste anything else. Willikers is my favorite bar in the boro's. Their unique drinks like the fruity-loopy margarita and carona-rita are hands down the best around. Karaoke nights are always fun and it's close to home! This place rocks. The staff is awesome, the food is great, drinks are amazing, Who cares if there's deer on the wall this place is a dive bar through and through and it's one of the best. They always have something going on whether it's food and drink specials, bands, or karaoke. The staff makes you feel like family and they're always ready with a drink suggestion which is good for someone like me who can never make up their mind. Tuesday night is wing night and the wings are awesome! Wings and a good margarita goes a long way in my book. They've got a good selection of flavors and you can get any combo of the flavors you want. You can even get some of the wing sauces added to other menu items. Try a sesame garlic chicken quesadilla. There's always a game on one of the tvs around the bar. I used to only come for the karaoke. That's the only reason they lost a star. They need karaoke on more than one night a week. Now I come to eat good food with cool people and have a great time. Speaking of karaoke the karaoke guy is wicked cool. He's got basically any song you could ever want to sing. He'll sing with you if you're too scared to sing alone and he always says hey to his regulars. Saturday nights can get wild especially if there's a karaoke party going on. This place is a good dive bar. And I've been to many in my 58 years. Mix of people is great, professionals, locals, truckers, bikers, old folks and young, etc., Food was decent as expected, prices were very reasonable and the drinks were honest and not watered down. The wait staff is great too in terms of being attentive and friendly. This place reminds me of 'The Brick' in Roslyn Washington where they filmed that TV show Northern Exposure back in the day. (But The Brick has sawdust on the floor) In a nutshell, if you're looking for a fun place go there, if you're looking for high end food (With high-end prices) go elsewhere. Not sure about the people on here looking for a gourmet dining experience at this type of place (it's more "bar" than "restaurant" for sure), but we had wings and they were as good or better than JJs down the street. We (friends and I - mix of guys and girls) went there on a Friday night to play pool, but were pleasantly surprised to hear a pretty decent rock band, and didn't have to pay a cover charge to get in. one of the worst restaurant/bar experiences ever. maybe i went on the wrong day or wrong shift going on a sunday evening but we sat ourselves and ordered a pitcher from an unfriendly waitress, no big deal i can get over that. then we asked about ordering a deal they had for buy a pizza get a free pitcher, we manage to order it, she is again rude and very short with us. then we ask to have a channel changed on the tv, it took about ten minutes to get that underway and she manages to throw some more attitude at my friends and i when i ask if we can change only one of the tvs..... now keep in mind the entire dining/eating area is empty besides me and my four friends, so its not like they were swamped. she then still changes both tvs to figure skating and walks away before we can even realize whoa this is the wrong channel. so i decide ok she is obviously real busy and i decide to ignore the dont touch the tv signs to change the channel on my own. boy was this a mistake. funny how she was ready to come over as soon as we did something wrong. she then yanks the controller out of my hand and proceeds with more attitude saying "youre really starting to piss me off" haha WE are pissing YOU off???!!! i didnt say that to her and decided to just be mature and walk away so i say "okay lets cancel the pizza give us the check we are leaving" and then to my surpise she responds by exclaiming "GOOD" she still charged us for the pizza and says we cant take it to go, wow literally have never had such a terrible experience before and I intend to call the owner about this employee, i hope the other employees are not like this but whoo she was in a mood and did not need to take it out on us.
