The downtown Franklin, TN location features great coffee, tasty food, and a truly warm environment.

The other morning I decided to treat myself to breakfast at this well-established & much- loved establishment. (I like to support the locals whenever possible.) I had just enough time on a rainy Friday morning to grab a bite, enjoy it and head on to work. With a perfect parking spot, I went to the coffee bar/restaurant & was told there was was a ten minute await to sit inside, no upstairs seating available b/c not enough staff ( I understand), or I could sit outside on the ample and well-protected front porch area. I ordered, paid, tipped well in the cash jar & went outside to grab a table. Moments later, my breakfast appeared in a to go box w/ napkins & plastic-ware. To my surprise, I said," Oh! I didn't order 'to go', but to eat here." I was told, "you eta outside and its to go". Yikes! I was in time-out!? Because I chose not to wait for an inside table?? I knew I had just enough time to make this work, but seriously?? Needless to say, managing avocado "toast" (read: soft bread with a mere spread of avocado plus veggies & my requested eggs, cold by the time they arrived in the neatly folded brown box) w/plastic-ware was a feat! I should have asked for a plate but thought I'd be dismissed. I did go find real tableware. The coffee, whatever was the day's brew, was extremely hot & harsh-tasting. I carved my way thru the soft "toast" and eggs, did my best not to drop bites on my rain gear, finished, took my disposables to the trash & tableware inside to the hostess, and left. Wow! What an incredible find in the Franklin area. We were blown away by their Shrimp-and-grits. Not expecting much, we ordered that southern, familiar food, and we were surprised to receive a beautifully spiced, ornately laid out dish with large shrimp and barley grits. A great, healthy dish with amazing flavor! We requested that the dish be split into two plates, so the picture attached is of a half portion :) We also ordered two specialty drinks. The talk green one is a matcha-based seltzer with housemate raspberry syrup. Delicious and refreshing, especially in the context of Summer Tennessee. Great spot to sit on the porch and have a meal. Wait staff was friendly and did not rush us to leave when we finished eating. Breakfast dishes were good. The chorizo biscuits and gravy were good. The coffee drinks were also very good. Would definitely return if in the area again. read more

It all started one night at a wine tasting event at the Factory in Franklin. There were several tables with food from different local restaurants. The food from Frothy Monkey's table was my favorite. Scott was working that night and said I should stop in the restaurant. I'm now addicted to this place. I stop in every Friday morning and get breakfast to go. I've had almost everything on the breakfast menu! My favorite is the Farm Breakfast with eggs, bacon, roasted red potatoes, and toast. This is the best bacon and potatoes are my favorite breakfast food. Sometimes I get the special as it is always exciting and delicious no matter what it is. My coworkers and I decided to check out their lunch options since breakfast is always so good. I love chicken salad so I ordered the Betsy which is chicken salad with cranberries served on sourdough. I can't wait to try the rest of the lunch menu. My husband and I had dinner here awhile back but I can't remember what I ate that night. I just remember it being an awesome date night. It just means we will have to dine here more. Everyone is very friendly here. The service is awesome. The prices are amazing for the quality of the food. This is now my favorite place to eat in Franklin thanks to Scott. He even recognizes me when I stop in on Friday morning for my breakfast. read more

The 2 times I've been to Tennessee as an adult I find myself searching for a Frothy Monkey nearby. This is what coffee shops in Hallmark movies are made of... artisan coffees infused with herbs like rosemary, the smell of freshly baked desserts, and lots of space so you can sip your coffee undisturbed. There's never been a coffee or dessert from the Frothy Monkey that I didn't like. If you're open to trying new flavors there's definitely something for you. If the have the banana snickerdoodle pudding GET IT, you won't the regret it. read more

Everyone kept talking about this place, so I wanted to check it out for myself. We got seated outside right away (11am), but there was a wait for inside seating. The staff was very kind. Unfortunately we waited a while for our food, but when we got it it was delicious!! I got the Rosemary honey latte; it was good, but a little too sweet for my liking. Stopped in the after robin with a couple hours to kill. The weather was mild and it seemed like a good day to enjoy some coffee on the front porch. I stepped up to the counter and asked for a pour over. This is a coffee shop, not a convenience store, so this seemed like a reasonable request. The order taker told me it would take a while and asked if I www sure that's what I wanted. I told him that I'm not in a hurry and we discussed my bean options. I selected the Nicaraguan and was then informed that he would prefer not to make me a pour over because it's a "tedious" process. I relented and changed my order to a drip. So strange to be talked out of a handcrafted drink at a coffee shop. But it gets weirder. Some who I presume was in charge overheard the conversation and followed me to the porch to double down on why they didn't want to make a pour over. At. A. Coffee. Shop. I enjoyed my drip and a bit later the person in charge brought a pour over and apologized for the way she handled the situation. That was nice of her, but I'd already decided that next time I'll pop into Starbucks. It's super close and they are eager to please. read more

During our stay in Franklin this place has popped up a few times now so we thought we'd give it a try. We were greeted by a host who gave us the option to dine in or take out. We chose take out because we were limited on time. We ordered 2 Capri breakfast sandwiches (2 eggs, mozzarella cheese, and pesto on a grilled roll), a plain iced latte with oatmilk, and a Turtle Latte. Coffee came up quick and was able to watch the barista make them, which I always appreciate. My husband enjoyed his latte and so did I. I was expecting it to be a lot sweeter than it was and was pleasantly surprised that it was just hints of chocolate, caramel, and pecan with a strong espresso taste. The sandwiches came out not too long after. They were good, I personally felt the sandwich was a little dry even with the pesto but I'm a saucey kinda lady. I would add mayo next time if I was able to. The pesto had nice flavor, good level of garlic, and a nice consistency, seemed like it was homemade. read more

Really like this place it has a good atmosphere with local art on the walls to compliment the trendy coffee house decor. Very friendly staff and good service. On top of that the food was good. Everything we ordered had a okay portion and nice presentation. I had the architect omelette with mushrooms, bacon, avocado, and feta. The omelette was nice and light with an okay amount of filling. I say okay because they went a little light on the feta and could've added a touch more bacon (bacon makes everything better so why not add a little more). Come to think of it the same could be said for the avocado (had about 1/4 of a medium avocado, should have been 1/2). Overall thought this place is good and I will definitely try it again for lunch of dinner. read more

We've loved coming to Frothy Monkey since we moved to the area 3 years ago. The service is great, the food is good and the coffee is amazing. However, today changed our opinion of this place and we will be more hesitant to come in the future. We ordered two coffees with half and half and two breakfasts. When we got our itemized receipt we noticed a $1.00 charge labeled "Brevie" under each coffee and found out it was for the half and half. $1.00 each for the splash of half and half in the coffee?! I honestly think $1.00 is way to much for a splash of half and half but at least being told that half and half is extra would have made it better. But even better would be a more reasonable charge. Perhaps $.25 (at most) and still let people know there is an up charge for what is typically provided at no charge. read more

I really want to love this place but alas, after two visits I have to give this place a thumbs down. None of the beverages I've had were all that great or worth coming back for. The food.....how are people actually into it? I went with the royal sandwich and MAN what a disappointment. I essentially paid $9 for multigrain bread with lettuce. My husband got the burger and it was incredibly well done and all around not that great. Sides matched the overall feeling of our main dish. The kicker was having to practically beg for our check. Our server came over three times to check on us and each time we told him we were all set and he cleared the table. Finally my husband grabbed him and he goes "guess you want the check?" ?!?!!?? Really cute little place. They have a variety of foods to choose from. Great for breakfast, lunch or brunch. The coffee selection is mind blowing. Although this place is known to be more of a coffee shop, we enjoyed our dinner there! We were in the area for the pumpkin festival in Franklin. It was a cold evening and wanted to grab some food. Decided to give Frothy monkey a shot.! Ambience: a cute cozy coffee shop. It does have outdoor seating and seating upstairs. Service: service was super slow on that day. I am not sure if it was due to the crowds or if their service is slow in general. It took a good 30 minutes for our food to come! It was a bit disappointing that it took so long: Food: we got shrimp and grits and veggie burger with a side of soup. The soup was too thick to be considered soup. It was tasty nonetheless. The shrimp and grits was what made our diner amazing. They had warned us that it was going to be spicy. It was mildly spicy and it was not like any other shrimp and grits that I have tried before. I'm so torn about this place. I want to give it more stars because every tourist site says to try it out because it's so awesome. The atmosphere was nice, but man oh man, the bagel breakfast sandwich I got was SOOOO dry, my friend and I could barely choke it down. I may have returned it if my server would have returned to ask how things were. I will say though that my friend got her breakfast sandwich on gluten free bread and she said it was the best GF bread she's had. May I recommend adding something extra to your breakfast bagels that adds a bit of moisture? Would take it to the next level. This used to be a great, family-friendly, wholesome place that had such a positive vibe. I don't know what is going on now, but it seems like they are more focused on LGBTQ+++ than on making good food and coffee. Franklin is a kind, welcoming place, but it's also a place that doesn't appreciate you pushing an agenda. Just make good coffee and have a fun atmosphere. Let people decide their views. What a disappointment! With a half empty restaurant on Sunday afternoon, it was over an hour after ordering and complaining that the food was finally brought to the table. 4 of the 5 meals came out overcooked and the 5th was forgotten. The 5th plate was hastily put together in a sloppy way after we pointed out that it was missing. We had heard good things about the Frothy Monkey and took some family from out of town. We found this on Yelp during our visit to Nashville from Texas. First, they were open on Monday which was a huge plus! They use as many fresh, local ingredients as they can. They even reference where the products are from in the menu. My BF got the Cheesy Grits. They were not overly cheesy and cooked perfectly. I got the Huevos Rolandos and the beans and potatoes were perfectly seasoned. Eggs cooked perfectly with runny yolks. SO GOOD. Everything was great. My friend i went to go dine in yesterday. This was our second time at this location. We went around 1 pm. We walked in and the host asked if we wanted to go or sit inside. We chose sit inside as it was cold. However he sat us down brought us water and silverware. They were not too busy. We pulled up the menu and made our selections. At this point it had been about 5-10 minutes and no one had come to check on us. We saw a waitress and she was taking food to the other table nearby. She then came back and checked on the other table. The host was putting together more silverware (prob for dinner service later). At this point we thought maybe it was us... no one had acknowledged us in now 20 minutes. I attempted to make eye contact with the waitress with no luck. We finally decided that we had enough and ended up leaving. I am not sure if they were short staffed or what but we will not be returning to this location. Very disappointed and let down. read more

Great coffee and great food, but a bit pricey! Frothy's coffee is like no other. It is just SO GOOD. Whether you want a shot of espresso or a milky latte they give you a work of art. While it has similar prices to Starbucks, their coffee is by far better made. They use their own locally grown coffee as well as offer low-waste options for their customers. I sure do love this place. The vibe is great, it's clean, it's cozy, it's love in a cup. I always get the iced coffee, and theirs runs a little on the bitter side which is a-ok to me. My favorite was when they had EPICA red wine, it was THE BESTTTTTTTT and it was the saddest visit when we came for some glasses of it and it was long gone. I loved the manager that took the time to get us hooked on a different type of wine with tiny tasters. The rose was pretty good so we settled with that. However the red they chose to replace EPICA was NOT EPIC ya know what I'm saying? It's usually pretty loud so it's difficult to come and do work that requires phone calls.
