    Chicken Marsala- so good
    Bon Appe'tit M.

This place has simple decor, but the food is absolutely amazing! This is our second time here, and once again, they did not disappoint--happy tummy! We're very happy with our meal, and the service was great, our server was so nice and friendly too!

I wanted to love this place so badly. I've been to the one in Ambler which was so great I tried to find one closer to me. I decided to give this location a try since the menu was the same. The appetizers were very good. We ordered fried mozzarella and the stuffed mushrooms. If you're looking for a dreamy cheese pull, order the fried mozz. The marinara with it was tasty as well. Stuffed mushrooms were also very good and the sauce that was with them was even better. It was a rich creamy white sauce that married the taste of the mushrooms so well. For my entree I ordered the vodka gnocchi (which I had at the ambler location before) and the chicken parm. Yes I got two entrees because I was counting on it being so delicious I'd take it home for leftovers. So the gnocchi vodka was good, but the gnocchi were really overcooked to the point of mush that sticks to the roof of your mouth. For seventeen dollars, that was disappointing, but still ate it. It happens. Now the chicken parm. I am never one to return food. It FILLS me with so much anxiety. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt and suck it up and eat it, but now that this was the second disappointing entree for twenty five dollars, I just couldn't do it. Also I didn't want to get sick. This chicken was undercooked to the point you could see pink inside. The consistency of the chicken too was very odd which really assured me it was not cooked right. After about ten minutes of internally struggling to say something, I let the waitress know. I apologized several times and really felt bad. Again, I don't ever send food back. She went back to let the cook know and insisted on getting me a new order. At this point I was really okay with not having it but since they insisted I agreed. When she came out she told me the chef said it was pink because of the sauce it was sitting in and that it was not the slightest bit raw. Listen, I am not a chef but I know raw chicken when I see it. It was not sauce and I know that for a fact because it didn't happen to the second order. Second order came out fine. I didn't really know what to say other than okay. My wife got the filet which she loved. Came with portobello mushrooms, a red wine reduction, roasted potatoes, and red onion. She literally inhaled it. We ate and left quickly after our entrees because the whole defensive response that had to be declared from the chef through the waitress made us terribly uncomfortable. I don't know. It just rubbed us the wrong way. The ambiance of the place was very cute. Good mix of casual and nice. I don't think we will return to this location though, will probably just stick to ambler.

10000% satisfied my craving for creamy linguini. Service was excellent, and I loved the cozy family atmosphere.

    Chicken parm and pasta

UPDATE as of 1/25/21: I ordered two entries last night. The chick parm was burnt. I called and politely complained. They are sending me a gift certificate for the price of entree which I appreciate and is only fair. I recognize it's COVID and restaurants are doing the best they can but they have got to look at what the meals are sending out in take out. This wasn't acceptable. This review below is from 12/21/17: The prices have gotten CRAZY here! The food is always good but the amounts they are charging for their food is way too high for what you get. Pasta doesn't cost much to make and neither does chicken with a side of potatoes. I think the owners have big heads these days and think they're Mario Bitalli hence why they feel they can charge as much as they do.

Penne Vodka - not found on the menu but was recommended by a friend!

The food is good but nothing special and on the pricier side for the portion and bland flavoring. Still a nice treat now and then.

If none of those appeal to you, your only alternative is to choose a pasta with a standard sugo (tomato sauce). There are also a couple of sandwich options, but those are limited as well. There's little to no flexibility--if it's not on the menu, they're not likely to accommodate substitutions or custom requests. That said, the two young men I encountered were both professional and not snarky at all in relaying the limitations. It was what it was. I went with rigatoni in sugo, topped with grated Parmesan. The pasta was excellent--perfectly al dente, and the sauce had great flavor and consistency. Authentic and well-prepared. That said, the downsides are hard to ignore. The portion was relatively small, and with a bottle of Italian soda, the total came to $22.58--closer to $30 with tip. There's also no complimentary bread. Focaccia is available for $5, but it didn't look particularly appealing (a bit dark and overly crisp), though I didn't try it. Pros: * Delicious, authentic Italian pasta * Perfect texture and well-balanced sauce * Clean, attractive trattoria setting Cons: * Very limited menu (pasta and a few sandwiches) * No customization or flexibility * Price feels high for the portion size * No complimentary bread Overall, a tasty experience, but the limited menu and value may not work for everyone.

I had never been to olive oil and balsamic vinegars tasting before, and I'm glad to have the chance to learn and explore the store through the knowledge of Nancy Smith, the owner. She spoke about olive oils and balsamic vinegars like a sommelier. She taught us how to evaluate and taste olive oil by inhaling and noticing the aroma first, then sipping and savoring it. When the taste of extra virgin olive oil hit all my different tastebuds, I noticed the sharp and peppery taste. It was a bit overwhelming but pleasant surprise, I may say. Nancy was very informative and she encourage us to sample the store selections. P.S: it's advised to try olive oil in blue glass so we the color won't have any influence by the color. Pro Tip: Get the sampler set of your choice. Mix and match balsamic vinegars and olive oils, except truffle oil and pumpkin seed oil. 3 bottles (187ml) for $32.00 and 4 bottles for $42.00. The decor has a California farmhouse feel with lots of wood accents and open shelving. Fortunately, we were given a quieter table in the corner off the main dining room although even that room was loud. We started off with drinks and appetizers. The Orchard and Oak bourbon cocktail in a tall glass tasted like a winter drink and was slightly sweet. We shared Daisy's Nuggets which I would definitely order again. Finally, nuggets with a little heat! A few more blue cheese crumbles would have been appreciated though. We also decided to try the Smoke Show pizza which was fabulous even though I'm usually not a fan of thicker crust pizza. I especially enjoyed the combination of flavors including the ricotta on top. As an entree, my husband ordered the Short Rib Ravioli which wouldn't have been enough for him without all the appetizers as the portion was small. It seemed more like an appetizer portion than an entree. The Smash Burger, however, was a hit. Our server sang the praises of Manny's Mussels saying you could drink the broth as a soup. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the broth was too oily. Also, there weren't many mussels. Additionally, the timing of these entrees was terrible. As we were enjoying our appetizers, the mussels and burger were brought out by a food runner. It seemed as though there was no communication between the food runner and the server who later apologized for the food coming out too early. Also, despite noting it on our reservation and actually calling and speaking to someone named Lily, our birthday chocolate cake was again brought out by an oblivious food runner with no candle. I asked him to please put a candle in it, and it was brought out a second time with a candle. Additionally, our first cup of decaf was lukewarm despite our server saying she had just made a fresh pot. Our second cup was a bit warmer. Overall, we enjoyed our food and the ambiance. However, the kitchen needs a system to communicate with the servers, food runners, and reservationists in order to make it a better experience for diners.
