Their ratings are extremely poor on the Public Utility Commission's website, and their rates, unfavorably high. I should have read more reviews about their business practices and customer service history before I signed up for service. For they are certainly the lowest quality and poorly run energy brokerage I've encountered in my 20 years of purchasing electricity. These people advertise a rate of 6.9 KWH for 1000 changing at 2000 to 14.2. What their EFL graph doesn't show you is the fine print where if you use over 1500 it goes to 14.2 for the entire usage. No discount for the 1000 rate at all. Filed complaints with PUC and the state AG for misleading practices. read more

Spent hours on the phone between them and my utility company and got nowhere to get them to see what I was seeing. DO NOT sign up with Frontier Utilities. They are dishonest and use bait and switch tactics. I signed up for Frontier to be our new electricity supplier. Within 3 hours of signing up, I called them back and requested they cancel and not process my request. Just today I received a letter from PECO saying they have enacted Frontier as our new supplier. I instructed PECO to not enact the change and called Frontier to ask why they processed my request. The rep-who obviously did not have English s his language or origin-lied right to my face to say they had canceled the request and did not submit our info to PECO. I set up my sons service, added myself as an authorized person and they have my phone number and email on file but will not talk to me. I have had to have my son call them 4 times to put my name back on and still they will not talk to me. He is being charged 11c and I want to get him lowered to 7.3 which they are not advertising. Their outsourcing of Indians, or whatever nationality they are is frustrating due to the fact that you can't understand them and they are extremely uncooperative. I signed up with Frontier Utilities for electricity services with the promise of paying $13.9 c per kWh. Prior to sign with Frontier I spoke with a representative a couple to times to review a somewhat complicated contract but she repeatedly stated that the $13.9 c per kWh will include the delivery charge after the $100 credit if I was using between 1000 and 2000 kWh per month. After receiving the bill for the month of Sept/Oct. It shows that I am paying nearing $18 c per kWh and the rebate was not $100. I called and spoke with the representative to resolve issue but unable trying to explain to him. He was more interested to tell me more about another plan. Despites much effort, I asked how I could dispute the bill, he gave me a run around with wanting to sign me up for another plan which we discussed only to find out I would save $1, yes $1 with a new plan! I ended a call. He called me back and "threatened" me with a disconnection fee. Frontier sale practice is deceptive with promising good rate but does not deliver. read more

I had an issue with Frontier utilities billing, but customer service was very attentive and resolved the issue. If you plan to go with frontier, utilities, or most utilities that use average billing per kilowatt hour by issuing a credit when usage is between two set amounts, make sure you understand exactly what you are getting into. Your per kilowatt hour will fluctuate, causing your bill to look different than what you expect it to. read more

We recently switched over from another provider that we had researched online last year for it's advertising in cost savings and it turned out it was more expensive due to some "hidden print" in the contract that actually increased your price if you did not use enough power. About 4 months ago we researched and switched to Frontier and absolutely love the service...you get a weekly report on your usage and estimated monthly bill based on usage. Our electric bill has gone down over 30% and we could not be more pleased. We are an energy conscious family, but with C-19 and spending more time at home we expected the bill to be higher! This company should be investigated for illegal business practices. I called to renew my plan after finding a plan in my zip code area on the Power To Choose website. I was told that they only let new customers have that plan. I requested to speak to a supervisor and received a call 4 days later. I told them that the same situation happened last year and that I needEd them to provide me with the plan that was available for my zip from the power to choose website as they did last year. Instead they chose to charge me .19 cents pkh instead of the .12 cents pkh plan. This company is preying on the elderly, poor, and the undereducated people of Texas. Terrible company. Switched to them from veteran energy because I thought that I was getting a better deal. The customer service agent that I spoke to was based in India. When I asked questions about the plan I was told that my rates were going to be different based on my usage. That it would be around 11-13 kw if I stayed around 1000kw and it would be higher at 500 or 1500 kw. Later on after I agreed to a 24 month plan, I find out this is not true. My bill is ALWAYS 18.5 kw and is over 100 plus more per month than what I am used to paying. I called and spoke to several different customer service agents. (They are all outsourced calls), and no one has been helpful. They all just keep repeating what my plan actually is. Yes I know what he signed me up for now, I'm saying that this is not what I was told. They said they did an internal review and my claim is invalid. I asked if they could waive or discount my early termination fee, that request is invalid. I ask if I can listen to the original conversation that I had when I signed up for the plan. The lady said this is "physically impossible". It's impossible because no one listened to anything and basically I'm screwed because I "agreed" to this contract based on false information. I signed up with Frontier one year ago on a one-year contract. As my contract expires, I decided to switch back to my local utility as supplier. Called the "Customer Care" number as indicated on the letter. After a long wait, and even longer explanation and interview, she offered to forward me to "Customer Service" who could help me. Another long wait, explanation and interview. This person needed to forward me to a "Specialist" who could help me. I asked the agent to stay on the line until the "Specialist" was connected; he did. Up to this June I paid no more than $275 maybe $300 when we are just leaving lights on. So I get a double light bill for the month of July of $750 dollars, only my dogs home for most of the month. We have camera and a person that visits to feed them etc... I see a bill this month totaling $2700 dollars for July and August. Funny we weren't home for a month but our usage was doubled? This Frontier Electric company is a fraudulent company that manufactures fake kw of electricity the customer has used. Before I moved to a different electric company, I always checked a whole year of how much kw I used monthly so that I can purchase a plan that works for me. I live in a small place, 944sq ft condo, I put the heat at 67 and cool at 78. I am very conscious of how much energy I used. I cook once a week as I don't mind eating the same thing for a week. I do not own a tv or computer, just a phone. My 2nd bill came for 587.21, they are thieves! They are claiming that I used over 2000 kw. Made up numbers! I have proof from a whole previous year how I do not used over 1000 kw a month. My electric meter was checked on 2023 and is working fine. This company is falsifying the electricity watts usage to rob the customers. Don't used them! Checked the BBB reviews with similar cases! read more

On Jan 31, 2023-one of the coldest days in Magnolia, TX (35 degrees)--Frontier disconnected service after I paid half of my bill $898 as directed to avoid disconnection on Jan, 30. My 95 year-old mother, who is a stroke survivor was without heat on extremely. I again contacted Frontier Customer service, who are in EL SALVADOR, they said I was supposed to contact them after payment and since I didn't, I nullified the agreement even though I paid exactly as directed. I have lived in the same single-family residence without any change in sq. ft. nor additional appliances for 15 years and HAVE NEVER had the high bills I have received from Frontier Utilities on a supposedly 0.13 cent/KWht rate. The costs are SO exorbitant and Customer Service so atrocious--I am seeking another energy Servicer. The $150 fee is nothing compared to their charges/fees/rates/penalties. I call frustrated at this point and request for my account t to be cancelled due to their poor services and I was instructed that my account was cancelled without penalty (due to the contract) and I GOT CHARGED AGAIN YESTERDAY!!!! Last month my lights were turned off unexpectedly and i called and said my bill was paid so what in the heck is going on, they said my bank declined it and they added on $50 in fees. I said why wasn't a notified of this instead of just turning my lights off? No letter, nothing was said in my account just lights off. Turns out my account number was wrong for the e check system. Would rate as a 0 if possible. Late fees/DISCONNECTION fees are added if you pay even ONE day after your due date. The fees are absolutely ridiculous. A company should not send a disconnection notice for paying a few hours behind. Rates are crazy high, make sure you read every single word on every document at least twice. I was billed 308 with a due date of 09/22. I paid 200 on 09/11 bring my balance on that invoice to 108 which should have been auto drafted on 09/22 (due date). They instead drafted the whole 308 on 09/22. I cancelled my service with Frontier on 09/15 and received a final bill a few days ago. This new bill is not due until 10/05 and now I am being told they pulled the 308 because I was billed again. I am not getting a answer on why 308 was pull not 108. I am furious that I paid 508 this month when only 308 was due. I want the 200.00 that is incorrectly charged to be put back into my bank account. I don't want it credited to a payment that is due next month. read more

I like this utility company, but not their customer service or their response to an ongoing problem with my billing. I signed up for Average Billing in 2019 and enjoyed that program until April 2020 when for some reason still not known to me, all my account information had to be redone and I was knocked off Average Billing. Even though my bill indicates I have an Average Billing amount to be paid, actual invoice amount is deducted each month. Numerous emails and phone calls have NOT resulted in a resolution for me. And for that reason I give this company a two star review. Now, if they would fix this problem, I would gladly consider a higher rating. Worst electricity company out there!! They may have competitive rates but trust me that doesn't come easily and the will nickel and dime you. I had attempted making a payment on their app but was getting an error and to avoid getting charged twice, I waited a few hours before attempting again. Needless to say, I was sent a disconnection notice and charged a late fee on top of that. Although my payment was paid midnight of the due date.
