bacon egg and cheese on everything bagel: 9/10 such a good bagel sandwich wow. other reviews ranked it poorly because they said the bagel was hard. i could agree with this and it's why it isn't 10/10, the bagel wasn't the greatest but it wasn't bad at all. the bagel would have to be amazing to get 10/10 though. the filling was so delicious because it was very fresh as any good bagel sandwich should be. the cheese was nicely melted and it was very flavorful! i also got this after 5pm (which is when they stop serving them) which was super nice! this part has nothing to do with frothy monkey- i have left another really long review on frothy monkey but it doesn't let me update that one so this is a separate post. i am wishing for a yelp update where you can edit old posts and add to them AND leave another separate review read more

Cozy coffee shop that offers a variety of food and drinks that will meet the needs of everyone in your group. Staff is friendly and efficient with how busy the location is. We wanted to check out this spot on a Saturday around 10:30. There was around a 45 minute wait so we opted to try again on Sunday. Sunday we arrived around 8:45 and there was a 15 minute wait. The food and drinks we ordered were good. I got the farm breakfast with a bagel substitute. The bagel did not come toasted. I would recommend requesting the bagel be toasted if you prefer it to be warm and crispy. The lattes ordered were on point. There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant, as well as street parking. read more

Visited frothy monkey twice on a recent visit to the area. I really like the ambience and uniqueness of the menu. For drinks, I got a hot london fog with their rose syrup - the drink was a little too milky but I still enjoyed my beverage. The next day, we returned and did lunch. We got the black bean patty burger and the breakfast plate (sourdough, eggs, and avocado with salsa). The food was good, I did not like the pimento cheese on my burger (texture threw me off) but the burger was toast were tasty! Especially liked their homemade salsa. The service was also attentive and friendly. Overall, a great coffee shop if you are in Nashville. read more

The area of this location is beautiful and there are so many shops in the area, especially around October they even had a small pumpkin patch next door. We went on a Friday and the wait was only 30 minutes. Our server was nice, but not the most attentive and forgot to bring my mimosa, luckily it wasn't on the bill. We ordered the Turtle Latte, French Toast, and Farm breakfast. The turtle latte was pretty average in my opinion, I'd give it a 4/5. The French toast was good, 4/5. The Farm breakfast was kind of bland 3/5, not bad just nothing special and lacking seasoning except the grits. Got the Blume (seasonal) coffee which was banana lavender and it was so good and really cute - they added flowers to the latte! The rosemary honey latte is year round and amazing, would absolutely get again. Then we got the farm breakfast - the Gouda grits were so good that even my friend who hates cheese liked it and the bacon may be the best I've ever had. I don't know what to think. How can two meals from the same place on the same order be so crazy different. The salmon was delicious. The omelette I got to go for a guest was not edible, it was so over cooked it was crap. I am irritated because this is not what you should get when you spend $40 for a meal. Strolling through 12 South with nothing to do, we stopped at Frothy Monkey to rest our feet and recaffeinate while watching the passersby. We got a london fog (ear gray tea with oat milk) and a cortado, which came with a small shot of seltzer water (as it should). Both drinks were perfect and hit the spot. Sitting outside, we sipped away while watching folks go back and forth. But beware the falling pears from the tree! We were looking for some unique coffee shops in Nashville, and people kept telling us to check out Frothy Monkey! Apparently they have some amazing food here because we couldn't even get a table if we tried, but luckily we were just in for coffee and got to go straight to the baristas! We tried a Monkey Mocha, a Golden Monkey, and a Turtle! The coffees were all delicious, and the monkey mocha surprised us the most because it has a banana element to it that I've never had before! If you're considering visiting Frothy Monkey, save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere. This place is the epitome of mediocrity, from start to finish. First off, the service is an absolute disaster. The staff appears as though they would rather be anywhere else. Imagine a group of people who seem allergic to friendliness. It took forever to even be acknowledged, and when they finally got around to our table, the server had the charm of a wet sponge. Not to mention the fact that they had zero knowledge about their own menu, making basic questions feel like a crime. And then there's the manager, who walks around wearing her baby in a carrier while waiting tables. While it's definitely a bold choice, it's not exactly the ideal vibe for a place that's supposed to exude any sense of professionalism. I get that people have kids and all, but when you're in charge of running a business, perhaps juggling a baby while managing a busy café isn't the best look. It's distracting, gross, and frankly, kind of unsettling to watch someone try to take orders with a baby spitting up and sneezing everywhere. It's as if the restaurant can't decide if it's a coffee shop or a daycare center. The food? A tragedy on a plate. I've been coming here for months pretty regularly, and I'm not sure what's happened in the last 2 weeks or so, but the quality of pretty much everything has significantly decreased. I ordered the farm breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, sourdough and grits. The bread was hard as a rock (and was the tiniest little end piece), the eggs weren't really "scrambled" more like a egg patty, the cup of grits was barely filled half way and the bacon--if you could even call it that--was limp and rubbery. My wife is vegetarian so she just ordered some sides (roasted veggies, tomato soup, and a cup of fruit)- the veggies were a mix of burned and soggy and essentially flavorless. The fruit was cut in usually large chunks and the pineapple was all brown because it wasn't shaved down enough! The soup also was missing its usual flavor and creaminess and was utterly disappointing. You'd think for a place that prides itself on being a "trendy" coffeehouse, they'd be able to master the art of a simple breakfast. Apparently not. And let's talk about the coffee, which, for a cafe, is kind of important, right? Well, Frothy Monkey's coffee tastes like it was brewed with a sock. It's bitter, burnt, and downright undrinkable. You'd be better off hitting up the closest gas station and grabbing a cup of their mystery brew. If you enjoy overpriced food, lackluster service, and a general sense of disappointment, Frothy Monkey might just be for you. But if you're looking for an actual enjoyable experience, do yourself a favor and keep searching. You'll thank me later read more

A must try! We were excited to try out Frothy Monkey on our recent visit to Nashville, we visited the 12 South location. Love that it had picnic tables outside to sit at. It was rather chilly and windy the morning we stopped in so we chose to sit inside. We arrived on a Wednesday morning after 9 am and there was a 15 min wait, not bad- but something to note when planning. This place was buzzing and bustling the way it should be- exciting to see such a well loved place be busy. We were able to get drinks while we wait for a table. I chose a vanilla latte with oat milk and it was so good! Love that they locally roast and source their coffee and food. There's even a list of all the local farms they use which is amazing. Truly supporting small and local when you eat here! My husband got the breakfast sandwich on a bagel and I chose the French toast which was equally delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful and allowed us to linger for a bit longer this being our first time here to eat. We will be back again when we're visiting Nashville again! read more

Such a cute location! Really conveniently located on 12th South. Very busy too! The rest of my group didn't have to wait too long to get their drinks, but I had to wait past every person that ordered after me. After going up to the bar twice asking for my drink I finally got it but then they asked if I ordered two drinks because they had made two. One was hot and one was iced, but I had only ordered the hot monkey mocha. I don't think that's what I ended up with which was disappointing but it was an honest mistake I'm sure. My drink definitely tasted like a Rosemary honey latte. There was no chocolate sauce or banana syrup in my drink. Hopefully I'll get another chance to try it! read more

Was out looking for a local cup of coffee and stumbled upon the Frothy Monkey and so glad we did. This location also has a restaurant side, but we just grabbed some coffee to go. There was a special, I think named Joanne, which was a cold press with blackberry and lemon. I know sound incredibly strange with coffee but it. was. amazing. It was super refreshing for the hot day on tap. Staff was very nice, answering all of our questions about flavors and what the best beans to take home would be. read more

Frothy Monkey is a staple on 12 South and for good reason. Food and coffee are always solid and I'd say above average. We tried a bacon/egg/cheese bagel, brown sugar poptart, blueberry muffin, and a chocolate oatmeal cookie (yeah I've got a sweet tooth). The poptart was probably my favorite bakery item we had. Chalk full of icing on top, and a lot of brown sugar in the middle. The muffin was good, but didnt knock my socks off by any means. The cookie was solid and was the size of my face which earns some bonus points. The bagel was delicious and I felt it was similar to most if not a bit better with how crispy it was. The seating was great with our dog being able to hang outside with us and get lots of "cute dog" compliments. We will be back as we loved both the atmosphere & food. read more

My sister and I LOVED our coffee from Frothy Monkey during our trip to Nashville last year, so we wanted to come back this year. The coffee was as amazing as we remembered! My Havana Latte was absolutely delicious. Yes, there was a long line, but it just goes to show how great of a place it is! We decided to grab breakfast (to go) this time too and unfortunately were a bit disappointed. My sister's bacon egg and cheese sandwich came without bacon (they were super busy, and we had a flight to catch, so we figured it would be a hassle to go back in and try to get it corrected). My omelette, which did include all of the right ingredients, was just meh. Maybe I'm just used to the ingredients being mixed in and cooked with the eggs, but I was disappointed that the fixings (mainly just some raw peppers) were folded in between. It was obvious that the food was rushed and I probably wouldn't try it again in the future. But that coffee!!! I'll be back for that!! read more

This was my first time coming to this location as I am not typically in the area. The only thing that sucks about coming to this location is the parking. The whole 12 south area is so incredibly busy all the time, so finding parking to run in to get a quick coffee is more time consuming than anything. However, this location has outdoor seating, I saw plenty of doggos sitting outside, and the service was quick. Long time east Nashville residents and Frothy Monkey is our go to restaurant for breakfast, lunch, brunch, etc. On Valentines Frothy Monkey offered a dinner which was absolutely delightful. The service was excellent as usual, the dinner was delicious (we had the lamb!!) and as always their famous Kale Caesar Salad which is an absolute must for any meal!! I stopped to pickup breakfast to go and thought this would be better than the Twice Daily down the block. I was wrong. Twice Daily's bagels are softer and the service faster. I ordered two breakfast bagels from FM that were hard, and then the biscuits and chorizo gravy that tasted like the biscuits were a day or two old and they definitely didn't heat them before so they were cold too. We've had great omelets here but really disappointing for spending $40 for a quick breakfast that was not very quick. Lesson learned. read more

We didn't get coffee, but we all ordered the breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, and sourdough. The sourdough was great, and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The bacon, however, was the star of the show! So thick and flavorful. It also came with a side of smoked Gouda grits, which weren't great as they had a very gummy texture and lacked seasoning.
