Delicious food always from any from the boot locations! This was our first time visiting the ambler location. They have a full service bar but you can bring your own bottle for a $10 bottle opening charge Our service was very friendly and made the dining experience enjoyable We ordered for appetizers stuffed zucchini, calamari, and a caesar salad. All was very delicious For our entrees we had veal parmigiana and vodka gnocchi. Everything was amazing And you must have dessert at the end. We hosted our Rehearsal dinner in early December in the wine cellar downstairs. We had over 40 people attend it. Bob & Tim made it a great start to our wedding weekend by adding their personal touch. After shopping at IKEA, went looking for a late lunch. Hadn't been to Ambler for many years, so we headed that way. Was sad to see the Broad Axe was closed and for sale. Parked the truck and filled the meter. Stopped in one place, but was not thrilled with the menu and left. After much walking in the oppressive heat, we came upon From the Boot, luckily they were open and the AC was a relief. The menu had a nice variety. Did a quick view of the Yelp reviews and settled on the stuffed mushrooms and the arugula salad for me. Partner got the pasta Nicola. Not sure of the name and it is not on the on line menu. The mushrooms arrived first. A variety of sizes from a quarter to silver dollar, stuffed with nice crab accented with red pepper. They were a little chewy, but any sin was forgiven because of the sauce. There were bread plates but no bread. I asked the waitress and soon received the garlic knots fresh from the oven. I'm sure they were on their way without me asking. These were no ordinary garlic knots. Unlike those served at pizzerias, these were fluffy, topped generously with butter and parm. Partner downed two while one was enough for me to clean up that delicious sauce. The salad and pasta arrived. Loved the salad as evidenced by my clean plate. The Caesar vinaigrette was lovely and light. Partner liked his pasta, but found it a little rich, so he took some home. We passed on dessert. The wine list was nice with several by the glass selections. I enjoyed a nice white. I also appreciated the little shelves above each table that held the condiments. This was my first return to this establishment post Covid and we ordered takeout. We ordered Scallops with Risotto and we were rather shocked when it came in tomato sauce which my wife does not eat. No explanation on the menu that it's red, no choice to make it white or red and I personally find it distasteful to serve scallops with a red sauce. My personal preference is a white sauce. From the Boot needs to do a better job on menu description. read more

We love their pizza. We ask for it to be cooked crispy so that the flavors of our toppings meld and we get a crunch with each bite. Their lasagna is meaty and flavorful. Their linguine with white clam sauce is so full of chunky clams that it is hard to finish the entire portion but we usually do! Yum. It's a BYOB so we bring our favorite wines. I grew up with an Italian grandmother so I'm pretttty picky about my veal dishes. AND you can hardly ever find really good veal anymore. Well, if you feel as I do about veal, don't hesitate to dine at From the Boot in Ambler. I went out with family over Thanksgiving weekend and ordered the Veal Francese. It really was done perfectly. Lean, juicy veal - Delicately breaded, sauted in a tasty hint of lemon and white wine. Light and delicious. It is served with yummy roasted potatoes, but they don't mind at all if you want to substitute a side of pasta or vegetable. I also had a taste of the gnocchi with Sunday gravy, which was incredibly light and delicious as well. It comes in a bowl with lots of meat and ricotta. Amazing dish for a hearty appetite! The complimentary bread basket was a big hit with our group. It appeared to be freshly baked. Overall, an excellent dining experience! read more

We were told they were booked for our date, no problem, less than a week before they called to see what our status was because they "think they might be booked for our date." Excuse me what? We have lived in the area for a little while and tried this place out last night for the first time. We will definitely be back! The atmosphere was cute and cozy. Everyone was friendly from the hostess to the waitress to the bus staff. As for the food, this was (hands down) the best bruschetta I have ever had! Went on a Sunday and had a party of six . We were seated by the front window which was nice since there was only 1 other table and it was much quieter than the main room. As for the food-- very very good. I had the Sunday gravy with Papadella noodles. The meal comes with rigatoni but I asked for Papadella and they gave it to me. The gravy/sauce had short ribs, sausage and meatballs in it. Wife had Papadella Nicola-- chicken, sun dried tomatoes, in a Gorgonzola sauce. Both meals were served hot and delicious. This restaurant was perfect! They serve very cheesy garlicky bread right when you arrive that was delicious. They have outside seating currently due to COVID and the environment felt very safe; servers were all wearing masks and taking all necessary precautions. The food was excellent as well! New to the area and tried From The Boot for the first time last night. We had a 6:30pm reservation, arrived a little early and was seated right away. The food was a solid 4 stars, but the service wasn't great. Our server was friendly and attentive at first, but not helpful when we were trying to decipher what the different wine prices meant - we meant to order a whole bottle or carafe but it wasn't explained clearly and we ended up getting the smaller one (and had to order 2 of those). It would be great if the sizes were explained on the menu. Anyway, moving on...the bread came out fast and was delicious. For appetizers we ordered the calamari and the meatballs - both were delicious. For dinner, my husband got the scallops and enjoyed them. My dad ordered the chicken parm and enjoyed it too (I tried some of the spaghetti and it was really good). I ordered the lasagna- it was really good, but very heavy on the meat and cheese, which made it feel a bit salty when I was about a third of the way through the dish. All in all, their tomato sauce is excellent. This is about when the service started to go down though - the server didn't check on us after we got our meals. We finished the first smaller carafe of wine during dinner, and wanted to order another but she was nowhere to be found. Others cleared our plates and boxed up what we needed. It was still early so we ordered more wine, even though at that point our dinners had been cleared. She did not offer a dessert menu - we had to ask. The blueberry cheesecake was amazing and the cannoli was pretty good. Same problem when it was time to pay. About 15 minutes of our credit card sitting in the book at the end of the table, and she still hadn't picked it up. At this point we need to get home to the babysitter, but luckily another server noticed us and took the credit card. All in all, we will come back but probably not anytime too soon. read more

First thing I see, my folded napkin set on a dirty appetizer plate . Next I Pick up a greasy , sticky menu . The "Bootini" their signature martini was not chilled whatsoever . Making that "dirty martini" unbearable . Ordered the fusilli, brocolli rabe, and sausage , there was very little pasta in the dish and the rabe was not cooked thoroughly . The inside of the restaurant is really neat. We had a group of four on a Tuesday evening and got right in. Really enjoyed the garlic bread, shared salad my wife and I shared and the entrees. Our server forgot my wife's wine and was reminded about it when she checked on the delivered food. She didn't apologize and basically ghosted us after that. The manager delivered the wine towards the end of our meal and when told did not charge for it. Service from the other staff was really very good but we felt a pretty ignored by our primary server. Eeeeh I will RIP very well if I pass away before eating here again. Food was average. I ordered a filet medium well. It had a great char on the top but it was medium on the inside. They should have offered to butterfly it to get it cooked properly. The flavor was ok but not impressive. I was given a few Teeeny potato wedges which left me hungry when I was done. But they were very good, just the portion was small Now the highlight of of my meal was desert. I had the lemon olive oil cake with vanilla gelato. The Dessert alone was worth 5 stars it was absolutely Delish!!!! I woke up wanting a slice but may try to make it on my own. The folks I dined with enjoyed their chicken Marsala and eggplant parm. We ordered take out this past Tuesday and it was phenomenal! Everything from the House Salad to the Tiramisu was delicious. We had a calamari appetizer that held up nicely despite being take out. Our entrees were delicious, the Veal Parm and the Veal Fiortino. Bob took our order over the phone and we were picking up our 4 course meal less than a half hour later! My wife and I were in the mood for something different and Italian this past Friday, From The Boot had some good reviews so we gave it a shot. We arrived around 5pm to the Ambler location with no reservations. We were sat outside which was fine. The tables stink though. There wobble and are flimsy. The chairs are beyond uncomfortable. The service also lacks outside. Our server while nice, didn't know much about the menu or go over the specials. She also couldn't recommend anything. The garlic bread they give is very nice. We had to ask for butter and olive oil at least 3 times. We also started with the stuffed mushrooms. They were the highlight of the meal. They were large and packed full of crabmeat. The sauce was also very good. My wife went with the Gnocchi Vodka. The gnocchi itself was tasty but overly sauced. The fresh basil listed on the menu was non existent. I went with the Pappardelle and Steak. It was flat out terrible! There is no way they used beef tenderloin! My steak was beyond tough and I've had better meat in a beef stew. Yes, it was that bad. The Marsala sauce while good just didn't go with the dish. I'm not a fan of asparagus so I swapped for spinach. Now I know they usually up charge for Asparagus but really spinach? My meal was $3.00 more then what was listed on the menu. It turned out to be a $70.00 meal without drinks and the food just simply justify that price. We have had better at chain restaurants. After the barely mediocre meal and service we received. We would not return. 2 stars all day long. read more

Love this place. The staff is always super helpful and nice and have even made accommodations for me a few times when I've come in for drinks at closing. Last weekend I stopped in at 10:30 hoping they were still open and even though I could tell the staff was ready to go home after the long day, the general manager Eliannah was so welcoming and patient as I finished a much needed glass (or 2) of wine. She even remembered me from previous visits! They truly have a family feel here. Their grilled salmon is my favorite and I definitely reccomend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant and delicious dining experience in ambler. read more

This review is based on a party I went to that was held in the basement. The food was buffet style that included: bruschetta and caprese for apps chicken parmigiana, meatballs and penne pasta with a cream sauce With most buffets, it's hit or miss. This, fortunately, was a hit. The bread for the bruschetta was crunchy and seasoned just right. The caprese was solid too. The main entrees were all very good. Not even a place I would take my mother in law. The eggplant parmesan was pounded thin and was no thicker than skin. It had also obviously been frozen and then "heated" to order and came out soggy yet at same time rubbery. Also ordered the grouper special which was an absolute disgrace. The piece of fish was prepared well and seasoned well, however, the clump of pasta it was served atop had obviously been overcooked and then let sit in the strainer until the starches were able to bond together and form into a ball. The sauce also suffered from either lack of experience or complete apathy in the kitchen. Mentioned my dissatisfaction to the manager who persisted in arguing with me for 5 minutes that the problem was not the food but me. She advised me that the eggplant parmesan was cooked in the "traditional" method and that I didn't like hers because all other restaurants cook their's wrong. She did credit the meal on the check and offered to replace it but I don't want food from here even if it's free. Almost took the free meal and threw it away out of spite! My waitress left halfway through the meal with no explanation whatsoever which resulted in my discovery of the only positive thing I have to say about this restaurant is the bartender was a stand up guy. He was experimenting with his drinks for the new months menu and I was fortunate enough to be his sampler. read more

came on a Sunday night with a friend who is allergic to gluten among other things. I love Italian food and am usually open to recommendations, so I asked our waitress to help me pick between the lasagna, a panini, or the carne pizza. She sold me on the carne pizza and was really helpful in making recommendations for my friend. Our waitress was really personable and we joked around with her a bit, she also introduced another waitress to us when her shift was up. They gave us bread and garlic bread to start. We got a small plate of portobello, which was delicious...I dipped my garlic bread in the sauce and topped the bread with the appetizer. My carne pizza was a little salty and I normally like salty things so FYI to anyone who usually avoids salty food...but the meat was so good and it was extra cheesy (took two Lactaids). Didn't have room for dessert and took home plenty of leftovers! read more

From the Boot's second location in Ambler seems to be popular so far. Every time I drive down Butler Pike there is usually a group of people out front. From the Boot occupies the location where Agave and Ralph's had been right in the center of Ambler. I have had eaten here several times and have always left with a full stomach and surprisingly not an empty wallet. The menu is compact but everything I have tried so far has surpassed my expectations. During my most recent visit I had a Caesar salad and the special which was a Veal Chop over gnocchi with a marinara sauce. It was priced at $30 and was well worth the price. The salad was good but it could have been a bit larger for my liking. If your looking for a local Italian place I highly recommend you give From the Boot a try. read more
