I love this spot for breakfast or lunch! I came here last weekend while I was in town for the Nashville half marathon. We didn't get coffee, but we all ordered the breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, and sourdough. The sourdough was great, and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The bacon, however, was the star of the show! So thick and flavorful. It also came with a side of smoked Gouda grits, which weren't great as they had a very gummy texture and lacked seasoning. Their house made hot sauce here is also delish! Be aware, they will have long waits on the weekends. read more

Love this little coffee shop in the 12South neighborhood. We had actually visited it years ago on our first trip to Nashville and loved it then. It's MUCH busier now, so we actually had to wait a few minutes outside to place our to-go order. This is my go-to breakfast place a block from my hotel and my office in Nashville, TN. I am a creature of habit, so the two things I had there apart from their awesome coffee are the Avocado Toast and Garden Omelette. Both of the dishes were filling, made with care, and tasty. Now, if you are wondering how someone can screw up a Garden Omelette, I will tell you a few places. The ambiance is casual, and most ingredients are freshly and locally sourced. Long time east Nashville residents and Frothy Monkey is our go to restaurant for breakfast, lunch, brunch, etc. On Valentines Frothy Monkey offered a dinner which was absolutely delightful. The service was excellent as usual, the dinner was delicious (we had the lamb!!) and as always their famous Kale Caesar Salad which is an absolute must for any meal!! Our server (Josh) and all the staff are fun, courteous, and helpful. Many, Many thanks to the manager and staff for spending their Valentines with our neighborhood. I stopped to pickup breakfast to go and thought this would be better than the Twice Daily down the block. I was wrong. Twice Daily's bagels are softer and the service faster. I ordered two breakfast bagels from FM that were hard, and then the biscuits and chorizo gravy that tasted like the biscuits were a day or two old and they definitely didn't heat them before so they were cold too. We've had great omelets here but really disappointing for spending $40 for a quick breakfast that was not very quick. Lesson learned. read more

Great location for this coffee shop! I was checking out the town the other day and decided to stop in for an iced matcha latte. It was pretty good, although not as sweet as I would typically prefer. I also got a gluten free blueberry muffin, which was delicious. Such a cute place with seating indoors and outdoors, plus the workers seem very friendly. read more

The person who brought the food out to us was wearing a mask! We got the Lucy salad ($10), the Royale (comes with chips and salsa) ($9.50), the Britt ($11) with a side of feta cheese grits ($2.50), and the Architect Omelet ($10). Everything was absolutely delicious. They got everything right. And it's reasonably priced too! I will dream of that salad, it was so good. Place is ridiculously packed and loud but for me, it is an indication that it is good. Located on a busy street, the restaurant in a quaint place that's actually bigger than it looks. Their menu is not super large but they have a lot of delicious things to offer. Only thing, it seemed that almost every other thing we asked for, they were out of. But again, must be so good they just run out off it. Despite being so busy, staff is super cool and nice , and food was amazing! This was a breakfast spot that my friend had seen her last time in Nashville and wanted to try it out. We got there at the perfect time - around 10 am. It wasn't really busy and we got sat right away. My friend got the avocado toast and fried eggs which she said was so good. It was packed with a ton of other veggies as well. I got the Huevos Rolandos with pork. It came with halved potatoes, avocado, fried eggs and a tortilla. The service got a little slow once it picked up but that's to be expected. If you're a huge coffee person, they have a ton of coffee options. This is definitely one to check out if you're in Nashville. read more

I've tried coming here before but the wait was so long that we ended up tying a different joint instead. I love seeing that places are overwhelmingly busy, though, as that's an obvious sign people love it. However, my experience here with my Mother was anything but good. We were seated within 15 mins which was the best part of the experience to be frank. Once seated, our server took our drink orders within maybe a minute ("Monkey Mocha" and a water). The water was delivered immediately, the coffee took, no joke, 15+ minutes to be delivered. I'd like to mention that not once did our server come up between the drink order and the ridiculously long wait for a coffee to check on us or explain why the coffee wasn't brought out yet. **A different server dropped off my coffee. To clarify, the restaurant was at normal late-breakfast time capacity. Meaning, not packed. Additionally, once the server came by to take our orders, I was well done with my coffee that I had sitting at the edge of the table with an obvious location to be picked up off the table and preferably also asked if I'd like another. Not only did the server not ask for any additional drinks on our order (which I didn't want after all given the ridiculous wait time), he also didn't bother to pick up the empty mug (I was highly annoyed at this point). MOREOVER, once the food was delivered, which they forgot the side bacon (no big deal),but STILL, even after trying to make room for the food on this small 2-top table, they leave the empty mug. They came by twice.. 2 different servers dropping off the food and then our server whom apparently also switched on us mid-service with no warning.) Yet, on the table which I left in the same spot was the mug that 3 different servers didn't care enough about their guest to do their job. Lastly, the food... after having waited now 50 MINUTES for two easy breakfast meals (50 minutes from the food order might I add, not the original/first drink order)... the food was MEH - literally in disbelief that everything was this bad. My mother and I were both in agreement on the entire experience. The toast was certainly not toasted, rather it was actually stale/hard to chew. The omelets were so-so, nothing special.. little runny inside and very flat. Bacon was thick and good, but not crispy like we ordered (it looks like it was crispy, but it was floppy and soft. Now, I understand this isn't some 5 star restaurant, but for an industry that EXPECTS to be tipped for their "service", you need to absolutely do way better. Sad to say this experience left us never wanting to go back. I live in Franklin, so I might try the location here one day in hopes this was just a god-awful, one-off experience, but farfetched to say the least. read more

There was a long wait but Autumn was so nice and connected to all the waiting customers; she can give a course on how to treat people that wait. Our helpers were Kyle and Macy, best people ever! The drinks and food were so good! I had the La Rochelle margarita and my friend had a bourbon drink with star anise, called maple bourbon smash. Let's just start with how good they smelled! Love frothy, have never been dissatisfied with my food at any location. Staff are always nice too. But Their logistics leave something to be greatly desired. Only one cashier on a busy Sunday at lunch time (and no this was t a fluke, it's always busy at this time). And that cashier also stops to make drinks?! Hell to the no. I've never written a yelp review before, and I will be transparent that maybe they caught me on a bad day. This is *not a food or drink review*. This is a guyblinkingincredulously.gif review I sat down at an outside table and pulled up my computer only to have a "this network cannot be configured" message pop up. I tried restarting my computer, changing wifi settings, etc. No avail. I went and asked two employees at the front about this, and they said "that's weird" and "I'm not sure" when I asked if the internet was down or if it was a my computer thing. Then they suggested I ask the boutique next door for their wifi (the boutique didn't know their own password). I then pulled up wifi on my phone and got the same error. I took both devices inside and showed to the same person who had answered me earlier and she just looked at me and went and got someone. I wasn't disruptive or even saying much, I was just gonna see if anything else could be done. She went and got the manager who said the wifi has been down all day. And I said "All day?" And she said yes and something about the service provider trying to fix it. I've been in dozens of coffee shops where the internet was down or went down after I had already gotten something. It happens to everyone and is completely understandable. This was more peculiar than anything. This was at 2pm. Why did it take 4 Frothy employees seeing yet another person come in with a work bag, spend $7 on a latte, ask point blank about internet issues, only to THEN get a manager, to finally get to "we don't have internet". The employee who took my order literally said "you gonna get some work done?" If a coffee shop's internet is down, especially if it's been down for 6+ hours, shouldn't you tell the person who is getting some work done that the internet is down? It's either dishonesty (employees knowing internet is down and hoping I just...go away?) or ignorance (employees don't know internet is down "all day"...doubtful) and therefore it's the manager being okay with bilking people out of the price of an expensive latte. BTW expensive is fine when the iced golden monkey latte is a total gem. The drinks are delish, duh. That's why I wanted to come work on the patio with a GML on a beautiful day, which is WHY this experience was supremely frustrating. I've been coming to Frothy since I was 16. I've always loved it, and perhaps that is why I'm writing this. I know the internet being down is not ultimately a huge deal. But the ostensibly dishonest way that I was given the runaround really miffed me. I'm still a bit confused as much as annoyed because it was odd how evasive the answers were. Frothy Monkey... what a name. Love it + love the cafe. We stumbled upon it while shopping up and down South 12th and am very glad we did. Only stopping in for an iced latte the first time, we decided to come back the next day with our laptops and work from the coffee shop. The place is extraordinarily busy at all times, but their service is so quick - they've got the system down! It's a great little spot tucked behind a little mini yard that leads up the the porch. Seems like a restored old house of sorts. It's quite small inside of the main entrance with an extension room off the left side that offers additional seating. As does the front patio. Clearly a popular place to work from, as there were people with headphones, computers, books and note pads all over. I very much enjoyed my matcha latte + quinoa power bowl! The red quinoa was chilled and topped with marinated chickpeas, sprouts, red onion, cucumbers, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto and herbed tofu. All of the yummy flavors were just the right mix. If you're looking for a place to brunch, this is it! I visited on my first trip to Nashville and was very pleased. We were seated right away on a Sunday at noon. I wanted a sweet and savory item so my friend and I split the french toast and farmer's breakfast. Our server David was so attentive and communicative about the timing of our food. When we asked for separate checks, the food items we shared were split correctly. He remembered every detail. Although I only got a chai, the selection of coffee, syrups and warm drinks was impressive. The apple orchata with their home made caramel was tempting but went with a classic. So for the 1000th review I would like to say this place makes any morning better. The vibe, the energy the Cuban coffee (not to mention the banging play list that accompanied my breakfast sandwich. Any restaurant that plays music from the freaking Catalina Wine Mixer (Step Brothers) must have their act together. Shout out to Chris. He's the best server.
