Running a small business for 12 years now and using FTS Broadband since early 2019 to date. Very friendly and reliable service for the area.

After getting a few estimates from other businesses in the area, I contacted ACP and outlined the issue. They quoted me a low price and an hour for installation, so I brought it in immediately. yesterday. Rajeev called me after an hour or so to let me know that the part needed to be micro-soldered. I already knew this in advance. He then informed me that he didn't know how to do it, but there was "a guy upstairs above [him]" who could. After quoting me $200, I let him know there was another repair shop who had quoted me $150, and, after a brief consultation away from the phone, he offered to match their quote. I gave the go-ahead to fix it, with the understanding that it would take a couple of hours. This morning, I went to the shop to pick up the computer. He showed me how the port was repaired, and I saw that the charger indeed fit in the port. My laptop wouldn't start when I pressed the power button. At that moment, Rajeev informed me, "Your computer won't start up. You're going to have to re-install Windows via a USB flash drive." Confused, I asked him to plug in the charger so I could start it while it was charging. It initially booted up, then displayed a "Security Boot Fail" error and wouldn't start up any further. He refused to accept any responsibility for the problem and said, "It's YOUR laptop. It must have been already like this when you brought it in. I just fixed the power port like you said." I was frustrated - it's my work computer - I've got a backup, but it's not as fast and awesome as this one. I'm not ridiculously tech-savvy, and was VERY unhappy that I might lose all the purchased software and settings I still had downloaded on my computer. After I told him that I had no idea of how to even get Windows on a flash drive to install it, he suggested that he could do it, but he would charge me $150 to do so. "But then it's wiped clean! I have programs on there that I need! I don't want to start from scratch!" I balked. "If you would like to make sure all of that is restored, we can do it, but then it will cost another $100." I was irate. "My computer was fine before I brought it in! Running great! No problems!" "Well, you called me...you had a broken power port." "Yes, but the power port has nothing to do with the rest of the computer. You guys had to have done something that triggered this. It wasn't like this." "All we did was fix the power port. This is YOUR computer." "So, you'd charge me $250 to simply get my computer back and running in the condition it was in before I brought it to you? I technically just paid $150 to have a working power port on a NOW-BROKEN AND USELESS computer?" I told him it was akin to holding my computer for ransom - and remarked that it was like bringing a car in to get the brakes fixed, and then coming back to find the right side of it smashed in, but him telling me that the brakes are now working perfectly. Rajeev shrugged and shook his head. I paid the $150 by credit card, which came out in two separate transactions of $100 and $50. When I asked him why it was in two separate transactions, he said, "I forgot and put in $100." Interesting, as he had initially planned to charge me $200. My guess is that $50 goes to him and $100 goes to "the guy upstairs." I left, panicked, thinking that I now had a useless computer that I would need to replace and have everything re-installed on by Monday. Getting home, I looked up "Security Boot Fail" on Google, which gave me direct instructions and a YouTube video showing me how to press F2 at startup, enter the Boot submenu, and change a few settings. I restarted the computer, and, voila. ZERO PROBLEMS. BACK TO NORMAL. What ACR wanted to charge me $250 EXTRA DOLLARS FOR, I was able to do in a period of FIVE MINUTES. It was an easy fix, but unless you KNOW exactly what to do, you'd think your computer was scrap metal. If he wanted to provide good customer service, he could have walked me through it right there at the counter. Because I know that's exactly what they would have done if I had left my computer with them. I wonder how many people who wouldn't know where to look for answers have fallen prey to Rajeev's insane scam. Two stars, because the power port works great now. But BUYER BEWARE. They will try to upcharge you a ridiculous amount.
