The most expensive item I ordered however well it cost almost 1/4 of the order . Gai Po Lo Mein . Every other time I have ordered this dish it came in 3 separate containers. One holding the chicken fingers ( fried chicken strips, one containing the vegetables in gravy , and the third with pork lo Mein . I this time got a small container holding 4 chicken fingers, a ton thick , globby brown gravy with two cherry tomatoes, 4 pieces of corn, and 4 pieces of broccoli . No lo Mein . I expected an increase of prices but paying 7 dollars more for this item now 24.75 to be missing the Lo Mein part , and to only get half thee amount off the chicken strips , and vegetables.. Just ridiculous and to refuse to refund for bad food , well I definitely can not say the best any longer . First to be paying more fine , but to be getting much smaller portions , and not getting what one ordered and being charged .. Clearly customer retention isn't a thought for this restaurant . Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a combo): Thin fingers, less-than-crisp corndog style batter, and low meat-to-batter ratio. Small cup of thin red sweet sauce (no sour) on the side. No fruit. Egg Roll (on the combo): Hot and crisp, but cabbage style with minimal pork and minimal flavor. Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): Nice color, but Rice-a Roni flavor and dry, crunchy texture. I tasted no garlic, ginger or orange peel. One-note and blah. The fried rice ... I knew when I saw the yellow color that I was in trouble. We all know the really good fried rice is brown. It tasted like the bags of Goya yellow rice you mix with water. Hardly any pork or egg and certainly not made fresh. Even after 3 packets of soy sauce, it was still bland. Instead of freshly made duck sauce, you get the generic packets. No hot mustard. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. Yong Shing is about the best Chinese I've found in the Central MA area, even though the quality has gone down hill quite a bit there, it's still 4 out of 5. Chum Lee's in Shrewsbury would also be a 4 of 5. When you get out into the North Shore ... Jade East in Tewksbury, the Billerica/Chelmsford places or The Kow Loon on Route One, you are really talking 5 star 'junk food Chinese'. If you want a mountain of average food ... this is a good spot for you. If you want the best tasting Chinese, go elsewhere. Chinese food is hard to get wrong ... so this disappoints me greatly.
