My 14-year old daughter went to this salon for a gel polish manicure, and got completely ripped off. I only discovered it when I saw a charge hit my card for $118. For ONE MANICURE! For context, we normally go together to another salon and we pay $35 to get her nails done (remove the old gel, put on new gel). Maybe another $10 if she chose chrome or a design. So when she asked to go to downtown Los Altos with her friends to get a manicure, I said no problem. However, when I saw the charge for over $100, I texted to ask if she had also gotten a pedicure, or had paid for her friend's manicure. She responded that no, she had just gotten a single manicure, but they charged her $15 to remove the old gel + $35 for new gel + $5 PER NAIL! because she had gotten a very simple design. (Design shown in the photo - they look terrible! Two nails just have wobbly circles!) So basically an extra FIFTY dollars for that poorly executed design! Also, no one else charges extra to remove the old gel. Of course, I had taught her to tip well in the service industry, so that's how we landed at $118. So the nail tech benefitted even more from scamming a child. Overall, I do not recommend giving them any business given their low ethical standards. read more

I had one of the most disappointing experiences here on 06/21. It was my first time here and I made an appointment online specifically with Lynn, but when I arrived, she and the other staff were speaking Vietnamese, and another lady ended up helping me instead even though Lynn was available that time. Although I didn't mind this initially, the quality of service I received was unacceptable. The nail shape was inconsistent across all my nails, and there was gel all over my cuticles. The gel was also not spread evenly, making my nails look messy and unprofessional. The lady almost skipped the cuticle cutting step until I pointed it out, and she had to go back to do it. What makes this worse was, the gel started coming off after just 1.5 weeks, whereas it usually lasts me 5 weeks from other salons. On top of all this, it took her almost 2 hours to complete such a poor job. I won't be returning and would not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

She is super patient and will redo every detail until you're satisfied, that's extremely hard to come by so I'm very thankful for her! I will never come to this salon ! When I came in, the salon was busy and they asked me to come in 15 mins. Which I did . My daughter wanted to get her manicure and pedicure done ($35 in total ). Once my daughter was seated, the person came in and said she does not have time and will only paint the nails and nothing else and will charge $20. They did a bad job and told my daughter that is she moves, they won't have time to do anything. Why at the first place ask someone to come after 15 mins if they cannot service them well. I made an appointment over the phone and was helped by Ali, who did a wonderful job of scheduling me in when I wanted. I went to the salon to get a full set of acrylics and I was not disappointed! This is my favorite place. I've been there 4 times now, for both mani/pedi and eyebrows. They've done such a consistently great job that I won't go anywhere else. I am hesitant to tell you how great they are, because the selfish part of me doesn't want them to get too busy; but they're cool ladies and they deserve the business. So: First and foremost, they do great work. I've gotten both the gel and regular mani/pedis. Gel lasted 2.5 weeks and I got numerous compliments. The regular lasted about a week, which is standard for me. They do very pretty and detailed art work if you want it, too. Secondly, their customer service is fabulous! The second time I went in, they addressed me by my first name. All the clients they see, and they remember my name on the second visit. That's unique. They speak English pretty well and are fun to talk to, which is an added bonus. Third, the atmosphere is nice. They keep it very clean and leave the door open during nice days so there's never been a noticeable "nail place odor" when I've visited. They play relaxing classical music. They wear uniforms and dress professionally. Fourth, the prices are about average, or less than average. When you consider this with the fact that the service is outstanding, it's a really good value. They take appointments and walk-ins. I recommend Yvonne for nails (I'm sure the other ladies are great too, but I always see Yvonne) and Vivian for eyebrows. Also, they don't have a private parking lot, but there's plenty of free parking in downtown Los Altos. Never had trouble finding parking close to the salon. If you go to this place, you will not be disappointed! read more

Getting a pedi should be a relaxing experience, and you should feel pampered. I had a bad experience at Pinkies in the past, so I thought I would give FYN a try. I have to say it was my fault that I didn't look through the window before walking in. There were no spa massage chairs. If I'm going to spend over $30 on a pedi, I'd prefer sitting in a massage chair and not an office chair while soaking my feet in a plastic soaking tub. I could've been fine with it had the nail technician been friendly. She had a sour puss look on her face, and didn't talk to me except for when my reflexes jolted when she dug her cuticle tool into my toenail and asked me if it hurt. She chatted away with the other technicians and even answered her cell phone during my pedi. The leg massage she gave me was really rough as well, and her nails kept on scraping into my knees. What should have been a pampering experience turned out to be a torturous one. Needless to say, I won't be returning, and I'm going stick to either Loma Spa in Cupertino or Universe Nails in San Mateo. read more

It was slow the night I was there so the other two clients, the two nail technicians and I all started chatting. It soon turned into a scene from Steel Magnolias! Now - reading some of these reviews......things have definitely changed at FYN. The negative views are outdated. The salon is clean, the staff friendly, and the best mani/pedi I've had in awhile. I actually am going back for a facial and eyelash extensions in a few days. For Your Nails is my #1 nail salon. I've been coming here for over 4 years now. I go on a semi-regular basis (when I can afford to have my nails done.) It's a small location, with room for maybe 8-10 mani/pedis at one time, with a separate room in back for waxing or facials. They take walk-ins as well as appointments. There's nothing fantastic about the decoration; it's simple, not gaudy and there are no TV's blaring. There's usually some classical music playing in the background, which makes for a peaceful environment. Just the way I like it! They have tea and water available to drink if you want it, too. Most of the ladies here chat to each other in their native tongue, but I don't mind. I actually prefer minimal chit chat so that I can sit and flip through my magazine of choice, or so I can zone out and relax. However, if you want some one to talk to, they'll chat it up with you, no problem! They're so friendly! Every time I come in my lady gives me the most fantastic hand/arm or leg massage. It's always *so* relaxing! I go here for my pedicures for two main reasons: 1) I almost always have a negative pedi experience elsewhere, and 2) I'm kinda paranoid about getting some weird infection from an improperly cleaned spa chair. (This fear isn't helped by the fact that there were a number of places in the area 2-3 years ago that spawned outbreaks of grossness. Ew. For me, the best part about this place is the fact that they *don't* have spa chairs. Instead, they use a shallow plastic foot bath, lined with a new plastic liner for each customer. I don't have to worry if the foot bath or their tools are clean. As for the prices: a manicure will cost about $18 and a pedicure about $28. All in all, my experiences here have always been wonderful! Note: If you're the type that *needs* to have massage chairs or frou-frou things floating in your foot bath, or multiple tv's on the walls, this isn't the place for you. read more

I brought my 10 yr old daughter in to get pedicures. We had to wait, but that's ok, we didn't have an appt. they gave my daughter a broken chair, which was also acceptable. But then I asked for a mani, and Ivy tried to convince me to get the gel...I said no. She did it anyway, and then asked if my daughter would also like the mani, she would do it all for 15...we said thank you! In the end, she didn't ever paint my daughters nails, and charged us for all of the services including the gel nails I didn't want! We don't have the money to do this very often. I feel robbed. I live in Palo Alto, but go out of my way to come here for mani/pedi's whenever I have time. The gals are perfectionists in application; also gentle, professional, friendly and awesome at massage. The salon is spa like but with a bit more energy and relaxing music. I have been going to Lynn for years. They are the best and really hurting right now due to Covid. There Covid processes are great. I felt very safe....there are plexiglass partitions between you and the manicurist. The manicure tables are spaced 6' apart and the pedicure chairs are use every other one so 6' apart as well. read more
