    Teriyaki Chicken
    James A.

DAAAANG! It's SO nice to have a place close by that serves great teriyaki. I've been here a few times now and the quality of the food has been 100% consistently very, very good. And most importantly, the cuts of meat they use for their dishes are top notch! I usually go with either the teriyaki chicken or chicken & steak. I've never been disappointed. Why the 4-stars then, you ask? Well, what has also been 100% consistent here, is the less than friendly staff who work the counter. It continually changes, which is not a good sign. The person working the counter today got way too flustered by an order mistake, and even the customer (who was not being difficult) told her to calm down. Following this occurrence, the counter person had a bit of an attitude. Sheesh! Is this gonna stop me from patronizing this place in the future? No. But it sure would be nice to come in here and be served by some happy, friendly faces... for ONCE! ANYways... Go here.

ORDERS: - BBQ Eel Bowl - Tokyo Steak & Veggie Bowl - Volcano Roll - Chicken, Steak, + Tempura Bowl - Green Tea All the bowls were delicious and filled! Quality meats and flavor! I really like their steak and eel. The chicken could have used more flavor but overall cooked well. The volcano roll was my fav cause it's baked scallops and they were fresh. Quick service, friendly staff.

Placed a phone order, customer service was good and the staff were nice. Grabbed sauces to go. Food was yummy and the price was good with a decent amount of food. I got the chicken lunch box plate substituted rice for all veggies for .50 more. $11.49

I tried their salmon bowl with rice and imitation crab. The food itself was fine as it had flavors you'd expect from the fish and crab, but nothing more. The service was alright and the price was expensive for what was a small bowl of food with thinly sliced salmon. The interior was old and there was no restroom, so I wouldn't recommend dining inside.

The interior is fairly standard, but it's always clean, which is nice.

Fuji Grill never disappoints. I love their chicken balls and the price is extremely fair. The chicken is always perfectly cooked and the rice is always cooked perfectly. The employees are always happy to help with any additional items that I may need. I come here at least a few times a week so I hope thank you so much appreciate it. Thank you. The ambience of the restaurant is fairly straightforward. Nothing to flashing. I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody and get the chicken bowl

    Volcano Roll - Baked Scallops
    Tommy L.

For as long as I can remember--even back when I was a waiter in the '80s at Coco's--I've loved baked scallops. I used to eat them all the time on my breaks, and that love never faded. Now, every time I go to a sushi spot, I always order a scallop roll. And as weird as this may sound, out of all the sushi places I've been to, Fuji Grill has one of the best baked scallops--even better than some high-end sushi restaurants! The Volcano Roll is a baked scallop roll loaded with tender, buttery scallops mixed with imitation crab, layered over a bed of sushi rice, and topped with vibrant orange tobiko. It's slightly torched for that perfect caramelized finish, adding a subtle smokiness that enhances the richness of the seafood. It comes with a side of soy sauce and I always get the spicy mayo sauce to complete the experience. Fuji Grill itself is a no-frills spot--your typical quick-service sushi joint, usually staffed by a high schooler working the counter. But what matters is the food, and this roll delivers. Whether you dine in or order ahead, they serve it up fresh and fast. If you're anywhere near a Fuji Grill, do yourself a favor and order the baked scallops. Highly recommended!

    Crunch Roll & Miso Soup

I was feeling under the weather and the crunch roll and miso soup made me feel a little better. Comfort food is a must when trying not to catch a cold! My boyfriend picked this up for me and he said the service was quick. The ambiance was very quiet. He said there wasn't a long line.

Food was great! I'd say even better than the one located in Anaheim off of La Palma.... But man the customer service SUCKS!!!!! Which is why this review is receiving 2 stars.... When my family and I walked up to order our food, we were not greeted by the cashier, I actually HAD to speak to her TWICE before even being acknowledged to take our order.... She act like she didn't want to be there and was bothered she had to work... All in all, I would definitely return as long as that cashier is not taking orders, if you don't like your job find a new one, but don't ruin others experience with your lack of customer service skills

Very rude Employee, doesn't care for the customer.

I can understand how business owners, managers, servers, and customers are all caught within the vicious fluctuations of markets and so on. However, what I was recently served at Kaizen Shabu last week was, to my mind, an egregious example of a restaurant offering well below the bare minimum of what should be expected for the prices listed (and my photos will show this, I believe). At the outset, I want to say I have no grievances with the servers. Our server was kind, attentive, and was elegantly multitasking. Bravo. Now, the food: we ordered the salmon "sashimi" plate, and what we were handed was a platter of the thinnest, grainiest, obviously-thawed and poorly sliced salmon I've ever eaten in my life. I was a bit shocked. At Cal Shabu Shabu (and other shabu places I tend to frequent more often), sashimi is... sashimi. It *looks* like sashimi because it IS sashimi: a piece of salmon purchased by the restaurant and knife-cut into appropriate portions depending on what portion size the customer has ordered. It is sashimi that gleans in the light, where the striations of fat and tissue are visible to the naked eye on the fish itself. As you can see from my photos, we were served paper-thin salmon that I could barely peel off of the plate with my chopsticks without ripping the fish into smaller, grainier pieces. It was all but inedible, in my opinion. This is not sashimi, and to serve such a thing for the price listed is beyond atrocious: it is an outright deception. Now, onto the side of veggies and noodles that come with every order of meat or fish. Perhaps the cooks could not be bothered, but what I received was broken tendrils of 2-inch udon haphazardly thrown into a bowl. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the chefs, with a dwindling supply of food nearer the end of the night, or if this restaurant truly does not care about the quality of what they are serving customers. Again, I think my pictures speak for themselves. I used to love coming here as the atmosphere was chic, and the servers are so kind. After my last dining experience, however, I cannot justify the price of my bill in the face of the quality of the food I am being served. I won't be returning, sadly. I hope the manager has an opportunity to look at these photos and perhaps reassess what can be done to improve what they are serving their customers.

Interior is quite the Japanese vibes, it's not very spacious but spacious at the same time? We were seated near the counter and next to us were a table of two basically right beside me. Staff here is very efficient. They're quick and attentive. Orders were taken quickly and food came out in moderate speed. Around 20 minutes or so which is a bit slow but I heard that they take their time preparing the food, hence the higher quality. I'd say it's worth the wait for sure after trying our menu items. My wife ordered the Inaka Hot Soba and I ordered the Beef Curry. Both are presented very beautifully. We also got a Crunchy Sushi Roll to share which was super delicious and a perfect appetizer before the main entrees. The Inaka Hot Soba was very delicious, it's similar to a mazesoba mix + bibimbap which both are one of my favorite dishes. Soba noodles were not tough at all and very savory. Many flavors mixed all in one bowl was the perfect dish overall. The beef curry was absolutely delicious as well. Filled with curry flavoring on the beef, it was not super overwhelming and it was very fulfilling overall. Absolutely love the portions as well. Overall, a amazing spot in Tustin that's lowkey hidden. Food is high quality and definitely made with care. Staff is fast and professional. The curry was aromatic and came as a silky, soup-like consistency that coated each udon noodle nicely. It had a deep umami flavor. The udon was the ideal texture - thick and chewy. As for the beef, it was very tender. We shared a crunchy roll on the side. It was cut into 8 pieces. Every piece was super crispy and delicious. The main flavor came from the eel sauce, so it tasted very sweet and savory.

It manages to feel relaxed and inviting while still being nice enough to feel like you're actually going out. The ambience is probably one of my favorite things about Gokumi. It's a relatively small space, but they've done an awesome job with it. It has a cozy, intimate atmosphere and a great vibe, especially at night. The service has also been consistently excellent. Everyone I've interacted with has been efficient, friendly, kind, and courteous. Even when they're busy, I've always felt taken care of, and the staff genuinely adds to the experience rather than just serving the food. And obviously, the ramen is the reason I keep coming back. The quality is easily among the best I've had in OC, yet the prices are surprisingly reasonable for how nice the restaurant feels and the quality of food they're putting out. Gokumi somehow hits that sweet spot of great food, great atmosphere, great service, and good value without feeling pretentious. Whether I want a comfortable bowl of ramen after the gym, drinks and food with friends, or somewhere casual but still nice enough for a date, this has become one of my favorite spots in OC.

However, something has really changed in the last few months for the worst. The last two times we've ordered take out, there have been huge delays and quality issues. Last night was the final straw. Apparently the owner has instructed the chefs to exclusively prioritize in person diners and ignore the tickets for to go food. We also all got texts saying our order was ready - when it hadn't even been made yet. We waited well over an hour after getting the "food is ready" text and arriving. Even after we asked multiple times about our order, the chefs just didn't make it. They were clearly focused on the in person diners only, per the owner's instructions. The poor wait staff were very kind and trying to help, but ultimately their hands were tied. I'm not sure if it is because of this new AYCE concept or if they have new management...but this problem needs to be addressed. Not to mention, the quality of the rolls has also seemingly gone down.
