There's tables outside and decent parking but it's more of a to go place. The Cuban was fantastic- usually other places don't have a lot of filling and fixings but this one was great. Ok Prices have gone up but oh my! Best Cuban on the Key. Hands down, my unscientific analysis now gives Kim's the top spot for a Cuban sandwich. They even have a clean restroom, which is more than I can say for 50% of my survey audience. The empanadas are fabulous with a homemade sauce that will bring you back. Was looking for a quick but yummy breakfast since we were on a time crunch before kayaking. We had breakfast tacos and a breakfast sandwich. A double espresso and a mango smoothie. The breakfast tacos were so fresh and delicious and the bread on the breakfast sandwich was buttered to perfection. The sandwich was cheesy and so tasty. Stopped in to pick up a coffee and some breakfast while staying in area. The breakfast sandwiches and coffee are great! I had the chorizo, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. We stayed in Key West for three days, went to Kim's twice! It's a small joint with a few outdoor tables and an island inside. The food was THE BEST food we had during our visit. Our favorite was beef tongue taco. Portion is very generous, tortilla is chewy and the meat seasoned very well. We also got cubano sandwich - well made and loved it!! We also tried the beef tacos and it was so tasty as well, though preferred the chewy tongue meat. We loved the owners there, so sweet. Service / rotation is really fast too. We talked to Hector about the Cuban coffee they use and have for sale, we decided to get a can of it. The brand is Café Cubano or Cafecito as it's called in Cuba. Service was great and did not wait long for the order, but I didn't find the food to be anything to write home about. The Jamaica natural water was overly sweet and didn't taste like hibiscus at all. I've eaten breakfast the last three days Ina a row from Kim's Kuban Sandwich Shop. I found out about it from a coworker's recommendation and I'm very happy I listened to their advice! The first day I ordered the Egg and Frita with cheese sandwich and thought it was GREAT! All their sandwiches are very large. So much so that after eating one in the morning I'm not hungry again until dinner time that night! The next two times I visited I ordered the egg and Chorizo with cheese sandwich. I really enjoy the Chorizo sausage and theirs is very good. I also order a large Cafe con Leche (coffee with milk) to accompany my sandwiches. I'm told this is Cuban style coffee, whether that's true or not I cannot say because I'm not from Cuba, nor have I ever visited. I will say that I think the Cafe con Leche at Kim's Kuban Sandwich Shop is very good and I enjoy drinking it. Fantastic Latin Caribbean food with some Mexican mixed in. They actually have some pretty good tacos. Try the al pastor. They open early and I believe they serve one of the best café con leche in town. I love it, but it is a little too strong for me. Usually I get the chicken soup . I.Love.This.Place! Wow and wow again. Its a small takeout joint off of a main road, so unassuming you might miss it (we almost did). The lady who runs the joint, I assume it's Miss Kim, is super sweet, warm and welcoming. She greets you with a smile and ready to help you with whatever you need. Popped in yesterday to pick up my phone order pf the breakfast platter. My eggs were perfectly over easy and sausage cooked perfectly. My wife loved her steak, egg and cheese sandwich so we went back for breakfast today. Since I was nursing a pretty heavy hangover, I ordered the rice bowl and OMGGG- it was absolutely delicious! I got yellow rice, black beans with fish and all the fixings including the habanero sauce (YUMMY!). We also ordered the chorizo, egg and cheese sandwich which was also great. The cafe con leche is good as well but sometimes a lil too sweet so ask for less sugar than you normally would. All in all, this place is delicious and I plan to go back for a couple of additional entrees. I'm eyeing those fish tacos HARD lol. read more

Kim's Kuban knocked me out of the park. Its very rare I go to a restaurant on vacation and the restaurant is what makes me want to visit again - but Kim's Kuban did that for me. The Birria tacos were to die for- and thats from an LA native who now is NYC based. The breaded palomilla (bistec empanizado) was also great- the seasoning on the breading is to die for. The spot doesn't scream best cuban food and tacos- its off the main road in Key West - but wow they delivered. Additionally they were SUPER fast - we ordered and it was done in less than 10 mins.
