Fritas is off Duvall Street just a few steps but well worth ducking down the street. We wanted to see Green Parrot, but stopped here first to fuel up. You might miss it if you're going too fast but definitely stop and eat. The fritas are excellent. And the fries are fresh cut. Yum yum. The server was so nice and helpful. What a find! We had two types of Cuban burgers here last night with a side of fries....totally delicious! The burgers are more like a pulled pork consistency not like an American burger patty. The spices are delicious and the thinly julienne fried potato topping is the icing on the burger so to say! Mmmmmm......fun atmosphere....very eclectic. All the food is cooked in a food truck out on the patio. Friendly owner and waitress. Seating could be a little more comfy....wood slats. But I would definitely say stop here. YUM! read more

Sorry not posting any pictures because the food was so good, I ate it all before I could take a picture! My husband and I are vegetarians. We ordered their Frita Bello and Impossible Frita and it was fabulous! Probably the best Cuban food we have eaten. Also, definitely try their Yucca fries with garlic cilantro oil. It is loaded with flavors! The location is perfect, right off of Duval street, so takes you away from commotion. They have patio sitting where they allow dogs. They have masks on all the time so it feels pretty safe. Definitely recommending this place to whoever visits Key West. read more

Very authentic. We had plantains and guava, Cuban sandwich, Cuban pork tacos and the traditional Frita. It was all amazing. Drinks were all great. Chickens roaming the outdoor eating area were fun for us to play with and feed. Service was great, fast and friendly. You should defiantly check this place out. read more

I'm always recommending Frita's to tourists in Key West because it's such a unique place. It's affordable, tasty, filling food that you will not come across anywhere else on the island. If you need to feel good about the place you're grabbing lunch, I also want to add something as a local that was super meaningful during the 3 months the islands were closed to outsiders. Frita's was one of the 1st to offer locals a free meal to us if we were in need because we'd all been laid off from our jobs and had no income. They did this for the duration of the shutdown. The owners have always been looking out for EVERYONE. They've also been making high quality, stylish, cloth face masks too (I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my masks from them). So make sure you add one to your order when you go there. And wear that mask in Key West until we get the "all clear" whenever that is. I can't recommend Frita's enough. read more

This place touts itself as a Cuban Burger place, but I was drawn in by the arepas, a Venezuelan specialty. This little storefront has a cute Frita Kahlo-inspired theme. After ordering, the guy then went right outside to the food truck parked in the adjacent space to cook it. Nice shady sitting area. Since I wasn't super hungry, I only ordered a cheese arepa. The arepa itself was tasty with bits of corn still visible. The queso fresco filling was a nice, simple complement but if I went again, I would have ordered lots more fillings. It came with a side of a half cob of roasted corn sprinkled with cheese and seasonings - yum. While this review is only for a small sample of their menu - I wanted to write it up to get Frita's on the Yelp radar. They appear to be a brand new place and look to be positioning themselves as a coffee shop as well as a casual burger option. Definitely a better alternative than the overpriced fried food and/or fast food on nearby Duval St. The menu also includes a variety of Cuban cheese toasts, churros, Cuban burgers (beef and pork patty with seasoning), cubano sandwiches, flatbread pizza, and some interesting sides (yucca fries, tostones) Give them a try! read more

We came across this place while visiting Key West on our trip from Florida. From the outside it looks like a tiny shack and it could be way to miss. We sat inside and it is truly a small staff show as you seat yourself and they very casually get your order. It made me feel as though we were at someone's house (a good thing). As a family of four we ordered the Cubanito, Plantain Fries, Empanadas, and the. A Quesadilla off the kids menu. He food was all very good and the highlight was for sure the Cubanito. We also ordered four freshm lemonades but they also have a full bar for those interested. While we loved our experience one should know it is a rustic experience as you are seating in the open air (inside or out) and it is very laid back in terms of just saying what you want Nd they bring it out as it is done So very good food and very authentic homey feel. read more

Understanding things happen in the restaurant industry I generally give everyone the benefit of the doubt, however the lady working the counter could not have been more rude and unprofessional. On my last day in Key West I was in search of a Cuban sandwich. Yelp led me to Frita's and if I would've blinked then I would've missed it. Frita's is a small shack on Southard St in Key West. It has an open window facing the street that allows for quick orders, a very small amount of seating inside, and a limited amount of seating on a patio area. They specialize in Latin street food with an emphasis in Cuban food. Perfect. The food ranges from salads to quesadillas, tacos, sandwiches, and burgers. They also have a breakfast selection. Most of the food is purchased a la cart with sides being additional. Sides include tostonaes, yuca fries, regular fries, and more. The Cuban sandwich was awesome. The roasted pork was flavorful, the cheese melted, and the bread perfectly pressed. It was exactly what I was looking for. My friend had white fish tacos and she really liked them. Frita's has a variety of drinks available. I had the lemonade and my friend had a watermelon juice and lemonade mix. Both were awesome. We were in Key west for 6 days and ate Frita's 3 times. It was SO good! We ordered to go twice and it was quick and we ate in once and the service was so friendly and quick. I'm not sure if it's a family restaurant or not but it felt like one. Just everyone was so friendly. The food was so tasty. We tried many things on the menu and didn't have anything miss the mark. My little vegetarian daughter was super appreciative of the impossible burger (it's why we went here in the first place) but really all of it was SO good and a great value. We got there jsut a few minutes before closing time adn the fryer was broken - so some menu items werent available. i ended up trying the Frita which was good. Thej place is tiny, there is one table inside and maybe two outside. The "kitchen" is actually a food truck trailer - pretty intersting concept. Holy cow. Please, if you do nothing else while in Key West, eat here. I mean, the best and friendliest service. We got a Cuban (oh my wow) it was delicious. It was basically a panini and so good. We also got a fish Rueben which sounds weird but was also insane. The rice and beans were simple but perfectly prepared, the ginger beer was some of the best I've had, the mini key lime pie was the best after dinner treat. All in all, go here. Cool small spot to get some yummy treats. I've only had a frita a couple of times in tampa, so not a lot of reference points, but just in general the one here is good. Nicely cooked and good flavor. One thing I liked better about the frita here is the fried potatoes are thread thin rather than match sticks. Which gave it extra texture and crunch. The bread/bun was a perfect complement and did a good job soaking the juices without falling apart. Important! They had sweet potato and ham croquettes as a special the day we were there. GET THESE if they have them! yummy and different. Beer selection is minimal, but not the end of the world there. Friendly but very limited seating so get it to go and go find a bench to enjoy things. read more

I hardly ever give out 5s.... Most places only end up ranking 3s or so with me. From the first bite they had me. The Cuban Wreck sandwich was just utterly amazing! The flavor just boomed in my mouth! The fried texture of the pork, the perfect tang of the sauce, the pillowy softness of the bun just came together in perfect harmony. Each bite of that sandwich was an oral orgasm, and when I was done, my fingers were covered in juice. But I wasn't done. I craved more yummyness, so we also got pork tacos, Cubanito and the Cuban Bahn Mi. Everything was just absolutely out of this world! We were pleasantly stuffed. I urge you to go, you can thank me later. I plan on making the trek here again from Seattle just for the Cuban Wreck! The staff were great, friendly and patient while we tried to work our way through wonderful menu. They offered great suggestions and were key to making sure we had a great dinner. When you're Hispanic you tend to be a bit picky about Latin food spots. Nothing ever tastes better than your mom's cooking. So with that said we stopped in for a quick bite and we left with a full belly and a huge smile on our face. We had the original frita, arepa and roasted corn. They were delicious. The corn was amazing to tell you the truth. The arepa had beans and pork on top and was also really good. The beans were ok but the pork made up for it. Frita was seasoned perfectly. This restaurant was near where we were staying and my son and his girlfriend stopped in for lunch and loved it. So we went back for takeout that same night for dinner. The staff was amazing, seemed family owned, they were very friendly and helpful with the menu. The young man who helped us realized my son knew Spanish so they had a whole conversation in Spanish. He helped my son through his Spanish. It was nice to see all of those years of school paid off. Now to the food, this was one of the best meals we had on the island. The pork tacos were awesome, savory and sweet with the guava relish. The birria tacos, were so good, I will say they are very spicy, so if you can't take heat, this won't be the dish for you. I love spice, I thought these were made to perfection. My daughter got one of the burgers, that was yummy as well. While we waited we had a Cuban iced coffee, was great on our hot August night. There is only outdoor seating and it's limited but cute. The prices were reasonable and the wait time wasn't too long either. I highly recommend. read more

Overpriced food in my humble opinion. The food in the photos are nothing like real life. We ordered the Cuban burger with a fried egg and to be perfectly honest a McDonalds happy meal would of taste better. The place is was very run down and unkept to a basic standard of cleanliness - the seat cushions smelt of urine and were disgustingly stained, the fries were swimming in fatty oils.
