Great food, drinks and service! The California rolls were delicious. Nice little place for inhouse dining or take out.

Stand-alone building just off 290 seems to be primarily a watering hole. General Gau's Wings: Very small wings, practically pigeon-sized, but for $15 you get 10 connected drum-flat pairs, so that's 20 pieces at 75 cents each, which I consider a bargain. Fully coated in a sauce darker than your typical General, and with a bit of an oyster saucy feel. Good mix of sweet and spicy. Crisp exterior; fairly moist interior (tough to accomplish on such small wings, but they did). But most importantly, these wings had so much flavor under the sauce that they must've been marinated. I'm very eager to try their regular wings now. Near-elite. Sweet and Sour Chicken (on combo): Pretty standard fare. Crispness was okay, no puffiness, typical meat-to-batter ratio. Sauce a bit on the blush side of bright red, no gumminess, and sour mixed in with the sweet. Cherries and pineapples. A little above average. Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): Invitingly dark of color, but not as much on flavor. A bit sticky. Not dry, but close. Pork seemed to be the only inclusion (not an issue; just pointing it out for those who aren't into egg, onion, or bean sprouts). Average. Egg Roll (added to the combo for $1): Standard issue, old school design with mostly celery and some faintly colored pork specks. Crisp outside, kinda dry inside. A bit below average, but serviceable. While not a home run of a visit, enough good signs to warrant a return, especially to try wings and to see if the pork fried rice fares better on a night visit (when I can also partake in a mai tai). read more

I went for lunch and it was the worst tasting Chinese food I have ever had. I would not eat their food again even if it was for FREE!!

My Kung Pow chicken was great! My wife's Gau's chicken wasn't good. She said the chicken was rubbery and the sauce was like goo. She couldn't eat it, I felt bad for her. The vegetable low mien was ok, but there were very few vegetables in it. If I ordered low main again I'd ask them to put more vegetables in there, even if it's an extra charge. read more

Updating with another must share - for Toro (fatty tuna) fans - you literally cannot get a more reasonable delicious Toro. We ate two pieces before I snapped a photo - so the order came with six pieces - and it was fantastic. And the price? $11.95. INSANE. I didn't love it. We placed a larger take out order with multiple separate items and all our food was mixed together. There was no distinction between their regular crab rangoons & the buffalo chicken crab rangoons before biting into it. I ordered "Tidbits" of chicken fingers, crab rangoon, and the steak & cheese egg roll. The best part was the egg roll and it was delicious. The other two items were okay. It's hard to mess up chicken fingers. But the crab rangoons were subpar - I wasn't a fan of the filling. I would definitely get their steak & cheese egg roll again. The service was good here and it seemed clean enough inside. They have a pretty limited menu. Not sure if that's a Covid thing or not. For example, they have predesigned lunch plates that all come with pork fried rice which is pretty standard. So, opted not to get one of those because I do not eat pork. Instead I chose the build my own plate with 2-3 sides. It didn't say that option came with anything, but to my surprise was served with pork fried rice anyway. There were no other rice flavor options on the menu. I usually get shrimp. The chicken wings were pretty well done, but I actually prefer them that way. The crab rangoon were average. Had a family Christmas party booked for 25 people for the week before the holiday. Booked over a month ahead. Then they were shut down by board of Health. For violations. I found out later. I called repeatedly only to get a message that they would be closed until January 2022. No one ever contacted me until 3 days before we were supposed to go. The hostess called Saying they were open I needed to confirm?? What??? I also sent messages and emails during the time with no response. Never heard from the owner / manager Miles, who I met with and booked it with!! She did apologize said the message was wrong. With all the heath violations I don't think so ! Haven't been back since. The result is that I will not go there again. Also, their mai tai drinks are overrated. If you like cheap well alcohol that is used then that's the place. Stopped in for a "quick" bite on my way from Albany to Maine. Sat at the bar for 5-10 minutes. Despite other patrons sitting there, no bartender to be found. Oh, there he is...huddled in the corner, hiding his phone. He's playing an online video game. He finally notices me, comes over, pours me a diet pepsi, gives me a menu, then stares at me. "I need a minute". Off he goes again. After 5-6 minutes, I walk over to the corner, he notices me. He says, "you say you need minute!!". The locals that were sitting at tables around the lounge area seem to have adjusted to this, and they were happy to walk over to order more beer, food, or ask for the bill. Frequent buyer from dragon 88.. never had a bad experience or bad food. Everything we order is amazing, delicious and fast. It's hard to find authentic Chinese food new England and this spot fits the bill. Price is spot on and regardless of what people say the staff is always nice and efficient. Never had a mai tai from here... That seems to be what everyone gets.. I'm sure it's good. As for the food we have ordered it all and not been disappointed ever.. 10 out of 10 would recommend.. most people who leave bad reviews are nitpicking dumb details that are irrelevant to the service/food. read more

This one is a guilty pleasure-- I belong to a gun range down the road and this place is open late so I can swing by here after some target practice and it's like stepping into a time warp of Chinese Restaurants from the 1970s in the USA. The food itself is pretty solid American Chinese, Crab Rangoon was solid and so were the Peking Ravioli's-- not greasy at all which is very nice. Service was a bit under par. Three of us walked in and were seated (three guys) one of the three ran to the bathroom and the waiter came over and asked for our drink orders. We ordered and the guy in the bathroom returned while the guy seated then opted to quick run over to it when the waiter came back he put the drink in front of the new guy who went ahead and ordered a drink for himself. The waiter seemed very confused. My dinner companion said "Yeah, I'm not the same guy who was sitting here." to which we all laughed pretty hard. For the rest of the night he seemed very confused as he brought us our food one at a time, but overall it was good solid bad American Chinese and we had a good time. read more

This place is the only place left that has a really different appetizer on the menu that is delicious!! It is called CHEESE TONGA Wow.. They are thin crepes wrapped in a creamy Cheese sauce then dusted with Chinese 5 spice And deep fried. They come 8 to an order, and they are very filling ! This was a recipe that was taken from the Honolulu in Norwood that closed some years back i think in the early 2000's or late 90's The recipe originated i guess from some place called Trader Vic's and it is a Polynesian dish. I used to go here years ago for lunch specials. Food was good and prices were reasonable. I stopped by here last night for dinner. First of all, the waiter had the personality of a rock. The place is looking pretty raggedy inside but the food was even worse. Got house fried rice but it was not fried at all. Rather mushy and more steamy than fried. We ordered bone-in spare ribs and they tasted horrible. They even smelled like they were rotten. Egg rolls and crab Rangoon were ok but egg rolls were rather dry. Never came back to our table after delivering food although not that busy. I finally summoned him over for the check. I asked him to bring me boxes but instead he took the food back and boxed it himself. I guess it didn't matter what I wanted. Food and service so bad it will be my last trip there. read more

Ugh I'm so bummed. This used to be my place to get the yummy brown lobster sauce, but what we got last night resembled more of a gravy/soup with not much pork/meat at all. I wish I took a pic now. I actually did ask the waitress about it, and sent it back, but what we got back was maybe a little more meat...and the same soup consistency. Besides that it didn't really have much flavor at all, nor did the crab rangoon. The rice was ok, the egg rolls ok, but I asked my son if he wanted to take leftovers home, and he said he was all set.
