The food was just okay. The golden lucky was a little bland but it was fresh. I throughly enjoyed the garden rolls. It was really good. The spicy cha cha was really nice but hot (Obviously). The service was good just a little slower than expected but friendly staff. The covid barrier wasn't pleasant to encounter. So the ambiance is what you make it in your car. Food is excellent. We always order a couple of meal's worth of food when we are in the area. Service is always good. My one complaint would be that, when you walk in, there is a barricade of tables just inside the door. You can take a couple of steps in, but that's it. Would give this six stars if I could. Very good vegan/East Asian food. As a vegan, it's so liberating to just *pick* anything off the menu without thinking restrictions. Some food is initiating meat products, like veggie wonton soup, others are just independently good vegan food, like veggie stir fry. Fans of East Asian food will like it too. Despite no meat or animal products, it's is very savory and filling, but also light. I ate two entrees on my first visit in 2023. I ordered cake for desert too. This place always gets it right. We are regulars and everything is always wonderful. My favorites are the scallion pancakes, the noble strips, and the KungPao but I have never had a dish here that I did not like. They really know how to cook tofu and it is perfectly seasoned every time. Their Thai Iced Tea is the best, you can tell them make it from scratch. We always get take out and they are so organized and we always get exactly what we ask for and it is always ready on time. Outstanding customer service and amazing fresh food always. We have been going here for years and it is our favorite place in Worcester, we always order extra to have leftovers through the week. Went to a different location of loving hut this time (at Hamilton st) and ordered appetizer platter and curry noodles. First off, I was surprised to see that place was not as big and the food was cheaper as compared to the Chandler st branch. (Just got to know that the owner of this branch is different than the other one, so they do have a different menu and prices) Platter- The appetizer platter is around $7. It comes with fresh roll, teriyaki stick, rangoons(my favorite) and other stuff, but I felt like portion of platter is bigger at the Chandler at location(ofcorse the price is a little higher). It comes with 2 sauces. Downside: they will charge you extra for extra peanut sauce Curry noodles- I really liked the noodles! They have a mild curry flavor, some soy protein and lots of veggies(crunchy cabbage). I was expecting curry noodles to be soupy and little bit like spicy bun bo hue(my other fav thing at loving hut) but it did not have curry. I really like the food at this place. I've eaten here many times and I've enjoyed basically everything I've had and the prices are very good. The reason this is at two stars is because of the number of times I have called as early as an hour before close for them to tell me I cannot order because the kitchen is closed. If they want to close early then I'll find somewhere else to eat after my evening appointments. Also, 90% of the time I picked up my order I was told "cash is always preferred." Over and over. I literally looked this guy in the face multiple times and told him that I don't carry cash and I would be happy to leave a tip on the receipt to cover the fee and he still said it to me nearly every time. There is another Loving Hut on Chandler Street - I recommend going to that one instead as my experience has been much better. read more

I checked online before going and it said it was opened on Saturday. One spot said it opened at 11am and another spot said 11:30am. My son introduced me to this place and I decided to bring a friend. Well, I got their and they were NOT opened. The door was locked. I tried calling before going and got no answer, but figured they may be busy, but that wasn't the case. This is VERY bad business. If you're not gonna be opened or if you need to change your hours, OR had an emergency, this info should be reflected either on the door of the business or on your voicemail. The voicemail is not even set up so the customers have no option, but to wait or go elsewhere. We waited about 15 minutes and left. Thankfully, we didn't come from out of town, but I did drive to a different side of town to get my lunch guest and we were HIGHLY disappointed. Their would have been 5 meals bought, but no such luck. I went to a different business and good thing I did. I came back by at 3:14pm and the restaurant was STILL closed. I'm VERY disappointed and it made me look bad in front of someone I was bringing to try out the food. This is the second time, I've been disappointed. The first time I didn't leave a review. This time I had to because a customer shouldn't have to guess when your business will open. I even tried looking on FB and it said the business was open, but it wasn't. The Quan Yin closed for a couple weeks in the summer of 2009 and reopened, with a new sign and slightly remodeled interior, as the Veggie Corner in August 2009. In April 2010 they changed their sign once again and became "Loving Hut: Vegan Cuisine". Still pretty much the same as the Quan Yin. Still run by followers of Supreme Master Ching Hai, founder and spiritual teacher of the Quan Yin Method. Long time Quan Yin server Joanne, who was there since the restaurant opened during the Vegan/Veggie boom of the 1990s, is now working crosstown at the former Buddah Hut (which has also been renamed "Loving Hut").... but everything else from the spiritual teachings to the phone number to the location remain the same as always. But now in addition to the Vegan Polynesian/Chinese cuisine, The Loving Hut has many Vietnamese inspired Vegan dishes, such as Pho. The appetizers are still yummy, if a little greasy/heavy for some of my friends with more sensitive stomachs. I personally find most things on the menu delicious. My Vegan friends love going to a place where they don't have to comb through the menu or ask the server for ingredients. My Omnivore friends are often surprised by how much they love both the appetizers and entrées at The Loving Hut, despite the lack of meat or any animal products. I would recommend trying The Loving Hut be you Vegetarian / Vegan or not. I love meat and veggies! I don't believe I could ever become a vegetarian or vegan because of my love for seafood. Fruits, veggies, nuts, and berries are food items that I can't live without, but at the same time could not live solely on. I found this place awhile ago but never made it around to eating here. Today a co-resident wanted Vietnamese food and and a student wanted vegetarian so I said lets try Loving Hut. This is really an amazing find in Worcester. OMG!! The FOOD and SERVICE was so amazing. There were 5 of us at lunch and we all were extremely pleased with our food. I don't hand out 5 stars often but they got an extra star for making meatless dishes wonderful. Decent food, but not a great experience. After having attended a wedding with almost nothing (vegan) that I could eat, I was starving by the time I got to Worcester. I looked up local restaurants and accidentally showed up at the Chandler St. location, which was closed. Luckily I still had 25 minutes before the cross town location was closing, so I gave them a ring for takeout. Their menu looked creative and had many different options. Understanding that it was close to closing time, I asked them if it was too late for takeout. They hesitated at first and asked how big my order was. I said it was just two items, so luckily they were able to grant me some late-night eats. The cashier was friendly enough and pointed to my bag on a nearby table. As soon as I got into the car, I realized that something was leaking. The underside of the bag was wet from sauce and the container inside was leaking too... After cleaning up, I first tried the drumsticks. They were good, albeit fairly greasy. The main entree was the Mongolian Wonder. It just looked paltry and lifeless. There was literally more rice than the mock meat/veggies. As for the soy protein, it was okay. The spices were good, but the pieces were thin and the dinner portion was small. Overall, the prices were reasonable, but the portions were accordingly small. Service was OK, but my takeout bag was a sloppy, leaking mess. I felt like they were in a hurry to close when talked to them on the phone, but then in person they were polite. The food was decent, but didn't blow me away. I'd be willing to come back to dine-in. Small. SLOW. 20% Mandatory Gratuity for groups of FIVE. Weird Vibe. Bait and Switch Pricing. Inconsistent with National Chain. Strange Staff. Ok, this one really hurts to write. My family and I LOVE the Loving Hut franchise. In many big cities, it's a safe 'go-to' option for vegan food. We even occasionally drive over two hours from our home in rural NorCal to the one in Elk Grove, California...that's how much we love it. When we arrived at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 8th, 2018, we were shocked at how small this place is. There is literally only room for four groups of five or less, and PLEASE don't go with a group of five (more on that later). Anyways, all tables were full, but one group looked to be preparing to leave. A staff member told us to expect an hour wait and I scoffed. Then another staff member, we'll call him 'Waiter A', walked up and asked the group if they were finished so we could sit down...super rude of him and it made us uncomfortable. I told them we'd walk outside and wait... About five minutes later, 'Waiter B' walked out and politely said the table was ready. When we scoured the menu, we noticed some familiar dishes, including our normal favorites: Golden Era and Mongolian Wonder. We also ordered the drumsticks and a noodle and rice dish. The person taking our order was 'Waiter A', the guy I referred to earlier, and he asked if we wanted the rice dish to be brown rice...we said sure. He didn't mention a price difference, nor was one listed in the menu. On all the other dishes we ordered, he convinced us to get the brown rice on the side, too, instead of the white . We ordered water to drink, as they had no soft drinks. About twenty minutes later, no joke, 'Waiter A' finally arrived with our water: half filled glasses with no ice. 20 MINUTES!!! And it's not like there was a rush going on...like I said, only room for about 20 people in the entire place. Already, we were not happy. The first dish to arrive was the drumstick appetizer, which was cut up on the stick...never seen that done at ANY national Loving Hut, and I've had them in four other states. The dicing of the meat on the drum stick made it hard to eat...it actually made you pick at it instead of eating it like a drumstick. The second dish was the Golden Era, which was NOTHING like the ones from other locations. 'Waiter A' came out and heard us discussing that with 'Waiter B' and he tried to give us some explanation that, frankly, I didn't care to hear. It was still really good, but it wasn't what Loving Hut typically serves as the Golden Era. The second dish was the Mongolian Wonder, which was also good. It came out five minutes after the Golden Era, and 15 minutes after the drumsticks...and no, there wasn't a group of 20 that showed up in between, in case you're wondering; they are just CRAZY slow! At this point, we had our family of five picking at two plates...and they didn't bring us any plates to share the entrees on. They just appeared to find enjoyment in watching us all reach across the table to pick at the food I suppose. As the next dishes came out, all about five minutes apart, I got the feeling 'Waiter A' was looking at my phone to see what I was reading/doing on it. Who does that in the service industry? Turns out, he WAS looking at my phone. I was searching Whole Foods locations in Washington, DC (our destination after a night in NYC) and he suddenly said 'there's a Whole Foods in_________', meaning he was reading my phone over my shoulder. Strange...as...hell. And, he even made a weird comment about whether or not we were gonna have any more complaints. Dude was clearly not concerned about EARNING a tip (more on that later, too). (Continued Above) Anyways, when all was said and done, we'd been in there for almost an hour and a half, had our room temperature water refilled one time (after my wife asked for the refills) and never had extra napkins or plates brought to us. They brought the bill and it was WAY more than expected. I don't mind paying good money for good food and I'm ALWAYS a big tipper when taken care of. However, the dishes appeared to be at LEAST two dollars more than listed on the menu, which I asked for so I could see if I was missing something. 'Waiter A' came and explained the price difference was due to us requesting Brown Rice, which he said was more expensive. Nowhere on the menu did it mention the up-charge for brown rice. Believe me, we checked after his explanation. Even worse than the up-charge for the rice was the fact they added a mandatory 20% gratuity because we were a party of five or more...FIVE!!! I have never seen a mandatory gratuity for five people...EVER. I am convinced he knew he was NOT getting tipped by me and wanted a work-around. Again, please know I don't write one star reviews lightly. I know what they mean. But this place earned it. Or, more specifically, 'Waiter A' earned it for this place. Never again.... read more

One of my favorite places to eat (vegetarian and otherwise) in the area. We've been several times to this location and the other one for their buffet. This time around, on a cold rainy day, I ordered a summer roll and the spicy bun-hue. I cannot say enough good things about that noodle soup. Perfect spice (thanks to homemade chili sauce) the fried tofu and brown soy bits are perfectly cooked and the broth rivals some of the best beef pho I've had. Man that soup is good... Really good service, unlike what some people have said our server was upfront about prices. Our food was tasty, but small portions. The food came quickly and while small, the restaurant was clean and well kept. They do have upcharges not listed on the menu which should be changed, but again our server informed us of it. Honestly this restaurant is highly overlooked. What an inspirational menu to promote a plant based lifestyle. Every time I visit this location I always have to try something new. I was very happy to hear that they're doing curbside pickup during this time. Even when I have dined in I feel so welcome to ask questions, and the waiter is happy to educate on the ingredients and suggestions based on previous orders. Family owned. My husband is a carnivore but he is always down for a meal from Loving Hut (now THAT's where the love's at); going vegan can be tough for those still dabbling in the meat-world....but to hardcore veggie-heads, this place is a little slice of heaven. Pros: Great place that happens to be vegan. I'm not a vegan, but I do like a lot of veggies in my food. The food is very tasty and I tried a couple of different dishes. I ordered the stuff that didn't have "meat substitutes" in it, but I did try the fried tofu, the God's noodle dish, and the pot stickers. All tasty! I'm an omnivorous Viet with strong opinions about Viet food. I was lucky to grow up with many talented chefs in the family, as well as live around so many amazing Viet restaurants in CA and TX. So I'm really glad that there's a place like Loving Hut nearby, where I can be greeted and served by a super sweet lady who reminds me a lot of my favorite auntie in San Jose. As for the food, so far I've only had pho chay and bun cha gio, as well as crab rangoon and goi cuon bo bia for appetizers. (Sorry, I don't remember the names of these on the menu.) They don't try to be exactly like their meat equivalents, and are instead unique and delicious in their own way. The faux ham in the cha gio was an especially yummy and unusual surprise! The last time I went, my friend had bun bo hue, which I don't normally like. Their version had really tasty broth though! The fake meat soaked it up and was super delicious! I'm planning on trying it next time. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is because I do like my Viet food with stronger fish sauce flavors, which the vegan version couldn't exactly replicate. (Though it's probably for the best since all the fish sauce I consume can't be healthy.) Otherwise, I love this place and will definitely go back again! read more

The owner that runs the place almost always stops by your table to make sure everything is ok and chat a bit. They have great buffets too. My friend and I went thrifting in the Worcester area and weren't familiar with any restaurants in the area. We went on yelp and were able to find this gem! As others have mentioned it is a pretty small place. When we arrived the owner cheerfully sat us down. She was incredibly sweet and attentive. She asked where we were from and made a little small talk without being overbearing. She thanked us several times for trying the restaurant which I thought was really sweet. I'd go back just based on the service. We ordered the "crab rangoon" as an appetizer. They were delicious, I especially loved the citrusy sauce it came with. For my meal I ordered the earth's curry and it was amazing! I highly recommend this place and will go back if I am ever in the area! read more

I've wanted to try this place for years, only recently finding out it was a chain. Odd that there are two locations in Worcester but none in the Boston area. Having moved out to Westborough recently we decided to go now that we are a little closer. It's in an area that seemed a little sketchy but plenty of parking on the street. The place is small with only four tables. Our server/hottess (I'm guessing that she was the cook) was super cute, attentive and friendly. She would take orders, run in the back, be gone for several minutes and come out with a dish...which is why I think she was also the cook. Food was very tasty, and I love their meat subsitute options...such as the satays, and I had a the Cha Cha Tasty I think it was called which was like fried shrimp. The DH had the sesame seitan dish with broccoli and it was better than mine, and very tasty. The portions are very small, as we left feeling satisfied but not full, which is good because most restaurants the sizes are so huge that you overeat and then feel sickly afterwards. Also, the prices are very fair so it's in correlation to the portion sizes. We had two apps, and two entrees and it was only $25 I noticed that the Chandler street location has a slightly different menu and seems to have way more options including a General Gaus/Taos like dish that I wanted to try, and offered some Thai inpsired dishes and noodles, also Thai Iced Tea. But they were not open on Sunday when we went. So we are planning on going back to try the CHandler ST location soon. read more

As vegan food goes, this is pretty good, especially for the area. I even like the concept, which is essentially a bunch of dishes from various Asian cuisines that wouldn't have meat in them regardless of where you ordered them. As a non-vegan, I prefer this to places that try to make vegan versions of meat-centric dishes. Unfortunately, you can get a better version of most of the dishes on the menu at a number of restaurants around the city. While you might not find Chinese and Vietnamese food on the same menu anywhere else in Worcester, you can definitely get a better tofu rice noodle salad. The Szechuan eggplant was closer to being something I would return for since it was objectively quite good, but there are Szechuan restaurants around here that serve the same dish at similar or even higher quality in a bigger portion for the same price. Since I'm not aware of any other Asian restaurants of any kind in this neighborhood, if you live on or near Hamilton then this is a fine neighborhood joint, but its not something I would go out of my way for. read more
