Expansive views of the pristine blue ocean and the Flagler Beach Pier draw you into this funky Florida beach bar, but the relaxed & fun atmosphere inside invites you to linger awhile. They offer a seasonally inspired menu with drink specials and Funky Hour is every day from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We started our bar crawl early that morning, so Katie, our spunky Barmaid, recommended the Funked Up Mary-A LOT of Tito's vodka, spicy Bloody Mary mix, topped with a chilled shrimp, a huge wedge of pepper jack cheese, briny green olives, a crispy cucumber slice, a crunchy celery stalk, a zesty pickle spear, a fun bright yellow curly straw and a very looooong Slim Jim all in a frosty 24oz mug with a tajín seasoned rim. It should've been called the FUNKED UP DAWNE.

Friendly service. Food was good. I had mahi taco, it was good. He had shrimp tacos, he was very satisfied. A little pricy IMO for a lay back Beachy environment. Drinks tasted like pre-pore .. ehhh

Need to give you an update!! We have been going back regularly for the steamed shrimp. It's the best in the area super tender, great seasoning options. Ambiance is still the best views in town, even with the construction but it's not their fault. Service always good too

We decided to go to Funky Pelican this morning for breakfast. We got our table on the patio with the perfect view of ocean. Our server greeted us and took our drink order. I have water with lemon while my husband ordered coffee. When she brought us our drinks she took our food order. I ordered the Breakfast Sammy with scrambled egg, Swiss cheese, sausage on wheat toast and home fries. My husband ordered the Hash & Eggs, eggs over easy, home fries and wheat toast. While we were waiting on our food we scored high on the view with several dolphins going by! Our food was very good, my sandwich was very tasty and the home fries were delicious very crispy with a great flavor. My husband said his corned beef hash was very good and he also agreed on the home fries. Our server was great and very friendly! Very good breakfast.

Let's put it this way. EVERYBODY should make their appearance at the Funky Pelican. It's legendary. It's a landmark. I love the interior and the exterior... seeing that they are RIGHT ON THE BEACH... wow! and the beach is ROUGH... we are talking the Atlantic here.... it was stormy this day... so I got to see the power of the ocean very clearly. Surprised that hurricanes haven't taken this restaurant into the deep dark depths... hopefully never. I will always bring my friends to the Funky Pelican... because its a vibe

This beautiful restaurant sits right on Flagler beach with inside and outside deck dining options. The crew is cheery and bright with great customer service . Our orders came out quickly and fresh. All of the dishes were delicious and fresh. Definitely a magnificent and unforgettable dining experience.

We went here today while walking the strip. Location and views are good. Service was good. Food is mediocre. I had the dolphin sandwich. There was minimal slaw and dressing on it. There was a thin fillet that was put on the sandwich and cut in half. Leaving excess bread. The gator bites were just sad. Very small bites and the portion was for a child not an appetizer. Wife liked her mojo pork burrito although the pork needed sauce. It was a little dry. For me their overpriced for what you receive. See my pictures.

Ocean Views, Epic Bites, and Unbeatable Vibes The ahi tuna was epic, perfectly seared, fresh, and packed with flavor. The tacos were divine, layered with just the right balance of texture and seasoning. Honestly, the food here exceeded expectations across the board. The Bloody Mary was bold and tasty, but the menu hyped it up to be more than it was. It promised a heavy pour and some flair, but it landed more in the "standard" category. Still good; just not quite the showstopper it made itself out to be. That said, the service was outstanding--warm, attentive, and exactly what you hope for when you're dining beachside. And the view? Absolutely gorgeous. Watching the waves roll in while enjoying great food and drinks is hard to beat. The Funky Pelican delivers. Come for the atmosphere, stay for the food, and leave already planning your next visit...or two.

We came here for brunch to celebrate my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint! I had the eggs benedict and it was so good--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The views overlooking the water made the experience even more special. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. It's a chill, laid-back spot with great food and even better vibes. Definitely one of our local favorites and a go-to for any special occasion or weekend brunch!

Twister shrimp with garlic Parmesan sauce that was so creamy and delicious. Maybe just order this next time.

Apart from the delay of having our order taken since no server was assigned our table at first, our experience was great at the Funky Pelican where we enjoyed delicious eats with the Atlantic Ocean and Flagler Beach as our backdrop. For my money, the twisted shrimp is grand and a huge portion, which you could either share with one to three people or just have for your meal. The garlic parmesan cream sauce was absolutely magical and creamy. That went well with fried-to-perfection shrimp that were well-sized and crispy. Due to the twisted shrimp, I could have gone without the Grilled Cheddar with bacon and a side of cheddar grits. However, I didn't anticipate the portion size of the latter, so I opted to devour the former, which both were incredibly tasty. I took The shrimp I didn't eat for leftovers and reheated it in the toaster oven for dinner the next day, which turned out just as tasty as when I initially received the order from the kitchen. The grilled cheddar was delicious on thick-cut bread with beautiful strips of bacon. The cheddar grits were incredibly satisfying as I didn't feel like ordering fries, which originally came with the meal, but I substituted them. I love the hot sauce caddie, where I sampled multiple bottles of hot sauces with my cheddar grits. It was magical--very magical. You have to ask for the hot sauce, which then you will realize they give you options. As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life. The cool coral reef-colored dining area was comfortable and relaxing as we ate our meal. The server, who ultimately served us after we waited a few minutes, was prompt and had our drinks and meals over fast. And if you want a good cocktail, you can't go wrong with the bourbon-forward Millions of Peaches, which also contains peach puree, pineapple juice, lime, and peach schnapps.

Still going strong in their offerings of great food and drinks. Can't go wrong with their spicy Bloody Mary for my favorite cocktail. Everything we've ever ordered here is delicious and expertly prepared. Staff from greeters and hosts to wait staff is always friendly for a true southern experience. Can't beat the beach, ocean, and pier views either. No matter what you order, you'll be very satisfied!

I was driving home along A1A in Flagler Beach and decided to stop here for lunch on a weekday. I was fortunate to get a seat on their outdoor deck with a gorgeous view. The menu had plenty of breakfast and lunch items. I was trying to be healthy so I ordered the Carribean Salad. It had kale and spinach leaves, along with grilled chicken. It was not my favorite salad, so I asked for some ranch dressing to make it a little better. I would return again but would probably order something else.

The Funky Pelican! You can't miss it. It's located right on Flagler's "main st" area, near the pier. It's right in the center of the action. It also says "Flagler Beach" in huge letters on the roof. We got takeout and it was a little hard to find parking. It was a week day yet the area was busy. All of the street parking was taken up so I found parking on a side street and walked over. The food was ready promptly and the staff was very friendly. Now to the important part, the food. Delicious! I had this divine Cajun fish sandwich. I was feeling like a fish sandwich to go along with the beachy vibes. It smelled amazing and tasted amazing too. I added some tarter sauce and that put it over the top. Yum! Plus did I mention the gluten free buns? Perfection. My husband had a double cheeseburger and he enjoyed that as well. Would return and recommend! It's the perfect place for a bite!

Not many people out n about so I couldn't really get a vibe for what the place would be like when it gets busy. But it was a great spot for breakfast and we sat on the rooftop area inside so it was covered from the rain, but I can't wait to go back someday for the outside ocean front deck, even closer to the water. I ordered the Irish Benedicte with hash that is homemade on premise with slow roasted corned beef. Very tasty. The side of Home fries were thinly sliced and I had gravy added to that so it was tasty too. Our server was excellent, Trevor was a very nice guy and he recommended we come back for the all you can eat ribs. I wish I was staying in town longer and I would. The beef was incredibly tender, slow-braised in a rich red wine reduction with pearl onions and mushrooms. The cream potatoes underneath were smooth, buttery, and perfect for soaking up that sauce. Every bite was delicious. We started with the Filet Carpaccio, thinly sliced and topped with shaved parmesan, capers, arugula, and crostini. Fresh, light, and beautifully plated. The bar program deserves its own mention. You can order a vodka soda anywhere, but here they elevate every drink with presentation and detail. Instead of a simple lime wedge, I watched drinks come out with full lime rounds resting on the rim. My Chocolate Martini dessert drink was practically artwork -- topped with a dehydrated orange slice, chocolate shavings, orange zest, and crossed chocolate-dipped sticks. It looked incredible and tasted even better. Atmosphere is another win here. Guests ranged from cocktail dresses to casual beachside attire and somehow it all fit perfectly. That balance is hard to achieve, but they've nailed it. We sat on the patio (about 67°) and they had the panels down, which kept it comfortable while still letting you enjoy the beachside atmosphere. Even the hallway to the restrooms was lined with art -- thoughtful details everywhere. Some restaurants look great but don't deliver on flavor. Others taste great but lack atmosphere. This place does both exceptionally well. Dinner for two with drinks came to $131 before tip, which felt very fair for the quality of food, cocktails, and overall experience. Looking forward to visit number three.

I ordered the grilled chicken and asparagus, which showcased the kitchen's skill. The grilled chicken was a mix of perfection and slight disappointment; one breast was cooked flawlessly, while the thinner piece was a bit dry, ultimately leading me to leave some behind. On the positive side, the asparagus was impeccable--tender yet crisp, a true highlight of the dish. To elevate my meal, I opted for the butter garlic sauce, which was nothing short of exceptional. Its rich flavor was a delightful addition, enhancing the overall dining experience. However, I found the extra charge of $3.00 for a portion that barely covered one chicken breast and two asparagus spears a bit disappointing. The sauce was so delectable that I ended up purchasing an additional container to take home for the asparagus I had left. **Beverages and Ambiance** The Beachy Sangria was another standout, offering a refreshing complement to my meal. It was perfectly balanced and added a delightful touch to our dining experience. The ambiance at Barnhill's is equally noteworthy. Dining outdoors provided us with stunning views of the waves breaking on the shore, making the meal feel even more special. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, enhancing our overall enjoyment. As for the service, it was good and our waitress was friendly. While there were a couple of minor issues, particularly with the chicken and the portion size of the sauce, the overall experience was delightful enough to warrant a return visit. The combination of scrumptious food, refreshing drinks, and a breathtaking view leads me to rate Barnhill's a solid 4 stars. I genuinely look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu.
