JOSE, the master of Wasacaca !
Anthony J.

WOW! The cleanliness, the service and THE FOOD are immaculate. Jose set me up with an amazing burger with fried egg that rivaled any fried egg burger compared to Americas burger city, Brooklyn NY. His passion for food is like no other..., and each dish shows it.

Lovely new food truck that has just opened May 2023. They are located in the parking lot of George's Plumbing. They offer a small variety of Caribbean fare, that will tantalise your taste buds. There is NOT any type of seating available, so is best for those who are picking up an order to take back to work or home. I'll post photos and further review of the food after I finish eating.

Best Venezuelan food in Key West (and whole Miami area). Parrilla and tequeños were amazing. Wasacaca salsa is super tasty. Great customer service. 5 star place ! I will definitely come back when will be in KeyWest again.

Queen of Paradise arepa

Had been seeing this place on Instagram and everything looked really good so we made our first visit tonight. Glad we did because the food was delicious! Arepa was perfect, crisp on outside soft corn on inside and not dried out. Loved the chicken and avocado. I'd never had a cachapa (corn pancake) before and it was so yummy. With the added pork, the combo of savory and sweet was really nice. All the meat was well seasoned and cooked, nothing was dried out. Nice portions and friendly service too! We brought our food home and the way they wrapped it kept it warm. Will definitely be back!

Incredible food and service! Sandwich was one of the best I've had on the island and by far the biggest. Great value for everything and awesome customer service. 10/10 would recommended must have! Don't even need a side to go with it. Keith Lee would approve.

Incredible authentic Venezuelan cuisine on the Paradise island. The most southern tip of Florida is now blessed with the traditional "arepas y cachapas venezolanas" stuffed corn cakes and yellow ground corn pancakes with cheese and all sorts of toppings: shredded beef, shredded cheese, pulled pork, white authentic Venezuelan cheese and, of course, the best WASACACA sauce ever created. Don't miss this healthy and hearty option for your night out.

Delicious and savory! When you have these arepas, there's no need for any other snacks in the house.

We sat at the outdoor bar. Distinct Caribbean vibe located in the historic Bahama Village. Daria brought us drinks & menus. Lots of breakfast & lunch choices here. We started with a Bloody Maria ($13) & a Hot Irishman coffee ($12) - both were excellent. Lot's of breakfast choices from fancy pancakes to various eggs Benedict breakfast dishes. Shrimp & Grits - Key West Shrimp Sautéed in White Wine. Butter and Scallions over Grits and White Cheddar w/ fresh fruit ($19) & Andy's Grilled Sharp Cheddar Cheese & Tomato Sandwich w/ potatoes ($13) - again both were excellent. Very relaxing atmosphere on a somewhat busy lunch time. There is also a gift shop featuring their baked desserts and the usual tourist souveniers & clothing. Thank you again to Daria for excellent service & to Andy and his kitchen staff. p.s. metered street parking is limited in ths busy area. Reservations highly recommened for dinner 5-10pm daily. Both Husband and I ordered the special omelette, with lobster, bacon, and tomato. The dish was rich and delicious, with an entire lobster tail and plenty of bacon. To top it off, the omelette was accompanied by a slice of banana bread. We were not impressed by the key lime pie. Although the pie looks impressive, topped by a huge mound of meringue, it tasted a bit stale. Its consistency was heavy, and the meringue flavorless. Don't let the pie, however, stop you from going to Blue Heaven. The brunch is great service is friendly, and you can't beat the atmosphere, eating outdoors with the chickens and artwork. Tip: arrive early to avoid a long wait.

I had the entree trio the scallops were cooked perfectly wrapped inside crispy bacon, the grouper was a little dry and the garlic mashed were slightly bland, the shrimp and were seasoned and cooked well and the spice level of e curry sauce over the rice was great. Overall a great dish. my husband had the appetizer trio and he enjoyed it very much. Again the scallops were the star. We got a side of fries to share and they were very reminiscent of In and Out - a little styrofoamy in texture. The Lime Aioli for the fries was the star here. My son had the grilled cheese and caprese salad - he is a picky eater and devoured them both. I'd say all in all this is a great place!

We had a reservation and were seated promptly at a table up front. Our server was over in flash and soon we were sharing the tuna watermelon ceviche, the lobster mac and cheese and the quesadilla. All were delicious! For our entrees, we had the chicken and waffles, scallops with more of that lobster mac and cheese (I said it was good!) the fresh catch of the day and a ceasar salad. The fresh catch came with an ear of corn that I made short work of! For dessert we devoured the banana bread french toast that was perfection! I will definitely add this to my list of "go tos" in Key West!

We got one order of the Cayo fish tacos to share. Each order comes with two tacos. We chose a bench in the shade on the patio where some chickens were wandering around picking up bits of food dropped by the patrons. It was fun to watch them run in a group when one spotted something had fallen. Our tacos were ready quickly and after the first bite we immediately regretted not getting a table because they are a bit messy with all the delicious toppings. Oh well! I persevered and used a napkin to soak up the juice and the chickens took care of of the rest. I will never miss an opportunity to visit Garbo's when in Key West.

While it was enjoyable, nothing really stood out as extraordinary or memorable. The menu had a good variety, and the service was friendly enough, making it a comfortable place to stop for a casual meal. Overall, it is a dependable spot for a casual meal when you are nearby, even if it does not leave a lasting impression. It is worth visiting if you are in the area and looking for something simple and satisfying.

While I was checking it out, the bouncer at the bar next door told me it was worth a visit, which sealed the deal. Later that evening, I convinced my friends to go with me. They were expecting a full sit-down dinner, but this is more of a counter-service spot with 6-7 bar stools inside. The setup is simple: place your order at the counter, then either grab a stool or head to the bar next door, where they'll bring your food when it's ready. We chose the bar's patio, which gave us a clear view of the restaurant. It was reassuring to see other groups having their meals delivered over too--it felt like we had discovered the right local gem. The wait was about 25-30 minutes, but that only confirmed everything was being made fresh. And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. Our group ordered two jerk chicken plates with plantains, mac n' cheese, and slaw; one oxtail with black beans, rice, and mac n' cheese; and one jerk burger with fries. Every single dish was a hit. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky spice and heat from the scotch bonnet peppers, balanced with bold Caribbean flavors. The oxtail was tender and flavorful, and even the sides like mac n' cheese and plantains stood out. All in all, this was easily one of the best Caribbean meals I've had anywhere. A true must try when in Key West.
