I usually have no Issues at this location. This past time I went and order the riblet plate and it was FULL of fat( didn't take a picture) there was little to no meat and also no sauce. It was a to go order so I had to call back up there and was instructed to bring it back and they would remake it. We didn't realize that this location is part of a chain with most locations in Alabama and one in Mississippi. The interior is filled with college ball memorabilia from jerseys to images and more. We arrived around 5:30pm on a sunday. It was fairly quiet and we were able to order our food fairly shortly after arriving. They have a soft drinks and beer available for purchase. I ordered the pork baked potato. The potato was huge but there was less than a handful of pork on it. There was at least two handfuls of shredded cheese and a splash of bbq sauce and sour cream. While it was tasty, the potato itself tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. My husband got the two meat plate with ribs, airline chicken. He got the greens and mac n cheese as his sides. Greens had flavor, but were cold. Mac n cheese was the worst thing either of us have tasted. The ribs had been sitting out to long and were dry. Chicken was moist and was the only thing that tasted like it was fairly fresh. The condiment station was mess and when we left it had clearly still not been cleaned up. Ordered 4 rib plate with collards and slaw. Slaw was very good. Collards were good with the exception of being too salty. Ate 2 ribs threw other two away. They were TOUGH as leather and covered with salt. Feel like they had been cooked for a long while. Father Day's dinner wasn't as good as expected. Should have just ordered BBQ sandwich. We ordered two to-go meals and couldn't be happier! I had a half rack of ribs with potato salad and Mac and cheese. A bit too much vinegar in the potato salad but I couldn't stop eating the Mac and cheese. My husband really enjoyed his baked potato stuffed with chicken. Spectacular food all around. I'm from Texas but this authentic Alabama barbecue is the best I've ever tasted. We had the pulled pork plates with baked beans and corn on the cob. And the coleslaw!! I'm obsessed with Full Moon and have to stop at one whenever in Alabama. Everything here is delicious - you can't go wrong. Personally I love the smoked chicken sandwich - not all BBQ restaurants offer chicken sandwiches (often just red meat options or a non-sandwich half chicken option), so I love being able to get this. I get mine without pickles and chow chow but other folks seem to like those. The regular sauce is so good! Go to sides are Mac and cheese and baked beans. The potato salad and onion rings are great as well! The baked potatoes are also really good - you may be noticing a pattern by now. Note if you order an entree potato it's actually 2 potatoes squished together and is GIANT. Onion rings large order is LARGE. Each onion ring I swear is half an onion. Sweet tea and chocolate pie also must get items. Everyone at this location was so kind and helpful! Service was quick and food amazing as always. Don't forget to grab a tshirt. "Best butts in town" and "best little pork house in Alabama" are my personal faves. read more

This is my second and last review because I will never return to this location. We had a bad experience here ten months ago and the manager at the time sent me a $25 voucher to "make up" for our bad experience. Cool, I'll give it a while to see if they get it together. I'm fair if nothing else. (Albeit brutally honest). Today we had to travel to Dothan for some business and decided to give them another opportunity to make things right. I ordered the beef brisket plate with two sides and my wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries. I will start with her lunch. The pulled pork had definitely been microwaved and it was very mushy. Her fries were undercooked by approximately three minutes. She couldn't consume either item. My brisket was likely the toughest, driest and most tasteless brisket I've ever had. I will say my sides were very good. (Greens and fried green tomatoes). I'm not sure what's going on at this location but it definitely isn't up to par for the brand. If you love good barbecue you should drive by Full Moon in Dothan, Alabama. I should also add that we were only given a $20 credit for a $25 voucher. I didn't notice until after we were halfway home. read more

Came to Full Moon to buy lunch for work. This review is based on take out. I ordered the Brisket full moon plate combo which consisted of Brisket, toasted buns, fried green tomatoes and creamy Mac & cheese. The brisket tasted ok and the sauce on it was good however it was semi dry but tender. The Mac and cheese was indeed creamy but it lacked flavor. It could have used a little salt. The fried green tomatoes was too seasoned and packed some heat which I liked but a little too salty and the toasted bread was ok as well. My family and I were there on Sunday Night around 7:30 I ordered a Loaded Bake with Pork . My brother ordered a baked potato my sister-in- law got the chicken plate I was the 1st to to order . We sat down and within 10 minutes my brother and Sister-in-law had their food . I waited a few more minutes , I had to go to the counter to ask for my food which was sitting up in the window . Plan potato meat on the side and one of the workers said you wanted plan I said no it should have everything on it except for the onions. Today i tried full moon for the first time, i have always wanted to try it, plus I needed to compare it to COUNTRIES BBQ from Columbus, I love the BBQ SANDWICH WITH BRISKET from countries so i had to try the one from FULL MOON and it was pretty good but the meat was a little bit hard to chew and dry, the flavor was great but it wasn't juicy, it was dry and hard to chew, Brisket is supposed to almost melt on your mouth, is soft and juicy not dry .... Working long days out of town and not knowing anything about the town is not always fun. When hunger hits, it's time to find a good place to eat. On my way back to my hotel after working 11 hours out in the rural parts of Dothan, I saw this big smiling moon and it beckoned me!!! What a delight to have some freshly made, truly southern, amply portioned bar-b-Que! The meal I ordered was truly enough for two, but since I was flying solo, the left-overs made a great lunch for the following day. Maybe it's because we were there around 3:00 pm, but the food was done terribly. The ribs were dry and overcooked. That's very disappointing for a BBQ Restaurant, no matter what time it is. Driving through Dothan and saw this place. Don't regret the decision at all. It was delicious. Definitely a go to in Dothan. The service was upbeat, on point, friendly, and fast. The portion were on the bigger side. We did not leave hungry. Ordered the two meat plate. The ribs were tender and falling off the bone, with a great taste. The sliced pork was tender with a great smoke kissed taste. The coleslaw was a vinegar base, not mayonnaise. Which is what I prefer. It had a good relish sweetness with a vinegar tang. The BBQ beans were average. The sausage and palmetto cheese was good. My mother said her chicken was good. But, agreed the greens were on the salty side. In the end. Stopped for lunch with the fam after doing some Saturday morning errands. Normally I'm not a fan of barbecue chains, but based on the reviews/stars, thought we'd give Full Moon a shot. I ordered the two meat combo with pork and smoked sausage plate, my wife ordered the salad with smoked chicken, my son ordered the Southern burger and my daughter had the kid's hotdog and mac and cheese. Everyone was rather disappointed. The pork was mediocre at best, with little to no smoky flavor and several fatty chunks. The smoked sausage was just okay, but had more flavor than the pork. My wife's salad was "decent" she said, but she didn't finish it (read between the lines, I think she was just trying to put on a good face). My son's burger, he said had a good flavor, but was small and left him still hungry, even with a side of fries. My daughter liked her hot dog, but she said her Mac and cheese was terrible and refused to finish it. The inside of the restaurant was fairly clean and there were a good number of folks there having lunch. Maybe I'm missing something or we just ordered the completely wrong items they're known for, but for $44 dollars, I definitely expected better. Tried it, won't be back. Traveling south and need a great BBQ restaurant well Full Moon Bar B Que is the place to go with a full selection of dishes. Some of the best cooked BBQ dishes out there. The ambiance is quite suited for large families and or friend gatherings. They serve great selection of BBQ dishes and beers. We got a variety of entrees but this evening we were unable to order the full rack of beef ribs as they were completely sold out after ordering a side pork rib which tells me that the ribs are the most popular item on the menu. The staff was friendly and helpful. When you first entered the restaurant you will walk up to the line where the menu selections are posted on a board. You can choose pretty much from roasted chicken, briskets, and ribs. I highly recommend this place for some authentic southern BBQ served with sauce or without sauce. At first impression it looks like a fast food joint from the outside inside is More counter service sports bar. We placed a to go order over the phone and went to pick It up admittedly had some confusion on procedure du to the call in order pick Up sign but that was the biggest issue. The associate that took our order was kind, but he was talking so fast my wife or I could not understand him. I informed him that I was hard of hearing and slow on comprehension, but he kept talking fast. I couldn't understand the menu. I like Chow-Chow but I don't like it on my meat. It should be served on the side. The Portion size was small compared for the price I pay. I usually eat barbecue from another chain in the southeastern United States. The pork meat was flavored good. I give it a 3. The bake beans was a little too sweet. I give it a 3 The Onion Rings were delicious. They really had an onion in them not ground up pieces. I give the Onion Rings a 5 plus. The Ear of corn was a full ear not a half of an ear. 5 plus. They had free refills on the soft drinks and tea. I hate going back to the counter to get a refill. I prefer the kiosk. I give it a 3. The restaurant needs to be a little cleaner. The table was sticky, we had an associate wipe it off for us. I give it a 1. They need to offer more sauce flavors. I give it a 2. The only negative thing I have to say about this place...why don't we have one in Mobile??? I have been to 3 locations around Alabama. I absolutely love this barbecue restaurant. Usually I get the big baker which is stuffed to the brim with pork or chicken. Today I wasn't feeling too hot, so I stuck to the sliced brisket sandwich and I'm glad I did. It was delicious. It has a few burnt ends which always give the brisket some flavor and the meat was tender and tasty. Instead of beans or potato salad, I got fried okra as my side. Oh wow! This okra is not the frozen kind and dropped in a fryer. It is cut fresh and lightly breaded and fried. It is absolutely Divine. That was some fabulous okra. The sweet tea is on point. Always a sucker for BBQ Full Moon was a welcome sight. A two meat combo, ribs & brisket was ordered and served minutes later. there was so much meat on the plate there was barely any room for my healthy veggies....... collard green and fried okra. A nice touch was that they warm their sauce, nothing worse than cold sauce and warm meat. If you're a college football fan there's plenty of memorabilia to keep you entertained. Really friendly people and really great food. I was shocked at how delicious the food was for a chain. Food: They offer family meals which is perfect for busy families as they can quickly pick up a meal on their way home. They also have a drive thru but don't let that bias you! The quality and flavor of food surpassed what you would expect from a typical drive-thru establishment. Ambiance: Football played on multiple TVs, A/C, comfy booths, and large tables. This is a wonderful bbq joint. I am definitely not used to bbq restaurants being fast food, but this place has quality and speed! My husband and I have eaten here a couple time and both times we were not disappointed! We like going to Academy so it is very convenient to drop by here and grab some food. I had the baked potato, and chili. My husband has had multiple items on the menu I lost count.
