Nice cozy little used bookstore and cafe. I did some browsing here while waiting for the cafe staff to come back, and ended up picking up a book. I would have gotten a drink, but I wanted to try the matcha place close to here, so ended up just trying a carrot cake bite. I guess I was expecting a sweet snack, but it was a little more on the healthy/granola-y side of things and came out of the fridge. Not bad--just not what I expected! They also have some interesting chocolate bars I was eyeing (I think I saw one with apple and cheddar). Would definitely come back. read more

Came in for the books, left with smoothie. Great little shop includes all sorts of used books from antiques marbled books to newer books and a great mix of anything that you could possibly want. From my perspective I perused the books but was more interested and purchased some of the oddities that filled in the gaps for the buying options, vintage cut out card stock dolls posters and maps. The book selection is really well-curated, I ended up browsing way longer than I planned and walked out with two books I didn't know I needed. Probably one of the best used bookstores I have been to in the Worcester County area! They have a large selection of books for most genres. If you are looking for the most popular, new releases, this isn't the place for you. They have a few new books displayed out towards the entrance, but not much. I tend to gravitate towards the "older" books, so I enjoy looking through the bookshelves for some gems. As for the cafe inside of the book, there a few tables and a sofa for you to sit, drink coffee and read. I got one of their special drinks (don't remember the name but it was a chai latte with espresso and other stuff added in lol) I do remember it being absolutely divine of a drink. I would go back and try the other drinks, but I'm mostly there for the books. read more

Wonderful place and well worth a visit if you like interesting indie bookstores and desire a pleasant experience. The store offers a very nicely curated collection of books.Great welcoming and relaxing vibe.The owners are friendly,knowledgeable and eager to hear about your book interests. You can tell they really love their bookstore. The venue offers cozy seating in a atmosphere with a cafe to serve coffees, tea and smoothies. The owner is heinously unpleasant. Ruined the entire experience from the moment we walked through the door. Pictures on the website make it look much bigger than it is. The book store had such a nice vibe to it. The people working there were really kind, and there even was a book master who'd be able to help you with finding the perfect book. The prices were pretty good, I was able to buy a nice hardcover for $11. There was also really good organization of the different genres and a wide array of books -- great selection. I typically came here to do work. My only critique was the drinks weren't the best price nor were they the tastiest. I ordered loose leaf tea which was good, but $4 which is more than I've paid for good loose leaf tea. Then another day I ordered a chai latte, I don't think there was enough tea in it and it lacked a lot of flavor. Also if you drink non-dairy milks, they mainly use soy milk here. read more

Cute little shop in a very pretty refurbished factory building. True coffee snobs may not find the coffee quite up to par but we enjoyed our drinks enough and appreciated the ambience as a whole, and we came home with several great books! read more

Very cute, cozy environment. We sat at the café and got the Energy Balls, and Pumpkin Pie smoothies. We were chatting with our very kind server, Mel, at the counter, over our smoothies. Very nice staff, great drinks, 10/10 would visit again, the building is great with the Seed to Stem Plant and Crystal Boutique, Crompton Collective Antique shop, and so many other great places in the area. Great atmosphere and the Wi-Fi is strong if you're planning to work from the cafe. Lovely book selection too, with a decent foreign language collection. Service was prompt and friendly. They even bring your drink out to you while you're seated at the table. The cafe area is very small, and only has (3) tables and a long seated bar, so get there early if you're wanting to visit. They don't offer decaf options for espresso or brewed coffee which I found odd, so i ordered a hot chocolate. The 3* is because the lack of decaf espresso, small seating area, lack of food options, and the sofa chair sent my sister into a sneezing fit a few times because of the dust around it. read more

This is a great little nook for readers. There isn't much seating but the place isn't too occupied for there not to be any available seats. Whenever I'm in the building, I may stop here for their unique smoothies or juices. I really enjoy their Pablo Neruda smoothie which is a mango, coconut, turmeric based drink. The small size is all the turmeric you really need so a large would be overkill, opinion but I recommend trying this! Another delicious smoothie was the seasonal pumpkin smoothie, it was very good and I could have gone for large on this one. They also serve immunity shots and teas and coffee as well. Some downsides are the prices and also it may take a while as there is only one associate handling the drinks and cashier but I mean the quality is there so it's justifiable. Other than that, there isn't much else to say, it's a very quaint shop and nice to have around. read more

Found my way to Worcester for a friend's wedding weekend and had some time to explore during the day. Stumbled upon this used book store and cafe while on my way to the much busier BirchTree Bread Company down the hall and am very happy I decided to stop in after it got too loud there. If you're someone who loves to hold a book in your hands to read and feel the worn pages you would appreciate this place. The cafe in the back is very quiet and peaceful and just what I needed to get a few hours of work in. Those who know me know that I can't resist trying a homemade chai latte if it's offered and theirs is steeped from real tea and spices. Great little bookstore in the Crompton Collective building. This is exactly what this place needed. While I didn't get anything from the Cafe it smelled very enticing. Bookstore had a nice selection and the pricing was more than reasonable. A lot of great out of print books, this was built on a great collection. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A new addition to Worcester juice bars and cafes. The atmosphere here is very soothing and peaceful. The environment has a wide selection of books and is set up in a way that really draws you into the canal district and mills ( the shelves are set up like water pipes and industrial design ) The seats have a mixed design and the music is often unpredictable which adds an element of surprise. I have not drank the drinks or tried the foods, but I can say that the environment is a good place to study or chat with a friend One recommendation is there could be more seating or perhaps a booth setting. read more

I love the staff they are very friendly whenever I walk in and I'm so so happy to have a bookshop that isn't a big wig company near me! I always go to browse and end up walking out with a book or two. They have really cool rare finds for such low prices. Cozy environment and a great selection of really affordable, gently used books. I got the pumpkin smoothie and it was made from really fresh ingredients. A little pricey, but worth the ingredients and local support. I could definitely see myself sticking around to get some work done. It is not often that you can find an independent bookshop that has it all. Bedlam Book Cafe is that place. The selection is superb. The proprietors are friendly and helpful. The prices are more than fair. Best of all, the organization of the space and the placement of the items draws you in. With each visit I have found something interesting and new, and often enjoyed a conversation with a fellow patron. Worcester has a long tradition of independent bookstores, but has seen many close in recent years. Bedlam is a welcome addition to the city and the region, precisely because it is what independent, used bookstores used to be and can be again. They prove it daily. read more

Located in the Crompton building with an antique collective and other interesting venues. Well worth a special trip and making an afternoon or evening of it.
