Lo Mein was amazing. The Beef Chow Fun was very tasty. My only criticism is the noodles were a bit overcooked so they were mushy. But even mushy, they were decent. I can tell you without a doubt that if you give the owner/cook direction as to how you prefer your noodles, he will make them exactly as you wish. I will try this again and do another review. The shop is right next to the Donut shop and across the street next to the plaza that has Best Buy! The wait was long but no one seemed upset as the food was worth it. My wife and I have dined at fukee Express several times over the last few months and I must admit it gets better with every visit. Our favorite dishes have been the General Tso's chicken as well as the Mongolian beef. As many before me have stated, it's a one man show. Mike is there all by himself so the service is quite slow however worth the wait. Another one of our favorites are the Crab Rangoons, these are homemade and they're stuffed with a generous amount of cream cheese that are extremely delicious, I would definitely recommend that you try these at least once. Be warned, Mike has developed a weird sort of "customer service" where he sort of insults customers by asking them why they've come in or that they should return on a Tuesday when he's closed - crude humor, however, he tries to be funny in his own special way. Since moving to NC, we really miss northeast style Chinese takeout. We find Chinese takeout in NC to be very bland. So when I read the Fu Kee Express was offering the closest northeast style dishes in the Triangle, I had to try it. Mike, the super friendly owner/chef, is from NJ. He immediately asked me about my 603 area code and said that a high percentage of his customers have MA, NY and NH area codes. I tried the lunch special General Tso's chicken ($6.25) which comes with fried rice. I was skeptical about the rice, it was yellow and resembled Spanish rice more than what I was use to- the fried rice with dark soy sauce- but it was full of flavor. The General Tso's is made with chunks of white meat, not dark and was also full of rich flavor. As for whether it is true to northeast style, we'll have to try more dishes. Other reviewers mentioned that Mike is a one man show, and it appears he is. My order was ready on time, but I could see it being a challenge at times. Also, the plaza Fu Kee Express is located in (across from Belk at Triangle Town Center) is getting a facelift and it may draw more traffic. read more

Just your typical Chinese food restaurant, When you first walk in there's this weird smell, but once you get the food it really overcomes the stench. The restaurant really has no design to it; just white walls and the usual Buddha statue. They had a TV that looked like it went through a war. I guess it didn't really matter to me; I was ordering take-out anyways. I walked in around 2 PM; the place was empty, went up to the counter and a very friendly and funny Asian man (not sure if he was Chinese) welcomed me and took my order, I had the Chicken with Cashews, and White Rice. He insisted on getting the Fried rice with pork, I explained to him I'm Muslim, and that its forbidden to eat anything that comes from a pig, and he understood. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be ready. He gladly handed me the take out order and thanked me. I rushed home and devoured the food! The chicken was savory, and the cashews mixed with celery were delicious too. The Price was 5.97 and the portion is big enough to keep you satisfied, Taste was a little bit above average. Came here on my lunch break today. I have driven past Fu Kee in the past but never stopped to dine. A Yelp search led me here. En route to Fu Kee, I attempted to call several times to place a pick up order. My calls went unanswered. Upon further inspection of the reviews I saw that it was a one-man show. I knew then I would just have to wait until I arrived to place my order. This was a bit of a downer as my round-trip commute to the restaurant would cut my lunch break in half but I decided to suck it up and sojourn on. Upon arrival, I noticed the place was mostly empty with the exception of another client placing his order. Kind of disappointing being that my calls went unanswered but I did see that the gentleman was alone. So kept a positive outlook. The client in front of me tried to give the owner business advice about hiring another worker of which he was not accepting. "Too expensive!" he barked repeatedly before gruffly taking my order: broccoli and brown sauce with white rice. My total was $7.55 for the lunch special which didn't include anything other than what I ordered :0(. A bit steep when compared to the other lunch specials in the area. After 10 minutes, the order was complete and I headed back to the office. Upon arrival, I found the generously portioned lunch box. I thought, "Well maybe it was worth it!" I took the first bite and was let down by the flavor. The sauce lacked seasoning as did the broccoli despite its crunchy, freshness. Overall, thought it was an upset. Been here a few times , the food had always been great. Every customer understands there's a one man staff running the show so at times there will be a long wait. Don't bother calling in an order because it goes straight to voicemail. Anyways this review is about the one man running the show. My wife was in line and when it was her turn she placed an order. Since there was a long wait, he offered my wife and another black woman a drink. They both declined but he insisted and mentioned that it'll be no charge for the drinks because "I give you guys free drinks because you people complain, white people don't complain". Interesting one man show. I've read the reviews and feel weird because I like Mike. He's funny. But my servings were not large. The egg roll I had was not something I would eat again. 1st visit- We had the house rice - very good. Beef with broccoli was good/decent. 2nd visit- The sesame chicken was fresh but not crispy and the sauce was a bit sweet. The fried rice is just yellow rice, no onions, peas, egg, meat or anything. But it is fresh. I want to like this place but will keep looking for a great place to eat fresh authentic Chinese food. I'm looking for a place that has lots of Chinese people eating there when you go in because it's good authentic Chinese food... Amended today after a third visit. The yellow rice was (re)used to make the house special rice so this time it was just this side of mushy. The (less) spicy general tso's chicken I requested was the same chicken I had two days ago as sesame chicken, just without the sesame seeds. But charged for (mushy reheated chicken) general tso 's. I don't think we'll be going back. He doesn't want to hire anyone to help because of cost. Maybe that's why he uses the same food all week long? I've only had the chicken & broccoli but it's typically what I get when I order out. It might be the top chicken & broccoli I've ever had. This is quite possibly the best Chinese in RALEIGH and surrounding area. If he feels the need to lock the door because he is too busy, just wait, he will unlock it soon and have you out with your food as soon as possible. I tend to try and work around his busy times and so do other customers I have talked to. Some come from very far at off times and take home multiple meals for the week. I've been twice now. Excellent fresh food both times. I liked the Genera Tso Chicken over the Sweet and Sour Chicken but that's just me. I have gotten lucky and went during times he isn't busy so my wait times for food have been 15 mins or less. However, I hear that when he is busy you can be waiting for about 45 minutes.
