Huge portions on a pulled pork plate!
    George D.

Spectacular food all around. I'm from Texas but this authentic Alabama barbecue is the best I've ever tasted. We had the pulled pork plates with baked beans and corn on the cob. And the coleslaw!! How great was this !! We will certainly be back to partake in this goodness next time we're in town.

I'm obsessed with Full Moon and have to stop at one whenever in Alabama. Everything here is delicious - you can't go wrong. Personally I love the smoked chicken sandwich - not all BBQ restaurants offer chicken sandwiches (often just red meat options or a non-sandwich half chicken option), so I love being able to get this. I get mine without pickles and chow chow but other folks seem to like those. The regular sauce is so good! Go to sides are Mac and cheese and baked beans. The potato salad and onion rings are great as well! The baked potatoes are also really good - you may be noticing a pattern by now. Note if you order an entree potato it's actually 2 potatoes squished together and is GIANT. Onion rings large order is LARGE. Each onion ring I swear is half an onion. Sweet tea and chocolate pie also must get items. Everyone at this location was so kind and helpful! Service was quick and food amazing as always. Don't forget to grab a tshirt. "Best butts in town" and "best little pork house in Alabama" are my personal faves.

This is my second and last review because I will never return to this location. We had a bad experience here ten months ago and the manager at the time sent me a $25 voucher to "make up" for our bad experience. Cool, I'll give it a while to see if they get it together. I'm fair if nothing else. (Albeit brutally honest). Today we had to travel to Dothan for some business and decided to give them another opportunity to make things right. I ordered the beef brisket plate with two sides and my wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries. I will start with her lunch. The pulled pork had definitely been microwaved and it was very mushy. Her fries were undercooked by approximately three minutes. She couldn't consume either item. My brisket was likely the toughest, driest and most tasteless brisket I've ever had. I will say my sides were very good. (Greens and fried green tomatoes). I'm not sure what's going on at this location but it definitely isn't up to par for the brand. If you love good barbecue you should drive by Full Moon in Dothan, Alabama. I should also add that we were only given a $20 credit for a $25 voucher. I didn't notice until after we were halfway home.

Full moon plate brisket combo. Brisket, fried green tomatoes, creamy Mac and cheese and toasted bun bread

Came to Full Moon to buy lunch for work. This review is based on take out. I ordered the Brisket full moon plate combo which consisted of Brisket, toasted buns, fried green tomatoes and creamy Mac & cheese. The brisket tasted ok and the sauce on it was good however it was semi dry but tender. The Mac and cheese was indeed creamy but it lacked flavor. It could have used a little salt. The fried green tomatoes was too seasoned and packed some heat which I liked but a little too salty and the toasted bread was ok as well. Overall the food was ok but it would fall to the top as far as top BBQ places I've been too.

Working long days out of town and not knowing anything about the town is not always fun. When hunger hits, it's time to find a good place to eat. On my way back to my hotel after working 11 hours out in the rural parts of Dothan, I saw this big smiling moon and it beckoned me!!! What a delight to have some freshly made, truly southern, amply portioned bar-b-Que! The meal I ordered was truly enough for two, but since I was flying solo, the left-overs made a great lunch for the following day. Fresh, tasty, good service and as fast as I would hope.....considering I wanted FRESH food. Give it a try. Very tasty!

We walked into Full Moon Bar-B-Que about 50 minutes before it closed, and they were so fast and friendly! We got our food in about 10-15 minutes and it was awesome! We have always had good experiences with this restaurant...the workers are always kind and friendly! We will be back and we enjoyed it. It did not disappoint our big group!

Driving through Dothan and saw this place. Don't regret the decision at all. It was delicious. Definitely a go to in Dothan. The service was upbeat, on point, friendly, and fast. The portion were on the bigger side. We did not leave hungry. Ordered the two meat plate. The ribs were tender and falling off the bone, with a great taste. The sliced pork was tender with a great smoke kissed taste. The coleslaw was a vinegar base, not mayonnaise. Which is what I prefer. It had a good relish sweetness with a vinegar tang. The BBQ beans were average. The sausage and palmetto cheese was good. My mother said her chicken was good. But, agreed the greens were on the salty side. In the end. Fast, friendly, good, and a good price. Definitely going back.

Some of the best BBQ in Dothan. Fries are also pretty good. However the chocolate pie is the absolute best!!!

We got here just as they opened on Saturday and a few larger parties had just come in. We started…read morewith mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and I had a diet Dr Pepper. Was super excited to see they have that good crushed ice! The mozzarella sticks were hot and fresh and they served them to us with their homemade ranch. My sister and I both got the breadsticks. Mom had a loaded baked potato and my fiance had the pulled pork sandwich lunch special. The good: mom's baked potato with all 3 meats was super good. The chicken was smoky and super tender and moist. Next time we would all probably choose just the chicken. It's a huge portion so have a big appetite if you order this. There's also a large variety of barbecue sauces on the table. We loved the mustard based one. Amanda's sauce is also smoky and a little sweet but super tasty. We didn't try the others. The okay, but I wouldn't say bad: the loaded breadsticks are good but they aren't as good as Mama Rosa's and it all comes down to the crust. Mama Rosa's are softer and cheesier. A little more buttery too. The ones at SJ's were good, but not great and the cheese seemed like it was probably pre shredded and bagged so it didn't melt down too good. No brown/caramelized areas of cheese on top, ya know? The bread was bland and sort of hard. It took a fair bit of sauce and ranch to make it have much of a taste at all because the bread really overpowered the taste of the meat and cheese. The quality of the meat on our breadsticks vs what was on mom's potato was night and day and they were almost the same meats. My fiancé's sandwich was okay but he said it wasn't anything special. We had been here quite a bit in the past for family parties, and I definitely recommend them for those. They have party rooms and great service for those parties. Food quality just seemed a bit less than what I'd had from here before.

Our server was great but harried as she had to wait tables on both sides of the restaurant. We started with the trout dip, which was delicious. There was a long delay between appetizer and entrees, but again, busy! I had the snapper Ponchatrain, which was honestly one of the best fish preparations I've ever had! Blackened snapper on a bed of delicious grits with a topping of crab and an amazing sauce made for a spectacularly yummy dish. My husband had a disappointing experience with the country fried steak. The steak was overdone and the breading didn't stick to the steak. Just not at all satisfying. We will be back but will choose our entrees more carefully next time. The food is top notch, but pay careful attention to what you order and you'll be happy with your meal!

We made reservations online and I would highly recommend you do especially for the weekend nights. Their bar area is first come first serve, but we've definitely been there when it is completely full so I wouldn't count on it as a backup plan. It is all street parking in this area and on a busy night. It can be hard to find parking unless you go down a block or two. We started with the okra, french fries and they were delicious! They come with a Sriracha aïoli which gives a little bit of heat, but it balances nicely with these perfectly fried okra fries. It also feels like there's cheese inside of the fried so you get kind of those gooey us along with the okra. Important to note no sliminess! My husband got the steak frites. The steak was definitely thinner than we recall having in the past, but it was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was great. The grits were also really delicious as well, although he wished they would've been just a little bit creamier. I opted for the southern fried steak, which comes on a bed of horseradish mashed potatoes. There were a ton of mashed potatoes on that plate and honestly kind of overwhelmed the steak. But the steak was really tender. I love the breading, although there were certain portions where the breading felt, it was almost too much as it was super crunchy. My husband got the KBC old-fashioned. He always asks for a little bit of cherry juice in his cocktail and the first round, It definitely was more cherry juice than it was liquor. The second one he asked him to just bring the cherry juice in a small container so he could control it and it was much better. I had their peach cocktail and it was absolutely delicious. Very easy to drink, but full of flavor with peach and ginger.
