I've had Fritz's landscape do a couple of jobs now at my place and will be coming back if I decide to tackle more. The results on the front yard came out outstanding and exactly what I wanted. Fritz fixed my poor attempt at pavers, had a plumber replaced the water main, put in a new lawn with automatic sprinkler system and put a border of stone around the lawn. Quotes were accurate and all work was done very professionally. Could not recommend more. read more

Fritz does custom concrete work beautiful thank you again there is a difference gentleman thank you Fritz

We have hired Fritz and his crew to do several projects over the past few years and have always been very happy with the results. Every time, Fritz has kept us informed at each step as to when workers will arrive and leave (and they arrive on time as promised!), how long the job will take, and has provided accurate cost estimates. Recommend this company! read more

We hired Fritz and his team to completely redo most of the landscaping for our house, front and back, and we're super-happy with the process and the results. Fritz spent a lot of time with us to help us plan it out in advance and when his team was working, he would come to the house at least once a day, sometimes more, to make sure they were getting everything right. He's been doing this a long time and I could tell he really knew his stuff, inside and out, which helped a lot. And he was really nice and patient with us, even when we were changing or adding things in mid-stream. It looked like his team also really knew what they were doing too. For each phase, there were quite a few guys working and they worked efficiently and got a lot done in a short time. It was a pretty extesive project and they got it done faster than I had believed possible, mostly finishing in just over a week, even with the add-ons and changes we asked for. He also brought in some great skilled help for a couple of the sub-projects we added - an excellent carpenter that replaced a short wooden partial enclosure in the front and a raised vegetable garden in the back. His work was just outstanding. You can see in the details, the joins, etc. that it is well-crafted. And we decided to revive a fountain that hadn't worked in years so Fritz brought in a great electrican who got it going again and added a better switch configuration that brought everyting up to code while still looking nifty. Our landscaping went from looking delapidated and withered to what we feel like is the nicest in our neighborhood. It's lovely and has some character and charm and I honestly love walking up the path though it every time I come home at the end of the day. It's totally transformed the street aspect of our home. And I felt like I could really trust Fritz. He's just a nice, decent guy. He has always been super-responsive, even after the job was done and we've asked for a few extra adds & tune-ups here and there in the weeks after they finished. I would recommend him whole-heartedly to anyone. read more

Fritz and his on-site crew (led by Carlos) just completed our front yard remodel. I could not have been happier with the results. These guys were recommended by a golf buddy who had his yard done as well. From estimates, communications, timeliness, installation and clean up things could not have gone better. They cleaned up previous dead yard, installed new sprinklers/drips, new grass and new plants. The place looks great. read more

Fritz's Landscape Company - Landscaping Near Me

Fritz transformed nearly my entire property, front and back including demolition, grading, pavers, pergola, drainage, irrigation, low-voltage lighting, trees, plants, raised beds, sump pump, and mulch. The job was completed very quickly and efficiently in spite of the extreme heat. Fritz was on-site early every day and returned several times a day, always on top of the next steps. Carlos and his team worked very well together and created beautiful results. I was consulted all the way along. Fritz and the team have extensive experience individually and working together which really shows. I can't say enough good things about the project and how it was managed. I have already recommended Fritz to a number of friends and neighbors and would not hesitate to use in future for any property. read more

Fritz and his hard-working team replaced our lawns and some trees with pavers and new smaller plants. At the end of the job, we decided to add low-wattage lights to the front and back. The results were amazing! We couldn't be happier. Fritz has a great eye for selection and placement of plants and lights. Carlos and his team are hard workers who got the job done quickly and expertly. They also cleaned up at the end of each day! The cost was fair and reasonable given the incredible value we received. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Fritz Landscaping! read more

BEWARE! If I could rate Fritz Landscaping lower I would. Our experience with this company was terrible from start to finish. We hired Fritz to landscape our front and back yard. According to the landscapers that we have consulted with since firing Fritz, this was a job that should have taken one to two weeks to complete. We let Fritz and his team go after approximately 3 months. It took them 3 months to lay the pavers in the front yard and now we find out that the project is not up to code. The front steps and porch are uneven and pavers are shifting because Fritz used the wrong type of sand to seal them. Fritz started by tearing our entire front yard apart and then leaving. He sent his team once or twice a week if we were lucky. All the while, "complaining" (bragging) about the fact that he had 10 -15 other jobs going at the same time but he does not pay enough people to handle all of the jobs that he takes on. Fritz did not write any of our plans down and then would forget what we were doing often blaming me for "changing my mind". I started taking notes so that I could show him what we discussed. I could go on and on about my personal interactions with Fritz and the unprofessional comments that he made about me to my husband, but I will not get into that. All in all, Fritz Landscaping will gladly take your money and then take months and months to do terrible work. Beware! read more

We hired Fritz's landscaping after a considerable amount of research. Our experience has been terrific. We needed plant replacement, repair of our irrigation and lighting and repair for our water fountain. Fritz was extremely responsive proving us with a quote in less than 48 hours. His quote was very fair. His crew, led by Carlos, came when we were told they would come and finished the job on time. The crew were polite and respectful - cleaning up at the end of each day. Fritz took us to the nursery and helped with plant selection. He made sure that the plants delivered were healthy and Fritz came out on the job site often to make sure that we were pleased with the work and to let us know about what we could expect for the next day. His plant placement was perfect! We will be having Carlos take care of our yard maintenance! I highly recommend Fritz's landscaping. read more

These guys did a great and very professional job. We recently moved into a new house in January and the yard was an absolute mess! It was a project we tried to handle ourselves, but just never could seem to finish. So we decided to seek help. Fritz came to our house once in May, and again in October, to survey the yard and give us an estimate (I was procrastinating bad between May and October). The fact he took time to come out twice speaks a lot. His quote was reasonable and we trusted him more than the other 2 companies who came out. We did not have a big yard, only around 200 SQ feet, but they still did an awesome amount of work. They helped to demo the yard and even it out to prepare it for the job. We laid artificial grass and absolutely love it! They also outlined the yard with rock per our request, which looks great. Even more impressive is they helped to remove our two small, rickety steps on the deck and create two new beautiful steps. They look amazing and are way more safe. None of the other artificial grass companies were willing or able to do this. Carlos came by and was the main contractor who did the work, he does tremendous work. Each time if we had any concerns or issues come up they would help ease our mind. All in all took about 4 days/trips to finish, but well worth it. And as I mentioned before, they did a lot of projects for us and had to revamp a yard that had been unattended too by the previous owner for a decade. Highly recommend Fritz if you are like me, and have no idea how to fix up a yard! read more

Fritz Schommer and Carlos have been exception landscape professionals for us over the past five years. They developed two significant and complicated projects for our Orinda hillside home and we have received tons of compliments over the years. They were rationally priced, honest and have stood by their work. They are practical and smart when it comes to the area's conditions and get right to work. Both projects were finished on time and according to budget. They can manage both soft and hardscape portions of job and are a great counterbalance to a designers wild ideas. I can not say enough good things about these guys and am thankful we found them.... we had tried a high end design build group and were flabbergasted at the pricing. I wish more contractors had this approach. read more

Fritz has landscape 3 homes for me in Pleasanton/Dublin and I have been extremely satisfied every time. His crew is on time, clean and professional. He was present on the job every day to check in a make sure things were going as planned. He has years of experience and was able to provide recent photo graphs of his work and with the permission of his previous clients invited my husband and I to drive by several of his past jobs. His prices are competitive and he was able to start the work immediately. I would highly recommend Fritz's Landscape company. read more

David P. Pleasanton, CA The Castlewood home my wife and I purchased last year needed a major landscape job. We obtained several quotes and found a lot of cost variation. Fritz's Landscape Company provided one of the more competitive quotes and we ended up choosing them. The first thing we noticed was that Fritz was always extremely punctual. He was also easy to contact and would come out to have discussions on strategic landscaping related issues with us even in the evening and on weekends. Fritz would meet with us daily to discuss progress, next steps, and make recommendations. These meetings made it easy for us to adjust landscaping specifics as the landscaping evolved, which was very important to us because we considered our initial plan to be a guideline rather than a plan set in stone. Fritz has been doing landscaping for three decades, and he is very well connected with material suppliers, wrought iron fence installers, masonry experts, and patio installers. Fritz and Carlos (who leads the work crews when Fritz is not around) are extremely competent. When unexpected problems were discovered that were not strictly within job scope, they just took care of them right away and moved on. Overall, my wife and I were extremely happy with the job Fritz's Landscape Company did for us. I would strongly recommend them to anyone in need of a landscaper that will do a quality job for a competitive price. read more

First of all, we're not the easiest people to please but Fritz went out of his way on many occasions to assure we were pleased with the work. We contacted a few landscapers for bids on the removal of our front lawn. A few got back to us in about a week later. Fritz contacted us the next day. We set up an appointment and he was actually on time. I love that! He delivered everything he promised. He was super easy to work with and the guy really knows what's he's doing. I guess staying in the business for over thirty years helps. The man is truly an artist. We had our minds set on one thing and he opened our eyes to something so much better when we could have just gone with what we thought originally. Did I tell you that the man is truly an artist! That's what experience gets you. We would highly, highly recommend Fritz Landscape Co. Irene F. read more

Fritz's Landscaping recently completed a project on our property that involved landscaping, a new walkway and steps, a rock wall, and also new outdoor lighting. Fritz and the amazing Carlos, who knows how to do everything, as well as the rest of his workers and sub-contractors did a superb job. They worked well with us, with outside contractors, and the requirements of the HOA. They were timely and tidy in their work and I would not hesitate to recommend Fritz's Landscaping Co. read more

Fritz & Carlos did an excellent pavement job. They patiently did all the extras & delivered still in time & budget. Thanks a lot.

This company did our front and backyard landscaping... the whole works. It looked beautiful after and the front lawn survived through the winter because of all the rains we got. Soon after the rain stopped we started to notice an area that is browning in the middle of the front lawn. I started to pay attention to the sprinklers and noticed that there was no sprinkler placed in the middle of the lawn. I can actually stand in the middle and feel only a few drops on me. I called the business and they did come and replaced the sprinkle heads to supposedly longer reaching ones and was told that the lawn needed to be watered everyday!!!! and that we have not been taking care of the lawn... the blame is now on us.... We did as we were told then started to cut back on the everyday lawn watering to every other day for 35 minutes and now we have the same brown spots. The back lawn is fully covered with the two sets of sprinklers and is being watered for 15 minutes every other day and it looks fine. The problem is the front lawn! One would think that with the proper number of sprinkler heads installed there would not be a need to water everyday and the whole lawn will be watered properly... All I can say is beware!!!! I have now resorted to using a portable sprinkler when we are home to cover the middle section which irks me because for what was spent on the project I expected not to resort to this. I highly recommend Fritz's Landscape Co. We've had them on two projects so far in the last two years; a large backyard redwood deck in Oakland and a 50' long concrete retaining wall at our new home in Martinez. Fritz and Carlos's work is impeccable. They are on time or early and complete work with great precision. Fritz is also a great communicator and that's really important when you're trying to create the ultimate front or backyard! I can't wait to have him back to finish the rest of our yard soon! read more

We have worked with Fritz and his Landscape Company for going on 9 years. He originally did our front yard, front steps and driveway (which turned out exactly like I wanted, kept within my budget and is not high maintenance). Fritz designed the layout and recommended adding a low stone wall along one side that was a huge addition to the design and we get a lot of compliments on. His workers are great (huge shout-out to Carlos). Fritz is experienced and was able to tell me what would work best and what wouldn't work. He does our weekly yard maintenance too and keeps everything looking great. We have added additional jobs through the years and have been completely satisfied - thus the reason for 5 stars! read more

Fritz's Landscape just finished a complete renovation of our backyard, and I couldn't be happier! His estimate was about middle of the road, compared to others I got. He took me to see other jobs he had done in our area, even before I decided to hire him. Fritz is experienced and honest. Carlos and his crew were amazing! They were attentive to the detail of the landscape plans I had drawn up, and made some suggestions for improvements beyond what was drawn on the plans. Fritz and Carlos met with me routinely throughout the time the project was underway. Both were very flexible with dates/times to meet around my work schedule which was much appreciated. The project was completed with just one extra day of work than what was quoted, and that was just because we needed some additional drainage work done that was not anticipated. When a few items were added, costs were very clear and communicated verbally and in writing, so there were no surprises at the end. Fritz has continued to be responsive even after the project was completed with my questions about watering, adjusting timers for the recent heat wave, etc. If you need a landscaping project done, definitely call Fritz, you won't regret it. read more
