Great beach town restaurant. Good service, prompt and friendly. Standard cute beach town vibes and ambiance inside. The views are great! We sat at a tabletop right next the the window with the beach view. Good food! Fish sandwich. Not the most amazing thing ever but it was good and filling and for a decent price! I'd be back! read more

Shrimp and grits was absolutely the best dish on here... we were a party of five and two out of the five ordered sandwiches and stated the bread was crusty and dry. Kaysha our server was excellent. The ambience of the restaurant is the big picture windows overlooking the ocean or sitting on the patio overlooking the ocean/beach. It was Sunday so the crowds were busy inside and out read more

We found this place on Yelp, and since I really miss living by the beach, we had to give it a try. It's conveniently located right on the beach, and the walk from where we parked wasn't bad at all. We were seated on the outdoor patio, and I loved the views of the beach and the waves. I ordered a Funky Pelican cocktail, and it was delicious. For my meal, I ordered the fish and chips, which I dearly miss from growing up on Cape Cod. The fish was light, flaky, and perfectly cooked. The batter was crisp and not overly thick. I feel like a lot of places down South use too much batter, which takes away from the fish, but they struck a great balance here. They also served a generous portion of fries. With inflation these days, it seems like many restaurants have started cutting back on portions, so that was a nice surprise. The bathrooms were clean as well. The only downside was that it took a while for our waitress to check on us, but she appeared to be very busy. Other than that, we had a great experience and would definitely come back. read more

Let me start by saying - they don't have guest WiFi'!! The server was good and the fried food was good. Can't say much about the non fried food as some of my party said theirs lacked flavor. The location is so nice right in the beach. They also have a huge chalk board wall in front with chalk, So you can express yourself. read more

If you're lucky to get some parking out front then ensure you play the lottery that day. If not there is plenty of parking on side streets. What an Incredible view. Combine Comfortable outdoor seating watching the surfers and kayaks with reasonable pricing and Great servers and you have made it to heaven! The entrées that we have tried here have been very good And we made some T-shirt prices because they were quality made and very nice. Can't go wrong here read more

This place was great. The patio area outside was nice, I sat at the bar and the young gentleman bartender was super friendly and great at his job. The view is great. The other guests were super friendly and I enjoyed just sitting out here munching and chatting for awhile. The food was great, the young man recommended the mojo pork fries when I asked his opinion for something tasty and FAST (my blood sugar had crashed HARD from going too long without eating) and just like he said, this came out super quick and hit all the right notes. He also recommended getting the sauces on the side to customize accordingly which was a great call because while the reddish sauce was good, the green sauce was fantastic. Some locals recommended this place and I am glad they did. I can't wait to try the fish and chips next time, which they also say are the best in the area. I'll definitely be back. read more

Expansive views of the pristine blue ocean and the Flagler Beach Pier draw you into this funky Florida beach bar, but the relaxed & fun atmosphere inside invites you to linger awhile. They offer a seasonally inspired menu with drink specials and Funky Hour is every day from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We started our bar crawl early that morning, so Katie, our spunky Barmaid, recommended the Funked Up Mary-A LOT of Tito's vodka, spicy Bloody Mary mix, topped with a chilled shrimp, a huge wedge of pepper jack cheese, briny green olives, a crispy cucumber slice, a crunchy celery stalk, a zesty pickle spear, a fun bright yellow curly straw and a very looooong Slim Jim all in a frosty 24oz mug with a tajín seasoned rim. It should've been called the FUNKED UP DAWNE. read more

*AVOID* Last summer we were in the area and had 3 different recommendations from locals for the best place to grab a bite and feel the good vibes of the boardwalk. Unfortunately we chose the Funk Pelican on our last day. Mistake! The food was bland and underwhelming. The service was way below average. We didn't bother speaking to the management as we witnesses a rude and condescending conversation with another table when they expressed concerns about the cold food, service and a parking issue or something. It is really sad that a place with such a unique opportunity can't deliver on something as easy as food and service. The location and views are great but not great enough to overcome being a total waste of money and time. This was a Zero Star stop for us. read more

Need to give you an update!! We have been going back regularly for the steamed shrimp. It's the best in the area super tender, great seasoning options. Ambiance is still the best views in town, even with the construction but it's not their fault. Service always good too read more

Funky Pelican - View from outside deck - Seafood Near Me - Flagler Beach, Florida

The view from the outside patio is beautiful, besides the construction directly next door on the boardwalk/pier (not at all to the fault of the restaurant or reflected in my rating, but still worth noting). We ordered the Calamari and the Alligator Bites to start (we tried to order the crab cakes and our server, who I will not name, looked at us seriously and told us not to) followed by the Conch Fritters and the Basket with Mahi and Shrimp (with Fries and Slaw). The Calamari was good, the Alligator Bites were good, the Mahi and Shrimp were good. The Conch Fritters were tough and borderline hard on some parts. Service was good, she did forget to get another water for my fiancé but did offer to go drinks. read more

I saw some videos on Instagram and TikTok recommending this spot but was still on the fence. I drove to Buc-ees earlier that morning and spoke with the cashier who gave his glowing review. Location, its on a main beach street next to a pier. I pulled up and found parking in front. I saw signs for nearby lots and street parking as an option as well. I went in and saw the hostess. She stated it was self seated so I parked myself outside near the bar. First things first, gorgeous view of the water and pier. It was a beautiful Friday. Server came over promptly. I ordered a clam chowder and cocktail. It was a nice vibe. Very eclectic restaurant. Good prices. Warm staff. Friendly guests. honestly enjoyed my time there. read more

Let's put it this way. EVERYBODY should make their appearance at the Funky Pelican. It's legendary. It's a landmark. I love the interior and the exterior... seeing that they are RIGHT ON THE BEACH... wow! and the beach is ROUGH... we are talking the Atlantic here.... it was stormy this day... so I got to see the power of the ocean very clearly. Surprised that hurricanes haven't taken this restaurant into the deep dark depths... hopefully never. I will always bring my friends to the Funky Pelican... because its a vibe read more

We decided to go to Funky Pelican this morning for breakfast. We got our table on the patio with the perfect view of ocean. Our server greeted us and took our drink order. I have water with lemon while my husband ordered coffee. When she brought us our drinks she took our food order. I ordered the Breakfast Sammy with scrambled egg, Swiss cheese, sausage on wheat toast and home fries. My husband ordered the Hash & Eggs, eggs over easy, home fries and wheat toast. While we were waiting on our food we scored high on the view with several dolphins going by! Our food was very good, my sandwich was very tasty and the home fries were delicious very crispy with a great flavor. My husband said his corned beef hash was very good and he also agreed on the home fries. Our server was great and very friendly! Very good breakfast. read more

Partner knows I enjoy Pressed Cuban, He really surprised me with takeout from Funky Pelican. More like a pressed roll, minimal meat, hardly a hint of cheese, couldn't order with Lil mustard as they're made ahead, so ya get it their way! Very thinly sliced ham, minimal pork crumbles barely covering roll, Swiss? Not noted, few thin pickle slices with mustard I didn't want but, was given the mayo packets to kill it! $14.50 Will not return to try them again! Worst Cuban in my 35 yrs in Fl read more

Food came out quick. nice server. I had to get up to take my son to the potty and they threw out all of our food and drinks. basically accused of dining and dashing... lol manager didn't even apologize just had a stern look on his face and replaced my crab cake with a smaller portion... the drinks were good but I will never go back read more

Ocean Views, Epic Bites, and Unbeatable Vibes The ahi tuna was epic, perfectly seared, fresh, and packed with flavor. The tacos were divine, layered with just the right balance of texture and seasoning. Honestly, the food here exceeded expectations across the board. The Bloody Mary was bold and tasty, but the menu hyped it up to be more than it was. It promised a heavy pour and some flair, but it landed more in the "standard" category. Still good; just not quite the showstopper it made itself out to be. That said, the service was outstanding--warm, attentive, and exactly what you hope for when you're dining beachside. And the view? Absolutely gorgeous. Watching the waves roll in while enjoying great food and drinks is hard to beat. The Funky Pelican delivers. Come for the atmosphere, stay for the food, and leave already planning your next visit...or two. read more

We went here today while walking the strip. Location and views are good. Service was good. Food is mediocre. I had the dolphin sandwich. There was minimal slaw and dressing on it. There was a thin fillet that was put on the sandwich and cut in half. Leaving excess bread. The gator bites were just sad. Very small bites and the portion was for a child not an appetizer. Wife liked her mojo pork burrito although the pork needed sauce. It was a little dry. For me their overpriced for what you receive. See my pictures. read more

Still going strong in their offerings of great food and drinks. Can't go wrong with their spicy Bloody Mary for my favorite cocktail. Apart from the delay of having our order taken since no server was assigned our table at first, our experience was great at the Funky Pelican where we enjoyed delicious eats with the Atlantic Ocean and Flagler Beach as our backdrop. For my money, the twisted shrimp is grand and a huge portion, which you could either share with one to three people or just have for your meal. The garlic parmesan cream sauce was absolutely magical and creamy. That went well with fried-to-perfection shrimp that were well-sized and crispy. Due to the twisted shrimp, I could have gone without the Grilled Cheddar with bacon and a side of cheddar grits. However, I didn't anticipate the portion size of the latter, so I opted to devour the former, which both were incredibly tasty. I took The shrimp I didn't eat for leftovers and reheated it in the toaster oven for dinner the next day, which turned out just as tasty as when I initially received the order from the kitchen. The grilled cheddar was delicious on thick-cut bread with beautiful strips of bacon. The cheddar grits were incredibly satisfying as I didn't feel like ordering fries, which originally came with the meal, but I substituted them. I love the hot sauce caddie, where I sampled multiple bottles of hot sauces with my cheddar grits. It was magical--very magical. You have to ask for the hot sauce, which then you will realize they give you options. As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life. The cool coral reef-colored dining area was comfortable and relaxing as we ate our meal. The server, who ultimately served us after we waited a few minutes, was prompt and had our drinks and meals over fast. And if you want a good cocktail, you can't go wrong with the bourbon-forward Millions of Peaches, which also contains peach puree, pineapple juice, lime, and peach schnapps. read more

The Funky Pelican! You can't miss it. It's located right on Flagler's "main st" area, near the pier. It's right in the center of the action. It also says "Flagler Beach" in huge letters on the roof. We got takeout and it was a little hard to find parking. It was a week day yet the area was busy. All of the street parking was taken up so I found parking on a side street and walked over. The food was ready promptly and the staff was very friendly. Now to the important part, the food. Delicious! I had this divine Cajun fish sandwich. I was feeling like a fish sandwich to go along with the beachy vibes. It smelled amazing and tasted amazing too. I added some tarter sauce and that put it over the top. Yum! Plus did I mention the gluten free buns? Perfection. My husband had a double cheeseburger and he enjoyed that as well. Would return and recommend! It's the perfect place for a bite! read more

I was driving home along A1A in Flagler Beach and decided to stop here for lunch on a weekday. I was fortunate to get a seat on their outdoor deck with a gorgeous view. The menu had plenty of breakfast and lunch items. I was trying to be healthy so I ordered the Carribean Salad. It had kale and spinach leaves, along with grilled chicken. It was not my favorite salad, so I asked for some ranch dressing to make it a little better. I would return again but would probably order something else. read more
