I love fuel America, it's my favorite coffee shop in Worcester. I prefer the Grove Street location. The vibe is very chill, and they always have great music on in the background. Varied seating - high tops, low tops, soft chairs, bar seating. The cafe menu has so many healthy options to choose from and I've never had something I didn't enjoy. Coffee is great as well. One of the few coffee shops in Worcester I feel comfortable camping out with my laptop for an hour or so. read more

I am a big fan of Acai and out of all the places that I've been too, this place has the best one. The base isn't too watery or tastes frozen. The fruits and a drizzle of honey makes it really good. We ordered from Fuel yesterday morning after returning home from a night shift. As usual, we were essentially ordering dinner at 9am. There's something about cranking out endless hospital admissions that makes me crave bready and cheesy and we're usually jonesing for pizza as our post work binge. Fortunately, Fuel America is kind enough to offer pizza at 9am during the week. We ordered a large cheese pizza. It was large so I will definitely give them a check in the size department. I also enjoyed their unusual interpretation of the shape of a circle, see my photo for details. The crust was RAZOR thin with very poor integrity. Folding the slice in half did not provide the support required against gravity and the tip of the slice was perpendicular, rather than the ideal-for-consumption parallel to the ground when held by the crust alone. When considering flavor alone, I would say "EH" which corresponds to a score of about 6/10 in my rating system. Noteworthy to mention, when I reheated it in the oven approx 40 hours later, I was expecting a sogfest. Despite the thinness of the crust, it did not absorb ANY grease and it was not IN THE LEAST bit soggy. Very pleasantly surprised. I wanted to top off my bready and cheesy with sweet and fruity and ordered one of their many varieties of intriguing acai bowls. They have a pina colada crush which immediately caught my eye with coconut sorbet, granola, pineapple, bananas, and coconut flakes. Ultimately I wanted to reap whatever health benefits everyone rubs off to acai about and I ordered the Aussie Bowl with acai sorbet, bananas, kiwi, pineapple, chia seeds, and coconut flakes. In retrospect, I didn't realize it was acai SORBET which changes the nutrition value a bit. The bowl was really delicious. Instead of a weak excuse for toppings, this bowl was absolutely packed with toppings. They put on essentially half of a banana, probably half of a kiwi, and a bunch of pineapple. One of the better acai bowls I've had in the area. Tina is a sandwich bitch and added an order of the West Coast sandwich with brie, spring mix with fig and pesto on multigrain ciabatta. I helped her out with this one and while she was disappointed by the few ingredients, I thought this was a nice and flavorful sandwich. The fig spread overpowered the brie a bit and I wish there was more of a representation of that flavor but over all, I would say a very solid sandwich. read more

I wasn't too sure what to get but i remembered on the website. There was a video of a customer mentioning how the acai bowls were good after a workout. So i decided to try it. Right away I was happy about the presentation. Good amount of fresh fruit sliced up carefully on top. Then the sweet frozen smoothie underneath with granola. I made sure to blend it in well. Great atmosphere, bustling yet fun and efficient, great light menu for anytime of day, and of course, the whole coffee bar experience. I've been here many times and each time the seating area has been reinvented. The first time I was slightly annoyed, but now I can appreciate how it keeps things fresh and probably discourages those who work on their laptops from becoming just a "little too comfortable" and hogging up regular space. Lamest breakfast sandwich ever. We did not realize they would be on barely toasted bread.

Server / cashier was confused to start and kept telling us wrong order back, ordered 2 iced lattes with flavor and oat milk, and got back basically two iced black coffees even though the label was correct - did not look or taste as expected at all. If that is your thing, it's fine but these were NOT iced lattes by any standard, the flavoring asked for was non-existent and they were almost 30$ for that and a water. Sometimes I will drink black coffee, and even buy that standard it was trash because they put maybe a drop or less or oat milk/milk. Not worth going there or the headache of having them re-make it when it was that far off what it should have been - if you're a fan of any special type of coffee or artisan style coffee (basically anything other than plain black) I would guess you want to avoid this place. I tried both the dirty chai (tea with expresso) and the hot chocolate. Both were merely okay, not special. The chai was better however as it had an extra coffee kick to kickstart the morning. The bacon, egg and cheese of ciabatta bun was quite nice and worth every cent. The customer service was great too. I initially wanted my sandwich on a croissant instead of the recommended bagel, but when he explained the issue (buttery and likely soggy bread) and the better option of ciabatta bread, it was a great choice. Conveniently located across from a couple of hotels, this coffee spot is perfect for grabbing a cup of joe. The restaurant is very modern with a sleek, warehouse feel and lots of stainless steel. There was plenty of space for larger groups to meet as a family or for doing work. Make sure to check out the sidewall which has a row of comfy couches built-in. The service was fast, pleasant, and helpful. I had a cold brew which hit my caffeine need well. For breakfast, I ordered the avocado toast and much enjoyed it. Mixed feelings ! I have been in Worcester forever and I gotta say it's nice to see a new coffee place that's serious about coffee pop up in the new downtown development. I've been a few times and I gotta say it's a far cry from the old Java hut and the coffee kingdom ( showing my age if you remember those spots) but a little different than the newer brew on the grid across the common. I liked the food options a lot better here versus the former- seemed a little bit better thought out. The space is enormous so when things go back to normal I can see this place filling up with students but not many else than the people intended to occupy the new apartments close by. Not in a zillion years have people gone downtown to just hang out - not since they demolished the common outlet and downtown has been in much need of actual revival not just some shiny new construction. I digress. The cold brew was great and the lattes were frothy but didn't have the stronger espresso taste I was looking for. Cappuccino next time. The egg sandwiches were made to order but they use a frozen egg so I opted I'm out for just veggies. They also have nice selection of juices and sparkling water. Stopped here twice. First time got a hot coffee. Came out warm not hot and very mediocre at best. Second time asked for decaffeinated which they don't have. Thought this was a coffee place. Ended up with what they call an Americano. Typically an Americano is bright tasting this was not. I did not see my cup being made but it tasted like freeze dried coffee. That being said there won't be a third visit. Do yourself a favor go elsewhere. read more

Come here to see how your coffee is made. You can see through the glass windows of the overhead door next to the counter how the roasters work. It makes me feel good to see how clean and spacious everything is in the manufacturing area. They serve food, pastries, and smoothies too! I was there for a private party. If I wanted to spend $8 for a $0.50 bagel, I would have purchased it at the grocery store. Don't go here for the breakfast sandwiches. The quality is that of grocery store brand bread. My understanding is that if you're going to pay that much, businesses at least provide a quality bread product. The coffee was also awful. It tasted burned and watery and not cheap. Go somewhere else if you care about what your food and beverage tastes like. I gave them two stars because the service people were very friendly and patient. Great place to get some work done. Love the layout and overall vibe, chill and spacious with friendly staff and strong coffee. The baked good section left me desiring a little more variety (prettt much limited to two kinds of muffins, two kinds of cookies, and corn bread), but the coffee was good in my opinion. Also liked having the option of ordering wine or beer if the moment strikes. Another minor criticism I'll provide is that I'm pretty sure they forgot about my order after I didn't hear anything about 5-10min after ordering. I think the staff was training someone new and it must have fallen through the cracks even though the place was pretty empty. That being said, I still enjoyed my coffee and got some work done so I call that a win! read more

What a relaxing, quiet coffee shop. I love the vibe and selection of fresh teas and coffee. I enjoyed the fact that they decorated for Halloween. The staff is very knowledgeable when it came to tea. The coffee isn't going to amaze anyone who's spent time in a bigger city, or even Providence, Portland, or Burlington. It is however better than most places in Worcester, and fairly consistent. The space is huge so you'll almost never have to worry about finding a seat. The food is fine, but not a reason to come here on its own. The sandwiches are fairly small, but are all under $10. The bread is so-so quality, but they have a pretty wide range of filling options. It's significantly better than Starbucks, but doesn't quite stand up to a dedicated sandwich shop. read more

As a coffee snob who roasts his own I wasn't expecting a lot from the Americano I ordered but they clearly know how to pull a shot. It was delectable. So smooth. So brightly flavorful. I went to Fuel for the first time a little over a week ago and I was prepared to rave about their impressive fresh juices - until tonight. It's a commodity that not many places take the effort to make and to make properly. I made a special trip to Fuel for juice (a seemingly standard menu item as they're prominently featured on the menu) only to be told that the juice machine had already been dismantled for the night (at 6:30 p.m.) and there was no more juice for the day. Even worse was the explanation for the failure to make a standard menu item during normal business hours - the person helping me explained that her manager was frustrated that workers were leaving to late at night due to having to breakdown and clean out the juice machine and "labor costs were going through the roof." So staff has been instructed, at whatever random time the manager on duty deems appropriate, to stop making juice to clean the machine so staff can go home earlier and, seemingly, save the business money. Mind you, I was prepared to pay $8 per juice!!! I want to give this place a break as they're so new to the area but this is such a catastrophic failure across the board. At the very least, teach your staff common customer service. If you're going to be selling $8 juice, be prepare to ACTUALLY SELL IT at customer request. After this experience, I have zero interest in returning, which is just sad. Instead, I'll take the time to make the trip to Oxford to Isadors - they've NEVER turned me away because they've chosen to clean the juicer during normal business hours because it's more convenient for the manager. This cost savings attempt just lost Fuel a potentially very loyal customer. Shame on you. read more

The pastries (I didn't have any) are about 2x the size of your average cinnamon bun, brownie etc. If you're looking for mega calories on a budget, here you go. Gorgeous, spacious interior. This is the 2nd time I went to Fuel America and ordered a Peanut butter blast Acai. The 1st time there was no peanut butter in it. So of course I mentioned that the 2nd time please make sure you add peanut butter. I was disappointed to find not even a teaspoon of peanut butter in the peanut butter Blast Acai. For $14.98. I will not be going back. I think they add peanut butter granola and that's considered the blast. The servise was good and servers were friendly. So I appreciate that. read more
