I just visited this location ticket number 0328 i ordered 1 kids hamburger meal and one cheeseburger kids meal and smoked wings with white sauce in was told it's a 10 min wait would I mind I said sure expecting fresh food and order being correct I wait when the lady come to bring my food out I ask was my white sauce in there she says yes I open my food to let the kids eat in the car I get 2 cheese burger kids meal fresh with cold fries my smoked wings were cold and had no white sauce I will never eat there again I don't mind waiting for fresh food not cold food and order half done! The worst $36.00 that I've spent in awhile. Not to mention this was also the worst Full Moon that I've ever patronized. I ordered take out. Once I got home, opened the containers OMG. The food looked like it had been sitting out for days, cold, hard & dried out. It wasn't edible. The inside of the restaurant was nasty & the workers were having loud conversations amongst each using profanity.That should had been an indication that this wasn't the restaurant for me. The pork platter was absolutely excellent -- tender (with some roasted bits) -- true pork bliss on a plate. A quibble: the beautiful pork was drowned by quite a bit of a very good bbq sauce (next time I will request that the sauce be on the side -- pity to drown such wonderful meat). Sides of excellent black eyed peas and very good collards. The accompanying chow chow was awesome -- sweet and tangy (I picked up a jar for $5 on the way out). Our visit was okay at best. I felt like I needed to review because we went here based on the reviews of fellow yelpers. Some had recommended the collards and BBQ brisket. The collards were flavorless. It tasted like they were boiled in water and served. They had no seasoning, nothing to amp them up. As for the brisket, we found it to be dry! It looked appealing on the sandwich, but when we took our first bite, it was overcooked and just lacking that delicious juiciness that good brisket must have. We also ordered the cookies, and they were nothing special. They were hard and crunchy. All in all I'm sure maybe some of the other items on their menu are decent, I just wasn't impressed with our selections, especially considering they were supposed to be wonderful! read more

Great BBQ Ribs & Hot Chow-Chow.

Have eaten here several times over the last few years when I was in Birmingham but over the last year this place has really gone downhill. Tonight the pork plate was HORRIBLE!! Meat was chewy and cold. Staff was carrying on conversations that everyone in the restaurant could hear. Went into the bathroom and there was someone in there smoking pot. Trying to eat at local restaurants I ordered food last night for my family's dinner.  When I called I was told it would take 20 minutes, but it took an hour!  Very very poor staffing!  They had one lady working the busy drive thru and one young lady working the front counter.  I felt so sorry for her!  She was doing her very best while talking phone orders, ringing orders up, packing up orders and running food out to customers.  She was very sweet and kept apologizing, but it was not her fault!  I can't believe any manager would just leave their restaurant so understaffed.  He should have been there!  It's not fair to their employees or customers.  After waiting an hour for our food it wasn't even that good.  The BBQ we ordered was good, but not enough sauce. The fries tasted awful, due to them using old grease and the chicken fingers were not very good either. They also left out our dipping sauces.  I won't be back to this location! read more

As a native Alabamian and having lived in the south all my life I've become, like most in Dixie, a fan of BBQ. Primarily pork and this review will cover that but what separates Full Moon from every other BBQ joint in Birmingham is their Beef Brisket Sandwich. Best I've ever had. And this seems almost sacrilegious to utter, but I do believe it's the best BBQ sandwich period I've ever had. Absolutely fantastic. Full moons regular sauce is too sweet for me but wow does it fit the Beef Brisket. Cannot recommend this choice enough. As I mentioned the regular sauce is pretty sweet but using chow chow, which is a default choice so make sure you ask to leave off if you don't like it, is a perfect compliment and mitigates the sweetness. Portions, like every place these days, is copious. I've also heard good things about the turkey but honestly, since I've tried the brisket I'm not sure I'll ever try anything else again. With that said, the chopped port and ribs are all very good. Clean and with a courteous staff Full Moon is about as good as you'll find in a chain BBQ joint. And if you didn't get it before, GET THE BEEF BRISKET! :) read more

Ran across this by accident going thru birmingham saw wafflehouse mcdonalds burgerk and krystals so eat in bbq was the choice about mile and half down the road.order at the counter and they bring your food to the table.the brunswick stew was so good and thick with meat and veggies.i will miss not getting more in florida. I'm really not even sure where to start. I came into the restaurant for a quick bite to eat and saw several things happen that I found pretty unfortunate. Upon entering there were a handful of customers seated or waiting for to-go orders, but nothing outrageous. When I stepped up to order it became obvious that multiple employees were trying to do multiple jobs (despite counting approx. 12 individuals between the counter and kitchen), and no one seemed to know what was going on. The guy who rang me up didn't put in my order correctly or even give me a chance to order my drink before he spit out a total at me. Another employee was kind enough to give me a drink, and I was ready to ignore the earlier mishap. But then I went to find a seat and found that none of the tables had been wiped off. I found one that was passable after I wiped it off with a napkin and sat for almost 30 minutes (again, this was not a busy night) for a subpar dinner. During that time I listened to the employees bicker and curse at each other, talk smack about the customers' and their orders ("who the **** does HE think he is asking me if I put ranch in the to-go bag??", "Imma come across this counter if you ask me one more time if that order is ready. Why the **** are you so obsessed with it?"). Other customers in the dining area were also clearly uncomfortable with the activity, and I saw one individual leave before ordering after he saw how things were going. Following all of this, I went to the counter to get a to go box and refill; I was handed my box and then ignored by 3 employees for almost a minute until one asked "Why are you just standing there? Do you need something?". I'm really not someone to complain- I didn't complain about the drink, I asked if I could order one and pay for it real quick; I didn't stand at the counter or ask about the progress of preparing my meal; I also tried to pay for an extra sauce I wanted for my to-go box. I just found the whole experience so off-putting that I felt the head manager or owner should be aware of what happened. I think it would be wise for management to improve their attitudes to be more positive, for the employees to display more respect towards management, and for the owner/manger to not tolerate the employees cursing at each other or talking trash about the customers, especially if they are literally still in the store. Beyond that, more attention to the customer would also probably be beneficial (Is there anything else I can get for you? Does that complete your order? Etc.). read more

This Full Moon location has declined based on our past few visits. The last visit I ordered a large barbecue sandwich,slaw and fries. I received chopped meat (not requested). I don't like chopped BBQ because it allows some restaurants to add meat not used in pulled or sliced BBQ . It was not good. The quantity of fries was small but the slaw was good as always. My wife ordered a small BBQ with the same result. It also took a long time to get our order on a moderately busy week day evening. I supported Full Moon when Pat first opened in Southside and also this location opened by the current owners (when Pat was a P.R./greeter). It disappoints me to have to support a competitive chain who's quality and good service is consistent everywhere we have eaten. read more

I love the food, but every single time I call in an order (once or twice a month), they mess up my order... or make me wait. I got there 10 minutes after they told me my food would be ready. Then I stood around for another 15 minutes before my food came out. This would be fine, but it's 5 p.m., and there are 12 people working behind the counter/kitchen. This is excellent BBQ. From pulled pork to chicken to sausage, they have great quality meat with excellent flavor. Arguably the best baked potatoes in Birmingham. They are HUGE and if you order them with pulled pork or chicken you won't be disappointed. read more

I think I just had the worst ribs I've ever had in my life. They were burned to a crisp and very dry. Ribs should not be crunchy. They were covered in way too much sauce. I don't know if that was to mask the flavor of the burned meat or to try to moisten them up a bit. The sides were ok but I was given two slices of bread that were so stale I was afraid I was going to chip a tooth. If this was the first time I had an experience like this here I would just assume it was a fluke but my last experience was almost as bad. Over cooked ribs and stale bread seems to be their new company policy. From now on I'll take a little extra time and drive downtown to Dreamland when I want good barbecue. read more

Placed a call in order. Very simple. Pork loaded potato w/ side of baked beans. Was told on the phone would be ready in 5 minutes. Arrived 10 mins later and paid. Waited another 10 mins and cars are flying in and out of the drive through and I keep seeing my ticket passed over. I ask what the issue is. Finally I am told they have run out of potato's. My thought is well why have I been waiting 20 minutes for something you are just now telling me you ran out of. Place is very poorly managed. Manager was not very helpful in any capacity. read more

Passing thru wanted some Q- after originally going to go through Memphis but instead drove via Birmingham. Normally star level would of turned me off, but when I read reviews it was good food, questionable service. Well it's kinda self-serve so not sure how service can get messed up. Son had ribs, said very good, did fall off the bone, and some of the best he's had (but he's view of dining world is limited). He had Mac cheese said black"not bad". I had pork bbq sandwich which was pretty good, but they put this chow chow relish on it- that I said it did not want on it. However, it wasn't bad, so I can say I had the chow chow. I ordered a chicken plate with baked beans and potato salad. Everything was great! We eat here often, hubby claims their BBQ is the best in town, always moist and he loves their sauces. Only complaint is smoke smell inside and slippery floors. Don't know what could help these matters. read more

I placed an order for their country fried steak that they only have on the weekend. I called in and placed my order on Sunday May 15th went in picked up order headed back to work get back to work missing side no gravy on the meat called back to inform them of the missing sides young lady name Shay answered the phone told her what had happen her responds to me was what do you wanna do "rude". Told her I would be bringing the food back she says ok. Gets there then she proceeds to tell me they are out of the side I wanted what side do I want to replace with by now I am heated all I want is my refund and you keep your food was my response, it you wanted to make it right for 1 you should have told me this when I came to pick up the order 2 you could have been less rude when I called back. So I got the corporate number to file a complaint little good that did called the number on Monday the 16th gave my contact information to customer care service agent because she has to give it to the owner I then asked would I be receiving a call today she says yes well its Saturday May 22nd no call, it's fair to say the owner is good with his customers being treated this way. Great Q with sides that will keep you coming back for more! Sure, its Alabama and BBQ is a staple, but consistency is key! Not my favorite bbq joint in town. Their meat is usually dry and lacks flavor. The sauces are typical and nothing special compared to grocery store bought sauces. I have found that their bbq spud is a safe order when a friend wants to eat here. read more

We used to love this place. Now, we keep trying to like them again. It's a fail each time. Just left there after an extended wait at the drive thru, they're out of baked potatoes AGAIN. Take it off the menu if you can't have enough to serve. This happens often and the same girl half way working there usually gets something about our order wrong. Jim & nicks is a little farther away, way busier, but they have potatoes and a fully functioning employees, they have our business from here on out. The last time I was here the customer service was awful. I ordered the 3 rib sandwich and a side of mac and cheese. I got to the window and they couldn't find my order. Had to tell it to them again. They didn't give me a receipt when I paid just shoved my card back out the window. They then shoved my bag out the window and the drive Thru attendant said "Here!" because I didn't grab it fast enough. Then as I'm driving off I realize They didn't put my side in the bag. So I go back the menu and let them know they didn't give me my complete order, and instead of saying, "Pull around ma'am we'll bring that out." They instructed me to sit through the entire line of about 6 cars again, and come back to the window to get it. Tonight I decided to give them a second chance, I pull up, at 6:30 PM ask for 4 different meals, after getting through my entire order the worker spits that they were out of a part or all, of everything I asked for as though I was agitating her by asking for things they didn't have. Then got downright rude when I said Thank you but never mind. We will NOT be back to this location despite its close proximity to my house. read more
