This would be four stars except for the service. I AM SO SICK OF NEVER BEING SERVED ON! One waitress didn't know what miso or ginger was and then bent over and we saw way more thong than we wanted. She never pulled up her pants so everytime she walked past or away my friend and I got a look of hot pink thong strings and some butt crack. Awwww just what I want before I have a rainbow roll. The food VERY GOOD sushi. Their miso is so so but the sushi is high grade for quincy and very reasonably priced. My favorite thing to get is the spicy tuna roll and the rainbow roll. Some of the rolls are a miss but most of them are a safe bet. Like others posted below, I bought a certificate from restaurant.com on 9/21, shortly after I saw they had been added to the site. I had never been there before, but read pretty good reviews and asked my friends from JP to make the trek out to Quincy on a rainy Friday evening (10/15) for a night of yummy discount sushi. Before I bought it though, I double- and triple-checked to make sure there were no restrictions on Friday/Saturday nights. One of my friends arrived first and called to tell me about the handwritten sign on the door saying "no restaurant.com gift certificates." We tried to talk to the manager(?), but she was totally rude and dismissive. She said they just instituted the "no weekend" rule and demanded to know when I printed the coupon. I showed her that it said I bought it on 9/21, and she said, "We changed the rules on the site today," and told me to come back on a weekday. My friend told her that this wasn't fair and pretty unprofessional, but she blew us off. She did say she would reimburse me for what I paid for it, probably know though that most people pay $3-6 with the discount codes. I was disgusted, and we just left. I understand that businesses underestimate "the Groupon effect" and become totally overwhelmed by this stuff, but this was so sleazy. I don't even understand why they would put themselves up on this site if they didn't want discount diners. I'm also just aghast at how we were treated... I worked in a restaurant for two years and could never ever see one of our managers treating us the way we were treated. I will never go back there. BTW, I did call restaurant.com to complain. They apologized but I was essentially told that the businesses can do whatever they want and there are too many for the site to police them. Go here. Order the Sweet Potato sushi roll. Thank me later. I usually only get sushi here, though the bento boxes look good too! The edamame is always yummy, well cooked, adequately salted. My go to sushi is usually the avocado roll, cucumber roll, philly roll (salmon & cream cheese), or the aforementioned sweet potato roll. All are delicious. The sweet potato is lightly fried and then rolled up in the sushi which brings great texture and amazing flavor. Oh now I'm drooling... I agree with the previous posters who said don't come here if you're looking for a lovely restaurant with a charming atmosphere. This place is pretty bare bones but not offensive. You were my occasional sushi lunch spot until my last visit. Ive had so many lunch dates here, it was most disappointing to have room temperature/almost luke warm sashimi. A great place for consistently good sushi in Quincy/ Boston. Whenever I'm craving sushi, I go there and am always satisfied. Some favorites that you wouldn't always think to order: - off their specials menu (on the chalkboard on the wall)-- sushi pizza! it's really good. They do this cool thing where they take a pancake of rice and brown it so it's crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. And then they put spicy tuna or spicy salmon on top. Try it out!!! - any of their fancy rolls are always good Their beef tataki used to be more rare, but in recent months we've noticed that they cook it more than beef tataki usually is. My love for Fuji's is slowing dwindling down. I can't give it any rating lower then 4 because you cannot go wrong here! I know, I sound like a confused child. I've been going here for years, well maybe 3-4 years but it's totally my boyfriend and I's SUSHI SPOT. The quality that you get at the price that they have is phenoms! My go to order: avocado salad and/or seafood salad hokkai yaki Spicy Salmon Roll Volcano Roll (Boyfriend's all-time) Ika sashimi Salmon sashimi Ikura maki This is our usual order and I've always ordered Salmon rolls at any sushi restaurant as sort of my "control" roll to compare and contrast. Everything else is great ESPECIALLY the Ika sashimi, it's like butta! but lately the Spicy salmon roll has not been up to par. I mean if you're in the area, you can definitely expect to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table on the weekends because really they have like 8 tables and 4 bar seats. parking has never been an issue, it's just street but there's plenty. Today I ate out with my family, it was 5 adults and 1 kid. We reserved a table the day before for 5:00 pm, and everything went pretty smoothly. When we got seated we started to notice many customers waiting 1-2 hours for there take out orders to be ready and many of them were online order. It seemed that the owner was constantly taking orders, knowing they didn't have enough people, to take so many customers at a time. I even witnessed the owner yelling to many of the customers telling them to wait, even so it is not right to yell at your customers, but instead apologize for the delay. Many of them has stated, they ordered there takeout 2 hours even before picking up. We ended up finishing our dinner around 8:00 PM. It took around 3 hours for all our food to be served. It's one thing if the customer dined in for 3 hours, while it's another for having there customer wait 45 minute for even an appetizer to be served. There were also huge crowds lining inside the restaurant, which also led to not following CDC guidelines of social distance and the maximum capacity the restaurant is allowed to hold. Overall the experience I had today at this restaurant is absolutely disappointing, the meal wasn't amazing, and if I had to choose, I will never dine here again. read more

I'm going to join the rash of people who gave this place 1 star based on "tummy troubles" immediately following a meal at Fuji's. I eat sushi 3 to 4 times a week and have eaten everywhere from O Ya (at $100/meal) to the corner cafe (at $7/meal). I can eat cheap sushi and accept it for what it is -- cheap sushi. And, I certainly eat enough sushi during the week to know that you shouldn't get sick from it. But, I literally got sick off sushi for the first time in my life after having dinner from Fuji's tonight. Never again! Bad Fuji, Bad. P.S. Let me first say that I was very hopeful to have found my new sushi place but sadly that wasn't the case. I ordered Hokkai yaki which was a highlight, gyoza which were fried instead of steamed and tasteless, makimomo dinner was a good portion but the quality was not great. The maki themselves were a little slimy and not rolled well. They fell apart at the slightest touch and were hard to eat. The spicy tuna was spicy with no tuna just a strange consistency wrapped in rice. I did give them 2 stars because I liked the yam maki, hokkai yaki and the service was pleasant and timely. I just wish the quality was better. With all the other choices in Quincy this restaurant was definitely in the bottom half. read more

Checked in to the Fuji Restaurant with a colleague for lunch. We went with the Bento box which was priced decently for 7.95$. I was trying Sushi for the first time. I rarely go for sushi as i am not a big fan but this time i definitely wanted to re-visit and the bento box comes with basic sushi which was decent, the sauce and wasabi was not on par otherwise it would have been a perfect kick. The rest of the items were good. I got Chicken teriyaki with rice, some deep fried assorted varieties. And i forgot to mention the salad which was the best item in the lunch-box. I couldn't figure out the dressing they used for salad but it was really good. On a whole definitely worth it for the price. I am yet to try other items on their menu. read more

I've been here probably about a handful of times. I used to really like this place.... No frills, just sushi, the atmosphere has always been lackluster at best. But tonight was the last time I'll eat here. First of all, there was a strong bleach smell coming from the back. This wasn't exactly a bad thing. I mean, at least it was evident they were cleaning. It's just not the preferred odor of a dining experience. The sushi was just ok...not nearly as good as the last times I've been here. It didn't taste bad or anything, but it left a weird greasy feel in my mouth....I don't know how else to explain it. After we were done eating, I noticed that one of the sushi chef's had a baseball hat on that had really gross greasy fingerprints all over the rim. ew. The straw that broke the camel's back...was the ginger on my plate smelled like spoiled meat....seriously. Then came the stomach pains and the cruise ship horn. They have great lunch specials with reasonable prices. I normally get take out and never could decide what to get cuz it is all so good, so I end up getting two lunch specials. For dinner time, my friends and I would order up the menu with appetizers and misc entree dishes and share amongst each other. We get so much food but end up eating it all cuz it's so good. We also think our bill will be high at the end of our dinner but because their prices are so reasonable, it's always affordable. read more

Yummy, yummy, SUSHI!!! I finally found a good sushi place that's close to my new apartment. Delicious. The place is super small and easily missed from the street, but everyone is super friendly and my waitress was super attentive: I felt bad because we she had to come back to our table 3 or 4 times before we were ready to order! My water glass was also never empty. Nice. Their sushi was delicious, especially the Tekka Maki and the Tempura Maki - my favorites! I also tried the sweet potato sushi, which is another one of my favorite sushi orders. Although it came in one big sushi wrap instead of 6 cut up, bite size pieces, it was still delectable. My first taste of Red Bean ice cream was here, and although I don't think I'll EVER order that again, it's nice to know that they have dessert. This place is wayyyyyyyyyyy better than the other fuji's down the street. The bento boxes here are extremely cheap, and super fulfilling! I usually get the salmon teriyaki bento. It comes with a salad, miso soup, california roll, dumplings, veg tempura and the salmon teriyaki with rice... soo much food for about 8 dollars a bento? The sushi here isn't too bad. Its not the best sushi, but it doesn't get any better than this in Quincy. The price also isn't too bad.. usual sushi places charges around 8-9 dollars for a spicy seafood salad, at fujis they charge around 5-6 dollars. The servers here are pretty nice. I'm not into Sushi, but this place tickles my fancy. I always get Beef Teriyaki, and it is the best Beef Teriyaki I have ever had anywhere. Stay away from the Chicken Teriyaki though, it wasn't that good. Scorpion bowls are also good. I usually split one with a friend, and we'll pound through a few of those in the course of a few hours. I have also gone there on a random Tuesday night during the week, and the place was hopping. They was karaoke, and it was fun to watch. I didn't partake in any of it, but it was fun watching people make complete goofs of themselves. The staff is also very nice. I have never been annoyed with anyone who works there. I stopped by Fuji today to have a late lunch. It was about 3pm and the restaurant was not busy just a few tables with customers. So my order was taken quickly and the waitresses were very attentive. I got hot green tea with a teriyaki salmon bento box. I enjoyed everything about the bento box, even the sushi which I typically don't like. The sauces were very tasty and the portions were perfect not too much or too little of anything. I was all about the bento boxes in college. Chicken teriyaki, you own my heart. The veggie tempura that comes with it is second to none and of course you KNOW that miso soup be poppin like WHAAAT. This place is fantastic. We ended up coming here last night and getting the beef terriyaki dinner. For under $30, we each got our own miso soup, salad, bowl of rice and ice cream. The meal also included a shared plate of beef terriyaki and sashimi, both very generous portions. The beef was extremely tasty and not chewey. The sashimi was even better than the beef. It had a melt in your mouth type of feeling. Not as good as the super high end places, but the prices are more than reasonable for what you get at Fuji. Since the sushi was so good, we ended up getting a new spicy tuna roll we saw on their "specials" blackboard. It was beyond the ordinary spicy tuna roll. Instead of being wrapped in rice, it was wrapped in a thin rice paper. It also had green beans inside, which I would have never thought to put. There was plenty of tuna as well. It was totally delicious, and I loved the mixed feeling of soft tuna, spice, crunchy tempura and green beans in my mouth. Yummers! read more

First, for some appetizers: we had ordered the Agadashi Tofu and the Tako-Su. The Tako-Su is just some slices of octopus seasoned in some vinegar. It tasted okay, kinda sour, because mainly of the vinegar. The Agadashi Tofu tasted good though. It was my first time having it and it makes me want to try it at some other places now too just to compare. It is basically fried tofu in some light broth. Even though we had ordered that first, it was the last thing to come out. We thought they had forgot, but I guess they were just either too busy in the kitchen or it really took a while to make. Either way, it was worth the wait, in my opinion. At least it came out piping hot. Here's a word of warning to you: before you decide to pop the tofu in your mouth, make sure to let them cool down a bit first cause that was my mistake and I almost burned my mouth and tongue as a result. Of course, since this is a sushi restaurant, we had to order a few pieces of sashimi as well, which included sake (salmon), toro (fatty tuna), and hamachi (yellowtail)?? Sashimi came out 3 pieces for each type of fish and the pieces were cut pretty big too so that was a plus; more bang for your buck. After eating the appetizers, sushi, and the miso soup and salad that came with our main meals, I was getting pretty full already and our entrees haven't even come out yet! Now for our main meals, we had ordered the Chirashi, which is just some assorted raw fish over a bed of seasoned rice, so pretty much "sashimi on rice." Like the sashimi, the slices of fish that came with it were huge, so this dish was more than filling for me. Eating this dish with some soy sauce and wasabi added into it made me licking my chops and wanting some more at the end... only if I wasn't so full already. Mmm nom nom nom! Overall, I would say this is a pretty good place. Good food, good service. I can't think of anything that I would complain about. I've been coming here for years, and I feel like I have to reiterate my 5-star rating after all these bad reviews. I think I know what the stomach issues are about: It's not the sushi, it's the salad dressing. If you get a bento box or any dinner it comes with delicious miso soup and a side of salad. The dressing, while tasty, is OUTRAGEOUSLY garlicky. I mean, it's powerful. Just don't touch it! You will stink, and your stomach will squirm later. I am updating my review from a 3 star to now a 4 star only because the last time i was here, after posting my previous comment, i did notice the changes in the customer service and how before, the waitresses would just snatch your plates away when you weren't even done with them but now, they calmly take their time to ask you if you are done and such. Went there on a Monday afternoon recently. It was fairly busy and we were seated immediately. We ordered three different rolls and edamame. The rolls took almost 20 min to arrive and when they did we soon realized that they were not what we ordered. We decided to eat them rather than wait another 20 min while everyone around us was being served well after we arrived. The waitress did apologize for taking so long. The sushi was ok and not very interesting which is exactly why we didn't order boring to begin with. All the rolls had tempura shrimp in them and you could taste the grease. This is my go to restaurant for sushi. The price is good, food comes out fast, but the place is small, so there could be a wait, but usually not. They also deliver pretty fast too. It does get pretty cold in there because of the door continuously being opened, when the weathers not nice out. It's a cool restaurant that's part of the Fuji chain. The sushi is nicely prepared and presented. The setting is quite casual in this small restaurant. The view and furniture was average, but the food made up for it. Minus one star due to safety concerns regarding the collapsed roof incident: "The roof and facade of a building collapsed in Quincy early Monday morning, sending stones, bricks and glass onto the sidewalk. From the outside it looks like a little mom and pop joint but the staff is fast, friendly and the price is great. The portions are the largest I have found and the fish is always fresh and tasty. I have never ordered a roll I didn't like. This is our favorite sushi joint, very casual. If you are new to sushi, talk to the staff, they will help you and they are very honest, they know what they are talking about and you can trust them, they aren't just going to tell you to order the most expensive roll. We went here since we couldn't get a seat at the new dim sum place down the street. That said, my fiancee had been here before, so she knew what was good. Since this was lunch, I ordered the fuji salad and the unagi bento. My fiancee ordered the seaweed salad, and eel avocado roll (her go-to) and the chicken teriyaki bento. Her dad ordered a salmon sashimi and chicken teriyaki bento. Overall, the food was pretty good. The seaweed salad, eel-avo roll, and salmon sashimi all met my sushi standards and I didn't really have any problem with any part of the bento either. The bento boxes came with a simple soup, a salad the sweet dressing, some deep fried stuff (gyoza, shumai, sweet potato tempura, and broccoli tempura), and a few pieces of california rolls. There were two things that I had a gripe with. The first was that my order was completely forgotten; I had to remind the waitress that I was waiting for my food. There was little in the way of apology too. The waitress just came back to tell me that my food would be arriving soon and she would fill my water while I waited. The second was how the fuji salad was presented. It was essentially the seaweed salad, but on lettuce, and with two imitation crab sticks put on the side. The crab sticks didn't really seem integrated into the dish, just kind of put to the side as a garnish. It would've been better if the stick had been separated into strands and mixed with the seaweed. That said, the food didn't taste bad. This place offers excellent bang for your buck. The sushi is always fresh, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is good. They really get to know regulars and offer a personal experience. The woman who is usually the hostess (maybe an owner/part owner?) is incredibly friendly. The duck and sweet potato rolls are really good, as is the Naruto as an app. My only complaints would be that there are rarely new additions to the menu; even the specials are usually the same. And sometimes the service is a little too good, as multiple members of the staff will take their turn asking if you're ready to order, even when it's only been a few minutes. Hands down, though, this Fuji is definitely better than the Fuji in Quincy Center. I highly recommend for a great deal and great sushi. read more
