This time we took our skewers to go vs eating there. Even so, the skewers are still tasty. Good size meat in each skewer and very well seasoned. The gizzard is an absolute must order. It has kicks and the gizzard is tender & chewy. Next time we will eat there.
This has easily become one of our favorite local restaurants. We've been coming here almost once a week for the past 2 to 3 months, and it's become our go-to spot for a late-night snack or casual dinner. Since it's still fairly new, the place always feels very clean, bright, and upbeat. The color scheme and décor even remind me a bit like Food terminal--modern, spacious. The staff has always been wonderful, and the owner is a young, very sweet gentleman who often stops by to recommend what's new or popular on the menu. His suggestions have never disappointed. At this point we've tried almost everything on the menu, but our absolute favorite is the fish with sour mustard soup. It's incredible honestly the best we've had anywhere, even compared to Chinese restaurants in New York. Their beef skewers are also fantastic, and the mushroom skewers are just as good. Another must-order is the cucumber cold salad combo, which is super refreshing and a perfect balance to the richer dishes. Because they stay open late, it's the perfect spot to meet friends for a late-night bite or enjoy a relaxed family dinner. The flavors are always on point, and every dish we've tried fits our taste perfectly. Overall, we absolutely love this place and can easily see ourselves continuing to come back again and again. Highly recommended!
New skewers joint in the ATL! I wish I had taken more photos here. The skewers were flavored nicely and cooked well, especially the beef skewers. I highly recommend coming here to try the Chinese style cooked skewers. My personal favorites are the beef ones, pork belly, chives, eggplant, and tofu ones! Service was great and lots of seating inside!
The inside is very trendy. I went on a Wednesday at 12:30 PM, and I was surprised that no other guests were there. There were a couple of to-go orders, though. I did notice on their menu that almost everything is spicy, as denoted by one pepper. I don't like spicy, so that's why I gave it 4 stars. I wish I'd thought to get a milk tea to soothe the heat. The waiter was prompt, but also waited for me to have time to read the menu. I ordered the steamed bun and the 3 skewers of chicken with pineapple. I also wish I had thought to ask if you can get the food without the red pepper flakes that were sprinkled on everything. The waiter lit a votive candle so that I could keep the skewers warm at the table. The steamed buns tasted amazing, but all the extra red pepper flake on top detracted from the overall enjoyment. Just wish there were actual flavors for the different skewers besides red pepper flake. If you like spicy meat skewers, then this is the place for you!
Been to Friendship BBQ 5x now. The standouts: lamb skewers are consistently juicy and flavorful, and the cucumber appetizer is DELICIOUS! Light, crispy, vinegary, and slightly spicy. Those cucumbers are the only reason I keep coming back. The fried rice is also good because of the shiitake mushrooms which make a unique flavor. The misses: the beef skewers have been tough every time, and the grilled bone marrow was oily. The grilled chicken skeleton sounded interesting but was like eating shreds of meat off a pile of brittle bones. The milk tea ice rice dessert looks interesting, but it's really not. Somewhere in between: the grilled squid tentacles are good if that's what you're looking for. The pickled cabbage braised mandarin fish fillets is more like a fish soup. It's not bad, but not too flavorful either. Overall, this place can be a solid go-to if you stick to the classics (lamb skewers, cucumbers, and fried rice). If you're in the mood to experiment, it's a hit or miss adventure.

Clean inside. Meats are cooked perfect and seasoned heavy in cumin. Drinks are okay, nothing special. Must try: spicy cucumber salad Wouldn't order again: sizzling chicken and bone marrow (wasn't quality). Dessert is meh, go to the bakery next door instead.
So my feelings are very mixed on this place. On one hand, the meats were cooked perfectly and the portions were nice for the price and style of meal. On the other hand, the seasoning that they put on EVERYTHING, was not particularly to my liking. It was very very cumin heavy and was strong enough (even though we asked for light seasoning) to overwhelm a lot of the meats flavors, making all the meats way to one note to really enjoy. Even the pineapple was overwhelm. The only meat that had enough flavor to compete was the Mongolian Beef. There were some stand out dishes though. The cucumbers were absolutely amazing and acted as a perfect pallet cleanser for a very savory meal. The double cooked pork was perfect except for my personal dislike for one of the spices in the sauce. If you like strong, bold, spicy flavors, this might just be your spot. If you were to ask for the skewers without seasoning and get it on the side, it would be losing out on what the meal is supposed to be. I would say to definitely try out the place if this sounds good, but I would order the first round lightly and make sure you like the style before going all on a bunch of food. The staff were very friendly and were able to help us try some new foods. And even recommend the cucumbers to help with the spices. The restaurant itself was open and had a lively atmosphere that encouraged a comfortable group eating experience. I can see medium size groups coming here to have a nice lunch or dinner. I think this place is just not for me personally, but I am glad to have tried it and I may try similar places if I find them around.
‼串 CYBERPUNK KABOB VIBES 串‼ Friendship BBQ 友情客串 is in the newest Chinese bbq spot in Duluth. Still in soft opening. Doesn't look like much from the outside. But, once you enter, you will be transported to a futuristic Blade Runner world of neon signs and BBQ. I've been to their Orlando location a few years ago, and this Metro Atlanta location is very similar. Each table recieves a beautiful bamboo wooden grill box to keep your skewers warm. Easily order from your phone by table with photos and clear pricing. Such a fun vibe! Called 串 "chuan" in Chinese, they are various protients or veggies of your choice skewered and roasted. The best part is really the addictive seasoning --- each restaurant has their own. The base is salt, sugar, cumin, chili flakes, garlic, and if we are lucky some szechuan peppercorn powder. Love the authentic flavors here, mixed with creative new and addictive flavors that no one else has, like pineapple chicken and pinapple beef skewer. We tried: 1 Beef & Pinapple 串 2 Bacon Wrapped Enoki 串 3 Cumin Lamb 串 4 Tropical Tea 5 Milk Tea 6 Shredded Potato 7 String Beans 8 Cucumber Salad 9 Guobarou Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork Will be visiting again just for their tangsui with sticky rice.
We came to celebrate our friends birthday/going away party, it's a casual Chinese dining spot that specializes in skewers. Parking is plenty out front. The service was quick and friendly, they offered us our own private dining room and they were very tentative to our comfort. The food was perfect, and they let us BYOB this one time so the skewers paired very nicely with a cold beer, perfect drinking food. We tried things like stinky tofu, lamb, chicken gizzard, it was all delicious.
Friendship BBQ is a new place that is located in Pleasant Hill Square. They offer a variety of different grilled meats and spicy dishes. For my party of 2 and the food within the picture, the total was around $70. They do offer discount if paid in cash and overall I really liked the place. Food is yummy and well seasoned, the restaurant is clean and the waitress is all super attentive! 10/10
We tried a bunch of skewers that came as single or sets of 3 from the menu. There are a lot of tables and some private rooms eith closing doors for bigger groups. We got a private room. The skewers in the sampler variety called the friendship bucket ($17.99) all came with the same seasoning, which made everything taste very similar but offered a lot of variety. I tried the lamb skewers and they were a bit chewy. The pork belly with English mushroom was pretty good but you only get one skewer per order and it was very small. The chicken and pineapple was the best one out of the bunch, but none were particularly memorable. I felt like the skewers needed different seasoning to match the profile of the meat better and maybe a side of something pickled or even some sauces to help. None of the food was hot either, mostly just warm. One skewer was 3.49 and the 3 skewer set was 6.99 for the ones we chose. Service was relatively prompt and food came out fast. Servers were nice. The server didnt know which skewers were in the friendship bucket variety sampler. Just be careful to check if its a set of a single skewer as we ended up ordering less than we thought. Gratuity was automatically added for our group of 6.
The interior of this place was really nice and clean. We were seated at a booth quickly. The service here was friendly. The food though was really lacking. The beef was not hot and very dry. Also very small! The cabbage was way too seasoned and not good. Overall the food was okay. I like that they are open late and the ambiance is very nice but the food could definitely improve. The prices were also on the higher side for the quality of food.
Friendly service and nice decor make Friendship BBQ a nice find. Decided to sample some of the skewers. We went with the regular 3 pc beef and lamb skewers, the 1 pc Mongolian beef and Xinjiang Lamb, grilled eggplant, and tofu skewer. The spice and flavor was excellent. The Mongolian beef had a nice heat to it and was really enjoyable. The tofu was also good due to the spices. The eggplant was a surprise with a sprinkle of crushed garlic and a little chili pepper for heat. It doesn't look like much but it's really dense and filling. It's a great format if you aren't completely hungry, but you have a ton of menu options if you are.

While it's not a typically hard dish to make, it is sort of a labor of love and I think the price of $21.99 justifies this dish. Every time I come here I find myself always over ordering and over eating, but the food is just so good. My favorite thing on the menu would have to be the Mongolian beef. The flavors on the skewers are just so addicting. I also love the cucumber salad. They used to make the salad with chili oil, but they recently changed it to a sesame sauce. It's delicious however, if you are allergic to peanuts, I would not recommend this dish. I have asked for it for no peanuts before but one was still in my dish. I'm not severely allergic, but it would be nice not to have the peanuts in my cucumber salad. They did offer to remake it for me, which I appreciated. I can't tell you how many times I've been here, my favorite location would be the one in Boston. The skewers there were on a whole Nother level of crack. It was so good. read more
Okay, fine. I'll stop gatekeeping on this place. Friendship BBQ is a special spot that I love for skewers. My husband and I keep this place in our rotation for date night dinners. Of all of the other skewer restaurants we've tried in Duluth, this is our go-to spot. The meat skewers are seasoned well--not too salty/spicy and they are perfectly juicy. I highly recommend the beef & pineapple skewer, pork intestine skewers (if you're feeling adventurous) and the grilled scallop with vermicelli dish (very garlic heavy, but delicious). The portable wire rack (with a tea candle) they have for keeping the skewers warm is a bit questionable, however most other places I've been to don't have any type of warming contraption for the skewers. During my first visit, the waitress kindly added extra tea candles for us. Since then, I have found that the one tea candle is fine (since typically we order ~5 skewers at a time for 2 people). Be sure to rotate the skewers once in a while because even the one tea candle can burn the meat if left too long. Anyways, the warming setup isn't perfect, but it's better than a plain plate (which most places do). read more

Everything we ordered was soooo tasty! Portions were good too and the skewer sizes were fair. Top favorites were the lamb, chicken feet and intestines. Just a couple of things that we'd pass on next time, see below - Beef Skewers (3 for $10) 5/5 - Lamb skewers (3 for $10) 5/5 - Chicken feet skewers (5/5) - Pork belly (2/5) Only disappointing skewer. It was dry and not crispy. - Pork intestines (5/5) - Cucumber salad (5/5) - Garlic pea tips (5/5) - Coconut ice rice (2/5) Just not our thing. It was a lot of interesting textures and pretty underwhelming. The globs of rice didn't really mesh well with the other jellies and boba. Definitely recommend coming here and my friends and I will be returning :) read more

Such a fun restaurant! Definitely somewhere you go to hang out with friends! Decor is very eclectic and reminds me of Neo Tokyo. The skewers are delicious. I really enjoyed the beef skewers that we got. Everything was seasoned very well. The fried rice was also delicious. We also got an order of the pork feet which was plentiful and had perfect amount of spice. Portion sizes were reasonable and definitely shareable. Service was great as well! Food is delicious, fresh and piping hot, meat is tender and juicy and seasoned well. Generally we like the beef skewers but they do even the chicken really well, juicy and not overcooked. The garlic scallops and vermicelli was delicious! Beef marrow was pretty tasty (be be aware it is very fatty). Service is very good- prompt and friendly. Ambiance is clean, fresh and parking lot is awesome bc it's huge with normal spots. Next to canton house. Love this place! read more

I've been to a few similar restaurants in town for Chinese skewered meats, and this is my favorite so far. Compared to the others, this place uses an appropriate amount of garlic for their grilled scallop dishes, and the meats are well seasoned. I also love the well lit and modern décor. The restaurant is spacious, and the music playlist is nice not too loud. They even offer dishes like pig blood and grilled stinky tofu. The cucumber salad is a standout too the portion is huge. The staff are friendly and attentive. I like that they have variety of choice but not overwhelming with choices. They even have hot food and fried rice so it's suitable for family as well. read more

Love this place. Ambiance is good, wagyu beef is soooo good and melts in ur mouth. The restaurant food is authentic and that seasoning is heavenly. The fish tofu and rice cakes are staples as well! Tip: GET THE CAULIFLOWER I promise you will NOT regret it!! read more

Friendship BBQ in Duluth GA Finally opened!! I waited for 6 months!! Here are the following I tried Lamb skewers: recommend! Little gamey flavor, but acceptable for a picky eater like me. I can tell is fresh and good lamb. Mongolian Beef: highly recommend! I like the balance between fat and meat. And nicely grilled with little smoky burnt tint. This is my favorite Chicken and pineapple skewers: recommend too! Gives you a more fresh tone from the pineapple. Stinky Tofu: I only recommend to stinky tofu lovers. My suggestion for the restaurant is add some sour long beans or sour flavor (that's what the changsha version contains). $17 for a plate maybe controversial too, see if there can be a price adjustment. Crawfish: I appreciate they utilized fresh crawfish, you can tell from the tenderness and seafood sweetness from the meat. Suggestion is the meat needs more flavor, I barely taste any flavor, I have to keep dipping into the sauce. Oyster: I order it because how huge was it. But actually taste Soo fresh, not stinky and soft. Please keep up with the quality! But pricey $9 for 1 Ice Rice: the ingredients utilized is not worth the price. Friendship BBQ is bringing a whole new vibe to the Pleasant Hill area. The techno-futuristic decor makes it a cool spot to meet. The restaurant is split into a general eating area and private rooms. What blew our minds was that they have karaoke available in the private rooms. The menu focuses on a la carte Chinese BBQ skewers, but also includes additional entrees and sides. The skewers were seasoned well with a spice mix of cumin and chili flakes. For skewers, we enjoyed the chicken, lamb, mongolian beef, pineapple beef, pork belly with enoki mushrooms, fish tofu, Taiwan sausage, New Orleans chicken wings, chicken heart and chicken gizzards. They didn't have scallion pancakes available so we got the sesame pancake instead (we would have preferred the scallion). A friend invited me to check out the newly opened Friendship BBQ, and it turned out to be a really fun spot for skewers. The décor and vibe are cozy--perfect for hanging out and chatting with friends. Of course, we had to get the classics: lamb and beef skewers. Personally, I prefer the beef since the bits of fat give it extra flavor and juiciness. The grilled pork intestine was a pleasant surprise--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and bursting with flavor without any gaminess. Definitely a must-order! We also tried the Friendship Skewer Bucket, which leans a bit sweet in flavor. It came with fish tofu, sausage, wheat gluten, cauliflower, squid, and meat skewers. The cauliflower soaked up all the sauce and was especially delicious. They even had raw beef skewers--my friend wanted to give it a try, and I tasted one too. Surprisingly, the texture was quite acceptable. On the side, we ordered Guo Bao Rou (crispy sweet and sour pork), a Northeast Chinese favorite--super crispy with a perfectly sweet glaze. The oysters with hot spring egg were another highlight: big, tender oysters topped with egg and chives--felt like a real treat. Overall, the whole meal was satisfying and flavorful. The food was delicious and the ingredients were fresh. I especially liked the pineapple beef. It was sour, sweet, and spicy, sweetness pineapple paired with the spiciness beef. One bite of it made me feel back to the good times of last summer in Honolulu!！ read more

So cute! So fun! So YUM! Had the pleasure of trying this new Chinese BBQ restaurant in Duluth and I was so impressed!! The skewers were so tasty! The black truffle fried rice was chefs kiss! The oysters were out of this world! The seasoning was amazing! And the cold Korean noodles were (dare I say it) better than some of the Korean restaurants around (and I'm Korean)! Service was amazing too & decor was so cute and modern! This place is giving deep, traditional flavors with a modern edge! Will def be back!! read more
