First visit in about 10 years. When I worked in Worcester back then, it was in my rotation and they did a respectable take on old school Chinese, even though it was unglamorous and paled in comparison to Ho Toy Luau (R.I.P.). They've sealed off most of their tables, leaving only two for dine-in, but it's mostly takeout anyway. Beef Teriyaki: Small order yielded three sticks, each with very thin, slightly charred beef. Overly strong salty soy flavor and a texture that summons the adage that there's a very fine line between moist and slimy. But at least not dry and not tough. Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a combo): Thin fingers, less-than-crisp corndog style batter, and low meat-to-batter ratio. Small cup of thin red sweet sauce (no sour) on the side. No fruit. Egg Roll (on the combo): Hot and crisp, but cabbage style with minimal pork and minimal flavor. Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): Nice color, but Rice-a Roni flavor and dry, crunchy texture. I really like this place. Would I like most about it is that it is all takeout. Thus, ambience really isn't an issue unless you wanna talk about the place looking clean. The multiple times I've ordered over the last couple of months they have always produced my food on time, with what I considered to be a reasonable price. So I would say service is great. The food is some of the better fast Chinese in the area. I have no complaints at all. Now that we work nights and are up essentially all night and sleep all day, our food ordering options are limited. Hong Kong Island is open until the wee hours of 10pm for delivery on Friday. Their appetizers are carnivore heavy. They have an egg roll and a spring roll, remind me to look up the difference l8r. They also have a bunch of wings and chicken products, along with ribs, crab rangoon (ugh classic), peking ravioli which is interesting, fried scallops, and the necessary scallion pancakes. For the rest of their menu, they divide shit amongst the type/species of protein as well as fried rice, noods, "moo shi", house specialties, and if you're still hanging on to the pipe dream of that summer bod, "dieter's delight". We ordered the scallion pancakes obviously. These were the most disappointing of everything I would say. They weren't terrible. I'll eat the fuck out of them later. I'll mop the grease from the other shit with them. But they were just meh and I'm talking about fried dough with scallions and if that doesn't slap then we have a problemo. We also ordered the veggie lo mein which I will say was pretty good. There's a TON of noodles in that little container and I don't have much to say other than this is one of the better lo mein I've had around these parts. Tina convinced me to order the veggie fried rice which was also impressively good. It's loaded with onions which I despise but when I was able to eat around those fucks, the rice itself is very flavorful and enjoyable. I don't remember seeing many veggies other than a few bean sprouts tho. I threw an order of (yes we ordered more shit SHUT UP) the Yu Hsiang bean curd into the mix because I wanted some veggies and tofu. This is doused with greasy and oily sauce. In fact, when I bit into the tofu, oil and grease literally squirted into my mouth. Brings back bad memories. And I'm not even done lmao Tina got an egg roll which was MASSIVE. She's not even sure there was meat it in, she says it was "mostly cabbage". I was initially going to give this 3 stars because of how fucking greasy it is but then Tina said, "it's chinese food..." and she's right so I upgraded my rating. read more

They take your order quickly and it's behind some plexiglass for both your and the workers safety. The food came out like 15 minutes after ordering even though we ordered so much stuff. Pork Fried Rice: It's average chinese takeout pork fried rice. Super tasty and has some veggies in it. Crab Rangoon: These were hyped up to me by a coworker but they were not very good and honestly the ones I make at home are way better. Chicken Fingers: These were super crispy and really juicy inside. It tastes like they use really nice fluffy batter which helped the flavor of the fingers. I just ordered kung pau chicken and I asked for no celery - what I got was a few pieces of weird looking chicken, a tablespoon of peanuts, huge chunks of a few peppers, and 2 cups of mushrooms - which aren't even supposed to be in this dish! The raise in inflation is no justification for price gouging customers, especially for lower quality and quantity. Hmmm. I'm a bit disappointed. Here's my order: -wontons (large order): about $9, almost NO cream cheese. Comes with some sweet soy sauce? Weird. ONE STAR -orange chicken (with rice): about $11. This was pretty good! The menu says it's spicy. It's not. Haha. -sesame chicken (with rice): about $11. Way too salty. Says it's spicy, not spicy at all. Very plain, no flavor (except excessive salt). One star. The Bill came to about $29 after taxes. Not worth it. Too expensive. My favorite Chinese food spot so far in Worcester. The food is always fresh, delivery is always quick and ordering online is a breeze even with special modifications. I have to remember to take a photo of the food the next time I order. I usually get one or some of the following: an order of general Gau's chicken, chicken fried rice (no eggs), chicken fingers, chicken wings, and I've also had their crab Rangoon. All great choices and I'll always order again. I think all meals come with a small order of white rice which is nice. Only downside is the restaurant does not offer delivery, only pickup. It was so awful a few months (6 or so) back we stopped going altogether, but after trying 3 other local Chinese places with NO LUCK we went back and the past 2 times have been really good. I have been going to Hong Kong Island for a few years and have always had a good experience. Last night (New Years Eve) I ordered food for pick up at 8pm. I waited for almost an hour for them to give me my food. They said my food was almost done they were just cooking the rice. I would think it being one of their busiest days of the year rice would constantly being cooked. When I got it home and started eating the rice was extremely salty not just a little salty but like someone wasn't paying attention and added TOO much. I don't love American Chinese because it's usually greasy and flavorless, but this place is great. If you liked Chopsticks when it was still in it's prime you'll like this. The Crab Rangoon is outstanding-- crisp and full of cream cheese with just the right amount of crab. The Chicken Fried Rice was outstanding and I really liked the Peking Ravioli's. This is the kind of American Chinese that's great-- very friendly family run business and absolutely worth the trip. Decided to try after driving by for 6 years. If you like your food slathered in corn syrup and pineapple bits, try #122 Hong Kong 5 spice beef. Sounded really good in the "chef's homemade sauce". I gave it one star for the brocolli. The Sesame Chicken also bad, about 75% sticky sweet sauce and thick breaded coating, and you can see some chicken in the middle, isn't that nice. If your looking for inexpensive food, that will taste like your last desert. This is it.
