In spite of all the good reviews I read about this place, my meal was not good. The egg roll was overly fried. The LoMain had no flavor and was very dry. The Kung Pau Chicken was good, but my wife thought it was too spicy for her. The service was poor. The owner is a one man show - cooks, answers the phone, takes payment, etc. If you drove up to the restaurant you'd think the place was closed but the owner is in the back furiously slaving away. Because he is a one man show you have to play by his rules. His food is excellent and so he often gets very busy. My son & myself visited here on Wednesday 2-14-24. Ambience not there. Clean. One man show & pleasant. We chose Beef Chow Fun, Orange Flavored Chicken combination and Szechuan Chicken combination. It was about a 30-40-minute wait. The Beef Chow Fun was as expected and was the best of all the meals. The Szechuan Chicken was average in taste, the Orange Chicken, was better than the restaurants that service this near me. However, I've had much better. This had perfectly cut little pieces of chicken breast meat and was somewhat dry on the inside, the supposed to be Fried Rice that comes with any meal is just plain unflavored yellow rice and he will add what you want in the plain yellow rice. There is no taste of any the rice being fried. It was almost like eating a boiled chicken! The Egg Rolls are somewhat burned and completely dry like desert sand. I got the impression they may be Air-Fried because they have NO trace of any oil in them whatsoever. We drove almost 20 miles to try this place, and I have to say, it would not be a choice for me again anytime soon or a recommendation to someone who enjoys really good Asian food like me. Finally! After almost 4 years of living in Raleigh I have finally found a Chinese spot that reminds me of New York. I'm simple when it comes to ordering Chinese; Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, and Steamed Pork Dumplings. Everywhere I have been to in Raleigh cant get it right with the sesame chicken, but Fu Kee is solid and I couldn't be more excited to have a Chinese spot pinned down. This trip I didn't get the fried rice, so I can't comment on that. However, the Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein, Spring Roll, and Dumplings were far superior to any Chinese I have had in the Raleigh area. First time I tried it, I ordered three different meals take-out and got more like six out of them. Most recent experience was on a Friday night. Both were good, but neither was spicy. Easy to remedy though. And again, a good four meals-worth. I would say order ahead, but I never saw him answer the phone (which rang constantly). So if you get a craving for Chinese in North Raleigh and are okay with waiting for good quality, this is your place. It's the real deal for Americanized Chinese food here in Raleigh. They use fresh ingredients, serve freshly made rice, and don't skimp with the meat. Items that are supposed to be spicy are. Mongolian beef had lots of good beef--many places use beef with a lot of gristle and more onions than beef. Tofu with vegetables was spicy, with nice fresh broccoli and carrots. I've gotten takeout from this place a handful of times, and it never disappoints. Last night the beau and I arrived around 8:20pm to order. He wanted to call before we left home, but I informed him that the owner rarely answers the phone due to also being the cook. When we arrived we waited between 5-10 minutes to order so he could finish cooking the orders of the folks who were already there waiting. We ordered the pork lo mein combo, General Tao's chicken combo, egg drop soup, and hot & sour soup. We probably waited about 15 minutes for our food to cook, but boy was it worth it! I was lowkey upset that I didn't order the Tao's chicken for myself, because it was so juicy and piping hot. My lo mein was tasty as well, with just the right amount of heat. I had enough for leftovers for lunch, and saved my hot & sour soup for dinner for the next night. The soup was spicy and full of tofu chunks. Perfect for this chilly weather. I finally got into this place. I had heard so much about it and how good it is as well as the eccentricities of the owner. If you've read any of the other reviews, you probably already know that this spot is run by the owner and he doesn't have any other employees. I probably waited for about 10 minutes before he acknowledged that I was there and he said he would be another five minutes. He packed up a large order for one of the customers and then a single order for the other. I finally had my chance to place an order and see what all the hype is about. He was very friendly and funny even though he kept a straight face. I ordered the pork lo mein combo and a drink. Not all places do this, but he asked what level of spiciness I wanted which I appreciated. I feel like most places just make the order standard if it's not indicated as a spicy option. I took a seat and about 5-7 minutes later my order was up. As he was cashing me out he was making jokes about how it's usually very busy in there and that I had come in at a good time. My pork lo mein had a good level of spiciness, not too much and not too little. The rice was very well cooked. It was moist as it should be. The eggroll was nice and crispy and not too greasy. I enjoyed the food, I thought he was funny, but the wait was a little longer than I would've anticipated with just two customers in front of me. Fukee Express is my favorite take out Chinese spot. The owner runs a one man show so during busy times it may take a little longer to receive your order, however, it's worth the wait. I have been to several Chinese take out restaurants and this place is where I choose to go each time. The taste and flavor of the sweet and sour soup is perfect. The lo mein noodles are sauced well and not dry. Every time I go I must get an order of the crab rangoons and really, those are what keep me coming back each time. The rice was mushy as all get out it was too over cooked which is just horrible. The broccoli was mushy as well I couldn't even eat my platter which was a waste of $10. The general tso was good though surprisingly. I would get that again. The egg rolls were average. The owner is kind, hilarious and amazing. He runs the whole place by himself, so, he cooks, checks people out, and makes sure everyone is OK so make sure you are kind to him. His food is always delicious. I have eaten there so many times and the food never fails to disappoint. I am a big fan of his Singapore Noodles.
