I went here because I saw a video on TikTok about this place. And let me just say I've had Haitian food from everywhere in Miami and nothing taste as good as this place. The meat was so flavorful, the rice was delicious, the fried plantains was soft and crispy. We're from out of town and came specifically for the French onion soup, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. Rich, comforting, and perfectly done. We also ordered the creole shrimp with rice and vegetables, which was incredible. The rice reminded me of jollof rice and beans - so flavorful and cooked perfectly. My brother had the spicy creole shrimp pasta and said it was one of the best dishes he's ever eaten. 5 stars hands down!!! Mo's is a little hidden gem in Key West owned by Mo himself. Really nice guy! We walked right in about 8pm and he told us just to sit wherever. Started off with crab cakes for appetizers. It was 2 thin patties served with salad. It was quite large so it could easily serve two people or for one person as a main entree. For our main course, we stepped out of our comfort zone and ordered the goat which we had with red beans and rice and vegetables. I typically don't order goat because of the gamey taste. But the way Mo prepared the goat was just absolutely mind blowing! I kid you not!! For a second I thought I was eating beef. The spices in the stew with the rice, beans and vegetables came together nicely. Finished the entire thing! Next thing you know, here comes Mo with 2 slices of pie. One was key lime and the other was pumpkin. We didn't even tell him we were going to order dessert.. it's like he was reading our minds. And he didn't charge us for it either. Told you he was nice!! So if you're in the area and you're craving good Haitian food.. come to Mo's Restaurant. I live in Orlando and the Haitian food there is nothing compared to here. I was really interested in trying Haitian food so we made Mo's our first stop when we landed in Key West. When we arrived around 7pm, it wasn't busy at all - it was just us and the chef. I ordered the oxtails with dirty rice and the chef got to work. The stove was next to the bar and restaurant was filled with absolutely mouthwatering aromas while he cooked our meals. The oxtails were amazing - slightly falling off the bone tender but with a bit of gelatinous chew covered with a slightly buttery and spicy roux - very reminiscent of New Orleans style cooking. The dirty rice was very tasty too and the portions were very generous. This is defiantly a bit different than the tourist restaurants on Duval - but is probably a lot better if you like that sort of thing! Highly recommended! read more

Super excited to eat Haitian food now when I am in Key West. I wasn't a big fan of their Rice though. The plantain, pikliz, and.pork was delicious!! They have a small eating area inside if you want to stay and eat in it. It was just us at the restaurant and they had Haitian music playing. They had wonderful customer service. Our food was cooked fairly quickly and staff was very nice. I noticed most people actually got their orders to go. Next time that's what we might end up doing. It's so close to the beach. It would be cool to go eat it on the beach. They do not have a parking lot but we were able to find one our parking in front of the restaurant. We went during a weekday during lunchtime, so there wasn't very many other cars. It may be hard to find parking if it is a busy weekend. read more

This place is GREAT. My favorite meal of my trip to Key West. We had the Creole shrimp with rice and mixed vegetables, and the snapper with rice and vegetables. They were both fantastic. Very pleased. Got the Caribbean chicken with white rice and black beans. The sauce on chicken was good but those black beans... were the best I've had. I'm not big on beans but these were so flavorful! I was putting just the sauce on my rice and even dipping my chicken in it, was so good. However, my one disappointment was the texture of the chicken. The first few bites were good, but then it got a little mushy. Nothing crazy, and still very edible, but definitely a little over cooked. The oxtails were great! I'm used to Jamaican oxtails and these have a different flavor I've never had. Wanted to try this place, it's Haitian and family run. Service was really friendly, maybe a little slow but I'm thinking they cooked everything to order. My husband had the gazpacho soup, flavorful and so fresh. He also had the Snapper special with rice and veggies. He loved that too. This restaurant was recommended to us by someone who worked at our hotel. I asked him what the locals eat and Mo's was at the top of his list. This is my first time trying Haitian food and here were my first two thoughts: (1) DAYUM THIS IS BOMB and (2) where have you been all my life. You know a place is good when there's a garlic bulb caricature on the front window (see attached picture. All I have to say is don't eat at any of the hyped up overpriced spots in key west. We decided to check out MO's after a recommendation from our hotel front desk. It didn't disappoint! Best meal of our whole trip. Low key spot away from Duval street, locals were having dinner, my type of spot. Ordered plantains and French onion soup as appetizers. Seriously some of the best French onion soup I've ever had. Cleaned my bowl. For dinner we ordered popular items. I got the snapper and my husband got the shrimp creole. Amazing flavors of the fish and sauces without being too heavy. They also had this very spicy slaw on the side. If you like spice, try it! We finished the meal with pumpkin and key lime pie. Key West, Florida --- I discovered a restaurant in Key West that I will NOT return to - "Mo's Restaurant". "Mo's" is 1 step below bad service - NO service. I was greeted with a confused look. I asked "Do I order, then sit?". The reply was an abrupt "sit anywhere". No casual greetings, or suggestions when they came to table for my order, just a stare like I was holding them up. Nobody even returned to my table once I gave my order, other than to deliver my food and mumbled something, as he was walking away. I thought he was coming back with something he forgot to bring - I was wrong, nobody ever returned. A young guy surprised me when he brought the credit card machine to my table ready to pay. I told him I wanted to try some Key Lime Pie. Then came the bill machine again, before the pie. On a side subject, the wine glasses hanging for customers' wine are totally foggy. Not sure when the last time they saw soap & water. The staff has no personality at all, or professionalism. Another point, I don't know if I dislike like Key Lime pie or I don't like theirs (my 1st was today). It was a thick texture, kinda pasty, and very thin. If that is the way Key Lime pie is, I do 't like Key Lime pie. My seafood casserole was all pasta topped with cheese. They only serve beer and wine because of church across the road- which we didn't mind.
