This restaurant was awesome! Went here for a date night after finding it on yelp (traveling through town) and we were VERY satisfied! Everything about this restaurant made me so happy. IMMEDIATELY after being sat, our server greeted us with bread and sauce. This was incredible, and free! I ordered a firehouse seasonal draft, which was amazing, and my date had a tasty martini. Our server was ROBERT. Ask for him, he is awesome! The appetizer we had was like a portobello artichoke salad, and the flavors were insanely awesome. Then we both had two nice pasta dishes, and the crime brûlée cheesecake. The restaurant is also nicely decorated and has a fun vibe. We were very impressed with the quality of food, drinks, and service. The menu also has lower priced options as well as higher priced fares to accommodate to everyone's wallet. Came in for a late lunch with my girlfriends and was greeted and seated immediately. Ordered some drinks, and the fries for an appitizer. Drinks were delicious, and well presented, and the fries were hot and tasty. Both aioli's were fabulous. We ordered our entrees and waited quite some time before they came out. I ordered the bistro steak salad. Steak was good, salad was decent. The prices are pretty typical. Our server was very sweet and took great care of us. My only complaint is the wait time for even simple dishes is pretty long, considering that the lunch rush was over so it was pretty dead. Little bit of a late review.... Was invited for a midday drink with my buddy who owns his own shop across the way. Had a new Spiked Apple Cider Beer and it was quite refreshing with a crisp and robust taste. Forget what its called, but I would seriously have it again. Upon the recommendation of both the bartender who happened to b the manager on duty and my lunch mate we had some fried brussel sprouts for a appetizer. Keep in my mind I have never had them because well growing up as a kid you learn to hate them lol. But these were amazing! During that time, there was literally no staff anywhere to be seen, even though there were numerous patrons around the restaurant and at the bar. I received the order which had about 1/4 plastic container of dressing. I called the restaurant asking why I didn't receive extra dressing, and was told that they don't offer extra dressing. The bottle of DAOU wine just added to a delicious meal. The white chocolate blueberry cheese cake is so delicious it's worth breaking the diet. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night. I would love to be able to give these guys more stars but I just can't because of the service. The food here is consistently good. I've never had a bad meal. The drinks are great as well. It's just the fact that service is hit or miss. Last night it took 17 minutes from the time we ordered drinks to the time they were delivered. I do not know why people don't like this place. I thought the decor was beautiful and the service was great. My co-worker and I walked in and were blown away! Then! I asked for a lemonade from the bar and whoever the bartender was did it very well! He didn't even add sugar! It was just good on its own. Kind of sour but not too much :) I should have asked for more but I was caught up in the conversation. I ordered the Mediterannean (spelling?) salad with an addition of meat. The meat was not that tender but it was still good! Mix that with my bomb@$$ salad with the salty olives and a very good sweet vinaigrette over the greens. YUM! Just yum! My co-worker got the chipotle chicken w/ pasta and man, I wish I had ordered that! Chicken was tender. Sauce was not overbearing. Pasta was cooked right. And hey, my co-worker lives in the Italian district of SF so she has had her share of the good restaurants. And LOTS of portions! I would go here again and again :) read more

Lunched here today. Upscale spot in Downtown. Despite no door greeter, quick recovery with quick seating and friendly, quick service. Assortment of breads with a dipping sauce showed up right behind drinks. Ordered the avacado, bacon and turkey sandwich served on a fresh, tasty croissant. Correct level soft rock playing away in the background, very pleasant atmosphere, could see a nice dinner happening here as well. Selection of 7 lunch specials at $8, something for everyone even if you don't select from the extensive main menu. They do have a kids menu and kids would be ok, but this is not geared to be a family restuarant. Tons of awards on wall near door, so tjis place is not a secret. Recommended! read more

Went for dinner, had a party of 4, seated right away, great. However did not get offered water or menu for five minutes. Okay it was busy so no big deal. However the waitress was very inattentive and looked bothered at our asking questions about the menu as we had never dined there before. We made our drink and food selections. Drinks where brought out wrong. The pre dinner salad was brought to everyone when some ordered soup, and she said "well then I guess that one is on the house". When the dinner salads came out, our entrees came out as well with no time to even look at the salads. I just asked her to package mine up so I could take it home. Food was cold, home made pasta which she raved about, was clumped on the plate with dry sauce and where not appetizing. When asking for a take home box or for another drink , waitress would say okay ill be right back and not come back. But walk around the wall to the bar area and say "I'm so over it, very, very loud" while the bartender was singing as if she was auditioning for American Idol.. I don't know if our waitress was referring to my party, or the night she was having, or what. We had also asked for another drink from the bar which we never where served, and when that was addressed she stated well the bar closes at 9, our 2nd drink was requested when our dinner was served at 8:30 she could have sad something. We did mention, at the end of our meal, that the pasta was not that great and that or food came out at one time, cold; and she said " I know right, people say that all the time, that they don't care for the pasta". WELL HELLO YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE OUR GUIDE!! She brought one take home box to our table when it was obvious we needed three and had to be asked for the check 3 times. By the time we left the restaurant we where "over it". If I ever do go back it wont be to eat, and if it is Ill opt for the Visalia or Tulare location. read more

We have a group who comes to Fugazzis every year in April for dinner. I had a reservation for 12, but we had 13 when we arrived. We were shown to our table immediately and the 13th person was effortlessly seated. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. Our service was attentive and gracious, but never intrusive. The restaurant was very busy as it was Friday night. We did not notice any delay from the kitchen and our meals were promptly brought to our table. This is why we've returned to Fugazzis year after year. Good food, excellent service and outstanding hospitality. We'll be back next year!! read more

Four of us went for lunch for my birthday. We spent a lot of money so I need to comment. The server was fine but I told him twice the carbonara was way too spicy and he never offered to take back. I didn't insist. But this dish isn't meant to be spicy and it was also too spicy at the Cypress location last time. It should indicate "spice carbonara" if so. The other dishes were ok. This is review is for the Porterville location, it's here because I hope management see this and dose something about the poor customer service there. Went there for dinner with some friends and family. I ordered the ribeye and asked to have my mashed potatoes substitute for a baked potato. When my food came out it had mashed potatoes and was delivered to one of my friends. A couple of minutes later the waitress came out and said the stake in front of my friend was mine and just took it from him and gave it to me. Then I had to wait for the baked potato, by this time my stake had already been out in the dining room for like 10 min. When my potato finally came out the waitress again forgot to bring the cheese, onion, bacon and sour cream for my potato. Needless to say that by this time my steak was cold. The potato was also not substituted for my mashed potatoes and was charged full price for it. A manager never came to see how things were and the poor customer service is the main reason I won't be back. I paid for my food nevertheless which they had the audacity to put a 20% gratuity on there because there was so many of us. I would of been better off going to Applebee's! I have enjoyed this restaurant for a long time. The menus is good, the food is good, and the service is good. I went there this past Saturday night with my mother, son, and his wife. the place was very busy. It is good to see that. My big complaint is that the noise level was through the roof. People were happy, which is good. But, we could barely hear ourselves. Four women at a table next to us were deep into their wine and were screaming. A couple of these charmer kept standing a yelling out. The restaurant has hard surfaces and high ceiling. The noise just bounces around. People have to talk loud, which causes other people to talk louder. A good vibe is nice, but the place needs some noise reduction fixtures and wall covering. The four cows next to us were about as inconsiderate as they come, which did not help. So, it is good food and a nice place, and I have enjoyed it from day one. But, last night may have been a deal breaker. Not the place for a relaxing evening of good food and conversation. I am glad for their success. I want to continue being a customer, but I recommend that the owner spend some money make the dining experience more enjoyable. There will always be drunken tables of four that need to be reminded that they are not in a bowling alley. read more

"There is a restaurant and bar there call Fugazzis's that is really nice, and reminds us of Napa Valley that we like. So we went there again. We had tried some great appetizers and had beer. It was close to their closing time and some loud mouth waitress (we heard earlier) started vacuuming the carpets. The older couple next to us asked her to stop naturally......well this waitress refused! The woman asked her nicely and she actually started yelling at the lady. lol It was crazy. Everyone at the bar walked out. One couple left their drinks. The lady just happened to know the owner and told the waitress she was going to talk to him about this incident and the waitress just goes "go ahead"!! What is this world coming to? We were not a bunch of kids getting drunk at the bar. It was all middle aged people, spending a lot of money on food and drinks. Everyone was drinking mixed drinks around us. Unfortunately, I must amend my former 5 star review of this place based on my experience last night dining here. The reason being that there was a 15% discount offer on Yelp for dining at Fuggazzis. However, according to the manager, she said that it was just for my order and not my husband's. To make matters worse, she took only $1.00 off the entire $109 check. Her explanation was that I ordered the appetizer (fish tacos) for my meal, and it was, therefore, the only dish that qualified for the offer. The problem with that is I ordered 2 different appetizers for my meal, while my husband ordered the prime rib dinner. The manager didn't bother to ask me what my order was. She just assumed it was the one appetizer. To me, that is just false advertisement. If 15% is too much of a discount, then why not offer 10%, 5%, or nothing at all. As far as the food, servers, and ambience...it still is very good. They just need to communicate their internet offer a lot better. read more

First Come, Second Served... I used to like this restaurant. I've been coming here for several years when I am in town for business. Service used to be real good. The last two times I've been here, I would be waiting for a table and the host ends up seating the persons that arrived after me. I excused it the first time due to maybe an oversight, but twice, you've got to be kidding me. I know the women that arrived after me but were seated before me were more attractive than me but come on! The second time it happened, I just walked out...for the last time. I've been to this Restaurant a few times over the years, since I live in Visalia. I keep hoping the service has improved, but sadly it has not. I've never even had mediocre service in the sit down restaurant. Was just there a few weeks ago because a friend wanted to meet for a drink (I would've chosen someplace else) I stood at the door for 7 minutes without being acknowledge, then decided to seat myself in the lounge in the back, since we we're just going to having cocktails. After 20 minutes of wait staff running around, but not actually doing anything, the bartender finally came over and took our order. Pretty much my typical experience at this establishment. The food is average fare, nothing spectacular. The garlic shrimp pizza we had was very tasty and a good size to split for a light dinner. You'd be better off going to one of their take out places if you really want their food....it's the same exact food and you don't have to die of thirst while your waiter/waitress does whatever it is they do.....(they're certainly not serving customers) read more

3.75 stars Cool spot......for Visalia, CA. Love the bar, eating area and interestingly placed lounge. Took my momma out for dinner and she loved her grilled salmon. I tried the "Jambalaya" pasta and Lil Sis had the Apple/Pecan Salad. For the price, I was very impressed. You don't have very many choices out here so everything was pretty good. A little too standard for my taste but if my Mom is happy, I am happy. :) I also wanted to mention the cocktails we tried. My Mojito wasn't the best. I stepped into Fugazzis and immediately noted the semi-corporate and generic "modern bistro" decor. We were exhausted after a long day and wanted a respite from the hot weather so we stuck with it as it seemed to have a fair amount of vegetarian options for my dining companion. We opted to split the Mediterranean salad and the fresh tomato basil and garlic pizza with a glasses of white wine. My Pinot Grigio was generously poured in heavy, coarse stemware but was cold, crisp, and refreshing. The pizza was a bit of a letdown with its thick, doughy crust (I had been hoping for a thinner Italian style crust), heavy coating of greasy cheese, and mealy tomatoes. The salad was nothing to write home about but wasn't offensive either. Our waitperson was friendly and brought extra plates as requested. Literally the worst service I've ever gotten!!! Food was good was not even warm though! Took prob 45 mins to Receive our dinner. Went to pay with a gift card given to us as a birthday present and they wouldn't accept the card. Saying it was no good when this was our first time being here. Paid for our dinner and left saying they'd call the next day telling us what's the deal with our gift card. No call.... I called them and they told me that it was no good and we have to prove that the card was good! When it was a gift.
